Grill Gate

We tried this restaurant recently and absolutely loved it! The food was delicious — every dish was full of flavor and cooked perfectly. The portions were generous without being over the top, and the quality was spot-on. The atmosphere is just beautiful — elegant but still warm and welcoming. It’s one of those places where you can enjoy a really nice meal and feel relaxed at the same time. Definitely a spot I’d recommend and can’t wait to go back to!

Grill Gate has been our go to place for burgers for a couple of years. We always order their gourmet cheese burger (either spicy and not spicy is so yummy). Not sure f it is the best in Toronto, but it is the best we have tasted so far from a take out place. The price is increased a little bit during the years, but is in the reasonable range. We also tried their chef pizza, not liking it, the meat is piling up on top, it is very filling, but lack of delicacy to us. The service is quite efficient, we always ordered by phone and went to pick up after 10 mins and it was ready. There is some waiting time sometimes when it gets busy. The take out place is small, but they also opened up a dining serving breakfast, lunch and dinner right beside. Would like to give it a try next time. Parking is somewhat difficult as the store front is at Yonge St, so we always park at Yonge/ Arnold Cres which is public parking free for 2 hours.

This restaurant never fails to disappoint. Their pizza, skillets, burgers, amazing. So delicious so much choice. Absolutely love it. One thing to note: no liquor license. But don't worry, the milkshakes make up for it

Finally I found somewhere that makes better sandwich than mine!😎 Despite most other Persian places, the staff were genuinely nice. But food was awesome. I had pulled beef sandwich and steak and garlic pizza. The meat was quality and they had the right pinch of spices and the exact amount of sauce. Recommended? Yes, strongly! Well done guys!

For anyone who says "a cheeseburger is just a cheeseburger," you haven't been here. A friend suggested we try it, and the drive was absolutely worth it. The burgers are phenomenal—the high-quality meat and perfectly matched ingredients set them miles apart from the competition. We were so impressed we also tried the pizza, and it did not disappoint. Highly recommend for anyone seeking a fantastic meal!

Always an amazing experience at Grill Gate! I always come here with my family and friends, and they truly make the night special for us every time. The food is consistently delicious, the staff are incredibly friendly and polite, and the atmosphere is great. They sometimes have live music, and the band is truly professional — it makes the whole experience even better. Highly recommended!

My friend 'in the know' told me about Grill Gate after I raved about another burger spot on Yonge Street..so I figured I had to check it out! Grill Gate is a large location that is a couple of storefronts combined. Lots of space to dine in if you like, with full table service. I got the gourmet cheeseburger- 8oz burger with cheddar and a lovely grilled mozzarella 'patty' as well. This thing was juicy and flavourful, the meat was seasoned in a way that reminded me of 'Mediterranean' lol. It's the best way I can describe it? So much mozzarella that I had a cheese pull! The fries come with a nice garlic sauce and honestly the whole meal was fantastic. Prices were affordable and worth it for how full I was for the rest of the day! Glad I finally tried it...I love smash burgers, but sometimes a good old fashioned burger just hits the spot.

We were in search of a cafe nearby to get some work done, and came across Gate Cafe on Yonge! It merged with Grill Gate and now has an extensive menu serving Persian comfort food, drinks and desserts! I'm especially excited for their handcrafted milkshakes! The Saffron Milkshake is to die for This hearty drink is made with saffron ice cream, milk, banana, walnut, pistachio, peanut and almond. Service was friendly and attentive, and we enjoyed our time spent there!

It was my first time visiting Grill Gate, and I was genuinely looking forward to trying their food, especially since I had heard good things about it from my friend who had been there before. We ordered three different dishes so I could get a good sense of the menu, but unfortunately, the food didn't meet my expectations at all. The flavors were flat, and everything just felt off -- like the quality had dropped. What really left a bad impression, though, was the service. Our server was unprofessional and lacked basic courtesy. At one point, while we were still eating, they took one of our plates without even asking -- which I found really disrespectful. My friend politely asked them to wait until we finished, but instead of acknowledging the mistake or apologizing, the server just walked off coldly. We had already paid the bill and even left a tip out of respect, but the way we were treated was honestly unacceptable. First impressions matter, and unfortunately, this one was not good. I hope the restaurant takes customer feedback seriously and works on both food quality and staff training.

