Great Oaks Tavern

First time here. The outside appearance does not do it justice. Plain and unassuming. But inside the staff and food are amazing! Very cordial hostess, and great suggestions and waitressing by Emily H. The home made tots were incredible, followed by a delicious salad and bar b que platter, everything was so good we had to have dessert! We don't live close, but we are definitely coming back to try the Fall menu. Everything was so flavorful. Definitely give this place a try!

OK, this place is amazing! We came here today for the first time! We just looked at the menu and thought the burgers looked good! We had no idea you could rent games at your table! It was so much fun! They have games for ages 3-99! Our waitress was so nice finding games for my 3 year old! We can't wait to come back!

Very warm and welcoming staff. Knowledgable of the menu and able to provide great recommendations for new comers. I recommend the Mediterranean Mezze. The lamb meatball are juicy, slammed with flavor and pair excellent with the “star of the show” an unexpected contender - whipped beet and feta. Can’t go wrong with the brunch classic - chicken and waffles topped with hot honey and maple syrup. Classic grilled cheese with bacon, I requested they add chicken. In the Chili world there are two sides . The one who says chili requires beans and the wrong side 😂 these guys fall under the latter. Still packed with flavor just not my cup of tea. Over all 5/5

I was so pleasantly surprised to see that this space is a board game joint. Tons of board games to play or not. The food was very good. Service was excellent . I’ll def be back!

Stopped here for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon. The place was not crowded. They have quite a few board games that you can play during your time here. There is a bar area and ample seating inside. They have a dozen beers on tap plus seasonal cocktails. The menu consists of appetizers, salads, and sandwiches. I had a gyro, and my wife tried the Italian sub sandwich. Both were good. Our server, who was also the bartender, was attentive and friendly.

fresh good food, highly recommend the Tuesday board game nights where you can meet a lot of fun people while eating some good food and drinking well. Great to bring old friends too to catch up and always a fun family activity, I don't even know how many board games they possibly have. if you can think of one it's probably somewhere on the shelf! highly recommend the pesto chicken sandwich and the pretzel bites - if you're getting a whole pretzel be prepared for something twice as big as your entire head though!

I found this place here on Google Maps. My wife and I stopped by for lunch on our way to Cbus. This was our first visit and it is definitely on our list to visit again. We had the house made Tots as an app. They had a great range of flavors. My wife had the tavern burger and house made chips and said the burger is one of the best she’s ever had. I went with the smash burger and it was fantastic. The beer was cold and the wait staff friendly. We can’t wait to stop again and try other items from the menu.

Just sat at the bar. I didn't order any food this time, but from what I could see the food looked great. Our bartender Megan was awesome! She was fun to talk to and was always making sure we didn't need anything. There are a ton of different board games that you can sit at a table and play. No billiard tables or dart boards as of yet. I definitely plan on stopping in again.

The food is amazing! Menu items are creative and delicious. The smoked meats are perfect. The atmosphere is friendly and fun. We came for a trivia night, but there's always board games to play as well. Always a great time.

Food was over priced and not good at all. Service was average. My wife and I were going to have dessert, but since we couldn't find our waitress for about 20 minutes, we decided not to. The appetizer was good with stuffed peppers and French onion soup and the bisque. I ordered the special which was for shrimp in a pasta broth. For $57 are you kidding me? I didn't know the price before I ordered it my my bad I could've had either carrots or squash. The carrots were cold very disappointed.

My husband and I came here on a Friday night a few weeks ago and sat at the bar. The restaurant has a board game theme and gives you the option to pay a fee to play their games. The selection is extensive. We opted not to play and to just sit at the bar. The bartender was fairly friendly and made some helpful recommendations. We chose to share a salad with house-made white French dressing, the chicken papri-tots, the smash burger with chips, and added their homemade chip dip. They split the salad in the back so we each had our own plate. That was a nice touch. As for the dinners - neither of us was impressed with the papri-tots. The meat was very dry and the flavor was just ok. We didn't finish them and didn't care to take them home with us. The smash burger was really good and we both enjoyed it. The chips and dip were also tasty. The menu had a lot of good choices and I think we'd come back to try some others. The interior was spacious and there was lots of parking available.

This was so good. I meant to take a pic of the food but accidentally ate it too fast bc it was so good. I got the Antihero burger (seasonal) and I definitely recommend it. Wife got the CD BCC and it was also great kind of sweeter fried chicken sandwich.

