On the Grid : Grød

"GRØD if you’ve done your research translates to porridge, and in the morning, that’s exactly what you’ll find. This cosy little shop on Jægersborggade gives you the option to grab and go or to sit in and enjoy your colourful bowl of seasonal ingredients. By night you’ll find the same warm atmosphere you can expect by day complimented with an ever-changing selection of mouth-watering risottos." - Kaktus København

10 Best Street Food Spots in Copenhagen

"Porridge may be an oft-overlooked dish in most parts of the world, but it’s a Copenhagen favorite, and Grød does it right. The proof of its success is in the—uh—porridge, with six locations across the city, including a lively walk-up porridge bar at the Torvehallerne market. The seasonal menu boasts approximately four porridges, including the beloved gooseberry chia special (chia seed pudding, organic almond milk, and roasted coconut flakes) and gluten-free porridge with oats, quinoa, and organic almond milk. Customize these with toppings like cocoa nibs, freeze-dried raspberries, and apple compote." - Jenna Scatena

As a tourist from Ukraine, of course, it was a bit expensive for me. But if you compare in general with the prices in Copenhagen, then +- normal prices. The dish was very tasty, the place is spacious, there were few people in the morning in autumn. Only my plate was cracked, but maybe it all goes into the atmosphere of the place, I don't know🤪

Google
Yummy and filling! Got the congee with chicken and it was well seasoned with generous toppings. The carrot juice was a nice surprise too!

Google
Had breakfast here after being recommended by several people. I have to say they were not wrong. I had the porridge 1, and it was one of the best I ever had. Fresh toppings, right temperature and texture. The bowl may look small, but remember that it is porridge, that will fill you up. The hot chocolate was alright, nothing special but not bad either. The staff was very nice, and the place was very cozy. The price is not too bad for Copenhagen, I recommend it if you are looking for a more budget friendly breakfast in the city.

Google
Great food and juices. The atmosphere was cozy as well and it's a nice spot to enjoy brunch/lunch with friends or chilling with a book. Vegan/Vegetarian options are clearly labelled. I think it's a tiny bit expensive for what it is, but for Copenhagen prices it's fine.

Google
Simply delicious food. The Red Daal Bowl was awesome. The dal was well cooked and tasty. Nice quantity. The veggies were fresh. Loves it so much that I had two. Place is nice and cozy.

Google
Lovely place for breakfast with excellent coffee and the best porridge I've had outside of home. It really is that good! I had the porridge 1 with apple, roasted almond and caramel sauce, delicious. My husband had the all in, an impressive amount of toppings although some of the flavors like peanut butter were a bit overwhelming. Prices are on par with any other breakfast in Copenhagen. If you love porridge, don't miss this place!

Google
A must-do! The welcome is lovely, especially with Sacha's smile and professionalism. The dishes are excellent for breakfast, brunch, and dinner. I had a great brunch there, and for dinner, I enjoyed an excellent Dahle. The atmosphere is totally hygge. A great experience. Thank you.

Google
I have heard a lot about this place, every person I talk to seem to love Grød. So I had high expectations when I finally came here, I was not disappointed. Super cozy décor. Staff was friendly and fast. The food was great, also the lemonade and matcha drink was really nice. Loved it, now I will join my friends in singing its praises.

Yelp
After having the Chicken Congee at TorvehallerneKBH the first time, I was craving to go back and try a sweet bowl of porridge. This time around I went all out and ordered the ALL IN! Porridge. It has all the toppings (bananas, coconut shavings, apples, peanut butter, yogurt, nuts and what not! It costs about USD $14. For for the quantity and quality of ingredients, I would say it wasn't bad at all. When I say I was FULL after that bowl, it is an understatement. I highly recommend you try at least one sweet and savory bowl of porridge here. If I ever come back to CPH, this is the first place I will visit.

Yelp
I got the beet juice and risotto and both were fantastic! Great flavors and atmosphere, and a short wait to order and receive food. The risotto was plenty filling and tasty, and was a really unique option for a breakfast/lunch item. Will be back again!

