The boys and I were really excited to find that there was a prime rib special ($32.99) on New Year's Day! We had to phone to make reservations because OpenTable wasn't working properly. As expected, there was a long queue when we arrived, but you can walk up to the front and wait by the "Reservations/Special Guests" sign and the staff will seat you quickly.
My son and I made a beeline to the prime rib(there were two choices: medium rare and medium well), fish (sans chips), crab cakes, and butter green beans Almondine. The usual condiments (tartar sauce, au jus, horseradish, chili oil) were provided on the side.
The prime rib was juicy and meltingly tender, the green beans were delicious and tender-crisp, and the perfectly seasoned crab cakes were packed with a generous portion of crabmeat (I'm adding an extra star to this review on account of these crab cakes!). The lightly battered fish was delicious without the chips. However, the grilled shrimp skewers were bland (they looked like they were steamed/boiled), and the marinated steaks were thin and overcooked.
With the exception of the chocolate fountain(with profiteroles, pineapple, marshmallows, honeydew and cantaloupe), most of the dessert choices were lacklustre. The sangria jello tasted like cheap wine(the boys and I would have preferred it to be sweeter) and the creme brûlée was served in a huge pyrex dish instead of individual ramekins.
