Gregg's Cycle in Greenlake is probably one of the best establishments I have been to. I came from Tacoma to Greggs Greenlake shop based on reviews and that they had a particular Specialized RockHopper in stock. I’m new to bikes particularly to mountain bikes but it’s a hobby I wanted to get into, I’m a bigger dude around (300lbs) so I was kinda nervous about walking into a shop and trying to find a bike, after walking in I was greeted and asked what I was looking for, I told them I was brand new but kinda new what I was looking for and that they had what I was looking for in stock and wanted to check it out in person. The staff was very professional and friendly and understood my concerns as a bigger guy which made me feel comfortable. They found the bike I was interested in and fit me for a Medium size frame which I thought I would be a large, I test rod it around the block and liked it. However I did not make a purchase because it was out of my price range which they totally understood. The sales guy recommended for me being new is to maybe find a used bike in the same model, have it serviced, and try that, that’s exactly what I did. Few days later I found the exact bike I wanted on Facebook Marketplace, because the service was so good I decided to take it back to their Greenlake location for service. The service departments customer service was just as good and as friendly as the sales department, they were happy I found a good bike and will get it looking and running like brand new for me, after picking it up I purchased a seat and new petals that I brought and asked if they could put them on, they said yes with no problem and showed me how they go on. The shop and service areas were very clean and well stocked with anything you could need with very nice bathrooms available. Again this is some of the best service Iv ever gotten being a new person to the hobby I couldn’t have felt more comfortable there and all my newbie questions got answered respectfully and friendly with detail especially at the service department. I wouldn’t make the trip from Tacoma to Gregg’s if the service wasn’t this good. I appreciate their time and patience with me and I will definitely be back. Highly recommended!

Everyone was so helpful and friendly and it was a joy to buy a bike from you. At short notice (contacting you from the UK) I was able to buy a bike for the Peace Ride across America and all done without any stress, professionally, promptly and all done with a smile. I am full of gratitude for helping me so much.

I love this shop! Chuck who works on the service side is the coolest dude. The first time I brought my bike in he explained what was wrong and then taught me how to fix it. Every time I go in he teaches me something new or checks my bike and gives me the green light or what he recommends which is really helpful and I appreciate it a lot. He also is incredibly personable! I trust this shop and highly recommend.

Super helpful and nice staff. Listened to my needs AND budget to find me a bicycle that works. They didn't have it in store but called around and put a hold on the color I wanted. Had a great time testing and purchasing a bike from them.

I came into Gregg's on Greenlake for an issue I was having with my bike (recently bought used from Recycled Cycles). It ended up being a complex issue, but Wayne and Chuck and a number of the other mechanics assured me I was a priority and they put significant time into diagnosing the issue. It took 3 attempts and huge persistence from the whole team at Gregg's to finally address the problem, but I'm SO grateful for going to you guys for help. I felt validated and cared for and ultimately my bike is working like new after the complex issue was fixed! Thanks for your dedicated bike repair service!

Greg’s cycles is a great neighborhood bike shop. Today my husband brought in my daughter’s new Woom and the bike shop did some adjustments to make sure it was a perfect fit for her. The team is friendly and knowledgeable.

I brought my bike in for service after I was in a crash last week. I had the spare part I needed replaced, my rear derailleur hanger. I was prepared to leave my bike for at least a week, knowing that Gregg's would be busy for the summer season. I was pleasantly surprised when Zach from the workshop offered to do the work right then and there - he turned around my bike in 30 minutes. More over, he went above and beyond to get me back in riding shape. He corrected a spoke that had been turned, he cleaned my headset, and checked my carbon frame for damage (note this was not an official scan of the bike, only an eye and feel test). Zach went above and beyond what I had asked for and only charged me for the time, not even the multiple work items he completed. After being banged up and disappointed with the bike crash, Zach and Gregg's have me feeling much better about getting back in the saddle. A huge thank you to Zach and Gregg's for their phenomenal service. TLDR: Service was efficient, went above and beyond to help after a bike crash.

Google
I consistently have great experiences at Gregg’s! The staff are so patient and knowledgeable and really seem invested in making sure that you can enjoy your bike! Chuck was phenomenal and kind enough to teach me how to pump up my tires and answer all my questions. I’ll absolutely come back for any future bike-related needs!

Yelp
My husband and I have been discussing purchasing our son a bicycle for a few days, being that we were in the area we randomly wandered into Gregg's Greenlake cycle. We were promptly greeted by a team standing in the front of the store, Evan and Will kindly assisted us. Evan took Jackson's measurements and selected two bicycles appropriate for his height. While Evan walked me through the bicycle safety check process; Will helped Jackson get fitted for helmet. I greatly appreciate both Evan and Will as they provided excellent customer service, and were genuinely courteous during our time there. Overall, excellent shopping experience at Gregg's I couldn't be happier and Jackson left riding out in style. We will definitely return, and highly recommend!

