Greenwich Letterpress

This lovely little neighborhood shop is the epitome of the type of place I envision when shopping local. Greenwich Letterpress is the perfect destination when in need of a unique greeting card, small gift and wrapping papers. A family run business that delivers a good product at reasonable prices.

It's a really cute store with space allocated primarily to cards, stickers and some unique finds. It is unassumingly a very small space. Maybe 6 people can comfortably move around to explore the unique finds this place has to offer. My favorite corner was far end of the room where you can find unique keyrings, lamps, etc (see photos). This just barely meets the requirements to be a stationary store. So if you indeed are looking for a cute stationary and want to try out unique/different pens, pencils, papers, scissors, erasers, gift wraps, etc. then this is not the place. It is limited in what it offers but is cute nonetheless. There are about 3 other "stationary" stores in the area within walking distance so this is worth exploring.

This is a very cute shop with a huge collection to look at. Mostly cards and stickers, but they have a selection of other houshold, office product and knick knacks. It seems as though much of what they had is made by independent artists. It's a great place for a gift. If you're in the area, definitely stop in and get something.

Really nice selection of stationery (including postcards, and greeting cards!) The best part to me was the interactive vintage sticker wall, which is always fun. I think this is a perfect place to buy souvenirs for loved ones as well, especially if you’re looking more on the more personal and cute side of things! Overall, I loved the atmosphere and the employee here was also very kind and attentive. I’m so happy I finally got around to visiting Greenwich Letterpress as they’ve been on my list for quite a while, and I can’t wait for my next visit as well!

I stumbled upon this place while exploring the area and decided to check it out. The window decorations caught my eye, so I went inside. They have a great selection of unique birthday cards, wrapping paper, diaries, and other stationery items, all organized by theme. It was fun to browse through everything! I didn’t buy anything since I didn’t have an immediate need, but I’ll definitely consider coming back in the future. Thanks for the warm welcome!

I love stationary stores, and this one is a new favorite. It's so great and weird. Their card selection is insane- a great range of classy crowd pleasers to wonderfully odd. They have a great supply of things- everything from a tinned fish candle to some tiny wizard stickers. If you're looking for a place to get a friend a gift, a card for any occasion, or just something nice and cute and funny for yourself, take yourself to this wonderful shop. It'll put a smile on your face.

super cute selection of stickers, greeting cards, journals / planners and other cute stationary! it's a small place so it feels like it can get crowded quickly, but nice to look around and you might find some really unique stuff. i went in just wanting to browse for a few minutes, and ended up purchasing a gorgeous riso-printed planner.

A unique bohemian little shop with unique/artsy cards, stationary, notepads. I came here because I had heard about their stickers. They have a large section that's just rolls of stickers--cute, sparkly, but more like grade school stickers. And that's okay--I wouldn't mind including a unicorn sticker in my correspondence every now and then. They are only a dollar per sheet. This is a VERY small shop and it was super crowded when I visited. We were all standing on top of each other and having to squeeze around each other. Staff is very nice and it's still worth stopping in, maybe mid-week is better . . . and it's right next to Washington Square Park, is close to Goods for the Study (another stationary shop). I visited in combination with these two things, as well as a visit to the nearby Salmagundi Club (reviewed separately) and made a whole morning/early afternoon of it.

Unique selection of greeting cards. Great service--friendly and helpful. It has been a minute since I bought greeting cards - I thought they were a bit pricey.

Greenwich Letterpress is a fabulous store to visit on Christopher Street. Great cards and postcards. Souvenirs for everyone. I have to return the o take a photo. Located in a beautiful brownstone on the second floor. Lots of great places to see in this neighborhood.

I adore this stationary store and have been coming here for years. I always spend more money than I intend to buy but it's worth it to me. The cards and stickers are so unique. The staff is always friendly.

