I came here on my own and sat on the bar side for dinner and drink. The atmosphere was excellent and I didn’t feel awkward to be there alone. The staff were friendly and they made me feel welcome. Even the bar was busy and they were able to keep up the high standard. Food was good and in a reasonable price. I enjoyed the oysters and seafood pasta the most!

We go to this restaurant a couple of times per year in the past. But this is the first time visit in 2024. The fish soup was so salty, and possibly they have changed their chef. The other dishes were also not how they used to be, lack of flavor or too much salt. Services were great.

Swedish cuisine - fine dining. Good for corporate dinners as can accommodate large groups. Caviar on brioche was divine and main course Char fish is off the chart. Passion fruit Pavlova melted in my mouth. Portions are very generous for Swedish traditional Biff Rydberg, Beautiful setting. Would recommend

We came to Grodan because our group wanted to have a seafood pasta and it was not easy to find a Swedish restaurant that serves pasta. Thankfully, Grodan was serving an amazing pasta with seafood. It was tasty and had a big portion. Meatballs were nice as well but the meatballs could have been bigger to make them more juicy I think. The service was top notch!!

Usually need to book a table but I went lunch this time and it was available. Good service, good English. I wanted meatballs because it was in the images, but there wasn't any, so I went for seafood pasta. There was no bowl or plate provided for shells, and I didn't want to put it on the table, so I put it in a butter bowl. The food tasted great (strong garlic). However, I was disappointed in the size and quantity of the seafood. In the entire dish were only 2 prawns. There's only a few mussels. 1 shell was empty... some other shells were so thin it was almost nothing (1 of them had a broken shell stuck to it). Mussels are usually the biggest in the winter, it was snowing and cold, so I had assumed they would have at least been an average size mussel, but they were all tiny! It was the beginning of April. Perhaps Swedish mussels are this size? It would be better not to have gotten mussels at all. So I felt it was overpriced due to lack of seafood (275) The video is what I was served so you can see the size of mussels and missing mussels (just a shell). Originally thought it fell out into the dish but there was nothing. Getting another dish could be more worthwhile.

Ok so I am breaking down my review into two parts. One for the overall normal experience and the other for the special occasion. 1) Food: All the appetizers and main courses were tasty. The combo of flavors is definitely on point. Though for the lobster bisque I would personally prefer some lobster bits in it and the entrecôte ribeye itself can be a bit higher quality (nitpicking) but the seasoning and taste is good. The portions were just right so we weren’t too full or starving. 2) The service was great. Our waitress was super friendly and knew how to work the table! Honestly I don’t have too much to say because the service was that good. 3) Atmosphere was ok. Nothing stands out too much, it was fine. It could be a bit more spacious, since we bumped into the table behind us sometimes when we got up, but it was not like we couldn’t get out at all. Also parking might be a problem unless you go to the narrow parking garage nearby. 4) Price is high. It is an expensive restaurant but you get what you paid for…sort of. I think some dishes are definitely overpriced like the entrecôte which cost 450kr! Again the restaurant is located in Östermalm, an upscaled area, so what did I expect. Nevertheless, it is pricey but at least you will get good food. So the special occasion is the reason why I am not giving a five star. It is unfortunate but I can’t ignore it. We were there because we were celebrating a birthday. We brought a cake and asked if they could refrigerate it and serve it afterwards. Some places would do it for free, some would charge a small service charge. Both options are fine. But for how much we were spending there, I thought they would do it for free. Other restaurants might decline but that’s rare. Instead came the absolute shock of my life. The waitress told us they could do it for a service fee, which is fine but it was for per person! I repeat, the service fee was for per person! I am not joking. The service fee ended up costing more than the cake. In fact, you could have gotten an appetizer and a main. It was ridiculously expensive. Even the waitress thought it was extremely unfair. But since it was new years soon and we weren’t gonna see each other for a while, and not to ruin the mood, we paid for the service fee. That why I can’t give a full five star, I mean you are only giving us some plates and cutleries, why are you charging so much?? For per person??? Even though not all of us had the cake…..