Yelp
stopped by this bike shop looking to see if they could recommend a trail to go on. The guy at the register literally looks at me and says nothing. Then I look at the map they have on the bulletin board - and notice the "Interurban Trail" - so I ask them if they know anything. The guy mumbles something (didn't hear what he said) then this girl says, "there's an interurban trail in Bellingham". Yay. In other words, terrible customer service, no smiles, or any help. Just a blank stare. A too cool for school bike-snob attitude Won't be coming back.

Yelp
These folks are the best. Took my bike in same day and they put a new chain and derailleur without appointment and did a great job. They are pro, do good work, and are very knowledgeable. Would like to give a special shot out to, Chuck, who did a great job on my bike and gave me a honest and fair assessment of the repairs needed. Can't say enough good things and will continue to take my bike to Gregg's of Greenlake. -Chris J

Yelp
I wanted to thank Brice who helped me return a bike that he sold me the day before. The situation could have been awkward but he was gracious and kind and understood when I explained that I had made a mistake and rushed a decision. Thanks for your service, I appreciate your kind help.

Yelp
Thank you to Chuck, Dan, Nick, Marcus and the rest of the team at Gregg's I am writing to express my sincere appreciation for the exceptional service that I received from your department recently. As a long-time customer of your bike shop, I have always been impressed by the level of expertise and professionalism that your team demonstrates, but my most recent experience truly exceeded my expectations. When I brought my bike in for service, I was experiencing some issues with the gears and brakes, and I was concerned that it would require a costly repair. However, your team quickly diagnosed the issue and provided me with a range of options that allowed me to choose the most affordable and effective solution. Throughout the service process, your team kept me informed about the progress of the repair and provided me with updates on any additional issues that they discovered. I appreciated the transparency and honesty that your team demonstrated, and I never felt pressured to make any unnecessary repairs. In the end, my bike was back in perfect working order, and I was delighted by the level of care and attention that your team had put into the repair. I felt confident that my bike had received the best possible service, and I was grateful for the peace of mind that your team had provided. Thank you again for the exceptional service that you provided. Your team's commitment to customer satisfaction is truly outstanding, and I will continue to be a loyal customer of your bike shop for many years to come. Sincerely, Zach J

Yelp
Although the bikes Gregg's Cycle Inc. sell are usually more expensive than any other place, I have done business with them in the past. Usually most bike places try to help their customers especially the senior citizens. Today I had a very minor issue with my bike - as one of the nice service guys was trying kindly to help me - another one (Ray) a bully - told him not to. This type of behavior is uncalled for. It was ugly!

Yelp
I had the privilege of visiting their store in search of the perfect bicycle for my darling daughter, who just turned 7. Now, let me tell you, finding the right size and color can be quite the challenge, but the folks at Gregg's were up for it! They didn't have the exact match in their Seattle location, but what do you know, they had it at their Bellevue location! And, get this, they shipped it over and held it in inventory just for us, all in time for a magical Christmas Eve! I tell you, as a proud dad, it's moments like these that make me grateful for our local bike shop. The level of dedication and care they provide is truly unmatched. Thank you, Gregg's, for helping make a Christmas to remember.

Yelp
I was super excited today, going to by a new bike. Looking at spending over $3k. Knew what I wanted and Gregg's in Greenlake had more than two in stock, one the right size, another one had the right wheel set up. I wanted a 29r rather than a mullet, and it's an EASY swap on this bike. Could I buy it? No. The manager told me it would be too much work, because he'd have to swap the bikes over in his "system" (the shop is almost empty btw). He'd rather I wait over a month while he orders the exact same bike. Even though it's on back order and they don't know when they'll get more. Seriously? A $3-4k sale and swapping a bike in the system is too much work? Ok dude. Other reviewers have mentioned the staff are apathetic and unhelpful. Yup that's my experience too. I'm not shopping there again. Gerks in Issaquah had the same model and we're only too happy to help.

Yelp
Very poor customer service from the tiny, snotty hipster mechanic. I had been bringing my bike there previously but was informed today that they will only work on ebikes from their own store. I was not asking to have any electric components serviced, it was a simple mechanical issue that could have been resolved in the time it took them to sneer at me and show me the door. They don't deserve your money. *I should also note that they worked on my previous ebike for mechanical issues and simply asked me to take the battery with me for storage/safety purposes.* I guess the new policy is to be rude and dismissive and send you elsewhere.

Yelp
Just bought a new bicycle from Gregg's Greenlake location. The sales associate Max was awesome, and made the experience educational and fun. There wasn't any pressure, except to find just the right bicycle for my situation. I recommend Max and this shop highly.

