The best pizza and buffalo chicken sandwich there ever was! The staff was so nice and helpful. The sandwich left me actually speechless! Did not know anything could taste that good! The pizza was out of this world. Made to perfection!

Was driving through the area and finally had a chance to try Grigg Street Pizza. Was on a tight schedule, so had to order takeout. Went with a pizza and the steak and cheese. Pizza order was wrong, but they made the best of the situation. Thought the pepperoni and sausage were both good. Would have liked to tried the right combo. Maybe next time. The sandwich was a hot mess. Tasted fine, just a messy to-go item. Recommend eating in house.

From the second I walked in, the place was jumpin. The staff was hustling, the energy was high, and the order taker hit me with a big smile and a great attitude. I ordered a half sausage half pepperoni pizza, and even though the pepperoni never showed, it did not matter. The crust was crispy and crunchy, and the sauce and cheese were spot on. Shoutout to the person who cleaned my table, and I even got to meet the owner to thank him. I cannot wait to go back. This pizza joint seriously rocks!

I’ve been wanting to try this place for so long, but the sandwich was terrible!!! So disappointing and disgusting!! It was soggy, like it had been soaked in water. The mozzarella tasted cheap, and paying $24 for such a mediocre sandwich is ridiculous. I ended up having to throw away the rest of it!!

What a great place! I didn’t eat all day and had a 2 hour ride home so why not stop by. I saw this place on Diners,Drive-ins and Dives. They did not lie. This restaurant is spectacular! I ordered a large cheese and their famous steak and cheese. The pizza was excellent. Their steak and cheese by far THE BEST ever! The bread in itself was amazing. After eating this sub you’ll realize that all the steak and cheese sub you thought were great, weren’t really. You’ll realize what a difference quality ingredients make. This was not greasy at all. Their homemade cheese sauce and onion pepper combination brought it to another level. This is the best by far! I cannot wait to go back! ❤️

Really great pizza. Honestly, one of the crispiest crusts I’ve ever have. The 2 of us devoured this beauty. Place is tiny. Service is friendly. Pizza is incredible. If you’re in Greenwich, get pizza here. More tables would be ideal.

Some of the best food I had on my recent trip to the states. The pies are great, but don't miss the Philly Cheesesteak , absolutely amazing.

The pizza and sandwiches here are truly amazing—some of the best in Greenwich. The food overall is very good, and those items really stand out. The salads didn’t quite hit the same mark for me and felt a bit overpriced, so I’d probably skip those next time. The interior is fairly simple, and prices are a little on the higher side, but if you’re coming for the pizza and sandwiches, you won’t be disappointed.

By far the best pizza for miles and miles and miles. Not only is the food good, the staff is the best. Great vibe and great food.

Worth the wait, worth the drive, worth the price. We got the cheesesteak it was SO GOOD and enough to share. It had great flavor. We also got a pizza with house made sausage and that was really good too but next time I'll buy a variety of slices so I'm able to try more because there were so many slices options, which is rare! I think slices are only til 5:00. Free canned beer with your food on the weekend which my husband enjoyed. We waited a short time for our table and our food and they were both ready at the same time!! Staff tried to help make sure you got a table so your food had a place to go. I'd say there is about 6 tables and some side standing room to eat slices. Staff really friendly and want to make sure you enjoy your food and experience, which we did! Thank you!! Somehow we are the cheesesteak before getting a pic of it, but trust me, get it! Pizza dough is superb too. We will be back very soon. Ambiance, cool!

Just came back from Grigg Street and felt compelled to immediately write about my treat/trip here. Parking downtown Greenwich is a pain, but worth it for this food. Free beer in a cooler when you walk in on Fri/Sat, pretty awesome. Went to the counter and ordered a large sausage pie and of course a cheesesteak for my wife and I to split. Place does not have a lot of tables so you may have to eat on the go which most do or patiently wait. They have a ton of slices in the glass case they will warm up for you. Pizza was very good, sausage was tasty and had a good crisp to it. The cheesesteak for me though was the standout. I believe it was sourdough bread for the grinder and the meat came with cheese and onions, absolutely perfect blend, easily one of the best cheesesteaks I've ever had. Owner was very friendly and you can tell many frequent this place around the neighborhood, can't wait to return.

