On the Grid : Greenhorn Espresso Bar

"Greenhorn is one of those places that transcend labels. It’s a café and a restaurant and a gallery and a record shop (and at one point a bike shop). But, labels aside, it is a neighbourhood staple and home to the West End’s best cup of coffee. The Eggs Benny is fantastic, as is the Wild Mushroom Baguette (pictured). The record selection too is on point." - Amer Alkhatib

My husband and I are visiting from out of town and stumbled upon this cafe while driving through the neighborhood. We decided to stop in for lunch and enjoyed our first visit. The cafe itself is super cute and welcoming. Right when you walk in, the cafe smells amazing with the scent of freshly baked goods and bacon. Everyone working was super friendly throughout our visit, including the chef. There was a decent amount of indoor seating and a few tables outside. They have a good variety to choose from on their menu, including vegetarian options. We tried the BLAT sandwich (vegan style) and the Avocado Toast and both were very good. We will definitely be back on future visits to Vancouver! I’d highly recommend giving them a try!

I really wanted to love this place. The vibes were great, and the staff was incredibly kind and welcoming. But unfortunately, the bacon Benedict just didn’t work for me. It looked amazing, but the addition of tomato sauce completely threw it off — it honestly just tasted like pizza. It overpowered everything and took away from what makes a Benedict so good to begin with. I’ve never had tomato sauce in a Benedict before, and in this case, some things are better left traditional. It’s a classic for a reason. Please consider removing it — the dish would’ve easily been five stars without it.

This is a charming brunch spot nestled in a lovely neighborhood. The ambiance is like a cozy cafe bistro, with a delightful array of food choices. We indulged in Eggs Purgatory (a delightful twist on shakshuka), some fluffy waffles, and creamy avocado toast! From the moment we settled in to savoring each bite, everything was simply amazing. And the experience of watching the food being prepared right across the kitchen was truly captivating. Oh, and they have an incredible selection of coffee and drinks, including refreshing kombucha and freshly squeezed orange juice. I highly recommend this place for Sunday brunch!

Our favorite breakfast place when we don’t feel like making breakfast at home. They have some great vegetarian options. Their benny is spot on but my favorite is their egg purgatory. Expect a long line before getting seated especially on weekends.

Google
Such a great spot. The vibe is relaxed and full of charm, it just feels good to be there. I had the Mushroom Benedicts and wow, they were delicious! Probably one of the best I’ve had. The staff were super friendly and really attentive without being over the top. You can tell they care. Definitely coming back! 😊🙌

Google
My family and I went here for breakfast and my picky children loved it. 2 of them tried the Eggs Benedict for the first time and loved them. They asked if we can come back tomorrow. We love a great breakfast and they have that. Great value for the quality of food.

Tucked away in a charming neighborhood, this brunch spot is an absolute gem. The ambiance strikes the perfect balance between cozy and chic, with a warm and inviting atmosphere. We tried the Eggs in Purgatory—a delicious twist on shakshuka—and the mushroom Benedict, both packed with flavor and beautifully presented. Their drink selection is just as impressive, featuring freshly brewed lattes and flat whites, refreshing kombucha, and hand-squeezed orange juice.Highly recommend this spot for a relaxing and satisfying Sunday brunch!

I chose to eat at Greenhorn cafe based on reviews and wasn’t disappointed. Reached there around 11 and it was super busy so a bit of a wait but that’s ok!! You know the place is good when it’s busy. I decided to have a mocha, a half ham eggs Benedict and half portion waffle and maple syrup. That was the most brilliant concept I came across Being a foodie I now had the option of trying 2 dishes, without wasting. The coffee wasn’t as good as I expected but looked fab!! I almost cried as I swallowed the teddy bear foamy template. 🤣 But the Eggs Benedict with ham was the Best I have ever eaten!! Being cabin crew I’ve been to hundreds of places and mostly eat eggs Benedict as it’s my fav brunch. I’ll defo be back again!! Unfortunately there was an error and they gave me a full portion of the Benedict so I happily polished it off. And they were amazing, they still charged me for half which I appreciated but offered to pay for the full. Thanks so much. Your home made biscuit, ham hock, onion confit with hollandaise sauce really put this to the highest level for me.