Yelp
Amazing and terrific local bike shop in a busy Seattle neighborhood in business for 90 years. The staff are attentive, knowledgeable and helpful, their showroom inside is fantastic with many ranges of cycles to window shop. My favorite was their online registration and pick up process. You go in and place a deposit and registration sign up for the bike you want. The shop calls you when it's available, you can test ride outside and figure out your setup/preferences and decide on the spot if you want to purchase or not. Fortunately, we got 2 bikes which were available in less than a month, which is awesome given the bicycle crisis during pandemic. If you buy a bike over a grand you can get free fitting and tune up. They lost a star because of the long wait time. It takes a bit to get their attention, their printers don't work, systems are very slow adding to the wait time. The staff is courteous and polite, really like this shop and location.

Yelp
What a wonderful business! Chuck was so kind, helpful, and focused on making sure I had an easy move across the continent. When I arrived at Gregg's cycles, I had no idea how I was going to ship my bike to Virginia in the next two days! I was only in Seattle for 4 days. Chuck made sure I called other businesses to make sure I got the best bang for my buck and when I decided to just trust Chuck he immediately packaged my bike and sent me updates on the package and the store snow hours. I wish all businesses would handle such a crazy situation for me with such calmness and patience. Thank you, Chuck!

Yelp
This review is for Gregg's at Green Lake specifically; other locations (at least Lynnwood) are far better. Every time I get my bike back, there's something wrong with it... from the seat being adjusted for the 6' tall guy who test-rode it to a new derallieur that's installed to be completely dysfunctional. Some of the guys here are really nice, others are arrogant and dismissive. They have the best selection of bikes in Seattle, but as for service, go somewhere else.

Yelp
I stopped in to get my bike evaluated and service tech Joaquin got my bike up on the rack quickly, evaluated my tires, added air and greased my chain. He addressed my concerns, said I was in pretty good shape and didn't need to make a service appointment. I loved the way I was treated and it made me a fan of Greenlake Gregg's. I also visited the clothing department and ended up buying a new helmet. Staff was very helpful.

Yelp
I crashed my bike and wanted to ensure I wasn't missing anything on the bike inspection. Everyone at Gregg's was super kind and made me feel welcome in the shop, which is often not true of other outdoor stores. Chuck and Andy were super helpful with readjusting my brakes and helping me find the best value for maintenencing my bike. I ended up with just buying a chain and handle bar tape for now, but I will definitely be coming back for my routine maintenance in the future!

Yelp
I am giving the Green Lake location 5 stars, but I am giving the Bellevue location 2 stars. I was at the Bellevue location because they were the only bicycle shop in town that had the exact make and model of the bicycle that I wanted to buy. Oddly, the salesperson I dealt with did not seem very interested in selling me a bicycle. He seemed distracted and more interested in some of the other customers who had come in while I was trying to buy the bicycle. After my test ride, I had informed him that the bike was not shifting well. The chain kept jumping some of the gears. He didn't seem to believe me, even told me that the issue will likely resolve itself once I ride the bicycle around more. (SPOILER: It did not.) But I insisted that he inform the repair shop of the issue while they were giving it a final inspection before rolling it out of the shop. Then I got my bicycle back, and when I rode it home, the gear issue was still there! WTH? I was only a few feet out of the shop, but had decided that I would not return. I was done with Gregg's Bellevue Cycle. A few days later, I took my bicycle to Gregg's Green Lake Cycle, and explained the issue. They put my bike on the stand right away, and quickly fixed the issue, while also explaining to me how to adjust the derailleur in the future should this ever happen again. He did such a great job, that he inspired me to buy tools and a bicycle stand and deepen my knowledge of all things bicycle repair. I have now been doing my own repairs (with a little help from Youtube), but still taking my bike to Gregg's Green Lake Cycle for major maintenance and repair issues. I have found the shop to be patient, prompt, and professional. So, my recommendation is, if possible, go with the Green Lake location over the Bellevue location. Much more accessible, friendlier, and effective!

Yelp
WOW, looked way back and found my old review. In between then and today I had a n ot ideal experience but now is now. Today I was so appreciative and thankful to bring my bike in to get a tire fixed and more. They have you wait calmly in line as they carefully work on bikes and answer questions. Social distance. The workers are very friendly and thoughtful to everyone. So glad I cam in. Be prepared-- you and I are nto the only ones who finally decided to get our bikes fixed-- a guy nearby snarled and ticked off that he had to wait- his problem not mine.

