Good campsite with all facilities you need (big kitchen, showers, toilets). Accepts camping card. Close to the airport so a good first and last stop on your ring road trip. We stayed the first night, got evacuated in the middle of the night due to a volcanic eruption, and returned after two weeks for the last two nights, to see the eruption and to get back to the airport. The vicinity to the airport also means it is really crowded, so don't expect any privacy or a nice quiet spot - it looks more like a parking lot and if you are lucky you have two meters to the next camper so you can put up your ladder to get into your rooftop tent. As it is the first and last stop for most, a lot of people leave food in the kitchen for the next travellers. Food waste is the worst thing we know so we were glad to find some things for the road and to leave some for the next. However the owners don't seem to appreciate this and leave signs not to leave food, and they throw away left-over food at night. Instead we would rather have liked to see some encouragement of leaving and taking food that actually remains fine. E.g. put up a note where to put stuff for the next people, so people know what they can take, and be clear to only leave stuff that lasts without refrigerator. It's sad to see stuff like oil, pasta and cans of soup go to waste, while a lot of campers would be thankful if they can take some and know what is free for them to take. Just make a designated corner with clear instructions :)