The vintage sticker selection here is fantastic, and only $1 per sheet! If you love stationery and crafts, this place is perfect. Teachers and sticker fans will really enjoy it. Definitely worth a visit. Right next to Washington Square Park!!!

Love love love this shop - it's so much fun and incredibly well curated. Stickers from my childhood, puzzles, all kids of fun doodads, and obviously charming stationery - I never leave empty-handed. Everyone who works there is so nice. It's perfect around Xmas as well!

No. I wasted a whole evening finding the place--it's insanely crowded & annoying with nothing decent. I RARELY say this type of review... I'm too old for this crap. Go to Paper Source and/or BLICK. Better yet, go to both on the same day. Your mind will be blown. You will be pleasantly (and artistically) exhausted. Your wallet will feel a ding of satisfaction. You'll rest easy. But this place? I walked out empty handed and sorry for the experience. Not even the stickers were cute. I felt cheated!

Stationery stores in New York are all so unique, and the vibe inside Greenwich Letterpress is to di for. Stickers, pens, cards, you name it. I loved looking around at all the eclectic options, but I found it lacking in term of selections when it came to other stores like Goods for the Study. I can tell that this store is more intentional about the things they choose to stock, which contributes to a really great atmosphere. Definitely stop by!

This is such a lovely store! Their selection is so unique and unlike other stationery stores I've visited in the city. They've got a great mix of fun designers, in-house made cards and goods, and some fun gifts and stickers. Absolutely obsessed, highly recommend if you're into stationery or just cute looking things.

While walking over from Varick street to Union Square, I needed to get a birthday card in between somewhere. I assumed I would just wind up at a Papyrus or something, but when Greenwich Letterpress appeared on the ol' Yelp app I was pleasantly surprised. As of late, I have wanted to direct more of my spending towards smaller shops such as this (instead of larger chains) so this gave me the perfect opportunity to do so. Greenwich Letterpress is an absolutely adorable little card shop. It is not very big, but that is part of its charm. Cards line the walls and there are some small tables with extra goods on them. I focused on birthday cards and was pleasantly surprised to find that they were rather unique and almost a bit less ultra polished than your typical cards from Hallmark or Papyrus. Like the shop itself, all the cards had a wonderful charm about them. Service was very friendly and despite a warning on the card reader machine about it taking several minutes it went very quickly. If you're in the area, Greenwich Letterpress is a great little shop to get a card!

I have been visiting Greenwich Letterpress for a few years now and always get the kitchiest and cutest stationary and cards. I have purchased gift wrap, pins, stickers, pens...you name it...from this shop and have always loved everything I have purchased. Their curated items for sale and high quality of goods really make this a true NYC gem. I can't wait to have a wedding one day so they can make my invitations!

My husband and I were thrilled with our wedding invitations & stationery from Greenwich Street Letterpress and are so happy we discovered this neighborhood gem! The invitations turned out exactly the way we envisioned and the entire process was painless. Working with Lindsay was a dream and I would recommend them to everyone. I'm really particular when it comes to the nitty gritty details and she couldn't have been more patient. I've already been back to purchase cards from them and can't wait till I can work with them again on future projects.

Fact: everyone loves getting cards. So, send more cards to your friends and family. And try to buy them here. I love this place. Its my go-spot for any type of card or small gift. It's super charming and has an amazing range of greeting cards. Plus, all the employees are super helpful and really sweet.

I came here looking for an engagement card. They have a good selection, but most of them were a little too plain or a little too frilly for my taste. I will say that they have the largest same-sex wedding cards I've seen, so that's pretty awesome. Their biggest selection is by far birthday cards. Some are rather plain, and I can't imagine paying that much for them. They're a little quirky, too. I'd say I'd most likely come back here for the other paper supplies, like notebooks and cards. There was some really cute stuff displayed in the center table. Now, if only I had an occasion...!