Nice restaurant and cafe style place, with a wide selection of menu items. Service is great and fast, the presentation is great too. We picked the afternoon time which is less busy. Usually this place is packed.

My friend who's a car mechanic heard about this place from his boss and in turn relayed the info to me that this place was really good. I'm a richmond hill local but I live a lil bit more south so this area around yonge and major mack I don't eat at often. I knew that it was in the same neck of the woods as Aneal's close by so I knew parking was gonna be tricky. Luckily, some quick googling informed me that there was public parking in the back behind the resto. I entered from what looked like the main entrance and my first impression was that there were maybe 2 tables to eat? I ordered a modified philly steak combo (came w/ fries and a drink). After placing my order, the girl who took my order guided me through a door next to the kitchen which led to the unit next door and it housed so many more seats! I was in awe of how much space the next door unit had. Looking at the menu, you can tell they not only serve lunch but also cafe items like waffles, tea, coffee, eggs. But their main claim to fame is the burgers and philly steaks. My philly steak looked magnificent. The bread was so soft on the inside but they toasted it on the outside so it had a nice light crunch. There was a ton of meat and goodies inside. The cheese was super fresh. Looking at these other reviews a lot of ppl have been questioning whether this philly steak is the best in toronto. I would absolutely put it in that conversation! The fries on the side weren't anything special imo. They were crispy, seasoned and had a dill/parmesan? sauce drizzled on top but they reminded me of mccain fries from costco haha (which there's nothing wrong with!) If you want fries, order one of the specialty poutines as you'll be more satisfied I think. But yea, I think next time, I'd skip the fries and drink because the combo came to ~$27!!!! which is crazy imo. I'm torn. The sandwich ALONE is definitely worth the $18 tag cuz of the massive amount of meat but I think the combo should be priced around $19-23. $27 is kinda ridiculous. I didn't get a chance to try a burger so I will have to come back for science purposes (the mushroom burger is calling my name lol).

How did I ever not know about this place? Thanks to social media I had to try it out. Even though a cheese burger cost $16, the size is twice if not thrice as big than an average cheeseburger. Verdict? Juicy, balanced, fresh, crispy, and last but not least, satisfying. Solid 4.5/5

It was my first time at this location, I have tried Grill Gate Sheppard Ave. location before, but not here. In addition to all the menu items the other location offers, they offer delicious pizzas, too. We ordered their signature, Philly Steak Sandwich, and Chef Pizza. They were both delicious and properly cooked. Their pizza is one of my favorites in GTA.

Dare I say the best Philly Steak Sandwich? If you don't know about this spot then you have been missing out on what I think is the best Philly Cheesesteak sandwich in Toronto. Their sandwiches are ginormous and the meat is so delicious but don't forget about their other menu items because it is just as delicious. But did you know there is a @gate.cafe.richmondhill as well? 10/10.. mouthwatering, so good!! I love eating burgers with eggs in them. The whole menu looked delicious. It was so hard to choose something on the menu everything looked good. I want to try the Philly cheesesteak sandwich next. The man in front of me ordered it and it looked delicious.