Brunch We stopped here to get brunch from reading other reviews. You walk in and seat yourself. Then you scan the table code for virtual menu. We ordered a breakfast burrito, kids hamburger, kids Mac n cheese and French toast dippers. The menu seemed creative. The breakfast burrito was good but spicy. It also had potatoes in it and on the side. I wish it would have come with a salad to embrace the brunch concept. The kids meals seemed small but and they ate it all up. The restaurant has a game theme to it with lots of games to play. They have a family section of games and then a larger section of other styles.

Very low key feel. Brunch was good. Open hall sort of seating style. I got the chicken and waffles. Good pricing. I also had two pomegranate mimosas. They were short staff the day I was there so things naturally moved at a slower pace. Thorough service though. This is a good spot for a low key, satisfying meal.

We went for Trivia the other night, which was fun! However, the food was another story. My Caesar salad came out with little to no dressing on it and I was charged 50 cents per additional dressing cup. The sides of dressing were in what looked like 1 oz cups only half full. Their Bavarian Pretzel is $16, $18 if you want beer cheese with it. The beer cheese had a banana after taste that made it unbearable. Their sweet potato tots were soggy when they came out as well. We were also told the board games were $5 per person, per game.

Our friends invited us out for dinner and this was the spot. Very happy they switched it up from our normal meet up. Walk in to a wall of board games that only cost $5 to play. We started with a round of delicious cocktails. All we're great and I had the blackberry lemonade. Went down a bit too fast as it was very refreshing. Next onto the mini corn dogs and mini quesadillas. My choice of the two were the corn dogs. Just a couple bites to eat them, but filling and flavorful. A unique corn casing as well. Entrees were soon to follow and. The BAAAD salad my friend had so many nuts and tasty chicken. I had the chicken pesto panini on sourdough. It was a nice blend of flavors and nothing overbearing. We will be back!!!

My first time here and it did not disappoint! I got a summer drink, the blackberry basil lemonade, which was light and refreshing and I also got the smoked peach Cobb salad which was also really good !

Made a call in order tonight and even though the dining room and bar was packed, my large order came out on time and without errors. I had the Jerk Smoked Turkey Breast sandwich for the first time. Definitely not a boring turkey sandwich. Tons of flavor! Smoky and just the right amount of spice and heat without going overboard. If you haven't had it... get it!

I don't venture out too much this way, but it's a nice little spot in Wadsworth. We stopped out this early Sunday afternoon for brunch. I had chicken and waffles, the wife had some sort of scramble (can't remember the name) and the boy had the breakfast burger (with egg on it). The food was good. I'd eat here again. My only complaint was the pop was flat. I didn't press the issue, it can happen anywhere. The neat thing about this place is you can play one of their 1,000 board/card games. Some days it's free, some days you have to pay $5 to partake. Service was quick and friendly. Prices were not bad either. Eat here if you're out this way.

Had a lot of fun here with friends! Ate the smoked wings.......delicious! Ordered a dry rub instead of a sauce and was very pleased. The dry rub was an excellent compliment to the smoked wings. Our server was attentive and helpful...kept the water glasses filled. While I didn't eat any of the buttermilk chicken tenders, my friend said they were amazing. Tip: reservations can be made here, which you need to in case you want to come on a Thursday night when they have trivia.

Randomly stopped here while driving through and was pleasantly surprised! I ordered the shredded jackfruit sandwich and enjoyed every bite. There were a few other vegetarian options which was refreshing. Also loved all the games! Wish we had more time to hang and play. If we'l ever find ourselves in the area, we'll stop by!

Must order their soft pretzel, the three of us finished it off pretty quickly. The mustards were good, beer cheese was average. I ordered the tatchos and they were A+. Overall service and food was worth the drive.

5 dollars per person to play 5 dollar games... this is crazy... food choices are horrible. No wonder the bowling alley is closed

We waited for an hour and never got our food. The waitress only came to our table once in that time to say our food would be out soon. The table that came in and ordered after us got their food. We asked for our bill for our drinks and the waitress never brought it so I looked up the price online and left them cash. While walking out a worker came out and yelled at us "are you going to pay for your beer!?" I told him, "the money is on the table." The fact that our waitress never came to apologize for the wait and the possible "manager" accused us of walking out without paying, speaks for their customer service. I was also going to place a to go order after my meal but hey...I'll take my business elsewhere.

