If you try to book a private room here you will be scammed.
I had a reservation of a family room with supposedly a balcony and city views, split in two levels (that’s the one they use to promote their rooms on Booking and here).
When I got there the guy at the reception tricked me into to doing the check-in well aware the room I had booked and paid for was not available (so no refund from them).
I got put into a dormitory with bunk beds in the back of the hostel with a translucent door (not possible to see through without opening it, no views) to a backyard of other peoples apartments.
From the beginning the guy was very rude, telling me that there was no mistake with the room: “you get what you get”. Even knowing the room was not the one I had booked, he wouldn’t even apologise, making me feel extremely unwelcome and uncomfortable.
The next day passing by him in the morning he yelled at me for having eaten in the communal space, screaming at me to the extent I had to tell him to calm down. I was really scared and started shaking from the whole incident.
Apart from that, it is not a pet friendly hostel, not allowing your pet to stay with you in the common area.
It might look “cool” in the pictures but don’t be deceived by that. Look for something better as there are a lot of places in Cuenca, and better prices too.
I had to leave after one night in this place of fear of how I would be treated there after getting yelled at (and assigned the wrong room).
I’ve never in my life experienced, in any country, such a horrendous treatment of a guest.
