Really pleasant campsite. The toilets and showers were clean and well maintained. The communal area was cosy and clean. Outdoor playground for kids just outside. Friendly staff and the drive here, through fresh lava fields and an evacuated town that was empty, felt surreal, out of this world but also kind of cool and special.

Decent, fairly small campsite with all the facilities. Close to airport for start/end of trip. Nice clean communal room too. Beware. Village shops/cafés all shut as recently evacuated due to volcanic activity. Very few residents left living there now so don't rely on the town for shopping.

Good campsite with all facilities you need (big kitchen, showers, toilets). Accepts camping card. Close to the airport so a good first and last stop on your ring road trip. We stayed the first night, got evacuated in the middle of the night due to a volcanic eruption, and returned after two weeks for the last two nights, to see the eruption and to get back to the airport. The vicinity to the airport also means it is really crowded, so don't expect any privacy or a nice quiet spot - it looks more like a parking lot and if you are lucky you have two meters to the next camper so you can put up your ladder to get into your rooftop tent. As it is the first and last stop for most, a lot of people leave food in the kitchen for the next travellers. Food waste is the worst thing we know so we were glad to find some things for the road and to leave some for the next. However the owners don't seem to appreciate this and leave signs not to leave food, and they throw away left-over food at night. Instead we would rather have liked to see some encouragement of leaving and taking food that actually remains fine. E.g. put up a note where to put stuff for the next people, so people know what they can take, and be clear to only leave stuff that lasts without refrigerator. It's sad to see stuff like oil, pasta and cans of soup go to waste, while a lot of campers would be thankful if they can take some and know what is free for them to take. Just make a designated corner with clear instructions :)

Great location close to airport. Price was very reasonable I believe it was just over 4000 ISK for 2 people. Great amenities - had a large shared kitchen space indoors, multiple clean bathrooms, and a playground for kids. Crowded but still felt comfortable, everyone was respectful of quiet hours.

Absolutely great spot, TONS of food supplies that campers have left so stop here FIRST! Just as the reviews said it’s in the middle of recently evacuated Grindavík so you get an incredible view of the cooled lava. Super well maintained facilities and CLEAN kitchen.

This campsite is definitely one of the best we stayed at during our trip. Beautifully maintained grass, good facilities, and showers without the need for coins – a big plus! On top of that, it’s located close to a lake, which makes the setting even more pleasant. A real highlight is the common room with a kitchen – modern, spacious, and with large glass windows offering a great view. It’s the perfect spot to cook, relax, and share experiences with other travelers. What I don’t quite understand is why it closes at 10 PM, which seems to be the standard for most Icelandic campsites. It shouldn’t be a problem to keep the kitchen and common area open later, especially for those arriving late or wanting to enjoy a quiet evening. 👉 Overall, an excellent campsite that I would definitely recommend!

COME HERE FOR YOUR FIRST STAY Super clean campsite with multiple bathrooms and showers. Awesome common room and kitchen Mostly used as a last stop before leaving Iceland by many people. Come over here to stock up on oil, spices, cleaning supplies, gas cannisters, pasta and bunch of other food. Would save you some good money on things you would need to get for yourself regardless

Nice place. Big kitchen, kitchenware (but no pots, few pans), showers included in the price. Accepts camping card. Near airport. Next time I would start the trip from this campsite, because there's a lot of free food and gass canisters. Compared to other campsites, this is a nice place, because of the inside area. Can be crowded.