Yelp
Love this restaurant but wish the daal came with a spice warning! Totally cleared my sinuses but don't think I'll order this dish again. Tried my friends açaí bowl though and absolutely loved

Yelp
tl;dr : It should be a crime to visit Copenhagen without visiting Grød. Wide variety of sweet and savory porridges fit for all meals. Pea porridge and oat porridge are must haves! Delicious cup of Cortado to wash it down. *** The long read *** This restaurant has taken a simple ingredient and elevated it to another level. It's a small place but one that deserves all your attention. Ambience: You'll see the outside seating with a sign up top reading 'Grød'. A hustle and bustle of people outside on any day will let you know that you're at the right place. On weekends the line extends outside but it's a fast moving one. They have seating both inside and outside. You order at the counter and take your coffee to the table along with the order number. Food is brought to you. The inside seating is across 2 rooms which gives a feeling of an old school apartment converted into a cafe. They have free wifi so don't forget to check in and upload your grams! Food : They offer a host of sweet and savory porridge options. Here's a breakdown of some of my favorites. Oat porridge : Grød with fresh cut apples, almonds for the crunch and caramel sauce. The porridge is rich, creamy and cooked to perfection. The blend of freshness of the fruit, crunch from the nuts and the sweetness from the caramel forms a delicate yet delicious balance. Pea risotto : Risotto with mashed pea, cream, parmesan cheese, a dollop of ricotta. Pea sprouts added in for the freshness. The rich aroma of risotto and tanginess from the lemon vinaigrette is like foreplay of senses. A bite of this is worth a visit to this place. Berry Chia pudding: I ordered this not knowing the quantity of the other food. It's served in a small bowl . Chia pudding made with almond milk and berry jam. It's topped with roasted coconut flakes, freeze dried raspberries (Oh the tanginess!!). It's sweet, cruncy, fresh and the perfect start of the day. Cortado: Strong espresso, steamed milk served in a beautiful cortado cup. Their cups are unique and they even sell them incase you wish to purchase. Chicken congee : Tried this for dinner on a rainy day. Hot rice porridge with chicken and peanuts. Spring onions for freshness. The spice was really good especially on a rainy day. I can see this being a comfort food. The ginger in it was a little over powering especially the tiny pieces of it but it may just have been an off day. Still very delicious! All in all, this place is definitely on my list of places to visit again. If you can't decide between sweet or savory, get both like me. This is what I'd imagined when they say 'Breakfast like a king...'

Yelp
Don't get the hype. Just random, mediocre bowls with flavors that don't quite complement each other. Edible, cozy, but not something that I would try again. Service is fine.

Yelp
This place takes oatmeal to a whole new level. I am a fan of oatmeal but I actually don't believe in buying it outside of a grocery store in a container just because it's going to be overpriced. But I came here to venture out and see what the hooplah was about. I was in Copenhagen, mid day and I was sorta hungry. Not sure what to eat but I found that this place was around the block. Oats are hearty, and it was a rainy day, I could use something warm in my belly. I ordered the first option on the menu in a small. Now folks, this small was way too much for me to eat. So maybe share 1 unless you LOVEEEEEEE oatmeal and you eat 2 servings normally at home. Especially consider the toppings will add more bulk to your meal. Not sure if the oatmeal itself tasted like regular oatmeal or was it flavored with spices. The caramel on the side was sorta mixed with each bite I took so I got oats+sweet caramel. It wasn't bad. I normally like Oatmeal, so I found it tasty. It didn't however blow my mind. If you don't like oatmeal, I doubt this will change your mind drastically. It's a pretty cost to pay for oatmeal. They have other meals there but i didn't explore much of the other items. Oh, and you can get the rest of the oats to go incase you can't finish it in one sitting (moi).

Yelp
We spent the morning walking around Nørrebro, so by the time we came in the restaurant we were shivering and ready to warm up. This was the PERFECT place to do so. The porridges, the risottos, and all the other bowls we got not only filled us up but warmed us up too. We got: the kale risotto, oat porridge 2, the mushroom barley-otto, the chicken congee, organic risengrød 2, and a build your own porridge. We loved our choices, and were surprised by the size. I, for one, was. The bowl of porridge I ate was much larger than what I expected for the small size. Would so come back here. In fact, I'm going to make an effort to come back at least once before my time is up here in Copenhagen!

