"Discovering Biodiversity in Green Point Park The Green Point Park and Biodiversity Garden is tucked behind Green Point Stadium near the Atlantic seaboard. Because Cape Town (and South Africa) is a biodiversity hotspot, the creation of this park was an essential part of the 2010 World Cup planning in this area of the city. If you're curious what people are talking about when they mention "fynbos" and the "Cape Floral Kingdom", this is the place to find the answer. It’s a 12.5 hectare area that includes a rolling lawn and a fantastic biodiversity garden. There is a pond with water that flows underneath (and next to) parts of the main walkway that the kids love to run through and play in. I can tell the city invested a lot in this park, and it’s a nice place to bringing the whole family for a picnic. If you need to find a place to pick up food, try New York Bagel in Sea Point for deli style sandwiches or the Woolworths Food at the V&A Waterfront."

Beautiful, well maintained urban park in the Green Point area of Cape Town. Several play areas for children. Lots of walking trails with interpretive signage about the plantings in the biodiversity and wetland areas. The presence of a cafe in the park is a highlight! July 2, 2025 C & J

Green Point Park is one of Cape Town’s hidden gems. It’s beautifully maintained and offers something for everyone. I especially love the peaceful waterways and the view overlooking the golf course—it’s a calming escape right in the heart of the city. The birdlife is fantastic, and there’s plenty to see and explore: from educational boards and botanical displays to outdoor gym equipment and large play areas for children. It’s safe, clean, and perfect for a morning walk, weekend picnic, or just getting some fresh air. Cape Town’s very own little Central Park—seriously underrated and always worth a visit.

Green Point Park is a beautiful and relaxing place to take a walk. The pathways are well-kept, the gardens are full of colour, and there are plenty of peaceful spots to sit and unwind. I especially love taking my dog for a walk there, as it’s safe, spacious and calming. It’s perfect for a gentle stroll, a picnic, or simply enjoying the fresh air. A real gem in the city!

It is a nice place for a walk, but I found it very small and honestly a bit underwhelming. There aren’t any special plants or flowers that make it stand out, so overall, I think it’s less than average compared to other parks. It’s pleasant for a short stroll, but nothing more.

Lovely tranquil setting with lots of green lawn to picnic on, ponds, a water wheel, and space for people to relax and kids to play. Great for birthday parties and for the whole family. Parking right alongside.

One of the best open spaces in the city to go out to and enjoy the outdoors, great lawns for picnics, Indigenous gardens, outdoor splash facility for kids, outdoor gym equipment and open spaces to run, exercise or just while away the day

A beautiful big park not far away from Waterfront. There’s a lot of space for both picnics and resting at the benches around. They also have gym facilities and playgrounds. It also includes a cafe. I visited both on a weekday, when there was only a few persons in the park, and on a weekend. The Saturday I visited it was packed! A nice park to walk around in and enjoy some car free environment.

This is an absolutely lovely place to come with your family for a day outing. You still get the lovely cool breeze from the sea. There are lovely spots to sit and have a picnic and tons of entertainment options for the kids. It's also pet friendly and suitable for the elderly and disabled family members.