So I am a huge fan of Grill Gate. I always recommend this place but only recommend their sandwiches when I do so. I have tried everything on their menu. I also forget to take pics each time. I'm only sharing my experiences and opinion with Grill Gate, which is always the exact same each and every time. Their menu extends from sandwiches to burritos, burgers and pizza. Personally I only enjoy their sandwiches. Today I ordered the Modified Philly Cheese Sandwich and the Pizza with beef brisket. The pizza is so thin and I wouldn't consider it pizza more like a flat bread with hundreds of toppings and I love Persian style pizza if it's done right but Grill Gates pizza is not my thing. The modified Philly cheese was fantastic. The bread is soft on the inside, flaky on the outside and topped with the sesame seeds. This bread combined together with any of their fillings they choose for their sandwiches is a deadly combo. The perfect partnership. The sandwiches owe me coming back for more. The burgers aren't my cup of tea they are dense and overcooked. Like I said you need to come here but don't think about getting anything but their sandwiches in particular any of their steak sandwiches. The staff are a little cold and never welcoming. It's almost as if it's an inconvenience to them taking your order and cooking it for you, BUT they sure make amazing sandwiches. One of the best Philly cheeses or take on a Philly cheese I have had in Ontario. Bye The Way it's worth checking out their cafe next door. Gate Cafe, there you will find warm welcoming smiles from the staff and a cool little spot for knafeh and drinks.

Cute little shop, everyone there was super friendly. The spicy mushroom sandwich was good. I just wish it wasn't so saucy. Because personally I don't like when my burgers are messy and falling apart. But for taste. It was delicious. And the size was massive compared to a regular burger. The Philly steak is super flavourful. If I had to pick between the 2. My favourite would have to be the Philly steak. For taste I think this is the better choice out of the two

Grill Gate was a hidden gem and most pleasant surprise! On the hunt for a burger, my husband and I ended up at GeillGate after reading the excellent google reviews. It looks very unassuming and it is - if you're expecting real cutlery and plates, you're outta luck. This is definitely fancy fast food! Having no idea what the portion sizes were, we each ordered a burger (he the Meat Punch and I just a cheeseburger) and a Special Beef Brisket Poutine to share. Oh. My. God. The poutine was seriously delicious. Possibly the best I've had. So flavourful, hot gravy and melty cheese...perfection. The brisket was delicious and we unearthed a few mushrooms too. Yum! The burgers were also delicious but absolutely enormous. We probably could've shared one burger between the two of us (though the leftovers were really good a day later!). Wouldn't hesitate to come back for a quick bite - but be wary of the sizes. The prices should've tipped us off but didn't

Grill Gate is always our burger go to place, juicy and full of flavors the spicy cheese burger us our favorite, never make us disappointed. The price is very reasonable too. The parking is a little bit troublesome as it us open to Yonge Street. We always park at Yonge and Arnold Cres, there is a parking lot free for 2 hours at north east corner, walking for a block is definitely worth For that yummy burger. Try it when you are in the area.

The food actually looks like the pictures! I have tried more than half their menus and they are all tasty! Just go to their Instagram and choose whatever looks appealing to you and you will not be disappointed. Also, I recommend having the food inside the restaurant because of their nice atmosphere

AMAZING BURGER AND POUTINE! Went for a Sunday indulgence and the Spicy Mushroom burger and Chicken Poutine fries were unreal!

When you go to Grill Gate, you will genuinely have a hearty meal because their burgers are *extremely* filling. Personally, I find them a touch too greasy as they sit heavy on the stomach afterwards, but in the moment they taste delicious. The restaurant itself is a bit small, but it is in a great location in downtown Richmond Hill. I shared their classic cheeseburger and mushroom cheeseburger with three other people and there were still leftovers! The portions are seriously heavy. I would highly recommend sharing a cheeseburger between two people. My favourite part of the meal had to be the fries though. They come with this delicious special sauce that is an absolute must-try. It's mayonnaise mixed with some garlic and parsley maybe? I'm not sure, but it tastes great, so definitely order the sauce on the side to try!

Their Philly Steak Sandwich, Mushroom Cheeseburger, and Guacamole Cheeseburger are absolutely UNBEATABLE!!!! I mean it. No other place in Richmond Hill serves cheeseburgers and Philly steak sandwiches this good. If you're hungry and craving something something that'll hit the spot, I recommend this place. These guys are good at what they do and I hope they stay in business for many years to come.

It is worth a try, I order a mushroom cheeseburger for me and a Philly sandwich for my son. His sandwich is huge and loaded with meat. The burger is not my favorite food is always greasy, but it is the fat and greasy that make it taste good.