Yelp
I have been using Gregg's for bike purchases and bike service for the last few years. It has always been a great experience with Gregg's but today was by far the best experience I have had in the last 4-5 years. The great experience is solely due to Wayne in service. I cannot begin to give him enough praise for his help today. My tires went completely flat because I haven't biked since end of biking season last September. When re-inflating, my rear tire completely blew. I brought the bike in to get the tube fixed and was told if you let the tire go flat over months of not riding, it can get misaligned when re-inflating and end up popping because it is misaligned with the rim and tire. The tech fixed the tire and I went on my way. Well today, I went out riding after my rear tire was fixed and within 15 minutes, my front tire blew while on the ride. I brought it back into Gregg's and got Wayne as my service technician and he did such a thorough inspection to really find out what the root cause was. He inspected both tires, even though the rear tire had just been fixed. He ended up replacing the tube in the front tire that had just blown and got my bike back to working condition. Once I finally got home, my partner who also bikes got nervous because he had let all the air out of his tires out over the winter. We inspected his bike and realized his may not be up to par and could face the same situation of the tube blowing mid ride. We took it in 2 hours after Wayne fixed my bike and we got Wayne again. He was so professional and patient and looked at my partner's bike and realized that his also looked like a potential issue of the tube blowing if we go out riding again, and made the necessary repairs. He also was very thorough in explaining what to be cautious of and what to look for before you go biking to make sure your bike is safe before you go riding. Not only was Wayne EXTREMELY friendly, patient, and professional, he went above and beyond to make sure that our bikes were up to par and we would be safe riding out on the roads. Thank you so much Wayne and I will always recommend Gregg's thanks to you.

Yelp
The whole service department is friendly and helpful, but Chuck is the best!!! Was able to diagnose several issues with my new ebike that make rising it even better!

Yelp
Some negative comments here are because the prices are too high; bike prices have always been high and the increased demand stemming from the pandemic will not drop the prices any further. If you want the full carbon specialized, you're not going to get it for 500. It just isn't going to happen. Some negative comments are about the confusing and long lines and where exactly to go to get the exact component you need. Again, the pandemic forced limited capacities and awkward queues on a building that wasn't built to handle it. I myself have become outwardly frustrated with their setup but now that I understand it better it's clear that it's the best they can do. The employees on the floor bear the brunt of that inconvenience so please be patient because they've had to deal with idiots like me. The best example of them really caring is that when I took my bike in to replace the shifter cables and housing, the man I spoke to openly admitted that because my bike wasn't from a brand that they sold and because it was an integrated cable frame he couldn't guarantee that he knew exactly how to rewire it in an expedient manner. He suggested a different local shop where he thought they might have more experience with the particular brand. That's a classy and honest move.

Yelp
We were in the market for E Bikes and came to Gregg's based on the great ratings they get. I would strongly suggest if you are looking for an EBike you do your homework first and test ride many before you decide. Gregg's has a limited number of EBikes to try and their sales people depending upon who you get are limited in their knowledge. We were looking for two bikes and ended getting only one for my husband as the bike I wanted was not available at Gregg's. On the very positive side, they were great when the first bikes we bought, the batteries died on us when we were out and they took them back. They were the Specialized Como's. My husband went back to a bike he is comfortable with and bought the Townie from them. Here is the negative. Every time we were called to pick up bikes, the bikes were never fully ready when we got there. Accessories ordered not put on the bike were the big issues which caused us to have to come back another time. For some reason the people putting the bikes together from the sales order don't fully read the order and there's always something not quite ready. Net net, we like the people at Gregg's but it is not the best store for everyone. If you are buying an EBike we would suggest going to retailers that specialize in EBikes. We have been educated by many of these other stores on why our bike battery cut out and died. We have been instructed on how to prevent that from happening in the future. EBikes from European makers tend to give you more for your money.

Yelp
My review is exclusively for the service department; I have only briefly interacted with the sales department and those experiences have been okay. I ride my bike frequently, so I find myself needing adjustments and repairs all the time. Overall, the guys in the service department have been very helpful and thorough. They have also done a nice job managing the long lines during the COVID pandemic. While they often have a line, I have never waited an unreasonable amount of time. Wayne, in particular, is wonderful. I was having issues with chain drop. He first adjusted my front derailleur. Unfortunately that didn't solve the problem, so I came back about a week later. Wayne did a more thorough examination of my bike--spending over an hour on my bike--and we eventually decided to install a chain catch. He explained everything he was doing in a way I could easily understand. Thanks to him, the problem was finally solved--no issues 3 weeks later.

Yelp
No perks with their smug shpeil, "best technicians with years of experience." This location was the stereotypical pretentious blank face when asking questions on what bike to choose. When a customer is willing to spend $$$ on a bike, drives 2 hours to find a correct fit, common sense tells ya to be friendly and helpful. Not here. Other shops offer free lifetime adjustments, parts & accessories discounts, focused customer service...not here. Bought my Specialized from another shop who are in it for the love of cycling, not themselves.