The other day (on my to Dominique Ansel Kitchen), I stumbled upon this card shop in the West Village that I'd never even heard of (and, if you know me, you should be well aware that I'm a dominant figure in the greeting-card-store scene*). They've had a storefront since 2005 and surprise, surprise - it's great! They sell a lot of independently published greeting cards (ie. the best ones), some stationary, wall decor, etc. If you find yourself on Christopher Street, you should definitely stop inside. *Yes, there is a greeting-card-store scene and no I'm not embarrassed to be in it.

Such a super cute & tiny place! Love the originality of all the cards, very creative. Very pricey, but they're all pretty much one of a kind and it's in the village. I bought a card for my parents, it was made to be a wedding card, but I used it for their 10 year wedding anniversary. The card was a ticket to Happily Ever After. After 10 yrs, they've gotta be there by now, right? Great place!

This place is a magical wonderful and a snail mailer's dream. Quirky and fun notecards for every occasion - and some that are clever enough to make you *wish* you had cause to buy them even if you don't! Especially good options for pop culture fanatics, but they also have lots of cute NYC-centric offerings. And if you're getting married, no question this should be your first stop. Their wedding invites are simply sublime and totally original.

Sure, I could have printed business cards out from an online company and they would have been cheap and quick; they probably would have looked ok too. But I am so glad I went to Greenwich Letterpress and got beautiful old-school letterpress cards. The paper and ink are so nice. Hey, I worked hard to put those letters next to my name, I may as well honor them with a special card. Not only is the product great, but the service was so pleasant and they did everything they promised, when they told me they would. If you want a quality print product, something a bit special, Greenwich Letterpress is the place to go.

They have the best unique letterpress cards for all occasions and unique stationary items and small gifts. It is in some ways a step back in time. Very friendly helpful staff. Worthy of a visit even to browse in the West Village. Nice.

I adore stationery, & could happily peruse the selections at any card shop I come across for hours, however, I have had one too many vaguely unpleasant experiences at Greenwich Letterpress, where I felt I was under a magnifying glass, & so even though I really like some of their inventory, this is my last purchase there. I needed some greeting cards, & decided to stop in on my way home, as this is my neighborhood store. As soon as I walked in, even though I was greeted, I noted the cashier had an unfriendly look on her face. During the course of my shopping experience, another employee suddenly come from the back to arrange stock near me, (subtle behavior that made me immediately suspicious that I was being racially profiled, since it's a very small space). The incident that caused me to write this review, occurred when the cashier (my receipt says her name is Lindsey), came from around the counter to show me the location of some cards I'd asked for. She then asked me if I wanted her to hold the items I was planning to purchase at the counter. In that instant, my heart sank because that vaguely unpleasant feeling of being hyper scrutinized I always have when I shop at Greenwich Letterpress turned into a full blown alert signal (yes, you are being racially profiled!). I was so aghast that I almost handed her back the cards I was holding, to tell her that I'd changed my mind, & wouldn't be buying anything today. But I didn't tell her that. That auto-polite behavior so many of us are ingrained with, kicked in & I politely declined. However, inside I was a mass of fury, shock, shame, & disappointment. Did she really think that I was planning on running out the door & stealing a bunch of greeting cards?? Because my assumption is that she thinks that all Black people are thieves (?!!) This is how it seemed from my perspective. I ended up spending quite a bit of money on the cards I chose, but I will never return. I prefer the friendliness of the staff at The Ink Pad on 7th Ave or even Considerosity on W.4th St (an even tinier spot where I don't feel like I'm being watched all the time).

The cards here are beautiful, witty, and hip - I'm in at least once a month and hardly shop anywhere else. They also have whimsical little knickknacks (erasers, stamps, maps of NYC, etc.) and wrapping paper. One star off because the selection can be limited (especially if you're looking for a card that's more earnest, or for a niche occasion like a bar mitzvah or engagement party). Also, the cards aren't cheap ($5-7 each). But you get what you pay for!

