Great Northern Distilling

Great service! I found it odd that they don't describe their whiskeys on the menu. Also missing an old fashioned on the menu, so weird. The Wisconsin Whiskey is really light and slightly sweet. Made for a good old fashioned.

Overall it was an absolutely amazing experience! Worth the trip and definitely worth a conversation with the mixologist I've been waiting for a few years for Great Northern distilling to open a location that I could actually visit. We tried many times at Plover and it just never worked out. This is their new location, and it definitely shows that they put the effort in making it an absolutely gorgeous place. There's even a room in back for rentals like wedding receptions. They have a small kitchen, so there's a few appetizers that can be gathered. The drinks are great, and their spirits are a wonderful standard spirit set. If you get a chance to chat with the mixologist they can enlighten you on a variety of drinks that they have available. Very much worth the trip!

One of my favorite places in the area to take visiting guests. Atmosphere is lovely, often just busy enough, but not too busy to have conversations. They offer both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, and they have a modest offering of snacks as well. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and they offer a small event space available for reservations.

The girls bartending are inexperienced and slow. There is no real customer service, just girls trying to get drinks out they they truly have no idea what they are serving. Not a smile. No hellos. No thank yous or talk at all. Very gen z stares and no social skills. The bar itself is nice but the drinks are priced like its Milwaukee. The first drink I had the bartender didnt know how to muddle the fruit, so she didnt. The next bartender did a better job at making the drink but still isnt worth $11. Go to wisota chophouse for a better experience and friendlier staff. I sat waiting for 20 minutes before I could get a drink. Ridiculous. As a business owner, this would never fly. Customer service is so important and if you dont have any, your business will go no where.

Cool new place with nice drinks and good food. My only suggestion would be to use one big ice cube instead of a glass full of ice. All that ice waters down the drink and is meant for cheap cocktails.

Best place for a cocktail around downtown. Looking forward to getting a tour one of these times!

Really awesome atmosphere at this place! We had no idea it had opened up in Stevens Point, we stumbled across it on a whim. So we were quite happy to find what a beautiful venue it is, and how amazing the drinks are. We didn’t get any food, but what others around us ordered looked very good! Definitely making this a regular place we visit

Who doesn't ❤️ a well crafted Martini or a yummy gooey smore?? THIS drink was perfection melded together with a great, relaxing atmosphere after a grueling week.

1. The owner is an amazing community orientated guy who is always trying to find ways to do good in the ways that he can. I see them around town sponsoring local non-profits and adding their drinks to support fundraising efforts. 2. The drinks are good! I haven't been to too many places around town, but I was very impressed with the quality they serve here. Inventive, delicious, high quality products. 10/10

The interior is really cool. Bar tender was very friendly. And the beverage was tasty. Fun break from some shopping downtown.

What a nice classy casual place. The distillery has some interesting cocktails.... We loved all we tried. Espresso martini - yum Spanish Coffee- which was a special (and the last night for the drink)- so happy to have tried it. Going to wish I could have it again. Conversation is nice here- whether at the bar or at the many tables... no one feels like you are on top of one another. Didn't try the food... but those around us did and the food looked delish.

Word to the wise: eat before you come here as these drinks are strong!! But in no way am I insinuating that these drinks aren't worth it because they absolutely are! Stopped before dinner and our night out to the park. They distill a lot of their alcohol if not all. I guess I assume they do it all as it's in their own bottles. We tried about 5-6 drinks total but I'm a little hazy since these drinks hit me quite quickly! Espresso martini is a must if you like coffee and vodka. Brandy old fashioned if you're a true Wisconsinite. Their brandy is incredibly smooth and delicious which I don't often say about alcohol. Service was great and answered all our questions. The whole place is large with a ton of seating and feels pretty retro! I'd love to come back!

Wow this place does not disappoint! The drinks were so refreshing and tasty! My husband said his Brady old fashioned was one of the best he's had! The vibe is very retro nowtro and very fun! The service was very friendly and knowledgable regarding the distilling process. You also HAVE to check out the soap in the bathroom.

Love the skill and conversation of the mixologists. The combinations of cocktails are well worth the experience of testing the variety. Great chill environment.

Great selection of drinks, a great atmosphere, and comfy stools. The bartenders are fun and happy to suggest their newest mixers. Happily bring my friends back again :)

Fantastic time at Great Northern Distilling. You have to try the Ginseng infused whiskey.

I'm not a local, but my family meets in Stephen's Point every winter between Christmas and new years as.a nice group vacation. This year we came to Great Northern Distillery for drinks and enjoyed it so much we made a point to come back over the weekend. There is a tour(that we passed up, but I might come back for one), but what we came for was the bar. The bartenders were all extremely knowledgeable of the offerings, as one would hope coming from distillery tenders, but also knew their way around the drinks as well. The Spanish coffee is amazing to watch the bartender prepare and has a delightful flavor to match. The atmosphere is very cozy and warm as one would expect of any place this close to the Northwoods, plenty of spots to sit and even between your groups wasnt crowded at all. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who enjoys their liquor or cocktails.

I haven't met a drink (or liquor or that matter) that I didn't LOVE! This place exudes Brooklyn ambiance but with friendly staff and out of the world cocktails I'd choose it any day over trekking to Williamsburg for an overpriced G&T made with Bombay ....