Yelp
I was plagued by flat tires due a spectacular amount of broken glass on city streets and broken bottles on the bike path. I made several visits to Gregg's to fix flats as well as a couple of service calls, but one visit especially stood out. I have an older bike, that I love. Chuck was able to address some ongoing issues an get my sweet ride back to like new condition. Chuck gets a 5 star rating from me for going the extra mile to determine the root of the problem and get my classic bike on the road. Thanks Chuck!

Yelp
Want a laugh? If you can go in knowing you're about to provoke bike snobs to launch into full-on "sa-nob mode," then bring an inexpensive bike to Greg's Greenlake Cycle repair shop. I was there yesterday with a brand new yet inexpensive bike (purchased elsewhere). I assembled it myself, but had a simple question I knew they could answer - I even arrived willing to pay for their help. Oooooo-M-G... Mind you, It's the beginning of November - it's the "off-season" - and I've walked my bike into to an empty repair shop, I mean, it was really empty. There were 2 skinny guys idly standing behind the counter who cast their Mercedes Benz gaze on my Honda Civic bike and the color blanched from their faces. It was exactly the kind of look a deserving waiter offers when they don't get a tip. They were both visibly insulted. Still, I pressed ahead to explain the problem, and (without recounting the whole conversation) was told to leave my bike there for 10 days where they might find an hour sometime in their very, very, hectic, crazy-busy schedule, to look at my bike - at a cost of $120. I looked around to see if I missed anything, and no, the room was still empty. No large collection of pedigreed bikes waiting for attention. Seems if I had the nerve to sully their exclusive shop by bringing this unworthy "thing" into their presence and expect them to actually "touch it," I was going to be made to pay for the transgression. Yeah... No. I left. So why the cheap bike in the first place? I bought it to replace one that was stolen. I have no place to keep a bike inside, so it's out in front and super-easy to lay hands on. And thus, I'm not going to spend $2000 on a bike and leave out as a gift for anyone with bolt cutters. When my situation changes and I can keep my bike inside and safe, I'll spend some significant coin and get a nice bike. But now, after this experience, I would never do so at Greg's. Robin Williams said it best: "Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Always be kind."

Yelp
Ok we arrived to the store at 5:56pm. Literally in front of the store first. Another cyclist pulled up after us and was telling the store employee that he really needed a rack while they were trying to close. Well we needed a quick item too but apparently they didn't let us in. Shame on them for closing early.

Yelp
Oh, how the mighty have fallen. I have known this shop for years, and as a very regular commuter, I had been going there for years for tires, gloves, etc. and always had a good experience. So when I decided to take the plunge and buy an e-bike, I found the that they had a Specialized Vado in stock, so I ordered it online, paid in full with CC, and planned to pick up the bike the next day. I did get a message that the bike was ready by noon the next day, and bussed it on over to the shop. When I walked in to pick up the bike, I gave them my name and the sales guy looked up my order. I also needed a new pair of gloves so picked out a pair. When I got back to the register, the salesman gave me this giant form to fill out and said I could not take the bike until I took a 'test ride', no exception, and I needed to fill out waiver, give my CC and drivers license. I let him know I had already paid in full, and he rudely said there was no way that happened, and no there is no discount on the gloves, despite paying full retail for a $4K bike- ok. Then the bike disappeared for about 30 mins while the mechanic set up the bike- which had been done earlier? Bike shows up and I ask to get a tour of the details, being new to ebikes. The sales guy could turn it on, but could not even figure out how to turn the light on an off or change 'modes', and did not seem to even care to know. Frustrated, I said I would figure this out on my own, and thank you but I will be heading out. Sales-primate then just walked off. No "Thank you for your business" or offer to even hold the door open, just crawled off. C'mon, Greggs! When a 30 year customer pays full retail and just wants a little info on how the bike operates, someone should at least try. Not gonna name the sales guy, because others were there, heard my questions, but no one chimed in to help me out. From this we can assume every sales person carries this same level of apathy. Sadly, I cannot ever recommend that anyone go to Greggs Greenlake, and I will pass this story on. And I used to think Aaron's Bike was Seattle's worst bikeshop, but they now take the crown. I will be going to see Peter at Westside Bicycle from now on. They give a damn!

Yelp
My wheelchair has bicycle tires, one of which was flat. It seemed pretty simple to inflate it with a bicycle pump at home, but for some reason it just didn't work. Then we though of Gregg's. We called them for advice, and they told us to bring the wheelchair in. We did, and we brought our pump. After some troubleshooting, they figured out that the problem was a valve on our pump. They tightened it up, inflated the tire, and made sure my caregiver understood how to perform each step. They didn't let us pay them. Since many wheelchair users, like me, are living on limited incomes, Gregg's kindness is most appreciated. It is up to us not to abuse their kindness and try our best to solve problems independently. Thank you, Chuck and the rest of the staff at Gregg's!