I've been coming to Greenwich Letterpress ever since I moved to NYC in 2012. I always get birthday cards, mother's/father's day cards, Valentine's Day cards, Christmas cards, etc here. They have an excellent selection and have cards for basically any occasion. I've never used their custom services, but I'm sure they're wonderful. The staff is friendly. The store is just the cutest, well organized, and they constantly have new items. They also have other stationery items such as stamps, twine, gift bags, stationery, calendars, etc. I've gotten a calendar here and a stationery set that I was very happy with. I recently went in to pick up birthday cards and a Valentine's Day card, and they had those little Valentine's that we all used to bring to school! I picked up one of those just for fun. The cards here are pricier than one that you'll find at Duane Reade, but they're beautiful and well made. Some are made by Greenwich Letterpress and others are from other brands. It can get a bit crowded but it's never packed.

This is the perfect place to go to find a unique card or some special stationary for wrapping a gift. If you knew anything about me you would know that hand made gifts and wrapping are two things I love. (sad, but true) The selection at Greenwich Letterpress is the best I have found in New York. To all my people out there...expect some sweet-ass deliveries in your mailboxes soon.

It's a little bit Etsy, but a great first or last place for cards, stationery or invitations. Decent value for the quality, the selection all share a similar style -- plus some original seasonal offerings. I sometimes buy here b/c it's in my hood and I prefer cards that are blank inside. If you're wrapping a gift and want a look that stands out from the typical Container Store fare, this place could help. So, why do the people who work there seem so miserable? They always have the look of prisoners of war.

Letterpress printing uses physically inked type to make a deep impression & ink imprint on thick, usually cotton-content paper. This store carries gorgeous cards and stationery by various small presses across the country, carries an in-house line, and does custom printing. A nice place to pick up a beautiful, unique greeting card. Infuriatingly quaint and expensive, but worth noting 'cause it's a pretty special store.

The most lovely store - they have whatever you're looking for in slightly more chic form and everything you never knew you needed. Paper Source can eat it's heart out.

The perfect place for that inbetween-friend gift. You know: you don't know him or her well enough to get a full-fledged gift, but you don't want to show up to the birthday party empty-handed. So go with the inbetween-friend gift: an expensive letterpressed card that is almost a present in itself! (P.S. If you're looking for more upscale cards, e.g. to send to your stuffy aunt, the cards here might be too whimsical for you. I'd recommend going to Kate's Paperie instead for some elegant Crane and Co. stationery.) This store's only half the size of what it used to be, because half of the storefront has been dedicated to custom design and distribution. Great news for Greenwich Letterpress, less great for those of us who miss GL's sale nook.

I have found my new go-to stationery shop! If you have ever found joy in browsing cute paper boutiques, Greenwich Letterpress is a dream come true. As I am not familiar with the nonsensical street routes in West Village, I had some trouble finding this place even though I had written myself directions beforehand. Luckily a friendly local pointed me in the right direction (turns out I was just a block away) -- the store is conveniently next door to a bakery. The best way to describe this store is CUTE. It's quite small, but full of cards, notes, gift tags, etc etc for all occasions. The designs are just adorable. The merchandise draws a certain kind of attractive clientele. I tell ya, everything about this place is C-U-T-E. I don't mean in the way that makes you feel like they're trying too hard. They're just naturally that cute. Luckily I knew exactly what I was coming in for, otherwise I could have easily spent a half hour perusing all their precious goods. If that's not enough to bring you through the doors, maybe you should know that they use 100% wind energy and soy-based inks. They even have a nifty postage stamp machine so you can mail your long-distance bestie a thoughtful letterpressed postcard as soon as you leave the shop.

I. Love. Hand-printed. Cards. I triple-heart the cards you can buy here, all beautifully printed on handsome paper. The cards range from quaint to quirk and it's impossible to leave here without remembering long-lost friends' birthdays and every last person you need to thank just so you can buy more.