Unassuming entrance and phenomenal pizza The cool exudes off of this place. From the music (Beastie Boys) and decor (Pearl Jam posters and Govt Mule records), to cooler of free Coors Light Beer... Well worth a pop in if you are shopping in Greenwich. We got a plain cheese slice and onion/peppers. Crispy and delicious Next time I get the steak and cheese sandwich - someone ordered it after me and it looked amazing.

I've only had the cheesesteak here and it's amazing. I usually call in and pick up so I'm in and out since the parking situation is non-existent. The meat is tender, the bread is soft but does not get soggy, and the cheese and onions bring it all together. I haven't asked but I wonder if they can add a spicy element. If it wasn't $20, I'd be getting this sandwich at least once a week. Service is fast. They sort of rush you, but it's a small place so I guess they're trying to get people in and out. Ambiance is super cool. Nothing like anything else on the Ave. No frills and straight to the point.

Grigg Street Pizza has been on my radar for a while now since I've seen it in Connecticut's Magazine as one of the top pizza places in the state, Dave Portnoy gave the pizza a 8.6 and the Cheesesteak Sandwich a 9.6, and it was on the Triple D show on the Food Network. Additionally, I've seen that many Yelpers were giving this a place a five star rating so I definitely had to check it out. Grigg Street Pizza is located on a one way street across from a bookstore and coffee shop. Grigg Street Pizza is located in a subterranean basement space and serves Sourdough Pizza and freshly homemade Sourdough sandwiches. Upon arrival my daughter and I were greeted by the staff and felt very welcomed. I came here with a mission and I already knew what I wanted to order. You first put your order in, pay, and take a seat. I ordered a pizza with half Pepperoni and there is only a one size pizza which is a sixteen inch starting at 22.00. I also ordered the Cheesesteak because I had to know what this Cheesesteak was about since it was getting high ratings which cost 22.00. The whole order came up to almost fifty dollars. They also give away free beer on Friday's and Saturday's. You can help yourself as there is a cooler right next to the door you enter into the establishment. We took are seats and the Cheesesteak came out in about five minutes. As I looked at the Cheesesteak, it didn't give that best Cheesesteak vibe. My daughter and I took a bite and we both definitely agreed it was lacking flavor and substance. The Sourdough bread was delicious, soft, and you could tell it was homemade but the cheesesteak missed the mark for me. The Cheesesteak wasn't dry but just lacking flavor. The pizza came out in about twenty minutes and it had a nice undercarriage and crispy. The Pepperoni was not layered evenly as there were stacks of Pepperoni layered on top of each other but, the Pepperoni that was layered evenly curled up. That's a great sign to me as the Pepperoni is crispy has a bacon taste, texture, and consistency. The pizza was okay. The sauce was lacking flavor and the Pepperoni gave me the taste of Elliot's Pizza Pepperoni. The crust was crispy but had no wow factor about it. All in all, although the food wasn't a wow factor to me, the staff were very pleasant and even met the customers at the door. They definitely get a four star for customer service and satisfaction.