Yelp
Great place if you like Eggs Bene. The 4/5 stars was for the slow service. They only employ 1 chef at time. We used to live in the apt building next door (30, years ago), so very nostalgic when the café and studio next door were a corner store & the owners lived upstairs. I had the Bacon Bene w/out tomato (allergy) & it's probably the best Bene I've ever had. Eggs cooked perfectly (over medium), jus the right amount of hollandaise, on top of THE BEST HOMEMADE biscuits I've ever had. MAYBE better than my grandmother's. Thick, fluffy & crunchy/crispy where you want them to be. Is been 3 hours since we finished & I'm not sure if II will be able to eat dinner I'm still that full. If you like a God Bene, you have to try this place. Lots of variety of fresh. ingredients. They do close at 4pm, but open at 7am. Below is a photo of my Bene. https://www.greenhorncafe.com/

Yelp
This cozy brunch spot is located in a quiet neighborhood, and offers both indoor and outdoor seating with table service, or counter service take away. The menu is all brunch all the time. There are some sandwiches, too, but these are mostly served open face, so they're pretty crunchy, too. I had the egg salad on sourdough. The egg salad was nicely seasoned and piled high on a crispy slab of excellent toast. Service was very friendly.

Yelp
Great brunch cafe / bakery, they have an open ambiance, great looking baked goods. Always a line. Not much seating for bigger groups than 2. The menu is mostly Benedict's and breakfast sandwiches. I had the salmon Benedict. Wow. It was sooo good. Let's start with the biscuit - it was just done perfectly. Substantial, crunchy even with all the sauce, great texture, buttery. It works so much better than an English biscuit in my opinion that I wouldn't go back. The salmon, poached egg were perfect too and it just all melts in your mouth in an incredible orgasmic explosion of amazing taste and texture with the biscuit. Definitely coming back.

Yelp
Already been there twice! Nice food and good service There's always a queue on the weekend for brunch but since I have been going alone, the wait time has been quite fast. The menu is nice with the usual brunch options. I have tried the salmon benedict and the eggs purgatory. Both were very tasty. I'm just a bit disappointed they don't do any matcha lattes, blended juices or smoothies. I have been ordering the raspberry thyme limonade since I'm not a coffee drinker. Good option.

Yelp
Everything about this brunch spot was excellent and nothing less! Their drip coffee was definitely prepared with magic - had no idea what I was in for when I ordered their granola. Made with sunflower seeds, fruits, & yogurt, it was hands down my favorite experience of the entire meal. My fiancée had ordered the London fog with the Eggs in Purgatory. No complaints, just pure bliss. She finished her entree before I could finish my coffee. Service was astounding. Staff members were extremely accommodating and so kind. Everything was neatly arranged and the atmosphere resonated an aura with all the good things in downtown. Will be visiting again!

Yelp
Food was standard breakfast. Super small serving for the price. Especially the egg Benedict. We ordered a 1/2 and it was literally 1 poached egg with some sauce. No salad on the side or anything. We were left hungry for a $15 meal. Waffle was 1 tiny waffle with tiny jam. $100 for 5 people and we were not full at all. Service was excellent. Cookies were chewy and delicious. Disappointed because it was such a cute place and we want to support local businesses but for the price for what we get was not really matching up. So many other better value breakfast place near by.

Yelp
Lovely little cafe that serves breakfast. We had bacon eggs benedict (pretty good), salmon benedict (good), chocolate croissant (solid), waffles (yum), and hot chocolate (can't go wrong here). I wish the coffee was better, but I noticed that's how they do the coffee in Vancouver - I'm from NYC and maybe the water is different!

