Green Chilitos

This food is just plain amazing. I’ve been to Mexico twice ( not the resorts) and this is the same food you would get at a top restaurant in Mexico City or Oaxaca. The freshest ingredients, prepared expertly and with care. The mole sauce was incredible, the salsas were definitely homemade, and the bean dip divine. Highly recommended as one of the best in Fairfield. It’s a small unassuming place, not fancy. Don’t let that fool you. It’s real, fresh, great food.

I was excited to try Green Chilitos for the first time and the experience was even better than I thought it would be. Carlos made us feel welcome the minute we walked in. The amazing salsas and bean dip he presented with the chips gave us a sign that we were in for a treat. Our dinner lived up to expectations and was just like the food we had in Mexico. We thoroughly enjoyed our chicken mole (real mole!) and cheese enchiladas with red and green sauce. We walked out feeling like we had been there before and we can’t wait to go back.

The food here is soooo good and fresh ! I had the cheese and birria tacos and my fiance had the chicken and shrimp quesadillas. Everything was good to perfection and the salsa and chips are so fresh you can taste it .

Carlos the owner had a vision and wanted to share it with others. We came on the high stars and left very happy. The food was delicious and drinks were amazing! We look forward to coming here again as will be added to the weekly rotation.

Great new discovery, just off of 95! Food was delicious and made to order. Ordered takeout but dine-in is available, would definitely recommend the steak tacos, burrito, or beef and cheese birria tacos, they were all delicious! The owner was extremely kind and helpful, definitely will be coming back soon, a new go-to for Mexican in Fairfield.

Wow - These 5-star reviews are spot on. Just had the Carnitas platter with homemade Mole sauce. My wife had the Tinga Chicken platter. So so good. Lots of homemade items to choose from. Salsas are delicious too. We will be back. Check it out!

Don't be fooled by the look from the outside, and forgive the washed out menus. (maybe they fixed that. by now) This is no takeout spot, but a hidden gem homestyle restaurant with delicious and well seasoned dishes. We particularly love the chilaquiles, the ribs, and the other entrees. Although the American staples are all there, anyone familiar with Green Chilitos will avoid that and focus on their homestyle cuisine, which is hard to find in CT, and well executed.

YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS PLACE!!! The food is amazing! I was there with my sister and boyfriend and each one of us said our food was the best we've ever had. Most importantly, the owner was the sweetest person and you can tell he cared so much about not only the quality of the food but also that we were happy. He appreciated our business and we appreciated the level of hospitality. Do not overlook this place, PLEASE SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS!!

(Today, Thu 1/25/24) Welp! It was SO good that we had to come and check it out in person! Hubs had the chicken enchiladas with molé sauce, I had the crunchy tacos with crab (a little bit like crab rangoon)), we tried a pineapple mango drink - everything was SO SO GOOD!! Yup - will be coming here Aplenty! (Wed 1/24/24) Just ordered delivery from here - DE-LISH!! Got a new fave now! We got the shrimp quesadilla and the chicken molé platter - fresh, and good portions, seriously so good - DEFINITELY going to be visiting in person! (Very interested in checking out their breakfast!)

Went here for the first time after reading good reviews. As described by others, the food is actually outstanding. It's basically just solid Mexican but a little elevated with some nice touches, such as homemade corn tortillas for the tacos and notably good salsas, three of which are provided at no cost along with chips when you sit down. The inside is very barebones but has a few tables if you don't want to eat outside. No alcohol but the fruit juices are worth trying (mango + pineapple) and pair perfectly with the food. Will definitely come back when I'm in the area.

EXCELLENT tacos, some of the best in the area. I'd recommend take out since it's a small place, but man the flavor is mighty. The beef birria tacos were super flavorful, and the consommé had an almost Indian inspired flavor to it. Really delicious. The grilled chicken tacos are similarly great when smothered with salsa. So good it's worked its way into the restaurant rotation.

The food was excellent; better than expected. Service was attentive and friendly. Ambiance was authentic and small. Lots of takeout.

Absolutely TO DIE FOR!! I wish I had tried this place sooner. Got the chicken tinga platter, everything was flavorful and made with love! Horchata delish, chips and salsa delish.

Good things come to those who wait! I've been watching the action at this location for the new restaurant taking over and it was, to my surprise, Mexican cuisine. Not many authentic mexican places in the area so it seems this may fill a niche. The place has been only open a few days from the time of this review. Everybody has growing pains, so be patient. After perusing the printed menu (the wall menu wasn't up yet) I chose a burrito and had a chance to speak with Carlos, the owner. He spoke at length about his interest in food and providing a customer connection in both food and service. While waiting for my food, he provided a cool watermelon drink gratis. If you gauged the meal solely on weight, this would be like 50 stars! It was a packed carnitas burrito along with a side of lettuce and cheese and guac. The taste did not disappoint. Although not cheap at $14, it could have been two meals here. I was more than satisfied. Next time (oh, there will be a next time) I think I might try a platter or collection of soft tacos. I'm wishing Green Chilitos all the best! N.B. Plenty of parking here usually during lunchtime, not much parking at night. Although there are seats indoors and out, think about ordering ahead. Also, you can park on the post road for pick up (or dine in) instead of fighting for a parking space.

Had an amazing take-out order from Green Chilitos. It was ready in about 15 minutes. All the food was delicious. We had Enfrijoladas with black bean sauce; Carnitas Burrito; and Mexican Pizza Carnitas. All dishes tasted so fresh. Portions were large -- we only ate half of each dish. Going to have delicious left-overs tomorrow.