Yelp
It's raining and cold, so we decided to look for a place that serves affordable hot food. We were joking about getting porridge, but what do you know. Of course we found porridge in Copenhagen. Got to go with the good old chicken porridge. Their porridge consistency is definitely thicker than most Cantonese porridge. It's more of a Chiu Chow style. Lots of peanuts, which isn't bad. I just prefer it to be little more plain. Nothing the less still good. Carrot Risotto was nice little but salty, mix feelings on this one. Rhubarb Chia seed think açaí bowl substitute with Rhubard, add a bit of sweet to balance the meal. It was just the right fix and to find comfort food like this in the cold was golden. Like it so much that they have a stall at the street food market close by Nyhavn that we ordered the chicken porridge again and added a caramel porridge which IMO tasted like pop corn. If you like popcorn you'll definitely like the caramel porridge. At this location there is WiFi and after you're thing get a cup of joe across the street and venture down some of the small art galleries. Happy discovering!!!

Yelp
This place is great! Both their savory and breakfast options are amazing. For lunch yesterday I had the mushroom barley risotto and it was delectable. The time with the warmed pickled mushrooms was such a flavor sensation and really made the dish. For breakfast today I had their oatmeal with the apples, almonds, and caramel and added banana. It was delicious. My friends got the all topping oatmeal and my other made her own. Both thought it was a little too sweet and overwhelming. I think with the breakfast options stick with the premade ones they have or make your own but I definitely think less is better otherwise the oatmeal itself kind of loses its flavor. This place is super reasonably priced and so yummy. Would totally recommend and come back. It's in a cute location too. Generous portions.

Yelp
Really yummy porridge and healthy options! I got one with chocolate, chia, dried raspberries and compote. Came STEAMING hot (like, burned my mouth because I wasn't careful!) which I'm not complaining about, nice staff and good latte too.

Yelp
Totally forgot to write this when I went in December but here it is. This place was a dream come true. I love porridge and anything resembling porridge and it was amazing. The flavors were spectacular. I had the barley one and it took a while longer to make but it was worth the wait!!! The place is a bit cramped but I think that's just every other place in the area. Worth the money, in my opinion! Would definitely be back!

Yelp
This is my second Grod visit and location, and there will be plenty more in the future. Location: the Torvehallerne location is much more difficult to find seating, but this Grod is a hole-in-the-wall place tucked away in an alley with abundant seating. We were a group of 3 and had no issue staying in the restaurant for over 3 hours. Granted, we came at 1:30 so after any possible lunch crazes. Menu: same options as their other locations. Still reasonably priced, averaging 75-80kr. All 3 of us ordered the (small) risotto and prolonged the experience for as long as we physically could, because it's /that/ good. We also ordered the blueberry porridge to share, which was a refreshing cap to an otherwise heavy, savory risotto lunch. Tip: The small risotto is quite filling, but the blueberry porridge definitely wouldn't have been filling as its own meal. Service: all of the ladies were excellent and attentive, and the wait time for our 3 risottos was barely noticeable.

Yelp
This place makes porridge look AND taste cool. I'm talking, let's go back everyday kinda deal. They have all kinds of sweet and savory porridges. If that was not enough, you can make your own too with all the different toppings. For all the budget conscious folks - this is it. You'll be able to eat properly without breaking your bank. There are menu options in English and most options are vegetarian! Highly recommend for an awesome experience!

Yelp
This is a typical example of why Instagram has had a negative impact on the food scene. I don't want to sound negative, I love Instagram but Grod is exactly what is wrong with it. Pretty food does not equal great food! Ok - stepping off my soap box now. My friend really wanted to go to Grod so when it was closed at our visit due to Christmas break we returned the next day. It was quite empty on a weekday morning, the staff was quite friendly and the food was made on the spot. Even though we were one of the onky ones it took them forever to serve our food, I don't want to know how they do it when they are busy. I had the ALL-IN porridge and it looked amazing but I didn't think it tasted that much different from the oats I make on a busy morning so I really don't get the hype. In addition, I found it too sweet. I understand that this is personal but it would be better if you could adjust the sweetness level. The portion was huge though, even as an oatmeal lover, I found it too much and left more than half so I felt quite wasteful. My visit to Grod left me feeling meh so I won't take a detour for it during my next Copenhagen trip.

