Our stay at The Grey Hare Inn was absolutely unforgettable. Nestled on the beautiful Old Mission peninsula, the inn offers a truly picturesque and romantic escape. From the moment we arrived, we felt completely welcomed and at home. Sarah and Dereck are incredible hosts—warm, attentive, and so easy to communicate with. They went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect throughout our stay. We stayed in the Vineyard Suite, which was cozy, beautifully decorated, and had everything we needed for a relaxing getaway. The amenities were excellent—thoughtfully curated and well-maintained—and the food was nothing short of amazing. Every breakfast was a delight, with fresh, flavorful ingredients and a lovely presentation that made each morning feel special. The location is also ideal—tucked away in a peaceful area yet close enough to explore the best of the peninsula. Whether you're looking for a romantic weekend, a relaxing retreat, or just a beautiful place to unwind, The Grey Hare Inn is a perfect choice. We can’t wait to return!

We had a truly great stay at the Gray Hare. Beautiful building and grounds, and we enjoyed the large, well-appointed, and comfortable room (vineyard room). Quiet location well off the main road near the center of the peninsula, and a short drive to many wineries and its few restaurants. The breakfasts were very creative and excellent. Wow - those overnight oats we are still talking about! Sarah, Dereck (and Bella!) were great hosts. Old Mission Peninsula is gorgeous.

The Grey Hare Inn is such a hidden gem in the Old Mission Peninsula. I stayed in the Garden room, great view of the vineyard, cherry trees and the sunrise. The property just gives you a French countryside vibe to it. Location wise, it’s just few minutes away from the wineries in the area. Sarah and Dereck are great hosts and the breakfast that I had was excellent! And yes, the baked oatmeal was so delicious. Highly recommended!

We had an incredible first bnb experience at Sarah and Dereyck's place! Every morning, Sarah prepared amazing and nutritious breakfasts that truly made our stay special. Both Sarah and Dereyck were extremely friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home. The location of the property was perfect—beautiful, quiet, and serene. Our rooms were clean and comfortable. Although the Garden Room is quite small and lacks storage, we managed just fine. Overall, it was a delightful stay, and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful and hospitable getaway.

My stay at the Grey Hare Inn was excellent! It's a beautiful, quaint, and secluded location (yet easy to get to). Dereck and Sarah were so attentive, very helpful with local recommendations, and all around great hosts! Breakfast was personal to accommodate each guest's preferences. And guests had free range to several amenities in the Inn. Wonderful ambience both in communal areas and in my room. Looking forward to booking a future stay with them!

We had a wonderful weekend and would definitely recommend the Grey Hare Inn to anyone looking for a relaxing get away near lots of wineries and restaurants.

The Grey Hare Inn was absolutely perfect for our stay. It is a quaint out-of- the -way location with beautiful views and landscape. The look and decor is charming and well kept. The hosts are delightful, engaging, and accommodating. Woke up each morning to a walk in the woods followed by a gourmet breakfast experience. A perfect homebase to explore the "Old Mission Peninsula" wine country.|- The Wagner's

Yelp
My husband and I stayed at the Grey Hare Inn over the July 4th holiday, we had been to the wineries on Mission Peninsula several times but had not stayed overnight. Our stay at the Grey Hare was thoroughly enjoyed by both of us. Derrek and Sarah were so attentive and made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The attention to details was impressive - there were glasses of port and chocolate set out for us every night, homemade snacks available in the sitting room and the breakfasts Sarah prepared were so delicious they bordered on decadent. Every morning, Derrek served us a special homemade pastry with coffee at 8:30am while Sarah made our breakfast, ready at 9am. The timing was very relaxing and gave us a chance to enjoy the beautiful scenery surrounding the inn. We stayed in the Barnyard room, which was roomy with a separate sitting room where we could relax and enjoy the view of cherry orchards and bay. The linens were top quality, and the bed was very comfortable. We decided to stay on the peninsula for the majority of our visit and with the recommendations from Sarah and Derrek, we found a nice beach, a fancy restaurant, a retro general store and several roadside stands that sold cherry and lavender products. If you go, be sure to stop at the Harbor View Lavender Farm; their ice cream is special (lavender and honey)!

