Greenacre Park

It's a beautiful hidden gem in the city. Great for getting away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Very calming to hear the water cascading on the rocks, very Zen! It's not super huge and I wouldn't call it a park, but to each his own. I enjoyed my time here, with my Mom and my Ex-Wife. Looking forward to my next visit. Also, it's very clean and well-kept.

A hidden treasure! This little park is set into midtown among the traffic and the people running anywhere, and it's a real oasis. It has timings (7-22 everyday) and there's plenty of tables and seats for having a rest and relaxing a bit. There's also a bar, closed when we visited but still.

I love small private park by the synagogue and am impressed by its cleanliness and the kindness of the staff. It is the safest sanctuary in the city. Chatting to their park rangers, amazing gentlemen, I learned about the hard work they put into maintaining the park – from washing the streets at 6-7am daily to cleaning the park multiple times a day. In addition to the cleanliness, the design of the park is absolutely gorgeous. They always have seasonal plants, I love the stone tiles on the wall, and of course the waterfall in the back of the park gives a soothing white noise. I come here not only when I am passing by, but when I want to meditate or focus or relax. Especially when the park is less busy, it gives so much serenity in my mind. I have nothing but respect and gratitude for their dedication, making this park a beautiful and welcoming place to visit, and the safe place in our neighborhood.

This has to be one of the loveliest place anyone could visit. There are a ton of chairs and tables all around, you can see it close up or close enough or even watch the water fall from the second floor or what I like to call a balcony area. it may be a bit confusing trying to find it,almost like a hidden gem so I offered how the entrance looks like. There are also trash Can's around, it's mostly quiet with the sound of the water fall mostly taking around. I would definitely come visit if you need some calming time or need time to yourself. If it starts raining cause of horrible luck you have, or the sun is to bright there's a balcony as I stated before and it has a roof you can stay under. 8/6/24

A beautiful hidden oasis in the heart of Turtle Bay. So peaceful on a Sunday afternoon. Enjoyed quiet moments and different vantage points changing seats from one area of the park to another. Meticulously curated landscape, structural and horticultural design.

Not too far from Paley park. In between busy streets & tall buildings, lies a very scenic, calm, portrait like park. Just next to synagogue. 12 min walk away from Chrysler building.

Such a peaceful and beautiful tiny place to catch your breath, read a book, get interesting food to eat and perhaps just be quiet.

A relaxing place to read, chat with friends or spend time with family. Finding a place to sit could be a challenge. Lots of cafes nearby and on site. There's a beautiful waterfall which is rare to find in the city 😌

such a beautiful hidden gem. it was very relaxing by the waterfall. just drowns out everything. plenty of seating. they have an area to get food and drinks. i just sat and relaxed for 40 mins. it was perfect.

"A private space for public enjoyment" is the perfect description by one of the signs at the entrance. This plot is so tranquil off of 51st St (not too busy for Manhattan). You can buy snacks from the cafe stand or bring your own entertainment. Tables are available in the shade, not in the shade, down by the waterfall. If you're in Midtown, this is such a cute spot to bring people of all ages.

Lovely spot with a beautiful waterfall and public space to sit down and chill and/or eat your lunch. You really have to look for it.

An absolute hidden gem of a pocket park on 51st. Privately owned, but available to the public, it's tucked away from the hustle of 3rd Avenue. So quiet that I almost don't want to post a review and attract more attention to it. We snuck over here with our bagels as anyone who has ever been to Ess-a-Bagel knows it's nearly impossible to get a table, plus it's noisy and you always feel rushed. It was a miserable rainy morning and we were very pleased to find a covered area and were the only ones in the park for most of our time there. It's gems like this that make you complexity forget you are in the city.

This is a private park but the public can visit. It's beautiful, quiet and simply peaceful. I love it here.

As much as I like hitting up food spots when visiting NYC, my favorite places to check out are actually tiny parks scattered in the area like this one. Great escape from the hustle and bustle of the city and even the waterfall here was built with the intent of drowning out the sounds of traffic and construction. Zen vibes in this park for sure. Very well-kept too with fine detail to the landscaping (on the left there's a raised terrace with additional seating and on the right there's a man-made brook leading to the waterfall). One of my favorite small parks (if not my favorite one) in NYC! *As an extra tidbit, one of my favorite bakeries in NYC, Eclair Bakery, is within short walking distance. Great idea to grab some goodies there and enjoy them here!