After having a beer at Central Waters in Amherst, my wife and I and a couple friends decided to try some cocktails at Great Northern Distilling. We had the Old Fashioned, Sazerac, Tom Collins, Egg Nog and Spanish Coffee. All were excellent. The last two were seasonal drinks on the menu that we had to try and we were happy we did, they were phenomenal! We would definitely come back and maybe do the tour next time. Coming from Chicago, the drink prices were quite inexpensive for the quality. Also, O'so Brewery is right across the parking lot.

Great tour, given by the knowledgeable, passionate, welcoming owner, Brian. He and his business partner have created a unique flavorful product. There's so much I could say, and attempted to, but it's a wordy essay. Who wants that much reading, when all that should be said is, "Go, you won't be disappointed"

This place is great. Come for the tour, stay for the drinks. Or just come for the drinks. They make wacky, interesting, tasty drinks at a fair price. Second time here, cocktails before before dinner at Mikey's (also a favorite). You won't be disappointed.

Central Wisconsin pride! This place is absolutely delightful, the bar uses old style Mixology. The owner, Brian, gave a tour of the distillery, and as a former chemical engineer he knows his stuff. This company is passionate about using local products and providing the community with quality, crafted spirits and cocktails. The staff was friendly and helpful. I definitely recommend great Northern distilling. This company has only been up and running for about a year- I can't wait to see what Brian cooks up in the future!

Great Northern Distilling is a gem in central Wisconsin. The Potato Vodka is flavorful and unique, showcasing the time and effort it takes to create a handcrafted spirit. The Herbalist Gin is outstanding, and makes one of the best gin & tonics I've ever had. I'm normally not a whisky kind of guy, but their Vanguard Whisky is so smooth with the perfect hint of vanilla. Also, the Opportunity Rum is a staple in our warm-weather cocktails at home. Great Northern has won several awards at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, and I'm certain the awards will keep pouring in (see what I did there?) as more and more people discover their great lineup of spirits.

Great Northern never disappoints. Even during the pandemic they have adjusted for customers and made a safe place to enjoy their amazing cocktails. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they were open when I went to do a curbside pick up. So...I went in and enjoyed an amazing Old Fashioned and spent time in the great atmosphere. No wonder it is called GREAT Northern Distilling!

This was my favorite distillery tour so far (sorry Jim beam)! So many unique selections for such a new startup. Brian's passion of distilling was very evident during our tour, I almost enjoyed that more than the tasting at the end!

Not since Rainbow Falls has this piece of property made me so happy. A fantastic and unique drinking experience. All booze is made in-house with local ingredients. Mixed drinks are the highlight and the booze makes for great gifts.

Great specialty drinks! Relaxing environment to enjoy cocktails with friends. You will wait a few minutes for a drink but that's expected as everything is made from scratch locally and not a typical bar.

Creative cocktails, never disappoint. One of our favorite places in the area. Would recommend to everyone we know!

Very disappointing. My dear brother, who knows of my love of whiskey, especially bourbon, bought a bottle of Great Northern Distilling's Vanguard Whiskey. Since he lives in Plover, we were excited to try it. The packaging was very attractive and aspired to justify the nearly $40 price. The color of the contents looked right. However, when tasted, the true nature of this swill was revealed. There was no mouth feel, the characteristic pleasant coating a good whiskey leaves on your taste buds. The attractive color seemed to be little more than cleverly tinted food coloring. My suspicion is this distilled product being passed off as high quality whiskey is little more than whiskey flavored vodka. When he made this purchase my brother was told Great Northern Distilling is scheduled to be at Distill America in Madison in Feruary, 2015. If this is the sort of crap they intend to pour they will get laughed out of town.

What a great place! A must see stop while traveling through Central Wisconsin. We plan our trips accordingly.

I have been on a distillery tour through the Midwest and finally had the opportunity to stop in at Great Northern. My experience was matched by no others, it was truly a fantastic experience. I loved looking around there beautiful distillery almost as much as I loved their drinks. The people at Great Northern are what makes this place a one of a kind destination in the Stevens Point area. I highly recommend stopping in a trying some of their amazing spirits.

Thank you for the extraordinary fine Potato vodka. It is nice to have a Polish-style vodka that is distilled in the USA. One of my Chicago friends has a summer home near Plover, and she introduced me to Great Northern Distilling. Am waiting for your Polish Blackberry Brandy. Thanks again, Dr. G. B. C.

Must haves...Moscow Mule and Gin n Tonic. Trendy place for those who like a different spin on old recipes. The gin is not a piney gin but instead an herbal masterpiece. The vodka is some of the best potato vodka out there. Service is spotty but the mixologists are excellent. Make it a destination!

Absolutely great care and effort put into a blend of traditional and experimental cocktails. These guys care about booze. Easily one of my favorite places to catch a drink in the area, so many unique and tasty drinks. Rumbo and whiskey sour's are must trys

Our experience was a toss-up. The whiskey drinks were sooooo good--easily one of the best mixed drinks I've had in ages. Not sugary--great balance. We walked in just after 9PM on a Saturday night to a busy but manageable crowd. Even though there were 3 bartenders, and we stood right in front of them, we weren't acknowledged for at least 10 minutes. We didn't get service until we protested as another group walked in and were immediately granted a bartender's attention. Really not sure what is going on with the service--and the bartender who ended up grabbing our drinks seemed to be on the ball following up with us afterwards for the second round, but I was disappointed enough to come back and leave this comment.
