Lots of moskitos and heat in the rooms  with very little space for the overpriced rates they charge. Breakfast was standard. The view is nice. No access to sandy beaches. Half the charged price could have covered the allover package easily.

If you need the "sleep under a mosquito net", experience, this is the place. I had a good time there, and the onsite restaurant is lovely. Seafood is exceptionally fresh.

+ + +|The place is nice - remote and yet close to town (10-15 min walk). Nice garden and direct access to the sea.|The breakfast area has a stunning view and atmosphere. Rooms and lounge areas are nicely furnished. ||- - -|Many mosquitoes that come through the window slits (nets in front). No aircon. Cleaning is poor to none even though we asked for it. Personal uncharming. Breakfast below hostel quality. (It’s a hotel) Rolls close to uneatable. ||!!!|Hidden costs:|Rates plus 10%VAT|Plus a fantasy fee of 3,5 % !!! surcharge for payment with creditcard (usually not more than 1,5%)

We were not sure how this place would turn out in person given that the reviews are kind of all over the place. It is considered an eco friendly property, so if you are looking for luxury, this is not your spot. If you are looking for a unique experience, with kind and helpful staff, an intimate waterfront property with beautiful views, water access, quiet hammock naps and an easy 10-15 minute walk to town, you will enjoy the Green Roof Inn. Carol and Leslie Anne are wonderful women and gave us great recommendations. We rented scooters in town (also highly recommend!) and were able to park them safely inside the property gate. We had not planned on eating dinner at GRI but ended up doing so last minute because we couldn't find anywhere in town that was open. We felt bad not arranging ahead of time, but luckily other guests had so we felt welcome and there was plenty of food. Breakfast is simple, but the bread is fresh and the coffee is great. Golden apple juice with lemon is our new favorite thing. We stayed in a cottage, the only downside is the Wifi doesn't reach, so you have to go to the main house for that. Otherwise, the property and views are beautiful and Green Roof offers a peaceful escape without any frills.

The Inn is not glitzy or elegant (well, the dining area is a bit) but it is relaxing and in a wonderful location. The rooms are basic but comfortable, and the grounds are pleasant. Breakfast is simple and delicious. Dinners are superb. The innkeeper is very accommodating and a wonderful chef besides. His emphasis on sustainability is genuine. If you share his values, you'll love this place.

We really enjoyed our 3-night stay here - it was the perfect place to relax and unwind. We had read a number of very mixed reviews but we’re so glad we went. We had two different rooms - the Upstairs Suite was much roomier and had better breeze and much better view than the double - definitely worth the extra money. We spent a lot of time on the little balcony of that room. There are also lots of other little nooks to chill out in. We swam from the tiny beach at the bottom of the yard - it was a little rugged but perfect for us. This is an eco hotel, though, so don’t expect perfect water pressure at the press of a button or air con (there isn’t). But for a relaxed place in a beautiful setting, it was perfect.

This is the worst hotel I have ever seen anywhere. My wife and I have owned and operated hotels for 40 years. Green Roof Inn has location which is great but our room had no working windows, no curtain over the balcony door, no flushing toilet, no plug in the basin, no hot water. When we arrived, no lights or power points worked. After some time, we found a woman who found a man and the electricity was made to work for a few minutes before failing again. No food unless we arranged for a cook to come in (a restaurant was claimed). Asking for drinks from the bar found nothing available. We suffered many mosquito bites as the only way to get fresh air was to leave balcony door open. After 1 night, bleeding and angry we left and were not asked to pay for the room.

A cute, quaint, quiet place that was eco-friendly. With great service. Thanks Carol. Don't expect a big breakfast. The continental breakfast consists of eggs, rolls, jam, cereal, juice, coffee and tea. Water taxi access from the dock. A quaint rocky beach sits out back. Great for stargazing not swimming. A 15 minute walk to town (Hillsborough).