What a hidden gem. One of the most serene places in NYC. Was thankful for the stroller ramp, but it would be too steep for someone alone in a wheelchair. I did see a wheelchair button but wasn't sure what it did.

This is an oasis in the middle of the concrete jungle that is Manhattan (not counting Central Park). I almost don't want to write this review as I don't want this place to get too crowded. I stumbled upon this spot on a weekday evening and wandered in as I was mesmerized by the giant manmade waterfall that is nestled inside this quaint little park. There are seats and tables scattered all over and the best part is that it's mostly shaded (well during the time I went) so it was so relaxing to just sit there and read while listening to the sounds of the waterfall. There's also a small kiosk at the entrance that sells food but I think it closes at 5. This is a great spot to just take a break from walking and the summer heat.

Sweet hidden gem tucked away in the midst of midtown Manhattan! I was looking for a place to sit and enjoy my bagel from nearby Ess-a-bagel and saw a tiny park on the map. Wandered in and found an absolute oasis! A shady park with tons of seating and a massive, man made waterfall! The sound of the waterfall drowns out all the city noise and creates a peaceful escape in the middle of one of the busiest bits of the city. Sat, ate, read, reflected, refreshed, and ready to go. Come check this out if you need a slice of peace in the city!

An unexpected little oasis in the city with a lush waterfall. Coming here always calms me. Feel free to grab a bagel outside or order a drink at the little shop there and sit and enjoy the rushing water, rocks, flora, and fauna.

If my best friend (the dog) was aloud in I'd give the spot 5 stars; it's quite the oasis in the middle of Manhattan It gets busy though and can sometimes be tough to find a seat. Sort of a good place to write if you can focus on anything other than people watching and grabbing a bite at the awesome little cafe with juices and curry annnnnnd what an interesting variety

A cute hidden gem in Midtown East - a 25 ft waterfall in the middle of Midtown! Apparently it has been here for decades and was supported by the Rockefeller family back in the day. It was bustling on a weekday late afternoon when I came to take a stroll after lunch. The man made waterfall and the greenery made for an awesome green escape from the towering skyscrapers nearby. I highly recommend this vest pocket park if you need a break from your typical NYC cityscape.

How have I been to this city so many times and never seen this park? This is the most beautiful, little, quaint park. I wish I wasn't on a business trip and had my wife with me. It made me sad to think there is nothing like this in Philadelphia. If I lived near here I'd get up get bagels and coffee to go and head here. I'd stop the world and melt with you.

Every time I visit NYC, I like to spend time checking out new (to me) parks. On this trip, I found a couple that had waterfalls which seemed unique for a city. It's a very small park, but it's cute. The waterfall adds a nice element to it. There isn't really grass or anything here, but there are plenty of trees so it's nicely shaded. It's also close to Paley Park so you can check out two parks with waterfalls at one time. I'm not sure I'd add it as a must visit, but it would be a nice spot to eat lunch.

Gorgeous charming little park with a man made waterfall and beautifully decorated for Christmas. They have a kiosk in warmer days for your breakfast, lunch and snacks as you sit in the splendor of this oasis. Hidden, quiet place for your zen moments.

Greenacre Park is a privately owned, publicly accessible park located on East 51st Street between Second and Third Avenues in the Turtle Bay neighborhood. I've been to this park so many times. I've looked for my photos. I couldn't find them. It's a memorable experience. I love the waterfall. It's a quiet place to retreat from the crowds when I take a long walk. It's a nice place to eat your lunch or a snack. I'm sure I'll return. I'll take more photos!

Such a nice reprieve amidst the bustle of nyc. Can't believe I used to work just an avenue away from here and didn't discover it until much later. The waterfall provides a soothing backdrop and drowns out most of the city noises. There's a small cafe in the back corner where you can grab drinks/food (or you can bring your own). Plenty of shaded areas where you can sit and just enjoy being outside. Saw plenty of people reading, working, studying, enjoying lunch with friends, or just soaking it all in.