Yelp
I have been to Grodan several times on Grev Turegatan with good results. The wife and I decided to try the alternate location at Royal Opera with the outside seating. The Royal Opera location has horrible customer service, won't be back. We approach the hostess stand for a table, we can see the chubby hostess guy, who clearly see's us waiting, continue to go around and do non-essential things, not acknowledging us? He has one job, seat guest! After about 6 minutes transpires, we ask the bar lady, we want to be seated, can you track down the host? She responds nastily, in broken English and a Russian accent, "It's not my job!" I just work the bar. After an unnecessary wait, the chubby hostess guy reappears (probably after smoking and cigarette and checking his text message.) he seats us at a crappy seat, which we changed. Then after another long wait for the server to appear, we decided to leave. There are lots of other restaurants in the area that provide better service. I don't expect this location to last very long, with such bad service. Do you replace the staff members or fire the manager who hired the staff members to correct the problem? I don't recommend this location.

Yelp
This is such a nice place; service is tops...good food and wine...always a good experience...and so it was Biff Rydberg (its been years since I last had that), lovbiff & bearnaise, 2 glace coupes and a double espresso - with a bottle of Rigal La Nuance Malbec. £127 including tip A very pleasant, relaxing evening If you go, try and get the room to the left, still some tourists but fewer than the first room usually

Yelp
The wine and beer was alright We have had a custom to visit Grodan to have Calf's liver during many years. (10-15). Most of the meals have been good and enjoyable. Some have been quite bad as the liver was either badly prepared, cooked or full of tendons. Based upon our experience we ordered Calf's liver again and pointed out that we did NOT want the liver with tendons. Guess what happened one of the Calf's liver was uneatable as it was full of tendons which could not be cut nor chewed. The other was with some tendons and not very well prepared. It was a bit raw. We cancelled the Calf's Liver was full of tendons and kept the other one with fewer tendons. We ordered a potato pancake as a replacement. This dish was acceptable. Our meal was not a good one and we did not have the dishes at the same time. Has Grodan changed its Chef? Why do they not have the custom to offer a small compensation as coffee or a desert or filling up the wine glass when incidents as this happened. We had high expectations but was sadly very disappointed.

Yelp
This is a restaurant with an upscale atmosphere but more affordable prices than you'd think. The waiters have a strict dress code and overall the place feels a bit classy. The food and the service is excellent. I wanted a Guinness which they sadly didn't have, but I was recommended some other beer (which I don't remember the name of) which was really good, so right away I gained respect for the waitress' opinion on beer at least. A good start. Then I had a Biff Rydberg (diced, fried tenderloin with diced fried potatoes, raw egg yolk on a bed of beer fried onions and a delicious mustard creme.) Every bit of meat was tender, juicy and pink in the middle - yet fried to have a zestful roasted surface. A good amount of salt too, which I appreciate. Perfect. My friends had minute steak with horseradish, egg yolk and fries, and sirloin steak with café de Paris butter and fries - which were also good. I tried the fries which were quite ordinary. For desert I had creme brûlée which was nothing fancy but good. The presentation could be improved a lot. My friends had apple pie with vanilla sauce and the "Grodan's Boll" (the name of the dish is a play on words referencing an old Swedish children's book) which is a chocolate ball that you pour warm sauce over so that it melts. Quite spectacular. The restaurant was closing but the staff didn't rush us out the door. All in all a great restaurant experience.

Yelp
This is a great place if you really want to treat yourself to some authentic Swedish food. Great atmosphere - the place has always been packed whenever I've been in. I went last year, and this year took a party of work colleagues who were all equally impressed (it also shows I add value to the team by knowing the best places to go in Stockholm!) Last night I'd booked for 4 people, but as is the case, when the rest of the party turned up it was a 7!. This was a bit of a problem, but the staff managed to squeeze us in on a table out the way. The rest of the party where also really late and it was well past 9:00pm when we finally ordered. The menu is not too big, which always makes for great, fresh food. Decent selection of wines too. Service was pretty good, and in the main section of the restaurant the service is always brilliant. Go for some herring while you're here, it really is great (you can get the SOS - three types of herring as a starter). Cost wasn't too bad for stockholm - total bill for 7 was SK 4500 for 3 courses, lots of wine and coffee. There's a couple of other places you can go, but as this restaurant is just off the Stureplan, it's less likely to get booked up.