Charlie N.

Yelp
3.5 stars - I stopped by this cafe and ordered the mushroom ricotta Benedict. For $18, it was a bit steep but I figured this would be an incredible breakfast. The Benny is served on a house made biscuit, dense and buttery. It was really good and soaked up the hollandaise sauce without falling to pieces. The eggs were cooked to perfection, poached medium. The overall taste of the Benny was good but it could have used some hot sauce. The temperature of the dish was not hot, it wasn't even really warm. More like room temperature. That was a bit of a disappointment but to be fair, the cafe was very busy so I think my dish got caught under a heat lamp for a while. I enjoyed it but I don't think it was worth $18 (no side). I would stop by again if Im in the neighbourhood but wouldn't go out of my way to plan a brunch meal around it.

Yelp
Really good eggs benny in a small hidden location in the west end. The restaurant is quite small so prepare for a bit of a wait if you arrive after 10:30am. They offer gluten free options which is great to see! One thing to note is that there are only two or so parking spots outside (2 hour parking) and the streets nearby are permit only.

Yelp
we dropped by on saturday just before 1:00 pm for brunch and the place was packed. we waited about 17 minutes and was given the option to sit outside or inside. opting for the warmth, i chose a cozy spot inside, where adam gave me the preference to sit by the window or upstairs for a quieter atmosphere. greenhorn located at 994 nicola is a hidden gem, nestled in a residential west end neighbourhood, beside a laundromat and kitty corner to a firehall. street parking is hard to find, especially if you do not have a west end parking permit. this cafe's interior has high ceilings, large windows, long wooden tables, and an eye catching, red chandelier on the first floor, and there's more tables on the second floor with gourmet grocery items and records, adding to the eclectic charm of this place. initially, i was impressed that elwood took our order without writing it down. the vietnamese coffee was strong with a sweet velvety, luxurious taste, it was exactly what i needed to kickstart my day. my partner was disappointed that they no longer have the steak and eggs on their menu and he was not a fan of the bacon benny. when I cut into my benny, it became apparent that a mix up had occurred, as it wasn't the mushroom benny i ordered. adam checked and confirmed it was the ham instead. he took it away, and brought me a chocolate croissant, an unexpected and thoughtful gesture. elwood topped up my spouse's glass, then asked if i needed water, i said i wouldn't mind a top up, but she must not have heard me. my partner had finished his dish by the time i got my single benny and i checked on my waffle (i think they had forgotten this). the house made biscuit was slightly hard and crispy on the edge, and was topped with rosemary and thyme roasted mushrooms, ricotta, arugula, and a perfectly soft poached egg, blanketed in hollandaise sauce. while the overall service may have had its shortcomings, adam's exceptional service truly stood out and elevated the brunch experience. his attentiveness and hospitality made a significant difference, ensuring that we felt valued and well taken care of. additionally, the unexpected gesture of comping both the chocolate croissant and waffle was a generous and appreciated gesture, further demonstrating the establishment's commitment to customer satisfaction. despite the minor service issues, adam's outstanding service and the thoughtful gesture ultimately made for a memorable dining experience.

Yelp
Waffles were exceptional! Servers were so kind and efficient--I got both my drink and food within ten minutes of sitting down. Overall vibes were wonderful!

Yelp
I love this place. It's a staple spot for us, living in the west end we are so lucky to be able to walk here super easily. Expect a bit of a wait for a table at busy times- but it's worth the wait. Flat white is my go-to coffee (they also sell the beans!), love the brunch options too. I've had the lox bagel several times & crave it often. Would definitely recommend stopping by! Accessibility note: the washrooms are on the second floor with only stair access, no elevator. Indoor tables on the first floor are on high stools.
google avatar

Anna L.

