How to Visit Khao Yai National Park in Thailand (Updated 2025)

"I stayed at the Greenleaf Guesthouse and, despite its Lonely Planet mention, it hadn’t suffered from overexposure: it offered cheap accommodation, excellent food, reasonably priced tours, and very knowledgeable tour guides, so it comes with my highest recommendation — I’d go back in a second." - Matthew Kepnes

I spent one night at Greenleaf Guesthouse and I enjoyed my stay there. The people were lovely and the food was very good. The room was basic, but had everything that you needed and was extremely cheap considering. If you are used to luxury or need AC, this might not be the option for you, but I really enjoyed it. I did the full-day tour with Gan and can highly recommend it! I had an incredible time and saw so many animals that I was shocked!

Amazing!!! This is the best experience I had in Thailand hands down. The Greenleaf tour was surprisingly affordable and they care so much for their guests. They offer pick up, information about the tour, offer to drop you off at 7 eleven on the way back and wait for you and all in all you just feel they care deeply about providing a perfect experience for their customers. The tour itself was remarkable. Beautiful places and the guides were straight up amazing. They had very good english skills and they knew everything about the animals. Where to find them, all the facts about them and how to take good pictures. A special shout-out to Tee the guide on our full day trip. He took amazing videos and pictures with my phone I didn't even know it was capable of. I always felt safe when he was around and he was running through the jungle in light speed even tho he had a broken arm. This man is a machine. We really wanted to see elephants and he tried everything to give us this experience. In the end we got to see one at night very close foraging for minerals in the ground. It was a thrilling experience. Thank you so much to the team of Greenleaf and if you think about booking here PLEASE DO and support these amazing people.

Our family booked the one-day trip and had a great time in khao yai national park with our guide Tina. She is very experienced in spotting animals and is familiar with the forest. We saw a flock of hornbills, white and black gibbons, several snakes, scorpions and at the very last minute, four elephants after much waiting for them to finish their mud bath. Highly recommend this company and tour guide for foreigners who speak English as she is rather fluent and very knowledgeable.

Stayed here for 3 nights for the tour, has the most peaceful and beautiful guesthouse area, felt like being in a little paradise with all the greenery and plant life The food was genuinely the yummiest food I have eaten in Thailand so far and the staff at the guesthouse are so friendly and welcoming with lovely smiles :) The beds were very comfy and even without AC the fan kept the room so cool during the night Green leaf were extremely informative with the area’s and getting to the guest house and organising a pick up from the train station Finally the tour was such an amazing experience, exploring caves springs forests never felt so safe and thrilling got to learn so much as everyone was so knowledgeable about any question you had to ask, such lovely guides Jo and Tina and the drivers Raangson and Nick were just as lovely (i hope i got everyone’s name correct) Would recommend this guesthouse and tour company 1000 times :)

We stayed 2 nights @ Greenleaf and had an amazing time! The rooms are basic in a nice garden atmosphere, the staff is really friendly, service is great and the food is super delicious! We had two fantastic tours with Greenleaf: a half day tour with some swimming (great for the kids) and bat cave / bat spotting and a full day tour for spotting wildlife in Khao Yai NP. The tour guides have lots of knowledge on the animals and are real experts in finding them for you to watch. Without these guides your changes of spotting wildlife are very limited. Riding the open trucks was an experience itself and the driver made you feel safe all along the way. Also for our kids it was a great experience, thank you for having us!

Had an incredible experience on the 1.5days tour and spending 2 nights at the guesthouse. The guides for both trips worked hard to ensure everyone had a fun time and provided an amazing experience. The half day tour with the bat cave exceeded our expectations with so many extras such as lying on mats to watch the spectacle above, tasting lots of nice fruits and even stargazing through a telescope. We had a really special time. The full day tour in the park was fantastic - we saw Elephant, Gibbons, Porcupine, Snakes etc as well as hiking and driving through lovely scenery. But the guide deserves special congratulations for making sure everyone saw and had good photos of the animals. Each time he would set up a telescope on a stand focused on the animal so all you had to do was look! (This was so much better than past experiences I have had in nature where the guide points at something that the guests can't see). The rooms were basic but fine and cheap. (Recommend using your own sleeping sheet between the top sheet and blanket provided). The food in the restaurant was very very good and priced similarly to the street food we had eaten in Bangkok (ie very affordable). Overall this was one of the best multi-day excursions we have done and definitely the best value! Many thanks to the whole team - the responsive and helpful staff dealing with bookings, the amazing guides, the excellent drivers and fantastic kitchen staff.

We did the day tour at Khao Yai with Nick and she was the best! She's really good at spotting animals and explaining facts about them! She and the driver took good care of us during the day and helped us get a tent at the camping area inside the park. Thank you so much!

It was a great experience to be on the half a day trip. We saw the batts fly out of the batts cave and went for a swim in a local pool. The group leader was amazing and kind of person. Top.