A longtime shopper of GLP, I was pumped to work with the team on wedding invitations. GLP is quirky, warm & the kind of shop you tell your friends about because a) it's amazing, with so much goodness tucked into every inch, & b) you feel incredibly well taken care of -- and this is exactly how my fiancé & I fantasized guests would reminisce about our destination wedding. We really cared about the invites, recognizing our wedding was a significant ask of friends & fam, who would be giving up precious PTO to celebrate with us. We wanted folks to be genuinely excited as they opened the envelope ... to register the non-traditional vibe & know the trip to Tulum was going to be just as much about their good time as ours. After meeting with Lindsay -- who blew us away by being so cool & patient -- we cranked out a rush order. Lindsay went above & beyond, notably digging through archives to find the perfect Tulum-y palm tree ("these things matter," she solemnly agreed, & for that she will forever be my hero!). Lindsay & GLP were the BEST wedding partner/vendor. Couldn't recommend them more & love that we supported a female-founded, local biz. Thank you!

I did my wedding invites here. I had always wanted to do proper letterpress invites. I'd passed by this store, looked at some samples, and kept it in mind. Amy, who handled my invites did a super professional job, even though I was ordering from California (You have to at least go to the store once though, to look through the colors and designs you want). We did everything via email, and she was very good at contacting me when necessary. The invites were done on time, delivered, and they looked absolutely beautiful. They use Crane's for their papers, an absolute must since I addressed my own envelopes using calligraphy ink, and they absorb it the best. I'd like to come back here and order other personal stationary now, like monogrammed notes and thank-you cards. The pricing is a bit expensive, but worth every penny as Letterpress is a very complicated way to print.

This is an all-star. It's a stationary store version of Meg Ryan's cute children's book store in "You've Got Mail". It's authentic, unique and incredibly charming, and the cards are equally as special. Despite my previous love for Kate's Paperie, this store is my go-to for all things paper. I hope high rents or large chains never take Greenwich Letterpress away.

This quaint little shop has some really fantastic cards, but having visited a number of similar stores around the country, I'm sad to report that (probably due to the shop's small size) their stock is limited and doesn't rotate frequently enough for my taste. Maybe that just means I buy too many cards? Regardless, it's worth checking out. I haven't found a card shop in NYC that rivals it.

In this day and age, you can find cute stationary just about anywhere. Damask-ridden, cute font-ed greeting cards are all over your local Walgreens for a steal. Granted, is that how you make someone feel special? I love finding a good card that can say all the emotional shit that I can't, so I ventured here on a search for the perfect birthday card for my beloved sister and walked out with a multitude of ways to say hello, happy anniversary, get well soon, happy birthday and even an I'm sorry, I fucked up hard card. Individually-wrapped cards decorate the walls of this store with stationary, gifts, bags and customized invitations that can make the most anti-marriage girl (me) want to plan a wedding. I refuse to ever visit a Hallmark or a Papyrus again. Go. Now.

I want to have this shop's baby. No. You don't understand. This store was meant for me. The owner was helpful and gave me space to browse the selection. What more can you ask for? Beautiful prints, adorable cards, simple stationery - I'm in heaven here.

I found this place totally on accident while wandering around one afternoon and was so excited when i walked in. At the time, my best friend's birthday was coming up so this became the perfect place to get her a card. I had a blast shopping around with one of the staffers and felt super comfortable and taken care of. I'll definitely head back here for all my letterpress essentials.

At first glance, the cards seem overpriced. Most cards are $4, $4.50, and $5. But if you go to your neighborhood chain pharmacy, you'll find that the prices are comparable, $3-5. I guess it seems unequal at first because the cards here are small and not flashy. They're very cute and understated. With the big publishers, you feel like you're getting more for the money somehow, because there's a picture of a kitten or a baby. The place is cute and very village. I didn't end up buying anything because the hipster working the counter was having a lengthy chat with a customer and I was in a rush. I was about to buy a couple cards though. I'll definitely be back someday.
