Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery

Today I had the pleasure of visiting the Great Ocean Road Chocolate Factory, and it turned out to be a truly delightful experience. From the moment I stepped in, the place had a warm, inviting atmosphere filled with the rich aroma of freshly made chocolates. The setup was vibrant and family-friendly, with plenty to see and enjoy—from displays of handcrafted chocolates to the live chocolate-making area. I decided to try their hot chocolate along with a slice of tiramisu, and both exceeded my expectations. The hot chocolate was rich, creamy, and indulgent, perfectly balanced in sweetness, and served at just the right temperature to savor slowly. It felt like a comforting treat, especially in the cozy ambiance of the café. The tiramisu was equally impressive—light, airy, and layered with just the right amount of coffee flavor and cocoa dusting. The portion size was generous and paired beautifully with the drink. What stood out even more was the friendly staff, who were attentive and welcoming, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. Beyond the café, browsing through their wide range of premium chocolates and goodies was a treat in itself—perfect for gifts or simply to take home a piece of the experience. Overall, the Great Ocean Road Chocolate Factory is more than just a stopover—it’s an experience worth savoring. Whether for families, couples, or solo travelers, it’s the perfect spot to enjoy high-quality chocolate creations in a relaxing setting. I’ll definitely be visiting again.

Visiting the Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery was an absolute delight from start to finish. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the rich aroma of chocolate and the warm, welcoming atmosphere. The displays of handcrafted chocolates were stunning—beautifully arranged and almost too pretty to eat (though I definitely did!). The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, happy to offer samples and share the story behind their creations. Watching the chocolatiers work behind the glass windows added a special touch that made the experience feel both educational and indulgent. The ice cream was another highlight—creamy, full of flavor, and clearly made with high-quality ingredients. I tried the honeycomb crunch and the passionfruit sorbet, and both were absolutely delicious. The outdoor seating area was a lovely spot to relax and enjoy the scenic surroundings. There was also plenty for families and kids to enjoy, from the open lawns to seasonal events. Overall, it was a fantastic stop along the Great Ocean Road and one I’d happily return to. If you love chocolate, ice cream, or just a sweet day out, this place is a must-visit.

Such an amazing spot. Very family orientated and a very popular spot with kids enjoying the interactive aspects. Stopped for lunch along my drive to SA and service was fast and friendly. Pups enjoyed a pupachinno and my lunch was world class. Thank you for this wonderful dining experience/ rest break and making the pups welcome.

Very nice table service and delicious cakes. Some employees look tired, but this is a question for management. All employees work to the limit. At the checkout with a breakdown of products, we approached the first, but a bus came up with tourists and this crowd was served first, which I did not like and I just refused the test. All purchased products were delicious.

If you’re travelling along the Great Ocean Road, this is an absolute must-stop! 🍫✨ The Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery is a chocolate lover’s paradise. They’ve got an incredible variety of chocolates, including themed ones like the Dubai Chocolate, and so many unique flavours to try or gift. The place itself is beautifully set with a cosy café, lovely garden views, and a peaceful atmosphere that makes you want to linger. The staff are friendly, welcoming, and always ready to offer samples or explain the making process.

We took a drive down to the Chocolaterie and it was AMAZING! I felt like I had stepped into Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory! I loved that you can see the staff making and producing the products that you find on the shelf. It was reasonably priced and the staff were so helpful when assessing allergens and dietary requirements.

We went there for birthday celebration and did the high tea. High tea was amazing best one that we have been to. Staff were very attentive and welcoming. Had a great time. Even allowed us to take home a doggy bag!

A great place for families — delicious chocolates and a huge range of ice cream flavours (must-try!), plus the famous 1 m chocolate. The big park area is perfect for kids to play while you enjoy a treat.

It's a great start to the Great Ocean Road day trip to Lorne. We tried all of the ice cream flavors, we watched some chocolates being made, we even got a free cooler bag (spent 100 AUD). The customer service was great, although I noticed the man behind the ice cream counter was a bit annoyed with people, I think maybe because no one knew what flavor ice cream they wanted, or maybe because I wanted to sample all the flavors. Either way I could see him whispering things under his breath which was off putting. But I still got the ice cream because how could you pass up the honeycomb ice cream?!?! The chocolates were available in all different varieties and forms. I was a little overwhelmed and felt like Charlie and the chocolate factory! I did end up spending 100 AUD for gifts to bring home... hopefully they travel well back to the states!!

This amazing place offers the widest and most delicious range of chocolate and ice cream in the whole of Australia. The staff give you generous servings of ice cream and the chocolate tastes superb! This was definitely my favourite part of our family road trip!

Points to the GOR Chocolaterie for recognizing a great business proposition. It's located along the Great Ocean Road and was packed with tourists the weekend I visited. The large space is an excellent place for gift shopping. My personal fav for gifts were the chocolate bars seasoned with native Australian botanical. In addition to more chocolate than you can imagine, there is also gelato, a truffle counter, and windows allowing visitors to peer into the chocolate making process. The Chocolaterie also advertised free chocolate, which I love in theory. And I totally sampled against, perhaps, my better judgement. Mini chocolate buttons in the milk, white, and dark variety were stacked high in massive containers at the front entrance, with helpful notes like, don't fill up a bowl with these free samples. (Which I am zero percent surprised that people have attempted this sly chocolate maneuver.) And, while they do provide spoons for the sampling, I also know the general public well enough that I will also be zero percent surprised by people shoving their hands directly in to claim fist-fulls of chocolate. So I have no idea how they are managing the sanitary food handling of this endeavor. Overall, I'm sure they will be racking in the cash and I imagine it's a place I will stop when on another GOR trip. But when I visited, it was so crowded and overwhelmed with tourists, I can't say the experience was enjoyable.

Awesome chocolatier along the great ocean road. Packed with tourist and for a good reason - the chocolate and ice cream is great! I got shot of liquid chocolate and chocolate ice cream - chocolate overload. Cute little green space outside for kids to play too!!

I am happy to drive 140 Ks from Melbourne to Anglesea every weekend just to try their Eclaire.

Was on a road trip from Melbourne and this was advertised as a great breakfast stop. It definitely wasn't worth the hype. The mocha was too sweet, and the food itself was overpriced and mediocre. We were looking for a quick, good bite to eat before continuing on the road to Apollo Bay, trying to make stops along the way while we had daylight, but we ended up spending about an hour because of slow service for two chocolate waffles which tasted like they were pre-packaged, frozen waffles. I would not recommend this place as a necessary stop as part of your Great Ocean Road itinerary. You would get better food and service at some of the smaller cafes along the way.