Yelp
When did porridge become such a tasteful, fancy and good looking food? I couldn't answer that question but Grød have done it. For a fairly decent price - 45DKK to stay or 40DKK to go - you'll get an amazing and very filling serving of porridge with different toppings. I chose the banana, blueberry and cocoa bits porridge and it was very, very yummy! All along with some very nice staff, cozy environment and good coffee! Will be coming back!
google avatar

Yelp
As the name suggests, this small and hipstery (but undeniably cozy) place mainly serves different variations of grain-based porridge. However, they also serve savoury lunch and dinner options (like daal). I came here for breakfast to sample the true CPH hipster experience, and didn't really expect the porridge to be anything special (I am also not an oatmeal fan). I was wrong. I chose the spelt porridge with pears, liquorice sugar, skyr and walnuts, and it was the best porridge I have ever tasted - well-cooked, good flavour combination, and sufficiently but not overly sweetened. I also had a freshly made apple carrot ginger juice and a cappucino - both very good. Also, the atmosphere is very nice and rather more relaxing than other cafes I've had breakfast in. Just perfect!

Yelp
Crying because best oatmeal I've ever had. I got one with homemade dulce de leche, fresh apples, and roasted almonds. I WANT MOREEEE. I took it to go, biked around, and ate it at the train station - BOOM perfect to go meal. Still warm, still delicious. My airbnb host recommended me to visit the street Grod is on because the cute boutique shops, and I heard about Grod from my Stay.com app. So inexpensive, healthy, and easy. Love the concept, love everything about this place. HIGHLY recommended.

Yelp
We almost missed the entrance because the place is small. You order at the back of the restaurant and they bring the food to you. The store is adorable with snacks available to purchase like granola, dried strawberries, etc. We were recommended the following (below) and my friend and I shared both: - Risotto with asparagus, lemon and parmesan - Rhubarb with cream The risotto had the right amount of lemon and parmesan. Parmesan was sprinkled at the very top and the risotto had hints of lemon as you made your way through the bowl. This is my type of comfort food...if only I could make this at home. The rhubarb dessert... I am in love with rhubarb now. Delectable. There was a nice bit of cream on top with some graham crumbles. This location does not serve breakfast after 11 AM so we couldn't try the breakfast porridges but we heard the location in the Torvehallerne Market has their breakfast menu available all day!
google avatar

Victoria C.

Yelp
Grød is the perfect place to go get a hot breakfast that won't break the bank! I got the ALL-IN and an americano it was delicious. It kept me full for a long time. Portions are a good size. Also, if you love the bowls/mugs you can buy them in the store! Looking into getting the Grød cookbook, hoping they ship to the states
google avatar

Chantal P.

Yelp
One of my favorite places. Nice ambiance! Good bike ride out from the city so you have good fuel for the ride back. Love how they have so many options! And you can also make your own. They operate by season. Def want to come back in summer where the menu changes and they have other cool new recipes!

Yelp
Coming from London where every type of quirky cafe you could think up exists, I was a bit un-phased by an oatmeal cafe in Copenhagen. However, when my friend and I reached the "foodie street of Copenhagen" it seemed too popular to pass up. The little shop is tiny and barely had room to stand and order. They have some picnic tables outdoors that get direct sunlight so they are nice enough to eat at even on a colder day. I ordered the oatmeal with dulce de leche and almonds and substituted strawberries for whatever fruit was initially included. The oatmeal was perfectly cooked with great texture and any breakfast that involves dulce de leche is an A+ in my book so I was happy as a clam. Only problem was that the portion was quite filling and I wasn't hungry again until dinner time, which made me miss out on all the other tasty things I had wanted to try... guess I will have to return.
google avatar

Sabrina C.

Yelp
'Unique' is the first word that comes to mind when I think back on my meal at Grød. Their warm porridge is the perfect breakfast/brunch/lunch on a cold day! I ordered the traditional Danish rice pudding with tarragon sugar, organic butter, fresh pear, & toasted hazelnuts, and my friend ordered the oat porridge with dulche de leche, fresh apple, & roasted almonds. The bowls are small, but BOY are these things filling!! We barely finished ours, but they were both damn delicious. The restaurant space is tiny, much smaller than I'd imagined, so be prepared to get cozy with the strangers next to you. There are only three tables; two for two people, and one larger table that can seat about 7-8 people. But if you're lucky enough to be in CPH in the warmer months, definitely take advantage of the picnic tables outside! Though small, the place feels oh so home-y. A must-try in Copenhagen!!