Ahhhh, this place might be my favorite spot in the whole city - secluded, green, rushing water, and space to sit down, talk, read, or just reflect quietly. My only gripe is that the seats, made out of some kind of hard wire, were incredibly uncomfortable, but I get that maybe they don't want to invest in too plush seating in case they get stolen or carried off. The best part of the park is without a doubt the waterfall which plucks you out of the crowded, stuffy, claustrophobic concrete jungle and leaves you feeling rejuvenated or serene. That waterfall is seriously like a cool, refreshing transfusion of good vibes. Like a really invigorating yoga session. Or sliding into clean sheets after having not slept for two days straight. I felt so content walking out of the park. There's a small nook inside the park that sells salads, sandwiches, coffee, and drinks but something even better would be to grab a bagel from Ess-A-Bagel a block over and bring it to the park with a good book. There's also several chairs, tables, and benches scattered about - on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, the seating filled up quickly and people do tend to linger for obvious reasons. It seems like Manhattan's best kept secret is definitely getting out but I would love to come here again and again.

Greenacre Park is a little oases in the middle of the canyon of buildings. With tree shade and with the pleasing sounds of the waterfall over a rock wall. You not only can sit here but theirs a small hole in the wall food spot Carol's Cafe where you can order lots of lunch items.

A stroll to remember! Hidden in the middle of mid town east sits an actual waterfall! Quiet and serene- an amazing place to just sit and gather your thoughts. This park is truly an experience you must go to understand. It is a small park that makes a huge impression. It's quick to access and assess- the actual park can be wandered in a matter of minutes, but once you hit the benches/ chairs next to the waterfall, you are drawn to just sit and take in the views and sounds. I love this secret little park amidst the skyscrapers. It is definitely a stroll to remember! Love it or dump it? Absolutely love it! Highly recommended for locals and tourist.

I was blown away when they showed me this hidden little park with waterfall. An amazing place to just sit and gather your thoughts and listen to the sound of water flowing on the rocks. This park is truly an experience in Midtown Manhattan. It is a small park that makes a huge impression. I love this little gem of a park amidst the skyscrapers. And it has a little cafe which also serves hot food.

Step into an escape from the city with this beautiful little park. The water fall drowns out the city volume while the greenery makes you forget where you are. I come here to give my mind a power nap. There's a little concession stand built into the park during the warmer climates. Great place to read, chill, or just simply enjoy the weather. There is also a small store by the corner that sells small eats like coffee, teas, sandwiches, etc.

What a great little neighborhood park! It's a relaxing space to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The waterfall is super relaxing and nice. There is a small cafe on site that you can grab a bite. It's pricey, but what in NYC is not pricey. There are also a ton of other cafes nearby that you can grab something from as well. They have ample seating, great place to sit and people watch for a bit. Will be back again for sure!

Zuper tired with city and the shit, needs to go to park, something nature where i dont need to deal with people. And found this spot, with the fountain. The park is clean and not crowded, many seats are available. Love this place. Places where less new yorker are always good.

If you are forced to work in this neighborhood or are meeting someone else here, Greenacre is an oasis in a concrete desert! It is small, not overly crowded, clean and shields one from the sounds and smells of the streets that surround it. Of course the waterfall was being repaired today, which I am sure added to the quietness and subtracted from the size of the crowd but at least for today this was the story! My friend who works nearby, however, assured me that even when the waterfall is working, it is a nice place to get away for a while!

Greenacre Park is more than an oasis in the city, it's Shangri-la, Atlantis, Garden of Eden, Elysian Fields and Camelot all rolled into one beautiful pocket park in midtown. The trees, waterfall and rock walls take you to another place, well beyond the concrete and skyscrapers surrounding this gem. I've been coming to Greenacre for years and after having lunch here this week, was curious what other Yelpsters had to say. For those of you who gave less than 5 stars, thank you. Maybe it will keep some of the tourists from discovering this wonderful place.

I love this park, it's such a nice place to get away from the busy streets, honking horns, and crowded sidewalks. It's very peaceful as you sit by the waterfall. You can sit with friends or by yourself, either way it's just a nice place to get away from everything. The park is tucked in between two buildings, surrounded by the waterfall and a lot of greenery. Beautiful place to visit on a nice day. There's seating right in front of the waterfall (down a few steps) and there's seating in the main area and some to the side. It is a first come, first serve basis seating so you might end up hovering other people to see if they're done eating. But once you get a seat, enjoy the sun and the calming vibes! The park offers you small short round tables and metal chairs for your enjoyment of the park. The only thing is you're not allowed to take pictures (but you can sneak it in if the guy doesn't care) and you're not allowed to move table/chairs from their designated areas. Highly recommended if you work by the area.

