Great Smoky Mountains has been a vacation destination for over 50 years. Nothing has changed inside the park once your away from Gatlinburg. Stay away from downtown and Pigeon Forge unless you like large crowds, souvenir shopping and heavy traffic. Lots of trails to hike, wildlife and scenery photography is endless.

Smoky Mountains consistently ranks at the top of the most visited NP list for good reason. This is the largest park on the east coast and perfect for families, couples and adventurers of all types. Fall colors were glorious. Hiking, walking and just taking in the beauty of this area. What a gift to all of us to have a place like this to visit. It was perfect. We went early in the morning and beat the crowds but even if crowded this is a place to go. Beautiful. Smoky Mountains consistently ranks at the top of the most visited NP list for good reason. Absolutely breathtaking and massive national park. The trails were so cool, waterfalls weee beautiful. So many to pick from, we will have to go back. Saw many rivers and bears and just had an amazing time. Started at Sugarlands entrance and there is a waterfall right there

We spent four days camping in the Great Smoky Mountains and were blown away by the beauty of this national treasure. Every trail we hiked offered something special stunning views, peaceful forests, and the feeling of truly connecting with nature. One of the highlights was Cades Cove, a must-see area with an 11-mile scenic loop and a high chance of spotting black bears (we saw several!). It was an unforgettable part of our trip. The only reason I’m giving 4 stars is because the gift shops at the visitor centers were a bit disappointing. For such a popular and iconic national park, the selection felt limited and lacked quality or unique souvenirs to bring home. We were hoping to find something special to remember the trip by, but ended up leaving empty-handed.

I think this is this the busiest, most commercialized national park area I have been to besides the Grand Canyon in the US. The parts in and around Gatlinburg is the one park in the nation that feels like it sold out to commercialism...we'll I guess at least its proximity does. Once you break away from the chaos of Gatlinburg or Pidgeon Forge nature takes over and there are a lot of beautiful trails, hikes, and waterfalls to feel like an escape. Expect lots or vehicle and foot traffic, still its quite nice.

Beauty cannot truly be captured in pictures or videos; they simply don’t do it justice. That said, here are a few glimpses. Welcome to the city of bears, where I’ve had two close encounters with them.

The Great Smoky Mountains are beautiful and majestic and a must not be missed when in this area of Tennessee! There is a wonderful route that you can drive along that has plenty of stops that are very picturesque and perfect for taking a few snaps and seeing all the different views that the Smoky Mountains have to offer. There are tons of places where there are wild elk grazing along the route people are stopped everywhere on the side to take pictures so beware when you're driving along go the speed limit and keep your eyes on the road even when the views are great . During my self-guided audio tour I also learned that throughout the driving tour on 441 There are pullouts that are quiet paths. Each of these quiet paths are wheelchair/stroller accessible and tend to be 1 mi or less and should take the average person about 30 minutes to complete. These quiet paths really are very beautiful and a breathtaking way to be able to immerse yourself in the Great Smoky Mountains if you've only got a couple of hours to see this national park. Great Smokey Mountains National Park is not to be missed! Might be a new favorite!