Yelp
I remember in 2019 getting an eggs benny here and to this day it is still the best eggs benedict I've ever had. I would recommend getting here earlier in the morning. I went alone and had a book to read and it was totally fine. Great place to people watch, enjoy yourself, while getting greeted by tentative and kind servers! Ambiance was chill, vibes were quiet in the AM

Yelp
In Vancouver for 24 hours before a cruise. I helped for breakfast near our hotel and the first result was for greenhorn. Pictures looked amazing, reviews even better. This place did not disappoint. Jammie was lovely and tolerated our 5 year old. The coffee was awesome, wish we could buy Amon's is the States. As a group of five we ordered, 2 types on Benedicts, 2 potato skillets, waffles, and eggs in purgatory. Forgot to get pictures of any of it because when it hit the table we ate it. Quiet local spot with awesome service and food. 10/10 would return.

Yelp
Fantastic small breakfast centric cafe with a perfect balance of choices on the menu. I chose the granola which is much more elevated than one would expect. If ever there were a place to deserve fanfare for granola, this is it. Didn't leave a crumb. And the drip coffee was delicious. Service was as good as any and the vibe was that of a place that is frequented by the regulars who live nearby in the West End. Charming and almost perfect. I will return to explore the menu.

Yelp
food is delicious if only it would come out in a timely manne. ordered a Benny at 11:04 and didn't receive a single order of Eggs Benny till 11:48. Almost 45 minutes For poached eggs! only when I asked for my order to be canceled & refunded at 11:45 was told it's coming/ 2 minutes later I get a cold Benedict with room temperature eggs! At least if it just got off the stove, there be something to look forward to. But if only the staff were more attentive to customers rather than socializing with friends outside when your 20$ eggs Benny is sitting on the counter getting cold! i love to support local, but with these experiences it's difficult to support green horn. Stay away, or if you go, expect over an hour for your food to arriv.

Yelp
Love this place, coffee and food is unreal. Cafe is clean, cozy, with great indoor and outdoor vibes

Yelp
We found this place which was a close walk from our hotel. There was a lineup but we were seated within 10-15 minutes. We sat indoors in the high ceiling main floor. The server was friendly and helpful. I had the fresh OJ and my niece had a coffee. I had the vegan chickpea tuna on a gf baguette which was absolutely yummy and satisfying! My niece had the mushroom eggs Benny which she enjoyed. Most people were ordering variations of the Benny so it must be one of their more popular brunch items. They sell some limited grocery items on the upper level.

Ann F.

Yelp
This unassuming café served some of the best food we had during our visit to Vancouver. We had the vegetarian BLAT and "tuna" and the eggs Benedict on a second visit. All were delicious and the cookies were amazing! Also had great service and he kindly recommended some other restaurants, which were also quite good. Highly recommended!

Yelp
This little cafe is worth a stop! We sat outside on a beautiful August morning, and we each ordered the ham and cheese croissant. It was flaky, cheesy perfection. It was so good that my fiancé ordered another one after he finished his lol

Veronica B.

Yelp
The best eggs benny in town The staff is amazing, especially Maddy; everyone is so friendly and chill. Definitely my favourite brunch place in the West End.

Richard V.

Yelp
Wonderful neighborhood breakfast place. Great eggs Benedict of various types. Casual atmosphere.
google avatar

Catherine A.

Yelp
Food tastes as good as it looks! The waitress recommended a delicious vanilla chai latte and I ordered the steak and eggs. The steak was cooked perfectly. There was a line outside the door but we were still sat within minutes and served our food promptly. My husband and I throughly enjoyed this breakfast
google avatar

Yelp
Greenhorn Cafe is our go to neighborhood brunch spot. The vibe is really laid back and the space is much bigger then you think.(two levels and outside seating) We have had most of the menu items but our favorites are the bennies. The ham hock and salmon are both amazing. What separates Greenhorn bennies from the rest is the heavenly hollandaise sauce and the final touch of blue cheese on top, delightful.
google avatar

Lauren R.

Yelp
Best salmon Benedict I've ever had and love that the menu is gluten free friendly! I haven't had restaurant Benedict's in years - truly a wonderful treat. Can't wait to return next time I'm in Vancouver!

