Green ijen homestay & tour

Unfortunately, my experience with this hotel was negative due to a booking error. I accidentally selected the wrong date, and when I tried to change the reservation, it turned out that there were no available rooms on the day I needed. The cancellation policy was too strict, resulting in me losing money even though I didn't physically use the hotel's services.Despite not being able to evaluate the hotel myself, my friends who had previously stayed there spoke very highly of it. They noted the comfort and convenience of the accommodation, and also mentioned that the hotel offers trips to Mount Ijen, which is a significant advantage for travelers.Overall, although my impression was marred by an unfortunate booking experience, I hope other guests can avoid such situations and enjoy their stay at this hotel.

We had an amazing stay at Johan’s place! From the moment we arrived, Johan gave us such a warm and friendly welcome. He took the time to explain everything there is to do in the area, including how to visit Mount Ijen. He was always available — literally 24/7 — for any questions, scooter rental, or help we needed. Super kind, always smiling and full of good energy! His nephew was also a sweetheart — every morning he brought us breakfast with a big smile, made sure we were doing okay, and was always happy to chat. Both of them really made us feel at home. Johan also helped us book trains and even a ferry when our card wasn’t working. Even now, after we’ve left, he’s still helping us out when we’re in a pinch! He even showed us a “secret path” that turned out to be really helpful 😂 Honestly, our experience wouldn’t have been the same without him. He truly made our stay special and we’re so grateful. We highly recommend staying with Johan — a genuinely lovely person we hope to see again someday!

Johan was an amazing host and welcomed us into his place with a smile, we felt right at home straight away. He gave us lots of recommendations for things to do around Banyuwangi and organised our tour to Mt Ijen efficiently. Ongky is the loveliest person ever and looked after us during our stay, I couldn’t be more grateful for him. Thank you for an amazing time at your homestay!

We were very well received upon our arrival by Johan's nephew who showed us the places of interest in the city and the different tours offered by the homestay. The room was spacious and very clean. Good wifi and good air conditioning! Due to an impediment, we had to change our plans and leave a day earlier. Johan did not hesitate to reimburse us for the night and help us organize our transfer! We had a wonderful stay at Green Ijen Homestay & Tour! Johan and his nephew were incredibly kind and attentive throughout our visit. Thanks to them and their excellent guide, we had an amazing experience at Ijen – everything was well organized and reasonably priced. We also really appreciated the conversations and all the helpful advice during our three days together. Thank you again for your warm hospitality!

Johan is a really great host who takes really great care of his guests. He is a really open and friendly guy who loves to share his interesting stories and make people laugh. He makes everything possible, no matter what, he even showed us a video of how he carried a man in a wheelchair up Ijen! He has lots of great tours aside from Ijen, such as waterfalls, beaches with turtles and national parks, so you should really consider to stay a bit longer than just for Ijen. The rooms are simple but totally fine! He has a nice common area with a kitchen to have breakfast and chat. Breakfast is typically Indonesien plus fruit and it was really good. Also the WiFi was really good too. The location is also nice, not too far from the city center. We walked there and to a Chinese temple and a nice black beach. On the way, there were a lots of fruit stands and supermarkets. All in all, it is a great budget option with an incredible host, I would totally recommend!

Johan is a great host and his nephew is very nice and they are happy to help with whatever. We also did the ijen tour and had a great time.

A room with very basic conditions: you get what you payed for. Mould, no sink, no hot water, no sheets, instant noodles for breakfast. Mouedzin from 3.30 am for 1.5 hours. It’s not worth trusting the owner to provide additional services, as the entire approach seems geared towards misleading tourists and extracting as much money as possible. Quality and the conditions in which guests are placed appear to be of little concern.
