Our first visit as we always stay in the Vermont. We wont again. This far surpasses. Absolutely beautiful suite. New carpet. Ultra Comfy bed and pillows. Water tea and coffee complimentary. Toiletries the white company, beautiful touch. The bathroom was very modern. Egg bath i loved and mood lightening. We stayed for breakfast I would recommend booking ahead as people who just turned up, made it very hard for staff. The two receptionist were a delight. We stayed for our wedding anniversary and brought champagne. She went to find me champagne glasses thank you for this. Enjoyed our stay soo much we are returning in a short few weeks for my birthday.

Charming boutique hotel in a great location: 5 minutes on foot from the station, 5 minutes from the main shopping area. The room was clean and comfortable, with a bath and separate shower. Beds were great! Complimentary water and coffee/tea facilities in the room. Great-smelling toiletries. We could leave our luggage at reception before check-in on arrival and after check-out on departure. The breakfast served in the restaurant was great and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. The only (minor) negatives: the bar closed a bit early and there wasn’t a plug adapter for me to borrow.

Lovely hotel in a great location. Checking in was seamless, staff friendly and helpful, and the rooms were terrific. Great location, with plenty of bars and restaurants close by. No car park but not an issue, Dean Street carpark is 100 yards away and reasonably priced. Would 100% recommend and will use again when in the area.

What a great hotel! Perfect location for shopping, dining, sightseeing. Staff are so lovely and friendly. Nice comfortable room with pleasant decor. As it’s an old building access is a little up and down so maybe not so good if you have mobility issues, however, when we stayed there was a chap in a wheelchair so maybe check with the hotel. The breakfast was really good and hot food was cooked to order so was nice and fresh. Big shout out to Toni and Maria who were absolutely fantastic in the breakfast room. Nothing was too much trouble and they were so friendly. Thank you ladies (squirrel)! Reception were lovely and took great care of us and our bags when we were at the hotel super early. Another shout out to Shruti and Becky-keep doing what you’re doing ladies. If you are looking for a lovely, centrally located hotel the look no further than Grey Street Hotel!

The more I reflect on my stay at the grey street hotel, the more my mind boggles. ||||The hotel markets itself as an independent boutique hotel in the heart of the city - and its prices reflect that. When you first arrive, you will be pleasantly surprised with its presentation: a modern a stylish lobby with an equally impressive bar and dining room attached. Check in was smooth and the staff pleasant. ||||Getting to the room, initial impression is equally impressive - stylish decor, a desk with stationary, tea and coffee, hairdryer, iron and board. But after the first impression wears off, the cracks start to show. ||||What looks like a clean room on first inspection quickly reveals to not have had a deep clean in what I suspect is *years*. Thick layers of dust could be found on the windowsill, the bathroom extraction fan, and the heating vent. The shower head was caked in limescale. The corners of the shower black with mould. Paint peeling from the ceiling. And dust bunnies flying around from corners of carpets where a hoover hasn’t been for some time. ||||The inconsistency doesn’t stop with general cleanliness. The bathroom is stocked with luxury White Company products - but they have clearly been watered down in what I can only assume is a cost saving measure. ||||The breakfast is also a strange puzzle to put together. The food itself is fine and varied enough to cater to anyone’s taste. But for reasons I cannot work out they have made the decision not to serve it in the fantastic looking dining room. But instead in a repurposed meeting room on the lower basement, complete with left over flip charts from yesterday’s meeting, suspended ceiling, no natural light, and carpet held down with duct tape. On my first day I was told off by the teenager manning the dining room for not pre-booking my breakfast despite having already paid for it in the cost of my room. When I asked why I need to pre-book he told me it was so he could “manage the dining room”. I suppose that answer might make sense if I wasn’t the only person seated… ||||It’s also worth noting the “breakfast room” is situated next to the kitchen and the staff toilets. So the noise of the staff moaning about their job and the smell of the bathrooms accompany your breakfast experience. Again - why not use the purpose built and beautiful dining room?? ||||I would not stay here again.

My room was great ( Coliingwood suite ) All the staff were really friendly and helpful. The vegetarian food I had in the restaurant last night was unique and very tasty compliments to the chef, one of the best selections I have had. The girl who served me last night in the restaurant was great she had a lot on but really handled it all well. The breakfast service was great, once again the girl who served was very friendly and upbeat. Restaurant decor is fabulous btw.

Checked in at 11pm after a long day in London and the receptionist was nice enough. The lift is absolutely tiny so not sure you would fit the maximum of 4 plus luggage. Unfortunately the key card didn't work so I had to make a trip back down to reception. The layout for the rooms was confusing and like a rabbit warren with some steps so not sure anyone with mobility issues would be able to cope. Initial impressions were really good but when you looked closer it fell short. I booked a twin but the beds were extremely close together. My mattress sounded and felt like it had seen better days, The bathroom was missing a shelf, there was a suspicious stain by the toilet, the door handle was broken and the bath was very high to climb into for a shower. The shower door didn't close properly so water went all over the floor but The White Stuff toiletries were nice. I also lost my earphones in the night and when I searched for them on the bedside table the bottom was covered in thick dust. They weren't any plug sockets beside the beds which I found incredible in this day and age.||We slept OK but I was woken up at 5.30am by the bin men collecting the empties on our first night and then the rubbish at 6.30am on the second morning. I was in room 25 which was located at the back of the hotel so I think the noise was less overall. The location is fab, closed to the main strips for restaurants and bars. I had a better stay here than the Easy Hotel further down the road but not sure it was worth the extra I paid for it. Just in case you are wondering, there is a kettle and complimentary Tea and coffee.

Very mixed experience. Pros: very central location, easy walking distance to the train and metro stations and the riverfront. Friendly staff and quick check-in. Large rain shower was nice. Cons: the noise - we had a 'suite' on the first floor above the bar, constant loud music meant we couldn't open the windows for fresh air. Fair enough on a busy central street you expect some noise as a tradeoff but on Saturday afternoon we popped back to the room and there was a party in the hotel bar which was SO LOUD it was unbearable to be there. It was like being in a nightclub with noise coming up from underneath through the floor, from the windows facing the street and from inside the hotel up the stairwell. Also for a 'suite', the seating area was very dark and in an area of the room with a very low ceiling, you would never sit there to enjoy the space. Overall the decor was quite dated and tired. Water in the fridge was only provided the first night of our 2 night stay. The shower although lovely, leaked all over the floor. No plug sockets next to the bed. Overall I wouldn't stay here again and would struggle to recommend to others. It is certainly not worth paying for a 'suite' and caution especially against the lower floors.

My introduction to England happened here, on a little corner of the world in Newcastle, after a not-so-quick coach ride north from Manchester. I sojourned in one of their aptly named "chic-rooms" and could not have been happier. For starters, the location. If you're interested in a Newcastle stay, this hotel will place you in the middle of the action. Situated at the end (beginning?) of Grey Street, you will be only a quick walk from the coach station and near wonderful shops, restaurants, and general action. I actually never made it to the hotel's restaurant, as I was too tempted by what I could see from my window. The rooms' decor is also quite charming, and in keeping with the Georgian sensibilities of the building itself. High ceilings, ensuites, deliciously-comfortable linens and impeccable standards for cleanliness round out the equation. As an added bonus, the in-room radio was delightful. I think it was BBC4 that aired an hour or so of very sweet alternative folk rock with some nice liner notes. Yet another reason to curse Clear Channel for buying up all of our US airways.