Yelp
Great food and exceptional service! The fact that you can bring your dog makes this place a clear favorite I Stockholm!

Yelp
A classic venue on a backalley to Stureplan where you can grab a dinner, drink or just a snack while chatting. Can be crowded during peak-hours but they will do their best to get you seated as soon as possible. Outside patio is preferred during summer, and a great spot for ppl watching while enjoying a night out. Menu isnt huge, but they have quite a few classic like beef tartar and moose sausage. Pricing is fair, quality is good and service staff will give you a great time in a casual manner. Go here to start off your night, and f you are lucky enough, you will be greeted by the funny old owner who will do his best to enhance your evening further more.

Yelp
Grodan is a great little bistro in the heart of Stockholm, with a great ambience, terrific menu (especially fish & shellfish!), comprehensive wine list (with multiple choices by-the-glass)), and great service. The food is delicious, whether traditional Swedish dishes (such as Ryggbiff) or more standard bistro fare (Char, Filet, etc). Every day provides a different special, all worth trying. Grodan is a great experience, & well worth trying.

Yelp
I actually ate here solo on a business trip two months ago... But since I just signed up for Yelp I had to go back and leave a review. I went on the recommendation of the hotel concierge where I was staying. I had a traditional Swedish meal and the meat was amazing. The meal consisted of chunks of cooked beef in a wonderful sauce alongside some fried up potatoes. There were cooked onions on the side along with egg yolk. The whole meal was a great combination of flavors. I booked reservations and stuck to the dress code mentioned in other reviews... Slacks and a jacket. However, there were folks there dressed quite casual. Food was served quickly. I actually shared a table with strangers as they seem to like to pack the place tight... And it was full of locals, not tourists.

Yelp
This place rocks! Well, not literally as it was full of the 'older generation' and me and has been decorated to look like an old French boudoir, but I am here for the food and boy did it deliver! Reindeer steak preceded by a stupendous bread board and a wheat beer followed by a Dalwhinnie 15 year old single malt...wait, am I now part of the 'older generation'...god damn it! But maybe that just means I have started to appreciate the finer things in life? In all seriousness though, this is really fine dining, but without the snobbishness. The waiting staff were welcoming and down right lovely. If i was silver-haired and lived in Stockholm, I'd make this my canteen and frivolously eat my way through my pension money. As neither apply to me at the moment, I'll settle for making a b-line for this place each time I visit the city.

Yelp
My husband and I always come here while we're in Stockholm. The food is amazing! But, there is ONLY ONE PROBLEM: it takes sooooo long to get your order placed and get seated, even when the restaurant is not that busy. Our waitress was nice, but only after I had to get up and literally physically get her to take or order after we sat at our table for 15 minutes. Less than stellar service. But food- still kick ass! So- if you're expecting to get a "quick bite to eat". This ain't the place.

Yelp
They do the French bistro thing. Food is good, but overpriced. Same goes with drinks. But it should be expected since it is in the most affluent shopping district.

Yelp
Grodan was actually the first serious (liked McD, pizza, etc before that) restaurant I really liked. My parents took me there and that was the first time I enjoyed going to a restaurant. Today restaurants is one of my biggest interests, and I still like this place a lot. Nice menu and all the dishes (I've tested all their classics) are very well cooked. The service is usually very nice and the atmosphere is pretty crowdy which I like.

Yelp
Lovely place, with great, great service. We had fiskgryta (fish chowder) and raggmunk (potato pancake with salted pork and lingonberries), thinking we'd like to try something Swedish, and buffalo mozzarella as an appetizer. The chowder was good and full of fish, mussels, etc. but salty to our taste. The pancake was very thin and crispy at the edges, and delicious with the lingonberries. The mozzarella met my calcium requirements in one fell swoop! (A lot of cheese.) Many locals there, arriving after 7 on a weekday. If we visit Stockholm again we will come here and try other things on their extensive menu.

Yelp
Great potato pancake and fish stew. Were attracted to this place as we walked by on the way to another restaurant a block past that our hotel concierge recommended. When that place looked a bit underwhelming, we went to Grodan and couldn't have been more happy. We sat outside on a pretty summer night. Would have been perfect if not for all the smoking, but I'm not complaining as I was in Europe after all. Pretty good service and really nice servers.