This entire town loves them because everyone is talking about their pizza. I had someone's mom from Pennsylvania tell me she had Grigg Street Pizza and it was the best she ever had. Inside it looks like a traditional pizza joint with guys working the oven, couple of tables in the dining area and counter seating on the side. The pizza besides being so delicious, they have the perfect crust, good sauce (not gravy), and a sprinkle of oregano. When the pie comes out the oven it goes to one of the guys for inspection. Before they close the lid on each pie, it is checked for perfection and it receives a sprinkle of dust thats is just pure love! (Parmesan) My son won't eat pizza anywhere else. For his B'day and special occasions he gets Grigg Street gift cards. I'm not sure if he's collecting them because I've been paying for pizzas and sandwiches. LOL All the sandwiches are fabulous and full of flavor, I tried each one and can't say which is my favorite and well filled with quality ingredients. Mozzarella and bread are made in house. The bread is made from the pizza dough, it is simply perfection. The salads are probably just as good but I never order a salad, I'm not a rabbit. I mean what else can I say about how good this place is, so come in and try for yourself. Tell them Renata sent you.

I was thrilled to visit on one rare day that I took a lunch outside and try their pizza! Watching Guy Fieri's review on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives - I thought it would be a sure bet for great pizza.....Well sorry Guy, but I did not think it was the best pizza - An upscale dive (not really a dive, more like an old-school pizza joint)! I gave it 3 stars for great customer service. The pizza slice was very small - despite ordering what they called a large slice (the price was too high), and the taste was nothing to rave about! Sorry Guy, but I'm starting to think you get paid for collaborating w/places you visit @guyfieri

Goddamn lol. I literally went here because it happened to be the closest pizza place to me at the time and what a treat. Absolutely delightful if I do say so myself. Not only that but I came while they were obviously closing up for the day and I got the last slices....fricking amazing/ coming back for a cheesesteak. Guys were friendly. Chat you up while you wait/ not bad. Hometown feel. Alice In Chains on the speakers. Pretty rad.

Dave Portnoy had it right. This is a fantastic slice right off the Main Street in Greenwich, a perfect start to any day that may include shopping and/or bar hopping, and probably some more food. Crunchy, not too thick, great sauce, right amount of cheese. It's small, and there's a few tables, but I prefer to grab my slide and eat it on one of the sidewalk tables. The slice will be ready in a few minutes, anything else a bit longer. I see them making sandwiches all the time and I've heard that their Philly cheesesteak can't be beat...but I've yet to have it. I've SEEN it, and it looks fantastic. Oh, and they have a cooler of free beer by the door so you can crack one while you wait. Clearly they've thought of everything.

Dare I say this is better pizza than anything in NYC. And I'm comparing this to Juliana's, Bleecker, Joe's, Village Square and more. It's decadently, devastatingly delicious, with flecks of fresh Parmesan and basil leaves and crispy pepperoni and crunchy, doughy crust. Add hot honey to their pepperoni pizza and it's this outrageous combo of salty and sweet and cheesy. One of the best slices I've ever had. The Margherita with mushrooms is also delicious. Can't wait to come back. What a gem. 5 stars!!!

Classic pizzeria on the side street. Pizza is fantastic and we have gone back several times when visiting the Greenwich area. Ambience is little loud depending on your taste of music. Service is good and the staff can be a bit colorful, so prepare yourself! Back to the pizza. Thin, crispy, chewy, with high-quality ingredients. This time we tried the salads and they were also excellent. Please note that they often run out of dough and then you are left eating whatever they can reheat from the case. That's not a bad option, but don't be disappointed if you get there late and you cannot order a pie.

My husband went out and got chicken parm sandwiches from this restaurant our first night in the hospital after I gave birth to our daughter. I dragged him back a week and a half later and the sandwich was as good as I remembered it being post-birth, which is *really* saying something because everything tastes amazing when you've just gone through labor and delivery.

Not sure if Dave portnoy was paid off but I wasn't blown away, especially for the price. A little on the dry side

The pizza is fantastic. the sandwiches including the cheesesteak are cannot miss. Parking for pickup is challenging...it's the ave. its the best pizza in town. Make sure to have it hot!