Food was delicious. Service was quick friendly and informative. I guess my only food complaint is need more cheese options. My only complaint about the place itself is the bathroom door needs fixed. We enjoyed the brisket sandwich, the burger and the sweet potato tots. We will be back!

This is a pickup review not dine in. The food was very good. I have celiac and was worried about GF options. Based on other reviews we decided to try it. The only downside was that not all items mentioned in the reviews were listed in the online order menu, hence a phone call to Great Oaks. The staff I talked to on the phone were very pleasant and helpful. There were enough GF options to choose from so all of us were happy. We had to add to the order after it was placed and they were very accommodating. We will definitely order from here again.

A really cool hangout! Bar foods and board games! I liked the burger I ordered, but it was really busy when we were there and service suffered. Everyone was nice but we kinda felt forgotten about.

Yesss, a wonderful restaurant in Wadsworth! Love the renovation. This is a great place to visit with friends or bring kids. They provide a variety of different board games, which is super fun. The food is awesome, I loved the seasonal menu with the moms sandwich, the goat cheese and jam were delicious. There are tons of items I would also try. The pretzel is an obvious winner and the beer cheese tastes sooo good with just about any item on the menu, The fries are great but the white mac and cheese as a side was excellent. The service was great, thank you to Auriel for always being wonderful! We purposely come to request Auriel because she always provides excellent and quick service. The drinks were great too! Also hoping they add a few more dessert options because I bet they could make some pretty good stuff! Thank you great oaks tavern!!

The first gaming cafe I've ever went to. I love the selection of board games available on their super stocked shelves. I also think their menu items complement the relaxing atmosphere that the owners are going for. The host that seated us also acted as a game master in case we had any questions of regarding any games that we wanted to try. It'd be easy to spend an entire afternoon here playing games with family or friends while sipping on a beer. Playing games adds $5 on the tab at the end of the visit, which is totally worth it. I played Exploding Kittens with a group of friends. Fortunately it was a game I played before, so I didn't have any questions for the game master. I ordered a bowl of chicken wings and a pretzel. The pretzel was a smashing deal and the chicken wings were pretty good. The beer selection was good. The only thing that confuses me is that I couldn't find Cards of Humanity of all games on their shelves.

Stopped in for a late lunch. Food was good my bbq burger was a bit over done (ordered medium), but the pulled pork on it was tasty.

Our food and drinks are always spot on whether we're a party of 2 or 10. Their breakfast Sammie's are phenomenal and we love their salads! Trivia Night is always a good time! A must try for sure!

Games are pricey, but food is actually pretty good. I really enjoyed the hummus! The pretzel was not salty or buttery enough for me though. Drinks are good!

Ordered our burgers well done and had to send them back twice. Waited over 30 minutes to get burgers back. Still not right but ate them anyway as we were starving. Well done burgers shouldn't be difficult. Service was OK. Appetizer was the best part of the meal

Yesssss. I had no idea a place like this exsist a around us. The games are amazing and the food.... omgosh is not just a plus.. is the reason to go. Yes can't believe how delicious their menu options were. THIS IS A HIDDEN GEM!! I almost don't want to share :) but after talking to one of the owners, they were so amazing and kind I can't help but wa t to share this with everyone! Anything smoked is insanely delicious, we tried the wings and they are drool worthy. The burgers are insane. I can't wait to go back!!

This tavern is a must experience for everyone. The unique idea of having a variety of board games for all interest and levels will keep you from ever leaving. Aside from all the board games, the Great Oaks Tavern has a full bar and tasty menu. The burgers are cooked to perfection and the shareable options are great for any party. Everything from the service to the food was spot on. The staff and owners are one of the nicest people I have ever been around. This is the perfect spot for any date. I look forward to coming back.

1st time eating here and I was disappointed with the food. I ordered beer battered perch and the fish I got was NOT beer battered. We found the pulled pork to be on the dry side. The burger was overcooked. Service was very slow.

Great board game place that has a full service bar. I would steer towards their snack food and not the burgers. The burgers seemed to be frozen store bought or overcooked to seem that way.

We absolutely love this little bar. I live within the area and frequently see the parking lot packed at night! Normally we visit during the day for day drinking on the weekends. Their chicken fingers are to die for with the hot honey sauce. Free board games on Sundays! Cocktails are amazing and the drink menu changes regularly. Craft beer selections to match the season and usually local to Cleveland!