Excellent food for a great price. Love their burgers and their cheese steak sandwich are great. Plus their fries are fantastic. Why do I give them only four stars? They don't have an online ordering and payment option for pick-up. Give me that and they would get five.

This spot hits all the right notes. Great value. Great taste. Great menu. I had the philly cheese steak and it was surprisingly awesome. The bread is soft but doesn't fall apart under the weight of the huge amount of meat they give. The bread is prepared so that it's thickness is pretty thin so you never have bites with just bread. Every bite has meat. The quality of ingredients is amazing. This is a fresh take on the philly cheese steak, with it's non-traditional use of special sauce, parsley, and unique bread presentation and it totally delivers. The fries are great but I'd rather have 2 sandwiches instead of fries.

This place is not the best if you are with a large group of people. Even though the place is so small the service is no bueno and the waitress has some attitude that she must drop if she would like a tip. The employees look like they are getting paid minimum wage. The poutine looks very unappetizing and the food takes forever, while there special sauce is just ranch. Plus a bottle of water is $2.25, I could fawad to the gas station and cop one for $1.49. Overall I do not recommend but if you are willing to wait a long time for your food in a cramped space you may dine here on your next food adventure.

A solid burger. You won't be disappointed. You may want to lay off the fries a bit so you leave room for their burger. We were pleasantly surprised. Chew slowly, it's heavy and those prone to indigestion will feel it. Other than that, a juicy, delicious burger! Enjoy.

Did appreciate that they are not following covid protocol in the kitchen... very disappointed. too pricey... are you aware of the current climate ? Lower your prices and maybe people will come in

Only ever had the philly steak sandwich, had it multiple times. Flavour is excellent along with the bread, however it is quite greasy and not for anyone trying to stay healthy. Very meat heavy and the portion is great as well.

If one day you wanted to really treat yourself to the most amazing sandwich at a very reasonable price and get the most professional service in a friendly, clean, and efficient restaurant then visit Grill Gate in Richmond Hill. You will be genuinely surprised! I just have to warn you that the food is so amazing that you may become addicted! I have not visited the North York location yet, however the 5 times I have been to the Richmond Hill location I have been very pleased with the quality and consistency of my super sandwich. 100% 5 out of 5 stars each time. I highly recommend the Philly steak sandwich. And trust me at first it looks like just half a sandwich but it is massive and they are very generous with the amount of steak in there.

This burger is so blessed. Eggplant sounds wack on a burger but it's so blessed . This is the spot to go to. Pretty good price for the amazing quality. The cook was real cool. 12/10.

Food is ok, just big, tastes same as most places nothing really special. But they charge a bit too much, for example if you want to add bacon they charge you 2.99, really? Also in this time of social distancing they dont care. We ordered on phone and when i went to pick up the man and the woman (guessing the owners) did not care how many people come inside to either pick up or order. At one point there was 7 people inside and the waiting area is so small. Only because the owners are iranians and all the customer's at that time )even the skip the dishes driver), are iranians dont mean they can do whatever the hell they want. I dont recomand at all. Also on the phone we did say no combo just 4 orders of frise in side, yet they charged $4.99 for 4 combos. Stay away completley.

The philly steak sandwich is massive. The spicy mushroom cheese burger was amazing! Service was great. Prices are decent too. Definitely a must try.

Not sure if it's horrible experience when you only order take out or it's always like this. Ordered two pizzas, the "chef pizza" taste so bad that I have to throw it away due to health concerns! The other one went straight to fridge maybe for "later" since tastes like frozen microwave pizza. First experience, was the worst.

The people are so nice, the music was a whole vibe and the food! the food!!! It's too good to be true! Wow I didn't know a Philly stake sandwich could have so many different flavours, definitely coming back with the family!

Saw an ad on Facebook and decided to give it a try. The vegetarian pizza was the best mingling of flavors I have ever had on a pizza! We will be back!

Excellent sandwiches. Very flavourful and the portion sizes are huge. We tried the steak and cheese sandwich and the kabab role. Both were really good. Can't wait to go back and try something different.