Yelp
A solid budget choice in otherwise-pricey Copenhagen. Here's the way it works. In the morning, they will have 2-3 delicious choices for some sort of porridge. I had some sort of grain I'd never heard of, cooked with milk and water, covered with plum compote and some sort of Icelandic yogurt analogue. It was really delicious, filling, and only 35 kr. I also ordered a great drip coffee, which was 15 kr I think. During the evening, they have risotto choices, at 50 kr I think. The folks who worked there were very friendly, and spoke perfect English. They didn't seem to mind translating the menu for me, and asked whether I was enjoying my time in Copenhagen. If I travel back to Denmark, I'll definitely be back at Grod. Note they also have free wifi, which is helpful if you want to avoid roaming 3G charges.
google avatar

George L.

Yelp
One of my favorite eating experiences when I was in Copenhagen. I recommend you go there early for breakfast, before it gets crowded, and then do a walk through the nearby cemetery/park and see the grave sites of Hans Christian Andersen and the famous philosopher Soren Kierkegaard. As for the food, I recommend trying the rye bread porridge cooked in small beer and beet juice and then topped with hazelnuts, fruit compote and coriander syrup. It is delicious and you will know you are not in Kansas anymore. I was told there is another location for Grod but I think this one is charming. I haven't tried it for dinner, when they do more savory porridges but when I go back to Copenhagen I'll definitely come back and yep, I don't think you will find anything like this back in the states. :-)
google avatar

Ming B.

Yelp
Mixed reviews about this place. It's very cute and small and the porridge was very yummy. Our experience was however slightly ruined by the fact that we had to wait ages for our food and once it did come, everyones order (except mine) was done incorrectly which was a shame so we had to get them all fixed!! I really like the concept of a porridge bar and liked the fact that they had gluten free options as well as vegan options (soy milk). Their toppings were great too! Will hopefully have a chance to come back - perhaps the service was just off on that day!
google avatar

Matthew C.

Yelp
Best porridge ever. That's right, ever. I would've never imagined how impressive a porridge breakfast could be, but the dulce de leche porridge with apples and almonds was a true culinary delight. The ingredients were fresh and the flavors delightful. The inside space is beautiful, intimate, and quite cosy. The service staff is helpful, patient, and helpful with recommendations, if needed. A perfect place to start a lazy Norrebro morning.

Yelp
Loved the atmosphere, cozy...felt like you were stopping in at a friends house and the breAkfast was a delight...healthy and delicious...I got the cookbook I loved it so much

Yelp
Unique, affordable, adaptable and absolutely delicious every single time! You cannot go wrong with Grod, every dish is hand crafted lovingly, which is paralleled in the hand made bowls its served it. The actual shop is cosy in preparation for winter, yet so open and invited in summer. They cater to every pallet as you can decide everything down to the type of oats, the liquid additive and the toppings. Perfect for tourists and locals, and not harsh at all on the hip pocket nerve. If you can't make it out to the trendiest street in Copenhagen (Jaegersborggade) they are also conveniently located in City Food markets next to Norreport station!

Yelp
This was my fourth time eating at Grød, and the first time at this location. There is plenty of seating outside, limited inside, but still more than the Torvehallerne. Inside is unashamedly hipster, as is the surrounding shops and area. I had the spelt with figs, nuts, and cocoa nibs. This was actually the least flavorful combination I've had at Grød, so I was a little disappointed. The breakfast options were all sweet, and it seemed like there were savory options that started around 11am. Lunch options started around 12, I think. Menu is in Danish and English.
google avatar

Yelp
Autumn is in town, which means that Halloween (my favorite holiday) is close and it's time again for soups and hot chocko! :) BUT I must say I couldn't be happier sice I just discovered my new favorite place where to have lunch for the next 6 months: Grød. An hidden gem in Jægersborggade where you can enjoy some good vibes and get in the right mood while eating a delicious Risotto or drinking an energizing juice! Definitely a nice spot in town (good quality/price combo) I will suggest to all my friends :)

Yelp
I found this place thanks to yelp. I was looking for a place where I could taste a good porridge but gluten free and dairy free. So we went to the north of Copenhaguen to try this place, situated in a very cute street it was worth the trip. The place is very small but it's a nice place to sit. I took a gluten free porridge with soy milk, caramel, hazelnuts and blueberries. It was really good and it was a pleasure to finally find something thats tastes like real porridge but gluten and dairy free. My boyfriend too the normal porridge with soy milk, apple, almonds and caramel and he really loved it as well. He actually loved it so much that he wanted to take a second one. I really recommend this place.

