Grilled Cheese Social Eatery

I love this place since it opened in Barrie. Little bit pricy. Have had most of their menus. All good. They used to serve really good salad. But it seems ordinary salad now. I guess it is because everything expensive now. I noticed someone pointed their chips. Yes it used to be really good kettle chips. Still love this place.

My Mac n’ cheese grilled cheese sandwich was delicious! The decor is really cool inside. Super tasty place for comfort homestyle cooking. Dessert was good too!

You have GOT TO treat yourself to a meal here. Very best grilled cheese sandwiches EVER! Incredible variety from which to choose. We tried the Green Goddess and the Tomavo and shared half + half. Both were soooo delicious. The atmosphere is totally relaxed and welcoming. The decor is eye-catching, to say the least, and you should play a round or two of "Food for Thought" while you chow down. I wish I could give this place SIX stars out of five!

Order customize white bread with pulled pork, extra mozzarella, and spinach. And it was so DELICIOUS! The pulled pork is amazing and well cooked. Would definitely come back for next time!

Loved the food options, service and decor. The grilled cheese and sandwiches were good but not over the top. You simply have to check out the bathroom!

This sandwich shop on the main drag in Barrie is righteous! The setting is warm, welcoming and very eclectic :-). The design is stimulating, the service spot on and the grilled cheese totally tasty. Well done on serving up some yummy comfort food!

A quaint local eatery that delivers what's promised -- great variations on the classic grilled cheese. Staff are friendly and quick. My favourite thing about this place is that you can purchase coffee/meals "in advance" for others who need to eat but may not have money which is a great way to support the Community. Restaurant needs a deep-clean but I understood that that is underway. I hope that a change in ownership doesn't change this wonderful Barrie gem.

Are you kidding me??? Why isn't this in Toronto?? I'd be a weekly customer. Fantastic in every way, wonderful styling, amazing food, selections are out of this world. Friendly staff and incredible value. Had the Mac&Cheese, wonderful. Keep up the great work, you are loved.

*Covid Review* My partner and I came here on a beautiful summer day. We sat on the patio on the sidewalk along Dunlop. Our server was kind and masked up. She told us about the menu being posted outside of the shop so we could take a picture and look at it on our phones without having to touch anything. There were so many options, it was hard to choose. I gave the server 2 options and let the chef pick with a side of salad. My partner ordered the pierogi grilled cheese with chips. My partner liked his, however he was hungry afterwards. I would say it would be good to come here if you're looking for a light lunch, or wanted to indulge in some ice cream afterwards. I received the mac and cheese with bacon. Although I ordered salad, I got chips. I'm sure they would have switched it out, but I like kettle chips lol. It was fried perfectly, filing and tasted good. The cheese flavour was lighter than I prefer (I like sharp cheddar). You have to pay inside (don't forget your mask). Most of the grilled cheeses are reasonably priced.

Grilled cheese sammys with attitude. I needed some "road food" (edible in the car with one hand) and I recall having been here before. It was a few minutes out of my way, but by phoning in the order I could make it an efficient stopover. I ordered the Cuban: Swiss Cheese, Ham, BBQ Pulled Pork with Mustard and Fried Pickle on Rye Bread with a side of kettle chips. The sandwich was crisp, gooey and flavourful, with the tang from the pickles. The chips seemed more like packaged chips rather than the thicker, crunchier kettle chips I had last time. There is a good variety of interesting sandwich options, with gluten free and vegan on the list. $16 for a grilled cheese sandwich may seem a bit pricey but it was worth it considering the cheese kept any stray bits from messing up my car.

Ok what a great find today, we were on our way to eat somewhere else and decided to go to have Grilled Cheese sandwich's. The interior was very cozy and cool with the music just as interesting. The girl waitress that helped us was really nice and very helpful. I asked her what the very best sandwich was she pointed to the Dillicious it was amazing. My wife had the club and our children had the Mac and Cheese sandwiches they also loved there choices. For desert I had a Butter Pecan tart omg so good. On our next visit back to Canada we have put the Grilled Cheese social eatery every trip.

Caught this place on the map on our way back from Gravenhurst towards Georgetown. The serving is smaller than I expected for its price but the quality is top notch. We ordered the "Lord Cheesus" $9.45 and the "Monte Cristo" $10.95.

We were in Barrie for the Canada Day long weekend and were looking for a nice restaurant to have our lunch. We found this place through yelp. We did not have any reservations so we just decided to walk in. It is a small restaurant with a few tables inside the restaurant. Though it is small still it is nice and cozy. When we went inside the restaurant it was full so we had to couple minutes before we got a table. Everything on their menu looked amazing. We ordered 'The Wake N Bacon' & 'The Club'. Both the sandwiches were delicious. The wake N Bacon had a fried egg with cheddar, Bacon and avocado. It was very nice grilled had the buttery taste with lots of cheese and to my surprise egg was perfectly cooked with liquid yolk. That's how I like my egg with yolk ooozing out. The club was also as good as it can get. Though there were so many things in it you could still taste all the flavours. The had some sauces on the table, there was a green one we absolutely loved. It was hot but we really liked it. I wish I would have seen the name and I could buy it from a supermarket. We will definitely go back to Barrie and just because of this restaurant. I am 110% okay to drive for 1.5-2hrs just to have their delicious sandwiches.

This spot has a great social atmosphere. There's lots of parking too behind the building even on a Sunday! Lots of variety of grilled cheeses and ice teas. My colleague naheem had never had grilled cheese before and he absolutely loved it.