Yelp
Being 6'8, searching for a 64cm road bike that was within my budget was rather difficult. Day after day of being online of looking at forums and different websites trying to find models that came in a 64cm frame, 3 months later I stumbled upon a post of some friends who bought their boss a 64cm Trek Emonda ALR 5. Needless to say I googled it right away and Gregg's popped up saying they had them in stock and on a closeout price. My wife and I made the hour drive to Gregg's the next day. I usually prefer highly charismatic, outgoing, and expressive sales associates, but man...did my mind change! I had an associate named Ray help me, unsure of his last name, but he had worked at the store for 3 and a half months and he helped me like a seasoned champ. Although he was quiet and a little timid, he was a no-nonsense kind of guy. Any questions I had he answered clearly and directly. He did not up sell me on anything, which I had experienced at a different shop. Making a bigger purchase, you want to feel confident in what you purchased, and Ray fostered that kind of experience for my wife and I. I was out the door for under $1500. We are planning on heading back on Saturday and purchasing a Specialized Crosstrail for my wife, and will plan on continuing going back to Gregg's for any bike needs we may have.

Yelp
I just had the most incredible experience at this shop. I'm moving across the country and needed a cardboard box to ship my bike in, so I called and they let me know I could come through and grab one that they had lying around. As soon as I walked in Michael greeted me and knew what I was asking about. He took a look at the specs on my bike and ran to the back to find what I needed. Not only did he come back with the perfect box, but he then spent 20 minutes showing me how to pack up my bike. He knew I wasn't there to purchase anything, and still spent his time and energy helping me get it figured out. On top of all of that, he GAVE me a wrench they get with the bikes so the process of packing the bike up went smoothly. The shop also maintained social distance and everyone was in masks. Absolutely stellar customer service and experience. 10/10. Extra points to Michael for being so warm and helpful.

Yelp
I loved the experience buying my bike from them years ago and doing the regular maintenance there. But a recent "quick fix" was what made me really happy. I know all the shops are busy right now but my brake pads were worn dangerously low (only really found out how bad after) and they found time to take a look at it. It's a large cargo box bike and my main transportation for my kid. So I really appreciate them making it happen!

Yelp
Alice at the front is phenomenal and exceptionally helpful. Greg's goes above and beyond biking needs and wants. As a former Trek biker and perhaps a Specialized enthusiast, depending on circumstances, I love Greg's! I am grateful for Greg's service to the community! I'm full of joy to be able to enter Greg's and will continue to do so moving forward with great insight!

Yelp
Gregg's Cycle has apparently been experiencing a significant number of glitches in their ability to complete purchase transactions on their computer. Today it appeared that my husband's debit card did not go through. After frustration with even trying to find the transaction in the system, my husband left assuming it had not gone through and went to JRA Bicycles where he successfully was able to purchase a tire. He brought the JRA receipt to me as I was, at the time, on our bank's website. I asked, "What is the pending charge of $77.16 for?" He winced and said, "That was the charge at Gregg's that they did not think went through." When I called to ask for a refund, the clerk was unable to find any record of the transaction...not under my husband's name nor under today's invoices; yet our bank received it. This is, according to the clerk, even a worse glitch than they ordinarily experience. He was very apologetic, sincere, and helpful and is working to reverse the charge. My husband has always been pleased with service at Gregg's....until today. Matter of fact, JRA is closer to us and the tire there was $69.46. But he chose to go to Gregg's first. Probably won't be his first choice in the future given that these computer issues have been ongoing for a significant amount of time and must be exceedingly frustrating to those on the front line having to deal with unhappy customers. When a computer system often gets in the way of customer service and satisfaction, it needs to be updated.

Yelp
I stopped in wanting to get a larger chain and adjust the derailleur for a ghost kato bike on which I had just installed a larger chainring. The first person helping me became frustrated with the derailleur; a second attendant stepped in to help. There was a problem somewhere in the gear shift cable. Instead of fixing it, the attendant told me to buy a gear shift cable and troubleshoot myself. He left the gear shift cable unthreaded from the derailleur (and subsequently the crimping screw that held it there fell off while at the store or shortly thereafter and was never recovered) and sent me home. After 15 minutes of inspection I found that the gear shift cable had become pinched near the bottom bracket and was able to fix it, rethread through the derailleur (and salvage a new crimp screw) and set the derailleur limits myself after watching a 5 minute youtube video. Overall this was a negative experience, and my second time visiting Gregg's after 5 years of living at Greenlake. It felt like walking into the bike version of a super-snooty-barista-laden Seattle coffee shop;-p

Yelp
Large selection, but high prices and condescending attitude from most staff. I don't get why bike shops chase customers away like this. *Edit: Management reached out to me and worked to rectify the situation. Cheers to that, so +1.