Yelp
Really enjoyable breakfast. I'm not really used to wateryish acai bowls but this one was fine! I one time had an acai bowl that was wateryish and warm but that was in berlin. This was fantastic and the peanut butter or whatever butter that was in the bowl was ahhhhmazing.

Yelp
Recently visited this place and totally enjoyed it. The place is extremely tiny with around 8 to 10 seats. Perfect location for a cold winter lunch. Service nice and friendly. Food fresh and nicely served. Tried the barley risotto with oyster mushrooms, Danish cheese and watercress, risotto with carrots, Parmesan and sour bread croutons and as desserts tried the oatmeal porridge with dulce de leche, almonds and apples and an apple compote with skyr yoghurt and white chocolate. Everything was super tasty.

Yelp
Their congee was absolutely delightful. I can't wait to go back and have another bowl. I also had their hot ginger lemonade, which was such a soothing hot drink when feeling sick.

Yelp
Not a bad choice for a healthy and creatively prepared oat meals. I was very impressed by the different, innovative types of porridge and so far all I`ve tried has been yummy! I`ve visited Grod a couple of times and I`d suggest to everyone to try the food. The only thing that dissatisfied me in the location of Jaegersbroggade is the place itself. Although located on a very nice, "hipstery" street, it is really tiny. It kinda gets better, if the weather is nice - then you can sit outside as they have a few long tables available, but most of times they have been quite messy, stacked with dirty plates etc. Also the service has been quite slow and definitely not the most attentive and polite in that area. On the other hand - Grod in Torvehallerne is much more nice and clean and the concept really fits in to the market. Therefore 3 stars from me this time ;)

Yelp
Very tight but relaxing cafe in København N. Came in on an April Monday morning and it wasn't too crowded. Ordered the Acai-Chia Porridge and a skimmed cappuccino. Nice place to study and relax. Don't know why the porridge is called acai when there's no acai but very healthy and tasty. Would recommend if you need a break from touring the city or want to catch up on some work. Menus are available in both English and Dansk. Many choices and all vegetarian. The con is that it's somewhat expensive like most of Copenhagen.

J C.

Yelp
Groed is so, so good. Initially, I was a little skeptical. A porridge restaurant? But we went ahead and ordered a large pea risotto. It was amazing, and we ordered another large to-go. Then we returned a couple days later to order another one! We also had the acai blueberry bowl, which was delicious as well. Our meal here was a highlight of our trip to Copenhagen. The restaurant is cute. Service is a little on the slow side, but it's worth the wait! There are many reasons I love CPH, and this little restaurant is one of them.

Yelp
I was traveling through Europe for 2 weeks and I really needed something healthy in my body. In SF I would eat an acai bowl if I wanted a health kick so I looked up acai bowl on yelp and this place popped up. I showed up and ordered an acai bowl and I asked for honey as a sweetener. What I got was NOT an acai bowl and I'm not sure if they know what an acai bowl is... Not sure if they just think it's a bowl with a mix of healthy stuff but what they gave me would not constitute as an acai bowl, not in SF, not in Hawaii, and not even in Brazil where acais are from. What they gave me came with what they called Chia seed (it's actually basil seeds), topped with peanut butter, and some fruit and granola and drizzles of honey. This is NOT what I wanted, there wasn't even acai in the damn thing. I'm not sure if they know acai is even a fruit as I don't see how they could constitute that as an acai bowl without the main ingredient in the name. I was wildly disappointed to the point that I wanted to cry. My friend got the oatmeal and she said it was wayyyy over priced for what it was. She did rave about the "homemade peanut butter" but I don't love peanut butter enough to give them more stars than they deserved. Please change the name of "acai bowl" to "chia/basil seed bowl" or at least research what acai bowls are.

Yelp
Stopped off here on a food tour. YUM! Unique and unexpected - I had the split pea risotto, which was heavy but delicious. I wanted to eat it all! So friendly, and a cosy space. Check out their cookbook, too. So beautifully styled, and the recipes are inspiring because they seem so simple yet gorgeous.