We had my mothers memorial service there, and they did the catered the food for us provided a lovely room off to the side, which was private, the service, and the food was excellent

A little disappointed with the carry out food that I got tonight. It was the first time that I have tried this place and maybe I should try it again or dine in, but the food really wasn't that good. First, it's super nice and easy to order carry out online. You pick up your food at the host stand, so I didn't see much of the inside, but the restaurant is in a small strip center and pretty unassuming. The food was very neatly packaged in cute brown cardboard boxes and we had everything that we ordered. But that's kind of where the positives end. We ordered 2 burgers and the Buffalo chicken dip. I love Buffalo chicken dip, but this one completely missed the mark. First, it's a really small portion. Second, the cheese wasn't melted on top and it was funky tasting. They use a smoked chicken which really gives it a weird taste. It is unlike any other Buffalo chicken dip that I've ever had and not in a good way. We couldn't eat it. And as far as the burgers go- they were messy and not very good. I got the smash burger which isn't a smash burger at all. It's two patties that aren't even that thin, and certainly not smashed (where you get that crusty sear). The flavor was just okay. The burgers taste smoked too, but I'm not sure if that's the case. My husband got the bbq burger and he said it was okay. We paid the $2 upcharge for the fries and, honestly, the fries were the best part of our whole meal. They have a really great looking menu, and I'd love to say that I'd try it again, but our food was so sub par that I don't know if I can give it another shot. Nothing went wrong, it just wasn't very good. Especially for the price. I gave three stars because I'm holding out hope that they do have some good food and maybe I'll find something that I like in the future.

The Porto Burger was fantastic! The service was excellent. Definitely geared to the twenty-somethings crowd. A great selection of games available.

We have lunch often at Great Oaks Tavern and we are never disappointed. The service is always good or great (depending on how busy they are) and the food is great. They smoke their own turkey, pulled pork, chicken and more. Salads are fresh and tasty, and the prices are reasonable (as reasonable as dining can be these days. Great Oaks Tavern is a great local grill and put that I would highly recommend.

Really great "bistro" style pub food. Don't pass on the smoked wings, they're amazing. I always find something new that I didn't expect. Great beer selection too. I think the thing that got me hooked was the charcuterie board (a giant soft pretzel with meats, cheeses and sauces) - always a must if you're with a group. We live in Columbus, but whenever we come home to Wadsworth, we hit Great Oaks Tavern.

Okay, this place is LEGIT, and I'm SO happy to have found it! Super friendly, helpful and rad staff! Cody was really nice and helpful when we asked what games would be good for two people. The selection of games is HUGE and I'm confident that there is something for everyone. The food was awesome: we tried the beyond burger and the bbq jackfruit sandwich. Both were great! The regular french fries were delish but the sweet potato waffle fries....chefs kiss! They came with a cinnamon butter dipping sauce, and I liked them so much, that I got a second side order. The cheese curds appetizer was also really good, a little nice spice, with a ranch dip to go with. This spot is super cool and fun - can't wait to go back with more friends!

Amazing food! Amazing service! $5 game fee per person, totally get that and all of the games I've tried so far far have been fun! (Can't wait you try with a slightly larger group sometime!!!) legitimately the ONLY complaint I've had the two times I've been? Shirley temples are a basic nonalcoholic beverage for kids, and it was umm... teaching them is ok, it's not like a thing they may make everyday, but don't try to correct me on whatever it was sent out when it came out looking almost long a Long Island iced tea (and tasting like a nonalcoholic Long Island) and I explain how to make it to the waiter... it happens, nobody knows absolutely every drink in the world... other than that... the atmosphere is AMAZING! The pretzel was delicious, the black & blue burger OMG!?! Keep up the good work y'all!!!

Food was not good, period. The chili was an obvious microwave reheat as it was barely warm. You could sub tator tots for chips which we both did and it came with sweet potato fries. We told them we ordered tots and they replied "well sometimes we sub those out." It's not even a proper sub. I hate sweet potatoes. The kitchen needs some serious work even for bar food. It all tasted like a hospital cafeteria. Not hot and seemed pre-prepared. We didn't finish our meals. Staff was great. Very friendly and attentive!!

We went there for salads & their huge soft pretzel. My husband ended up getting a pork chop dinner that was probably a special. It was so big, so juicy, so delicious and had amazing seasoning. We normally eat at fairly high end restaurants, but never have had anything this good. Don't ever let your cook/chef go... he's one in a million!