Yelp
Great espresso, delicious food and let's see...an upstairs loft with a Vespa parked in it and countless vinyl records on the walls? Greenhorn impressed us so much, that we came back the next day! My husband and I were in town for a half marathon race and were staying at the Westin Bayshore (nice little 10-minute walk). We were so glad we found out about this cafe from the Lululemon store on Robson St, otherwise we may have missed it. Tucked away in a cute little residential neighborhood, it definitely has some nice local vibes and most importantly...great espresso/coffee & delish food, as already mentioned! Here is everything we tried during our back-to-back visits: *Breakfast Skillet (came with smoked salmon, poached egg, avocado, salsa, roasted potatoes, and toasted baguette slices) *Belgian Waffle with good ol' maple syrup (we're in Canada after all!) *Avocado Toast *Carrot, Lentil & Coriander Soup (a daily special or seasonal offering) *Herb-Roasted Grape Tomato, Organic Arugula & Roasted Artichoke Quiche (also a daily special) *Lattes and Flat Whites (with almond milk...and yes, plural!) Sounds like a lot of food and coffee, but that was over 2 days, and the second day was after about 3 hours of walking/hiking/exploring the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park, so we were hungry! Loved the food and drinks we had, and can't wait to come back to try more when we return next year! We also enjoyed the chill atmosphere, music, and just blending in with the locals here!

Yelp
Excellent food (steak and poached eggs), pleasant staff, cute neighborhood.

Yelp
Good service, cute cafe, and the crumpets were super delicious!! Also in a cute area! Would recommend for a relaxing cafe experience

Darcy G.

Yelp
Good brunch spot, outside seating available, dog friendly, inside is super cute. Drip coffee refills are not free. 5/10 on outside chairs--totally fine. 10/10 nongendered bathroom with really weird decor. You gotta see it.
google avatar

Lindsay D.

Yelp
A cute downtown option nestled in the heart of the West End, this is a good casual spot to grab brunch or coffee with a friend. I think they may also have ice cream in the summer. The food menu is a bit pricey for what you get and everything has to be ordered separately. I ordered an eggs benedict and that's literally all I got -- no side of potatoes, fruit salad, nothing. So be aware, it's probably not a great place to go if you are really hungry or eat a lot. The waffles are cute as a dessert item. The highlight of this place more than anything is the people watching qnd neighbourhood vibe, especially if you can snag one of their outdoor spots.
google avatar

Ksyusha K.

Yelp
No wifi, no straws for iced cappuccino to go and can't seat by the window . Grrrr! Muffin and coffee tasted good though . But in Van plenty better coffee shops so I'm giving it 3
google avatar

Yuri Y.

Yelp
I went with one friend on a Saturday morning a little after noon and we got 2 seats at the counter looking into the open kitchen. There were several other open seats and tables. We shared a mushroom quiche and the smoked salmon eggs Benedict. Both things were great, stars were nice, coffee was good, and the orange juice was fresh and delicious. The cafe itself was cute, spacious, and the open kitchen was great. We paid about 16 bucks each for a great breakfast. Satisfied!
google avatar

Vinh T.

Yelp
I came across this hidden cafe on my stroll around the streets in the west-end of Vancouver and I wasn't disappointed. The interior is quite spacious and relaxed. This cafe seemed more of a place to chat with friends or family, rather being a work space place. I had ordered a Vanilla Latte and a Coconut Bite, totalled around less than $7. The Vanilla Latte didn't have too much of a sweet taste to it compared to other places I been to but, it does have that very subtle vanilla taste. The Coconut Lemon Bite itself was a little sour for my taste but the coconut flakes helped with balancing that out.

