Green Papaya Taco Bar

While certain dishes like the tacos and burritos were very well done, others like the Buddha bowl were very heavily over-salted. We do not recommend the dip platter as it was easily the worst guacamole and pico we've ever had, but the bean dip was great. We were surprised to see they charged us a 10% gratuity (we expected this) and then another 20% on top for being a group of eight. It meant the automatic tip was over 30% when you did the math. The place was also cash only. For a meal for 8 people with 1 fish each and 4 shared appetizers and a round of drinks, it was $100USD a person for lunch. While price wasn't the issue, there were definitely many other places with exceptional food for the same price compared to the average food served here.

We are vegan, and we unfortunately didn’t like the food at all. My bf had the vegan stir fried tacos, which was soggy, with mash potatoes, mix of asian veggies drowned in soy sauce. The quesadillas wasn’t bad, but I didn’t really like the vegan cheese. The starter was good tho, we had the vegan ceviche with heart of palm, and the spicy sauce was very good. Wouldn’t go back tho.

We ordered the beet carpaccio w/ blue cheese crumbles and the seared ahi tuna tacos and they did not disappoint. The food and ambience was great and our server Carlos was very friendly and attentive. Happy we came on a Sunday to enjoy the half off Margaritas and taco specials.

Loved the atmosphere here. We had the beef burrito and beef enchiladas. Both were delicious and I definitely want to come back and try more. The restaurant has swings you can sit in for seating which is really fun and unique.

Our first time in Costa Rica and came to the green papaya via google reviews and wanting tacos. Luca was kind and knowledgeable and made great recommendations. Tacos were delicious and the vibe was great!

Always the best experience. Clean eats. Relatively quick for fresh food. And the drinks are great too. Mar was an excellent server. I e frequent here multiple times when we come down.

Nice restaurant for tacos, good vibes, good atmosphere. Our server was nice and friendly. We ordered the mati taco & beef Cheese quesadilla. On the pricy side, but overall recommend.

What a great place in Tamarindo! We had a great experience, our server Claudia was great! The food, amazing. Mahi tacos are incredible. The wife got vegan coconut curry veggies with rice. Margaritas are extremely good here. Cool vibe, great eat. Go here!
