This is an excellent location for exploring Great Sand Dunes National Park, just a few miles away. In fact, the park entrance is quite close. You can see the dunes from the Lodge, except that utility lines prevent the perfect photo. The views overall west are awesome for sunsets. Our room was spacious and well appointed. Wifi was good. Each room has a patio facing the Dunes. There is a restaurant open during the main tour season, but closed when we visited in late October. This is important as the nearest options are at least 30 minutes away. With that, we packed our own food in a cooler for the stay, which worked great.

This is a wonderful place to stay at Great Sand Dunes National Park. Our room was clean, roomy and functional with a full kitchen. The staff was very friendly and addressed all our requests with a smile. Breakfast opens at 7:30am and has mostly waffles, yogurt, pastries and cereal. I did see someone cooking eggs and bacon on the waffle machine. Eggs and bacon are not provided by the Lodge. Bed was very comfortable and AC/Heat worked great. There is a separate restaurant adjacent to the property, but they closed for the season at the end of September. The local store has frozen meals and other stuff. We would stay here again.

Clean, comfy, and very close to the park. We stayed in the family suite with a mini kitchen. It had a larger fridge than most hotel rooms and had means to prepare basic meals. It was a bit overpriced, but was so convenient to the park and included breakfast with waffles and burritos. I would definitely recommend. Be warned that the closet grocery store is in Alamosa-40 min away.

If want fast access the Sand Dunes, this is the place to stay. The rooms have a private porch with a table so you can enjoy the sunsets. There is also a little play area for the kids. We enjoyed the breakfast at the Lodge more than any of the hotels we visited. Staff treated you like family. We rented our sand boards from the Lodge rather than down at the store.

This property is an overpriced run down motel. The door to the room needed painting, the patio door was very difficult to open, the bed had a sweat like odor, there was a dusty animal trap outside the patio door, the screen door had a hole, and small flying insects were in the room. The breakfast was okay. The check in lady was nice and the view of the dunes was fantastic. This is the only option if you want to stay near the dunes, so be prepared.

Would highly recommend staying at the lodge. Rooms are very clean, quiet, and close the park entrance. The view from the patio is gorgeous! Great view of the dunes. Here’s an FYI on the food situation. The restaurant closed at 5:30. Asked about their “take and bake” pizza, only to be informed it would take 30 minutes to heat the oven and an additional 20 mins to cook. If you’re like us and would rather spend your time at the park instead, bring your own food. The grab & go breakfast included trays to take food back to your room but no bags were available to take on the run.

Overall, one of the best spots to stay, with immediate access to the Great Sand Dunes. Domes and Travel Trailers are a little closer than they appear in the pix, but nothing awful. Bathrooms with a hot shower is only a short walk away from those. Look forward to visiting again.

We spent one night at great Sand dunes Lodge. The room was definitely two star and be sure to bring food with you for dinner. We got there at 4:10 in the afternoon. The restaurant in front of the lodge closed at 4 o’clock. Fortunately, they had a pack of hotdogs that we were able to cook at the lodge on a gas grill. That was all fine, but it would’ve been good to know ahead of time so we could’ve brought food in. The air conditioning was extremely loud in the room, making it difficult to sleep. The view of the dunes was amazing, and that is clearly what the price of the room was for.