I just get the basic grilled cheese. I don't need the fancy other cheese sandwiches. It is pure perfection. I always get it with a salad but the salad is never as good as the first visit. It had to do with the dressing. It's a honey vinaigrette. I think there was more honey in the dressing the first time. Not my type of dressing until I tried it. Wow! I was converted! It's a great place to gather with friends. The decor is quirky. They offer water for the table with a stem of mint leaves. It's a bit pricey but definitely worth it to me for an occasional treat.

About 30 different grilled cheese choices. Fun spot to check out for sure. No booths just chair and tables.

I sent a message asking if they carried any cheese that has no modified milk, real cheese has none. I was told they have a vegan soy cheese. That was not my question, when I explained my question again I got no response. I would conclude if you want real cheese in your sandwich this is not the place to go.

Came with the wife & 1 year old son as a stopover during Labour Day, and the food & service were great. We sat out on the sunny patio on the street, and our wait was short (they are made to order, so there is a wait). Sandwiches came with a side (salad/chips), and the sandwiches came at the same time, with perfect texture and temperature. It's what you'd hope/expect from a grilled cheese shop. Prices are more than fair as well. We'd definitely come back.

Wow, the hype is real. I just wish the hours were a bit longer but I suppose finding myself in Barrie during the operating hours of this place is a treat knowing I can secure myself likely the best grilled cheese i've ever eaten. For real!!! It's that good. Maybe you ask then, why not 5 stars... it's because it's just a grilled cheese place... it will only satisfy that one real craving, and i'm not hating on that. Just 4 is a happy place for a one food spot.. it's basically a 5 in that genre, but overall a 4.... i'm yammering on now... eat grilled cheese! And do it here!

I've been here a few times, it's always my first choice if I'm down town and it's open (sadly they close at 4:00). Best grilled cheese hands down, very reasonably priced, awesome service, cool artsy hipster atmosphere. They have grilled cheese art on the walls, and it's very cozy. Everything's delicious in different ways, my top two sandwiches are Green Goddess (when I wanna feel healthy), and the Wakin' Bacon (when I want to have a foodgasm). The Mac n' Cheese and Hawaiian pizza one are delicious too though... EVERYTHING IS A++

My husband and I have been walking by this place for the past three years and we finally said let's give it a try. It is the absolute best grilled cheese sandwich you would ever have in your life. The owner is very friendly helped us pick the perfect sandwich and let me Tell you. Don't walk by this window for the next three years like we did and not try it out you won't be disappointed. The food is Superfresh the bacon was very crisp the atmosphere is great

Was not impressed by food at all overpriced and amateurish. Décor is odd hipsterish kitsch. Food was not as good as anyone could make at home. Bland cheese on Wonderbread with no name potato chips on wax paper. I don't get the hype. Possibly I ordered the wrong one since others seem to like the place. I will give it another try despite the owners tirade about my Tripadvisers review.

Lord Chesus this place is on fire. Honestly though this place is a cheese lovers dream. Delicious varities of sandwichs with loads of topping choices. I also love the funky atmosphere

First impressions are everything. It was just okay. I had the apple bacon jam brie arugula and cheddar grilled cheese. It looks like the Flavour combinations are decent on the menu. Quality - fresh but no quality control. My grilled cheese was served burnt on the bottom. I wouldn't mention it if it were just dark. It was black with burnt flavour overpowering the flavours of the sandwich. What I would improve is quality inspection of what leaves the kitchen and probably use higher quality artisan breads. I won't be a repeat customer but do hope that changes can be made as this could be a great stop. You only get one chance to make a first impression.

I've been here several times on the weekends with my daughter. Very cool little place on the inside, and they do a great job of giving you a wide range of grilled cheeses. Oh, and they taste great too!

I stopped in for Lunch on a short stay in Barrie. My Parisian sandwich was excellent. Reasonably priced and a relaxed ambiance. Could do with wifi!

I'm late to post this as I was here a couple weeks ago.. Anyways to try and keep it short my and my boyfriend were treated so poorly by the man serving us. I ordered a regular grilled cheese on WHOLE WHEAT he brought me a grilled cheese made with white so I asked him I said "excuse me is this whole wheat or white?" He said "ohhhh it's white I forgot" in the rudest voice ever he says "did you want me to make you a new one.." I said "yes please if that's okay" AND THEN HE HAS THE NERVE TO SAY and I quote "well not really" and then he paused and then ended up saying that he will make it anyway. What a grumpy man me and my boyfriend will NEVER go back we were so angry. I should add that when we were about to leave he apologized and said he was having a bad day...are you kidding me. Also my boyfriend liked the food but it was Way too greasy for me.

I was in Barrie a few weeks ago, and while walking along Dunlop, I got hungry. There was a grilled cheese restaurant with a sign outside; so I went in. The menu is written on a chalk board on the wall. The decision was hard; but I made a good choice, brie, with a multi grain bread. The girl asked me if I wanted water with my food; and when I sat outside at the sidewalk patio; she brought me spring water in a bottle shaped like an old fashioned milk bottle. Inside the bottle was a slice of lemon, orange, rosemary sprigs, and another herb, probably basil. The water was SO cold, it was delish. Now, with the sandwich, boy o boy; this place is terrific. I know that when I go back to Barrie again, I'm definitely going back, and will try another of their specialties. They have the regular grilled cheese we can make at home, but these gourmet sammies are really really good. You must try it.