A sleeper takeout spot you don't want to miss. Was actually debating even writing a review because I don't want everyone to find out about this place. Puts all other Mexican spots to shame in the area. Food quality is outstanding. Chicken tortilla soup was so rich and delicious. We had the trio of dips with buffalo chicken, a guac salsa and black bean, which were all so fresh. I will definitely be ordering the chorizo quesadilla and chicken tinga platter again. Can't wait to order again.

So pleased with this new Mexican restaurant in Fairfield. My husband and I stopped by here for lunch. Greeted by a friendly server who was quick to provide us with free crispy tortilla chips and 3 dips. All the dips were very fresh with unique flavors. Our favorite was the warm bean dip. Our meals were loaded with delicious rice, beans, cheese and sauces. This restaurant is a must try for authentic Mexican fresh dishes. We will definitely be returning.

Delicious! Had a craving for Mexican food since moving from So Cal and Green Chilitos was nearby. We are SO happy to have found this place - the food is fantastic! Really fresh, authentic, and terrific flavors. The owner was super nice. Can't wait to return!

Kid wanted Gai Jai chicken. Drove all the way down to find out they went out of business. After some tears, she agreed to try the place that opened up in its place, Green Chillitos. We tried the Chicken Tinga platter, the carnita platter, and shrimp Platter. The Carnitas was the best damn carnitas I've ever had. Many times it's bland, or greasy. This was neither. Seasoned well and texture was perfect. The chicken Tinga had that awesome char flavor with the sauce they use. The rice,.Pico de Gallo, and guacamole all seemed fresh and packed a great flavor. He gave us each a drink. Hochata (think a drinkable rice pudding), mango pineapple drink, and a Jamaican sorrel flower drink. All extremely tasty. He also gave us a sample of their sauces (green, red, and mole). All really good. Great addition to the food scene here. Anxious to try their tacos and burritos.

Excellent, authentic Mexican food! They do a lot of take-out. Limited indoor seating but the service is always great when I dine in. Friendly people, delicious food.

The chicken tacos were amazing! The corn tortilla were perfectly crispy and the chicken was seasoned very well! Highly recommend Owner was also very kind and gave us complimentary drinks.

The food and juices were excellent. Highly recommend the pork pastor. Definitely our new go to spot for Mexican. It has a small, simple dining area but it was comfortable for a quick bite. Attentive service.

Not just another Mexican restaurant, rather a small storefront "joint" that serves huge portions of home cooked food for a great price. Being a small restaurant, the service is great. The chips and salsa are made on premises. All of the chicken dishes use whole chicken, so sometimes you get a bit of skin or dark meat. Dishes were tasty! Worth a visit for a change of pace from the usual Mexican.

Enjoyed my meal and the owner is so genuinely appreciative of us being there. We will be back. The vegetable tacos were great including the cactus. Chips and Salsas were all home made. Fantastic rustic salsa verde and red salsa (roasted tomato) had great heat

Green Chilitos is by far the best Mexican food in Fairfield county. It makes sense that the owner Carlos is warm, welcoming, and kind. The best food is the chicken tinga, chicken and pork pastore, birria tacos, and the chips and salsa. I cannot say enough about the superb quality of food here as well as the excellent service and care. This is definitely a hidden gem that needs to be shared with everyone.

Authentic, tasty Mexican food. Sophisticated in that it's not the usual cheese/grease bomb. You can taste the love that went into this food. Friendly owner. Reasonable prices and generous servings. It's a storefront type place so atmosphere is not fancy at all, but the food is beautifully presented with flavors to match, if you close your eyes after the first bite you'll think you're in Mexico!

Accommodating to allergies, ready in 15 minutes and tasted great. Have gotten the crispy tacos twice, platter of four tacos. It comes with an option of two sauces and the black bean one is great. Pork, chicken and steak tacos were all delicious and they're covered with lettuce, tomato, cheese and sour cream. Friendly workers

Delicious, reasonably priced food in a casual setting. We've been here several times and everything we've had has been fresh and very tasty. The burritos are enormous and absolutely great. This is a great addition to the neighborhood. Highly recommended!

First and foremost the food is incredible. It's difficult to find good Mexican in Fairfield county and this is the best I've had. The amount of Al pastor (including pineapple) flavor on the chicken was unbelievable and the gravy on the steak onions and poblanos was out of this world. The potato flautas were also very good. On top of this the owner is very nice and likeable. He gave us a pineapple juice and a horchata and those rocked too. I'm reviewing my dinner from a couple of nights ago and I'm ordering lunch from Green Chilitos today!

Authentic Mexican food! really great food, and waiter/waitress was really attentive. Chips and salsa, and two complimentary Fresh juices (watermelon and pineapple, really refreshing!) were brought out before we ordered our food. It's a small place with seatings inside and outside. Just be aware, they do not have a bathroom.

First time ordering and it was yummy! This is really a take out place, as there are only a few seats and really no atmosphere. Don't let that deter you from ordering. We had their nachos, enchiladas and a burrito. It's now my only local Mexican restaurant to order from! Go try it if you haven't yet!

This place is amazing! The food is fresh and homemade. The owner is so appreciative of all business and so sweet with amazing service. It's definitely more of a takeout spot but it's better than any nearby quick service Mexican. I can't recommend enough

The food is fresh, authentic and delicious. They are a little understaffed, so service can be slow, especially when they're busy, but the food is well worth the wait. The quality and preparation punch way above their weight for the price.