Yelp
I have been dying to try this place and I finally did. Super cute small cafe and coffee shop that offers homemade treats, GF and vegan options, and great coffee. It's also located in the heart fo the Westend! I got the AVOCADO AND TOAST (Avocado smash, arugula, yuzu dressing, chimichurri, spicy tofu scramble sourdough (GF option)). There is a lot going on with this meal. So to start, the GF option is more of a french style bread. It is huge and withstands all the toppings. I am not sure if it is vegan though. The avocado is really the only thing only thing that stands out in this dish (there is is so much of it which is not a bad thing but I couldn't taste the yuzu dressing or chimichurri). Its a filling dish and quite substantial. However, I found a hair when opening the takeout container. Also, I had to wait for my coffee and so the dish was on the cold side. Definitely a place worth checking out. I will follow up to see if there GF bread is vegan.
google avatar

Diogo T.

Yelp
Excellent coffee and great avocado toast. 100% recommended! People treat you very well in there. The only downside is they don't have ANY wall plugs. I mean, NONE. A bit of a bummer.
google avatar

Glen M.

Yelp
Well would you check out this cute little place tucked away in the west end!?!? There was a cute young couple at a table in the corner, and a young couple with their newborn over there, and a couple bearish men at the window counter, and a woman reading her book at the outdoor table.... It's cute, it's cozy, AND I just enjoyed thee most delicious vegan (can't remember the flavor) cookie. My partner had some chocolate dessert, which was also delicious. Oh, and our coffee was really good too. Just what we needed to start off our day downtown.
google avatar

Patty A.

Yelp
A hidden gem in the west-end. Place is unpretentious and clean. Nice environment and friendly servers. One of the best coffees I have tried and they sell their own beans to make it at home. I went on a sunny Sunday and had to wait for a table but it was worth the wait. I ordered the ham & cheese croissant, a broccoli soup and a drip coffee. It was served almost immediately. I highly recommend this place
google avatar

Yelp
Read the great reviews and chose this place for a Thursday 9am business meeting, which had many private sitting areas. Tried their $12 Egg Salad Baguette with $3 bacon, which I highly recommend! Had it with a decent Americano. This is more than just an ordinary breakfast sandwich. It's big enough for two meals and the delicious baguette is France-worthy!
google avatar

Yayu C.

Yelp
Passed by this cute place one day when I walk off my regular route and decided to come back to try it sometime. After few weeks I finally come try it with friends and it was great!!! I seriously wanna try everything on menu, but that breakfast special and coffee fills me up so much and I'll just have to come back to try other stuff next time Only thing I don't really like is the heavy cooking smell because of the open kitchen, I like how the interior and open kitchen design but just wish the cooker hood can be more powerful
google avatar

Maria L.

Yelp
Walked in on a cloudy Saturday morning. There was no line but the place was full. Atmosphere was calm, ambience was very cozy. This hidden gem in a residential area has so much character. Enjoyed my vanilla latte - it complemented our grilled cheese panini and a single Belgian waffle with homemade chocolate syrup. The best part of our brunch was the truffle Mac and Cheese. Cashier, staff were friendly and cheerful. I highly recommend this place! Mac and cheese is the best!

Yelp
Okay so I didn't really like this place.. my boyfriend and I ordered the breakfast skillet. He loved it, I wasn't a fan. It didn't taste like much and the portion was tiny and it was over priced. $35 for 1 coffee and 2 tiny breakfast skillets is too much. They were like $15 each after we added avocado, defining not worth it. I would only go back bc my boyfriend would want to and I would try the Benedict but I also saw someone else eating it while we were there and that portion looked tiny too. I wouldn't go back on my own and the lady ringing us up was rude and we went in the morning.

Yelp
First time visiting Green Horn, got Bacon & Salmon eggs Benedict. Food was solid, great tasting, and the customer service was great also. No complaints, just was missing that last touch to make it an excellent cafe, instead of just a great one.

Barbara S.

