Extremely friendly service in a very small restaurant with a sign claiming they have been serving food for nearly 130 years. Perhaps that's true. Perhaps that's true even at this location, as it was a large area of which a small section of it had been modernized and updated. All the menu photos posted here are 6-7 years old and don't reflect the current menu options, which are far fewer. Limited menu options consisting of pastries and then some chicken wraps. Cash accepted, possibly credit cards and e-wallet payments as well.
Indoor seating is air conditioned but there's only about six tables, each designed for two people. Very awkward for larger groups, if not impossible.
Wraps are a Sri Lankan thing and while the menu for this place advertises four of them, they only had chicken available today. Wrapped in banana leaves, it's a packet of rice, a piece of grilled chicken, and a variety of side condiments ranging from a hard boiled egg that has then been fried, to some sweet chutneys and some more vegetable-y concoctions. Generally you mix this all together thoroughly and, if you want to be local, eat it with your right hand (NEVER your left hand). They thoughtfully provided me with a fork as I'm obviously not likely a native.
I prefer to keep each of the condiments separate to both determine the respective flavor profiles and then alternate between them. The chicken was tender enough, the rice is flavorful and when mixed with the condiments is even more so.
A good example of a classic Sri Lankan dish, but I feel like you could probably get a similar meal for a much smaller price tag elsewhere. Still, it's about $3 USD for a chicken wrap that is enough to fill you up, so it's hard to complain! Small selection of juices and bottled water or bottled coffee for beverages. Service is really friendly!