Came here a couple different times and this place is a staple when I visit Greenwich. Their pizzas are consistently delicious and leaves me craving from 2800 miles away. I would have my Uber stop here on my way to the airport just to order slices to bring back to California. This spot is tucked away on a side street, away from the "busy" Main Street. The service counter is designed for a quick bite (order at counter, then sit and eat). Not a huge space, but they have a couple of tables inside and along the wall outside. The service and attitude here is direct, and there are lots of regulars. The slices are fantastic, crispy & chewy crust with quality sauce. I love their sausage, it's actually meat and full of fennel and spices. The pepperoni and hot honey is another great option. Their sandwiches and salads are good, but the pizza is what keeps me coming back. Looking forward to my next visit already!

This review has been LONG overdue. I have been to Grigg Street a handful of times in the past years but have known Johnny and Matt (and crew) for more than 20+ years from various family food staples within town. That said, the point of this post is emphasize the service, quality, and pure foodie experience you receive when eating at this gem tucked away on Grigg Street. The pizza is top notch and could go ten rounds with any establishment around. What pushed me to write this raving review for Griggs, was an underwhelming trip to the "Philly Cheesesteak Capital"...Philadelphia, PA yesterday. I had a cheesesteak from Jim's South Street, which many claim is the best traditional Philly in town (I have had Pat's and Geno's). I can sum it up by clearly saying this sandwich wouldn't even make my Top 10 and Philadelphia is NO longer the Cheesesteak Capital of the world...that is clearly Greenwich, CT and on GRIGG STREET. I respect the history of the cheesesteak but innovation/change by the boys (Johnny and Matt) has brought this sandwich to the next level.

If I could give 6 or more stars I would. I lived in NYC for over 10 years and been to every Apizza joint in New Haven... this is my favorite pizza place in the country. They care. The quality of ingredients they use is off the charts and their attention to detail is unmatched. Robust sauce, crispy + juicy crust and curly pepperoni's (with hot honey and fresh cut basil).. best Pie in the land: Bada-bing-bada-BOOM *PS, Sandwiches and Salads also off the hook

Love this place. Love the vibe. Staff is great. My favorite pizza around, hands down. Also will grab a fatty slice every so often... it has this crunchy Parmesan crust... def go here.

Food is great and they are the nicest people who give great service. Parking is sometimes a challenge, but spots open up on Greenwich Avenue, it's worth it

Cool spot and awesome pizza! Had a thick slice and original and grinder. All money....... Busy often and very early. The secret is out with this place. Small seating areas available with 90's -2000's tunes. Quality ingredients. No customer cheating here! Worth every penny

Exactly the pizza experience I hoped for during my visit to CT. I loved the pizza and the staff were friendly. I went just shortly after opening, so it wasn't busy, and the space was clean and well-kept. Will definitely return when I'm in the area again.

Believe the hype! Great spot in Greenwich with a very cool vibe with great music and top level pizza! The crust, the sauce...fresh and amazing! Have tried a few slices here but so far my favorite was pepperoni with hot honey! That crust - yummm....chewy, crispy...sheer perfection!

Drive from RI twice to get the aged steak and cheese! It's to die for... staff was extremely nice and the ambiance was good as well.

Living in NY area my whole life, the perfect slice of pizza is a constant requirement and search. When I found Grigg few years ago the search was over... the pizza no matter which one you choose it's simply delicious. The crust is crisp and thin... ingredients top notch. Their sandwiches are to die for... I mean they make their own bread and mozzarella!!!! Salads yes please!!!!! Truly best over all pizzeria on the east coast!!! It's a small place but service is good... I personally like to order for take out but it's a great spot to hang out

One of the best places around to grab pizza -- best to eat in instead of take out. Downside is the parking situation in general, especially when picking up orders. No places to pull over and pop in quick to pick up order -- you'll need a co-pilot to grab your order while you stay in the car or circle the block. Sometimes if they're not busy, they will bring your order out for you because of the lack of parking. Employees gave attitude for pulling up to the store to pick up order because it's a no parking/standing zone. But there was a huge delivery truck parked in front of their restaurant blocking the street, Causing traffic for everyone else.