My sister and I went on a quick quest to check this place out before my cousin's wedding back in August. It is tucked away in the city, we walked by it several times when trying to find it. It's a small urban oasis, a cool place to relax, read a book or sneak away for a slice of tranquility among the concrete jungle.

Place: this place is absolutely wonderful! I came here after work because I felt like exploring and heard about this place for quite a while. At the entrance, I first see a lot of trees and chairs and tables you can use. I love seeing the contrast between the structural stone and the the nature and especially the waterfall!! When I was sitting near the waterfall, I felt so relaxed as I stared and observed the water falling. I felt all my worries and stress fade away and lol, now that I think about it....how long was I even sitting there? That was my Zen moment. Even when I was leaving, I felt sad and wished I could just take the waterfall with me like shoot. Recommendation: there are places around the park so bring food when you come like McDonalds, Panda Express, and other restaurants around!! And get here by using the 6 train to get off at 51st st! It's like 2 blocks away so it's not a lot of work to get here!!!

Well this is just the cutest little park. Full of foliage. Serene. And there's a waterfall! Sadly it was turned off the day I visited. And what's even sadder is that photographs aren't allowed in the park. What? What nonsense is this!? Despite this silly rule the park is still a little hidden gem in Midtown. I plan on going back when I find myself in Midtown again and in need of a quiet moment.

I'm writing this review from the park itself and have concluded that Greenacre is pretty much perfection. The most noticeable thing about the park is the gorgeous, cascading waterfall, which, aesthetics aside, serves to drown out most street noise. There's plenty of greenery to enjoy as well, from trees peppered among the tables and chairs to shrubbery to the colorful potted flowers. There's even a little food stand, which unfortunately doesn't seem to be open today. Perhaps most importantly, it's not crowded at all. It's currently a lovely April Sunday - 66 degrees and Sunny - and there is plenty of available seating. The park really seems worlds away from the busy 2nd and 3rd aves, close within its vicinity. Places like these really make the prospect of midtown living seem like an almost bearable idea. (Almost.)

I hate myself for not coming here sooner. I pass by this place often since I work around the corner and always made a mental note to check this place out. Now summer is ending and I didn't get a chance to have a summer fling... But that's alright! Because we've got the remainder of September and beginning of October *fingers crossed* This park is an oasis tucked between tall corporate buildings. If you walk by too fast (I know you are, I saw you bump that tourist on their phone) you can easily miss it. The waterfall serves as a beautiful backdrop and doubles as white noise*. There are plenty of cute (and surprisingly comfy) patio chairs. Some have low tables paired with them, not ideal for those eating lunch, but perfect for you to set down your iced coffee or lemonade (you're so predictable). The seats are placed on the different levels in the park which offer alternate views of the waterfall. There's a small cafe window by the entrance serving sandwiches, drinks, and snacks. They take credit cards and I think tax is already included in the prices. Grab a good book and relax or grab a friend/coworker and gossip about that annoying colleague of yours. P.S. Photos apparently aren't allowed. WUT? That's like putting a delicious dessert in front of me and telling me I can't eat it. ------ *Can someone explain to me how white noise ~actually~ works? It's just loud noise that drowns out other noise. Isn't that just as noisy? Hmmm.

This is my favorite little oasis that I've discovered so far. Within walking distance of my office. PROS: waterfall drowns out city noise, lots of foliage and flowers, and the place is SPOTLESS. The people who work there take maintaining it seriously. CONS: Gets VERY crowded during the lunch hour. Would be better if they had additional seating.

What a lovely, serene place to enjoy lunch! Beautiful waterfall, water running off stones and other than the sudden urge to take a potty break ....I love this place! Bring your own lunch and grab a table. People are so friendly and caught up in the peacefulness , they won't even know you're there! Perfect spot to hide from coworkers and have a quiet moment to yourself...yup!