Yelp
Great place to get your morning breakfast with oatmeal or yogurt. I recommend not getting the yogurt bowls because it is with sour unflavored Greek yogurt and no amount of fresh fruit will flavor this. Oatmeal however is sweet and yummy. The price is a little high for breakfast and the service was very slow! Think they need to have more than 1 person behind the counter.

Yelp
Having heard good things about Grød we eagerly headed to the restaurant, which is a little bit out of the way on foot but we like walking so that's fine. Grød is small with only 12 seats inside so be willing to make friends and cramp up next to people in the winter months. The porridge is great! A fabulous twist on an otherwise boring and uneventful food. I ate the grain porridge served with apple, raisins and ginger. It was piping hot and every bite delicious! My girlfriend ate the 'barley-otto', also delicious! The only problem is that they seemed a little short staffed. With only one staff member in the restaurant the meals took longer to arrive than one would hope, but when they did they were well worth it!

Yelp
We went there for brunch and had two bowls of porridge. If you haven't had porridge before or if you don't really like porridge you should give this a try. You can opt in for toppings like chocolate, caramel syrup and peanut butter. The portions have a good size to fill you up and they are definitely worth the 50-60 crowns per bowl. If you are looking for a quiet cozy environment or for a quick meal this is probably not the place to go. Make sure you are aware of this :)

Yelp
Oh my Grod! We wish that we had a porridge place in NYC. This place is so delicious and satisfying, we ate it 2 out of the 3 mornings that we were there. I can't tell you anything else other than just go. Get the special, customize your bowl, just go!

Yelp
Breakfast of champions! We got the apple-caramel and the apple-vanilla oatmeals, both were very good and portions are perfect to start a busy day. I appreciate the fact that you can swipe regular milk for almond milk, I'd just not recommend the matcha latte (which is a little tricky to prepare), in my case I could still feel the powder. Aside from that , I had a very good experience and would definitely go back to Grød :)

Yelp
A cute little porridge shop. We ate from the breakfast menu, and had some lovely and filling oatmeal with apples, dulce de leche and almonds. A great breakfast/brunch option!

Yelp
I aim to take every visitor I have here and direct every random tourist or resident who hasn't been towards the smallish storefront with patio seating. Delicious porridge of an interesting and eclectic variety -- ginger syrups, toasted flax seed, skyr, gluten-free options, fresh fruit. Be still my heart. After 11am, try their savory dishes (beet risotto of some sort, indian daal, and others), and in the evening, give the dinner menu a shot.

Yelp
This is kindof the dream scenario for someone who is into the warm comfort of carbs. As a porridge lover, Grod is up my alley. Budget-friendly? Well, hello friend! It's a small spot, down a few steps, although in the summer there is outdoor seating as well. The space is *charming*: white and bright while still being cozy, with pendant lamps and a long communal wood table. The staff are warm and speak perfect English. While we were staring up at the menu board they offered us English menus - much obliged! Grod is traditionally barley porridge, but you can get other carbohydrates in porridge form here from Asian-style congee to herb-complemented risottos. The menu splits between breakfast foods and afternoon foods. All totally affordable (the NYT travel section agrees!) and, though casual, there is something really rustically elegant about their presentation. Yelp note: we hit it right around "kids home for the day" time. So many plates left unfinished! Oh what I wouldn't give for the confidence to just reach out my spoon (kids, eat up!).

Yelp
Good place, good food not expensive. They have risotto, and porridge so don't expect chef-like plates, but they have authentic food and they firmly believe in the porridges. Also, stuff is mega friendly.

Yelp
I was very sceptical with this place I must say. Although the reviews were very positive I thought it was more like a trend to eat there and that the food will be just ok. Well I wanted to try it anyway and again, I should trust the yelp reviews. It was truly very good! So regarding the food I didn't dare to try the porridge as a first time goer, cause since I was a child I just didn't like it. However I tried the risotto which was very very good I must say. Now I am eager to go back and see if they can change me to like porridge! The portions are small, so if you re going with someone else I would suggest you get one plate each and one to share. I saw a bunch of girls doing that. They knew how to order! There are also some other plates that are large, don't know which ones come as a large size, but just ask! The place is teeny tiny. So you must be patient with the service and the queue that is formed inside in this small room. It has outdoor seating for the sunny days, but I don't know how it works in the winter as the interior is so small. The small portions, the slightly slow service, the queue and the fact it is so small makes me gives 4 stars and not 5.