Pizza does not get better than this!! Pepperoni with pepperoncini is my fav, or pepperoni with hot honey. I love to try the Thursday special pies too that they change up weekly. The cheesesteak will bring you to your knees...it is so damn delicious! I also love their arugula salad. These guys really have it dialed in...but we were obsessed before the Barstool dude came to review it. BYOB is awesome too. *** I do secretly wish they carried Mexican Coke in a glass bottle though.

John's Hospitality is unmatched, except for of course his Pizza. The boys in the back are straight killin it too! Mad props to these boys bangin it out in the basement! They even gave us comp beers to wash down the pie, I mean Cmon! Had the pepperoni and it's straight legit.

So far and away the best pizza in Greenwich. Hidden on a little side street off Greenwich Ave. Best part of working on the Ave. A) super fresh ingredients B) perfect crust. No flop. Great char. Without a doubt, this pizza reigns supreme in the Greenwich Area. Opting for the classic cheese, I savored every bite of arguably the most exceptional pizza I've ever tasted. Topped with a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese, it adds an irresistible flavor boost.

This is the best pizza in Greenwich!! The crust is thin, crispy outside, chewy and soft on the inside. There are not a whole lot of toppings to choose from, but I like that. Too many options are disabling! I no longer have to go to Manhattan for some hit-the-spot pizza cravings. We met the chef, Mateo, one evening while we were heading back home from dinner. He is super friendly, knows pizza, and even gave us tips for when we come to eat there. Stick to weekdays, order early or come early before items run out, and dine-in. SO, we did just that! The music is always great inside. The staff is friendly and moves quick. The pizza is DE-licious! I am not a big fan of the sandwiches because the crust is a little hard so my upper palate gets chewed up along with it. I love stopping by to grab a slice when I'm out and about. It's a little pricey, but it's worth it. When I drive by, even if I'm not hungry, I find myself picking up a slice any way!

Great dough, great sauce, great cheese = one of the best. A cross between Neapolitan & NY , burnt & stellar pie. Just as it should be. Not for beginners

In short, nothing shy of awesome. One of my friends recommended Grigg Street for months and after finally having no idea as to where I should eat; I decided it was time to try it. Despite being told how great the sandwiches were, I went with a simple pie half onion, half plain which I ended up taking home. Food aside, the interior is a quaint little pizza parlor which thankfully doesn't have a line out the door despite being smack dab in the middle of Greenwhich ave. I hope it stays that way. I can legitimately, without a doubt say this is the best pizza I've had. It's simple, the sauce isn't overly spiced and the crust is perfect. No frills, no gimmicks; just good pizza. I'll definitely be back and I'll be trying one of their sandwiches too

Amazing! My favorite pizza place in Greenwich! I stopped by to try a slice one day bc I'd heard rave reviews about this place and I totally get why! Their pizza is superb--best I've ever had! I've since returned several times and gotten full pizzas bc their pizza is soooooooo delicious! Fun place with nyc pizzeria vibes, quick service, and truly handmade fresh pizza. Love watching them making the pizzas in the back while waiting. They put shaved Parmesan, oregano, etc on top which truly elevates the pizza! Best pizza around! I wish I hadn't bothered trying other places in the area before I found Griggs--this place is hands down the best. Wish I could eat their pizza daily.

I lived in NYC for years and this pizza can go head to head with NYC pizza. Not only was the pizza delicious, but the vibe was on point. They had the Nevermind album playing through, which is right up my alley. Hospitality was above and beyond. I really appreciated their eagerness to accommodate my kids - crayons, cutting up the pizza into little squares for my one year old/topping up her sippy cup. You can taste the freshness of the ingredients and the pizza is cooked perfectly. Just the right amount of char with a crisp bottom.