Yelp
Biggest bike selection I've seen in one place. A full room just for road, separate room for gravel bikes, even more upstairs I didn't get to. That said, lowest end road bike $1000. On the upside, great staff, adequately staffed to keep you from waiting. And the best area to test ride in the while town.

Yelp
Condescending staff. "We only allow one bike test per visit and please be mindful of our bikes - they are very expensive." Okay relax dude. This is a bike shop. I'm not shopping for art, rare collectibles or jewelry.

Yelp
Brought my bike in that I bought on offer up. Greg answered all my questions, took a look at my bike., and gave me a free estimate. He fine tuned my bike to give it a brand new feel for $60! I appreciated how quickly he was able to look at different parts of the bike and give me an estimate. When I came back to pick my bike up, I asked one of the workers if he couldhelp me with seat height sizing. He educated me on how high the seat should be respect to my body height. He also adjusted it for me on the spot and I felt comforted that he took the time to do that! I'm giving this place a 4 because I asked Greg to take off my shoe cages off of the pedals but when I came to pick up the bike, they didn't know where they were (assuming he didn't think I wanted them back). Overall, this place provided reliable, welcoming, and helpful service!

Yelp
Just wanted to come give a shout out to Andrew at the Greenlake location! We came in yesterday (Sunday, 5/26/19) looking for my first 'big girl' bike as we said. My husband recently purchased a great bike for all his riding needs and while I love my little cruiser, it wasn't going to hold up on the kinds of rides we were looking to get into. So after looking online for the last few weeks, we finally headed into Gregg's (worth noting we had been somewhere prior to Gregg's that morning and were really disappointed with how little the staff acknowledged us). Anyway- Andrew was the main person to help us (though other people did check in and make sure we were doing ok!) and he was so patient, kind and informative! I tried out 4 bikes, and fell in love with the last one. Really really happy with our experience, and I will highly recommend that anyone looking go there! Thanks again!!

Yelp
Don't even bother with this store. I was just treated very rudely and lied to for months waiting on an order that they "never even got around to placing"- Gregg's employee's words exactly. Once again Gregg's made me regret "buying local". Copied from my google review

Yelp
I was in Greenlake last weekend in a serious bind. Our cargo bike company had a gig in the neighborhood and we mistakenly forgot to bring our helmets. Luckily Greggs was open and busting. When I inquired about renting helmets they stated they didn't rent helmets solo any longer, but the sales associate asked a manager anyhow. The manager said to go in back and ask. The sales associate escorted me back and asked at back desk, the woman in charge back there wrangled up some helmets and made it happen for us. They all totally saved the day. Our shop is in SoDo and driving back for helmets would have meant disaster for us. They didn't have to help us out, but provided excellent customer service and made it happen. Feeling eternally grateful for this awesome level of customer service and recommend this shop.

Yelp
Disorganized and unprofessional. Send my bike in for a rebuild, a month ago. In my rebuild there is a part missing. Wrote email to them without response. A couple of weeks later and they called to let me know I need to decide whether to buy the part. On the scheduled day of pick up, I called in the morning to make sure that it would be simple to get things fixed on the spot. They agreed and ask me to come in after work. When I arrived, NO work has been done on my bike. The crew was great to try to figure out what happened, the manager, however immediate got confrontational and threw my paper record on the counter in frustration, blaming me for not giving them all the information. I was content to wait another week if we can get it sorted out for the build, miscommunication happens. But he continued to express his frustration, and basically told me to leave. It was a simple problem that could have been easily fixed, not sure why he continued to escalate his confrontation. At the end, he offered to get the bike build, but I no longer trust him to take care of my bike (his crew, knew and complemented that my bike was a classic and well taken cared of...). The service manager need some remedial training on treating people with respect, and try to solve simple logistical problem with a cooperative customer. Gregg's is supposed to be a Seattle institution. But the service manager seems to think that the shop is doing so well, that they don't need to treat people with respect. Post-script. I took the bike to a different shop, had the most fun experience geeking out with the guys in back about our favorite bikes. The overall cost was only 2/3 of what Gregg's charge. Overcharging, poor attitude. Why go?

