"Many of the Smoky Mountains’ earliest tourists came here to shop from local craftsmen, popularized by the Pi Beta Phi women’s fraternity that chose supporting these mountain folk artists as their cause. In 1912, the women established a public school for the local children, evolving into the Arrowmont School of Arts of Crafts that persists today. Centuries-old trades continue to be passed down, and visitors willfind woodworking, basket weaving, ceramics, and metalworks created in the same manner they have for generations. An organized eight-mile loop road includes stops at 120 artists' studios and workshops, many with live demonstrations. Travel it at your leisure, or break it up over several days as you discover this thriving remnant of the culture that shaped Southern Appalachia."

A wonderful variety of items for sale. We just drove from place to place and were pleasantly surprised at the variety of items for sale. The people were friendly and engaged us in conversation. We were able to watch some of the artists create their magnificent crafts. I appreciated that there was ample parking at each site, as well as restrooms available for use. We came back with several items we were not aware we needed 😀. A great way to step away from the bustle of the towns and just enjoy the talented craftsmanship of the locals.

The Gatlinburg art district has so many wonderful artisans. You can see exactly how things are made, and some of the stores even offer hands-on classes.

There are a ton of small business artesians within this 8 mile loop. The community offers unique shops such as goat milk soaps and lotions, broom makers, wood carving, glass blowing, and even a old school soda fountain. It's away from the business of downtown Gatlinburg and is a hidden gem for sure.

Wonderful area with many artists to visit. We found lovely pottery, jewelry, & lotion. But there are so many other things to enjoy: woodworking, glass blowing, candles, textiles, leather work, paintings , etc. If you are in the area, plan to spend day going from shop to shop on this loop. It is well worth your time. 🙂

The community is great. It starts in one area and then follow signs and drive through. There are so many talented artists. It is worth going to visit. I loved them all. So just follow the signs and stop when you find stuff that peaks your creative interest

So many local artists and craftsman... leatherwork, gems, clothing, candles, soaps, glassware, pottery, jewelry, dye your own colored silk scarf and more... each shop is its own and the parking is convenient to each little group of shops. There is a spot with sauces and dips (so good) few little eats and places to dine along the way. Beautiful nature scenery everywhere.

Really neat little shops in multiple areas out Glades Rd. Gatlinburg, TN, with several different types of gifts. If you are into art, there are some very nice pictures. I didn't get any inside pictures, but it was so cute outside and decorated so pretty for fall.