Yelp
Michael and I had brunch on Denman then decided we needed a really good coffee. I hadn't been yet but my friend Susan had told me that Greenhorn had the best coffee in the area so we decided to check it out. We almost didn't make it - we circled the area for 20 minutes looking for a spot and finally decided to park illegally in the alley adjacent. The atmosphere is fantastic and the energy was high. Customers engaged in computers, knitting or each other; the staff hustling to fill brunch orders. We took our lattes on the small enclosed and heated patio and Michael surprised me with a chocolate covered salted caramel. The latte was fantastic and mixed with the chocolate was a perfect way to come off a 4 week sugar hiatus - decadent! The lady next to us had a soup and I plan on going back next weekend to try it - and you know I will introduce Greenhorn to all my friends!

Yelp
My first visit at this coffee shop in downtown Vancouver. Great interior design. Great baked goods. Coffee was above average. I ordered a cappuccino, a regular latte and a latte with almond milk. All of them were great and tasted smooth except that they were not too hot. A lot of students or young adults liked to stay at the cafe for a long time. Some were studying with their laptops and reading. It was hard to get a table or seats and enjoy a cup of coffee with friends. I would say "to go" for my coffee.
google avatar

Darren M.

Yelp
I am on the road for work quite a bit, zipping around the city from job to job, and every time I'm anywhere near the Greenhorn I swing by for a London Frog and a Ham & Cheese Croissant. Now, I'm reluctant to write this review because i'd prefer to never run into a situation where the they run out and cannot fulfil my order, but it would be selfish of me not to share. The London Frogs are good, like really good, but they are overshadowed by the delectable heavenly gooey goodness of the Ham & Cheese Croissant. Honestly, it is life changing. I think I'm addicted, but this is not a cry for help, I will stop when I feel like it.

Yelp
This is a nice spot with a pretty sweet view of Nicola Street if you sit out front or at the window bar. Seating inside is not particularly spacious, and the cafe can fill up quick on a weekend. Coffee offerings are pretty solid and staff is friendly. I only go 4 instead of 5 because it is a little pricey across the board and because the crowding makes coming here to relax over coffee an occasional problem. Still, you can see why it's popular. If you get here early or when it's quiet it's a cool spot.

Yelp
Loved the Greenhorn. The staff was very accomodating and the breakfast was sooo good. The juice was fresh and the chai tea was very good. Best I've had so far. I loved the decor. I would have ordered everything on the menu if my stomach was big enough. We ordered the savory scone, pain au chocolate, ham and cheese scone and brie and jam scone. For a quickish breakfast, do yourself a solid and go!!

Yelp
My boyfriend and I were in need of a caffeine fix after meandering through Stanley Park this past Sunday. Found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. I had an Americano and he had an iced latte. Both were decent, but nothing I'd go out of my way for. The cafe does seem like a neighbourhood gem (it was extremely busy in the late afternoon) and I think I'd love it more if I lived in the West End; it has a nice, homey feel to it. Their baked goods and weekend brunch menu looked enticing though so perhaps I'll have to pop in for another visit.

Yelp
The good part about living downtown is that I can walk to Gastown, Yale Town, Denman Street, Davie Village, Chinatown, and even Kitsilano for coffee. I've been to do many coffee cafes in this city. This place has a wonderful menu. They try to source locally. The menu has items that can help satisfy those fussy diets. If you are a tourist and want to feel the unique ambience of the West End in the Denman-Robson neighborhood, try Greenhorn. Greenhorn is snuggled up into the neighborhood among the older apartment buildings & homes, boulevard gardens and towering trees. It is unlikely that a tourist would pick this cafe as a destination. The coffee is excellent for my tastes, and the food menu changes enough to keep me from becoming bored. Downside: Not all that much seating. This is not a place to spread out and take up a table with your computer and claim residency. Yes, there is free wifi. I believe wifi is shut off on weekends. Honestly, this is a quaint place, that uses its available space for customers. That being said, understand that seating areas are limited. There is main floor seating, small outdoor sidewalk seating, and a mezzanine area.
