Grimm's Hotel am Potsdamer Platz

Really liked this hotel. You can catch a lot of trains from this location. Easy access to different parts of the city. The interior is a bit basic so more appropriate for a business traveler but pretty clean. Overall I’m happy with my stay. The staff were always helpful and gave me some great tips.

We had the same issues as others - bathroom fan never turns off, so there is noise all night, which you can clearly hear even with the bathroom door closed. There is no minibar, no coffee, fridge or water provided in the rooms - just glasses to drink from the bathroom taps. The breakfast buffet was nice, but expensive at 21E per person. Reception staff were nice.

The location works well for me but it is an extremely basic hotel. The towels could be better (very low quality) and a bottle of water in the room could be appreciated since there is no shops around the hotel. The room was extremely hot and I could change the temperature. There is a ventilation that runs inside the bathroom all the time, making a massive noise. First and last time staying here.

I stayed at this hotel from February 14-21 for Berlinale and initially loved the room, location, and breakfast. The staff was friendly, but my experience was completely overshadowed by a serious issue with customer service. On the night of February 18, I returned from a full day of festival events to find my room had no electricity. The front desk staff informed me that the technician had already gone home and no other rooms were available due to the festival. I had an important presentation the next morning, yet I was told to "get through the night if possible." As a result, I couldn’t charge my laptop or phone and had to navigate the room using my phone's flashlight. The next day, I requested a refund for the night, but the hotel manager only offered a 20% refund, citing "German policy." When I tried to negotiate, he became visibly hostile—standing up as if to confront me—which made me feel intimidated and mistreated. Later, when I followed up via email, he responded with a screenshot of some "rules" in German (despite me not speaking German) and eventually increased the refund to 50%. I truly wanted to love this hotel—the staff (aside from management) and the food were great—but this experience completely changed my perception. I can’t believe this is a hotel recommended by Berlinale. Extremely disappointing customer service.

A very pleasant discovery: rooms a generous (and I chose the simplest room category) and spick-and-span, service staff at restaurant super friendly and accommodating (loved their recommendations) and the location is as central as it can get in Berlin. Great value for money! Will come again.

I have enjoyed very much. Nice and clean room. Breakfast was good. Location good as well. I recommend this hotel.

The only thing that is very good in this hotel, is the breakfast. The bedsheets are too small, the wifi connection poor, no amenities in the bathroom, no fridge in the room, a noisy street around with traffic and a metro, no room service for food or drinks, slow and uncoordinated staff and a manager that is not responsive. I stayed 13 nights in this hotel and didn’t have a single night of good sleep due to the very small bed sheets and noise outside. I asked (4 days before) for a room upgrade from single to double halfway my stay because my girlfriend was joining. The staff first promised an extra bed, and then a change, but also said they couldn’t reach the manager because he was sick (not my problem). Result was that we had to sleep one night together in a single bed before it was organized. For the price you pay, all of the above is unacceptable.

Really great for a solo female traveller. Great on site restaurant if you're feeling the need to stay put, lovely views and my room was very well soundproofed. The staff are really friendly and accommodating, and the food is delicious and reasonably priced. A little oasis in central Berlin :)

Overall, The Grimm was ok; however, the hotel DOES NOT have air conditioning. The website stated the hotel has air conditioning but it does not. We contacted the front desk and someone came to "check the system", but it did nothing. Over the 5 nights we stayed at The Grimm, I adjusted the thermostat to both very high and very low and this made no difference in the room temperature. If you try to open the windows, it is VERY LOUD outside at all hours if the night making it impossible to sleep. The front desk claimed the "air conditioning system" for the hotel is not actually a "true air conditioning" but is rather dependent on outside temperatures. No vents or fans are used in this system. If you want air conditioning and a quiet hotel, book elsewhere. We asked for an isolation fan to move some air with in our room, but the front desk told us they did not have any

Love this place! The theme of the hotel is super cute, my husband couldn't stop taking pictures of everything! The breakfast is outstanding, you really get a lot for your money. It included different kind of Brotchen, croissants, chocolate croissants, almond croissants, oatmeal, different cereals, milk, yoghurt, fresh cut fruit, whole fruit, eggs, sausage, bacon, pie, big cheese platter, Camembert cheese platter, cream cheese, different cold cuts and sausages, mozzarella and tomato platter, vegetable platter with cucumber, tomato, peppers, different juices like cherry, orange, multi vitamin, different jellies, honey, Nutella, gruetze with vanilla sauce, coffee, cappuccino, mocha, hot chocolate, teas. We LOVED the authentic German breakfast! Everyone was really nice and helpful. The rooms were very good architectural structured and organized! Very clean! The rain shower was my favorite! We hit the gym in the morning at the upper floor and had a great view of the city. Definitely would come again and bring my husbands parents!