Tried this place for the first time recently on a recommendation for their hangar steak sandwich. It was a top ten of all time sandwiches for me. I have never had anything like it. Bread was amazing and the mix of ingredients was near perfect. Staff was super friendly and the overall vibe of the place was great. Can't wait to try the entire rest of the menu - Pizza looked amazing too. Highly recommended. One million stars. You don't find too many places this good - especially on the Avenue.

Small, busy pizzeria on a side street off Greenwich Ave. Late afternoon/evening is their rush hour for commuters picking up pies for dinner. Difficult to get a slice or two because their concentration is on pies. I decided to order a pie to bring home. It was cooked light as I requested and was very flavorful. I had gone back several times and each time the pie was wonderful. The staff is very nice too. My only complaint is that they're closed Mondays and early afternoon on Tuesday.

Incredible food and just as incredible staff. Grigg Street is the best pizza 'round these parts and you'd be doing yourself a favor by stopping in for a slice (or two, or three, or...you see where I'm going with this, right?).

Honestly this was the best pizza I've ever eaten! Last week their mobile oven on a trailer was making pizza for an event I attended at Miller Motorcars in Greenwich. I'm from NJ and was not expecting the pizza to be as spectacular as it was, and we have great pizza in NJ. Ive eaten at many famous pizza joints both in NYC and Chicago, including Lombardi's and Lou Malnati's. I had a pepperoni slice which was perfect, crispy and slightly charred, redolent with grated Parmesan cheese. As the other reviews will attest, everyone loves this place!

Great pizza we love their pies all their items are great my favorite is the thick pie with only grated cheese it reminds me of my grandma Tilly's pizza. We come often come try great place and friendly staff!

Anyone who lives in the New England area is absolutely SPOILED to have this incredible pizza place near by!! I am from California and had heard about how great this place was back in 2020. I knew it was my mission to get to experience it for myself. Luckily, my gf and I had a wedding to go to in CT so I knew no matter what, we were going to make time to get this pizza. It was definitely worth the trip! The atmosphere in there was really cool and inviting. All the crew was engaging with the patrons, and saying goodbye as people were finishing up their meals. We ended up ordering a half cheese and half pepperoni pie with hot honey all over. Shortly after we had this beautiful piping hot pie sitting at our table. They strongly advised letting it cool off for a few minutes before we dove in, which gave us time to get some shameless pictures of the pizza. After a few minutes goes by we are finally able to dig in... it was definitely worth the wait. Not the 4 minutes to let the pizza cool off, but the 2 years I had been thinking about this place! The pepperoni was perfectly crisp, the cheese was delicious, but that hot honey is what elevated it for me. The sweetness was perfectly balanced with the nice kick of heat drizzled across the slice. Also the sourdough crust was great. It had a nice crunch to it, and very fresh. The next time I am in New England I will make the trip back, no matter what!

After learning about just how hard it is to get an order in at this place, when we found an opening we jumped at the chance. This pizza does not disappoint. From the hot honey to plain cheese to Margherita, they were all incredible. Thinner crust, delicious fresh ingredients. Just amazing, and totally makes sense why it's so hard to get an order in. Beyond that, if you're picking up an order I highly recommend having someone drop you off because parking is near impossible on that side street. Plus, as you wait, they have a cooler full of free beer inside (jackpot)!

NYC quality pizza without the cramped feel. These guys run an amazing little basement shop in the center of Greenwich built by brick walls, local art, and picnic blanket tablecloths. Their banter is always fun and the pizza comes out piping hot and glazed with hot honey. They're not known for selling single slices given how large their demand is for full pies. On busier days it may be difficult to walk in. I ended up eating a full pizza myself anyway of the pepperoni. Their crust is halfway between doughy and crunchy, which I ordinarily wouldn't like but they've clearly mastered their craft.

Sheesh, we heard whispers of this being the new go-to place in town, and we totally see why. Outstanding pizza with a flavorful sauce, perfectly chewy cheese, and satisfyingly crispy crust with a soft center. Everything was so well seasoned, from crust to sauce to cheese and toppings. Highly recommend.
