Preparing for a jaunt up north, I wanted to bring a slice of Georgia as gifts and was seeking an appropriate shop where I could make delightfully local present purchases. Greene's showed real promise in that regard.
The parking lot was a tad tricky. You have to enter on Church Street and leave onto Trinity Place.
It was cool to wander around in the rooms. Beer and candy aren't a combo you'll find often but I guess there's something for everyone. The guy and gal working that evening were both very nice and patient as we browsed for a long long time. Hey, picking out the right gifts takes time.
I wanted to gobble down everything in sight but refrained since I had to focus on the task at hand. Thankfully Greene's allows you to sample the candies since who wants to buy an ill-tasting present? I ended up leaving with praline pecans, pimento cheese straws, and dark chocolate covered pecans. The labels with "Decatur, GA" printed on them certainly attracted attention from the recipients. If you like pecans, you're in luck here. They've got all sorts: chocolate, spicy, sweet, alcoholic. The treats were a tiny bit expensive, but they were of good quality.
Thanks Greene's Fine Foods, for making me a hit with my Yankee friends!