Yelp
This is the perfect, romantic and elegant weekend getaway! Located in a perfect spot near all the vineyards and access to Old Mission, Leelanau and Traverse City. The room was extremely nice, clean and high quality! The best part was the amazing hospitality from Karlee and her family. As soon as we walked in the door we were welcome with open arms. Karlee prepared absolutely delicious 5-star quality breakfasts and even provided a late night snack! We will definitely be coming back.

Yelp
My wife and I spent 3 nights here for our honeymoon. It was an absolutely perfect place stay. Karlee was a perfect host and made sure everything we had booked ahead of time was perfect. The living room is beautiful. We had full use of the fireplace and refrigerator to store wine. Coffee, water and popcorn were always available. Her cooking was mouth watering. We could not wait to wake up every morning for fresh pastries and a delicious French breakfast. Fresh juices, mimosas, espresso and lattes were always an option too. We will definitely be coming back again and again

Yelp
This is the most beautiful B & B's I have ever laid eyes on! Cousins of mine, who were visiting from TX, stayed at this venue a few weeks ago. The owners are generous, kind and knowledgeable about the area. My cousins raved about the beautifully presented and scrumptious breakfasts that were served (French flair). The rooms are extremely clean and are furnished with gorgeous furniture. The views from the property will absolutely take your breath away!! Who needs loud, cookie-cutter corporate resorts when you can stay at this sweet, relaxing, stunning B & B!!

Yelp
Grey Hare Inn is a wonderful Bed and Breakfast. We've stayed in many B&Bs and each has its own personality. The home is more modern, so it doesn't have the old Victorian charm that many B&Bs have, but with that comes clean modern amenities. The real reason to go to Grey Hare is the absolutely amazing breakfast. Cindy is one of the finest cooks I've ever had the pleasure of enjoying. Each of the three mornings, Cindy put together an elegant and delicious meal which kept us satisfied until late afternoon. The location is also perfect if you want to enjoy the wineries of Mission Point or downtown Traverse City. It is exactly in the middle of the light house or downtown. We could not have selected a more perfect location. The only thing missing is an water view, which would have been nice.

Yelp
I loved my stay at this B&B. Although i have only stayed at one in the past, this trip far exceeded my expectations. The pros is that it is really private, with only three rooms, perfect for a romantic getaway. The room was so clean, well kept, and the house was well built with radiant floor heating. Our room was the one with the gas fireplace and little sitting room had an excellent view of the wineries and in the distance you could see the bay. They have special touches, like a turn down service with cookies on your bed and light snacks in the evening. I haven't even gotten to the best part... the breakfast! She serves wonderful french breakfasts. I was so impressed with the presentation and taste of everything, I really didn't want to leave and would be happy to come back. It has a great location in the middle of the Mission Peninsula if you are coming for wine tasting. The only thing that could be improved is some more comfortable seating in the sitting room of our room. It would make that much more enjoyable. Truly recommend staying here.

Yelp
this is a really nice, very small b & b about half way up the mission. The owners were very pleasant, the rooms pretty and comfortable, and the breakfast excellent. the wineries are all close by (you can walk to Peninsula Cellars) and the views killer. what's not to love about it?

Yelp
1st B&B experience, and it couldn't have been better. Location is fantastic, views are amazing and breakfasts were delicious. Cindy and Jay are delightful hosts, and their personal touches made our trip up to MI really special.

Yelp
Gorgeous views, comfortable rooms, and hands down, some of the best breakfasts I've ever had at a bed & breakfast. Ever. A fantastic way to enjoy Traverse City.

Yelp
We can not say enough about how much we LOVE the Grey Hare Inn! The views, atmosphere, food, and owners are amazing! We recommend to everyone! The harvest stomp parties are GREAT!

Yelp
Not satisfied at all and would never stay there again. No air conditioning in the common sitting area and with outdoor temps 80-90 degrees this made this area unfit to sit. The breakfast area is the same place and it was almost unbearable to eat breakfast there and we chose not to on our last day for this reason. The place has a bad odor maybe due to heat and poor ventilation. Just never felt welcome there as the owners hit us with talk of negative reviews with in the first several minutes of meeting them which I found strange and very defensive for obvious reasons. Room was just OK with nowhere to set anything like eye glasses or water glass near bed. No shades on the windows so the east room I was in makes for a early wake up unplanned. There are drapes but they are not thick enough for blocking the sun. Not the cleanest place I ever been either with not much attention to detail. You may only have clean towels every 3 days this is not a option. Not toiletries are included like shampoo or soaps. But the price is there with the rest of the best.