Yelp
Super disappointed in the service at Gregg's-Greenlake. When I went in to look for a bike, the moment they realized I was only looking for an entry level bike, I felt like they wrote me off. I ended up finding one I liked and I asked if there was additional stock because I wasn't ready to buy. The sales person said there were plenty. 2 weeks later I called to make sure they had the bike. I waited on hold for about 10 minutes to speak with a very rude person. He 'checked' the system and they no longer had any stock. I said "oh, the guy said there were lots." And his reply was "well there aren't". So I asked if the Bellevue store had it and he said no because he checked there. It was all just rude though. I happened to be in Bellevue that day and stopped by Gregg's and they had the bike I was looking for -- multiple in fact. I should have bought in that moment and that is completely on me. I knew I was taking a risk by not purchasing it then. What I am disappointed with is the rudeness in the store and on the phone. Fortunately, the Bellevue staff was great and got me taken care of.

Yelp
Great experience at Greggs today. Brought in my bike for a tune to get ready for spring and summer riding. They looked at it and said no need. Did some quick lubrications and sent me on my way. Love a service oriented and customer friendly business. I have always been a fan and will continue to be a life long customer.

Yelp
Wanted to buy a hybrid bike for son-in-law as a gift. He lives in Ballard and he had found a bike at Greg's Greenlake, but had been putting off buying it because of other family priorities. So I wanted to get it for him as a gift. I live in central Washington. I called Greg's, first spoke to a sales rep, he inform me that they could only take 50% down over the phone and I would need to bring the same credit card to the store to pick up the bike. I ask to speak with the mgr. and I explained to him what I was trying to accomplish. He was absolutely a dick, kept telling company policy no exceptions. Then preceded to tell me to send the money to my son-in-law so he could just go into the shop and buy the bike. Then tried to explain it was for my own protection, I guess because if i provided my credit card info he or his staff might steal my info.... My son-in-law is a very prided full man and would not take cash or a check from me. So even though Greg's professes to be family owned, local business their customer service tells a different story.

Yelp
Thank God for Gregg's! I've taken my bike in on two separate occasions and both times I've had such a positive experience. I first came in to have the brakes looked at, and then visited after my chain broke. Both times there was no wait and they were done in about an hour. Just walked a few hundred feet to Revolutions and had a coffee in the meantime! I have next to zero bicycle-related knowledge (I'm just commuting to school), but the staff is incredibly helpful and competent. Chuck (you're amazing!) worked on my bike both times and gave such honest advice about services he recommended and also things that I could stand to wait before replacing. It was clear that he genuinely cares for the people he's helping, and I never felt like I was being condescended to or looked down on (which I find happens frequently in mechanic-type situations). It's easy to see why Gregg's has been around for so long; talented staff who have built a reputation for honesty and care. Lucky to have them!

Yelp
They've always taken care of me and have done quality repairs. James is a great manager, it's a great shop.

Yelp
Second time in was the charm; glad I gave another shot. The store itself is large and well stocked, especially for mountain bikes. Almost overwhelming. My bike knowledge is okay, but not great, and the first time in I was impressed with the store but my experience with the staff (Blain?) left me feeling kind of stupid. But, I did more research and came back to give another shot. Second time in this past week was fantastic. Helped by Kara, who was super helpful, patient, and kind. Helped me stay in my budget and was *great* at problem solving without making me feel incompetent. Could not have asked for better service. Knowledgeable, but not snotty, helpful but not pushy, it was really a great experience. If I didn't live in Lake Stevens I probably would have gotten the tune-up package. Highly recommend the store, really happy with my new bike.

Yelp
I just moved to Greenlake and decided to try a local bike shop. I was impressed by the size and selection at Gregg's but was really bummed with the way I was treated by the guys in the shop. I walked in with a few quick questions about my front derailer and brake pads, and the guy who helped me was very consdescending, and acted like I was a pain. He refused to explain what he was doing so I could learn for next time, and just seemed really eager to get me out of there. I thought maybe this was an unlucky experience, someone just having a bad day or just one employee, but my boyfriend went in a day later with a broken pedal and got the same treatment from a different employee. Definitely sad to have this experience at my new neighborhood bike shop.

Yelp
These guys are jerks. How jerky are they, you might ask? Well, recently I attempted to rent a road bike from them. In the back of my head I had a recollection that I'd tried this before and it didn't go well for some reason. I'd ended up renting elsewhere but couldn't remember why except I thought they were jerks. But, they are close to my house so I thought I'd give them another try. I'd thought $50/day seemed like a fair price, and since I'm in the market for a road bike anyway, I was excited to take some a bike on my list of possibles out for a day long spin. It all seemed to be clicking in to place nicely. Until I read the fine print in which they state rentals do not include pedals. *record scratch* *double take* WHAT? I mean, last I checked pedals are a somewhat critical part of the bike. That tells you pretty much everything you need to know about these guys. Ok, maybe they only want to rent bicycles to serious cyclists. You know, the kind who carry bike pedals everywhere they go, JUST IN CASE. Yeah... Greggs, you are everything that is wrong with cycling in this city-- the spandex clad eliterati. I'll go ahead and head on over to recycled cycles instead.