I work in the area for many, many years so this place forever holds a special place in my heart. I've come down here when I need to take personal calls during good times and bad. It's always very clean and pleasant, there is a Le Pain Quotident right next door if you want to grab a light snack or coffee. There are small tables and chairs checkered throughout. If you decide to come, please no kids running around; no loud conversations; no obnoxious instagram photoshoots; no smoking....just come here to have a nice quiet moment and try not to ruin it for the rest of us that come here to be stil. The waterfall is just so peaceful, you feel like you're completely in another world. This is one of my favorite happy places throughout the city.

It's a little loud. I'd prefer it without the waterfall. I know that sounds crazy but the thing is not relaxing and it brings in too many tourists. It can get hard to get a seat. And isn't it weird that people just sit here and stare at the waterfall? Are they high?? On a more positive note, I like that they have a little takeout cafe and that the security guard said nothing to me for sitting on the steps for half an hour.

This park is beautiful. It is literally the most relaxing place you can visit and personally I didn't have a problem with the seats. Yea it's no couch but its honestly like any seat you'll find in a public area in NYC. There is a small cafe where you can get sandwiches, smoothies, salads, etc. I got myself a tuna salad and enjoyed the view of the amazing waterfall that this park has to offer. I'm making this my go to place to relax, or get some work done, or to simply get away from the crowded city. Highly recommend!

I will probably never come back to this park. I was sitting right in front of the waterfall on my lunch break from work and I almost had to take the rest of the day off because it was too perfect there. So perfect that it drowns out all the surrounding New York City sounds, and is just so relaxing that you won't want to go back to work. Perfect May weather at 65 and sunny and there was a ton of seating available.

Love this place. Nice, clean and relaxing. Definitely a must if you want to relax and escape from the busy and noisy life in NYC.

I finally made it to the park this time without it being closed which the first time around happen to be the case not really sure why it was closed in the middle of the day but oh well. Not much I can say here it really is a beautiful park , the waterfall is very soothing nice place to relax & temporarily get away from the craziness this city has to offer on a daily basis. One thing that I find to be odd is the fact that u can't take pictures, Seriously ? How does this make any sense what's taking pics going to do ruin the scenery!! I don't get this makes no sense to restrict such a thing in an area where u know we are all taking pics!! I was going to deduct a star for this dumb policy but figured I can't take away from the beauty of this place. Beautiful space to relax & get away from it all even if it's just for a few moments at a time.

Love this hidden oasis, seating available, the cafe is clean and the woman cooking is sweet! Delicious food! Indian & American dishes , small bites , coffee , juices and shakes! So beautiful to sit and relax for a few min !

A little bit of heaven in a very busy city. I had lunch at Greenacre Park and it was so lovely. The city starts to fade into the background while you are here because the sound of the waterfall is so pronounced. The crashing water is really soothing to hear when you spent most of the day battling traffic. Everyone that was there knew the unwritten rule that this was a quiet area for having your lunch and speaking softly. It was great because even thought there were probably 30 people seated at various tables, the place was really tranquil. There is plenty of places to sit in the area. There is a little stand where you can buy drinks like water and soda.

What a hidden gem. I read about a hidden little park with a secret waterfall in Manhattan, but imagine my surprise to walk past it within the first hour I was in the city. It's a cozy little spot that almost secludes you from the non stop hustle and bustle of city life on the other side of the wall. Seriously, if you blink, you could miss it. Concessions are available if you need them, but I recommend bringing a book, pulling up a chair and enjoying this small slice of paradise smack dab in the middle of city life.

The roar of the waterfall drowns the rest of the world out in a way that, whether you need it or not, you learn to quickly treasure. Bring a laptop, book, or mental hammock... It's easy to pass by if you don't know it exists. The crowd that was there kept to themselves. Hopefully this is the norm, calm and there to enjoy. The snack window was closed but it ended up being a good thing. I don't care if it's NYC, there are still places that offer food at not so high prices.

A small hideaway on 51st street just steps away from the hustle and bustle of the many businesses, restaurants, and avenues around it - the greenery and waterfall drowns out all background noise and creates a serenity that is difficult to find in the Big Apple. Bring a lunch, or just come to relax on a break. Even if you've got just 20 minutes, you'll leave feeling refreshed.
