Don’t go there!!!! I went to this store with my boyfriend to enjoy the nice weather. We walked past it and thought it looked cool from the outside, so we decided to go inside. I was looking at the vinyl records, and one accidentally slipped from my hand. I picked it up immediately and checked it – nothing had happened to it. Then, the very unfriendly saleswoman came up to me and asked why I had put it back. She demanded I give it to her right away. When I handed it over, she said, “Well, now you have to buy it.” There was absolutely nothing wrong with the record, and she totally overreacted. I told her I didn’t want to buy it, and she told me to leave the store and never come back. Of course, I won’t be coming back... She was so rude that I ended up crying, and she ruined my beautiful Saturday. Just don’t go in there!

I was in Twice last month the second time i was there . I visited a few vinyl stores this made the shortlist. It was the final one I chose although I got one record from here it’s a iconic double A side. The ladies who worked there were very funny knowledgeable and approachable and I was made welcome . They have a nice selection of stuff . What the element of surprise is the Groove city has a nice contemporary Uk soul . So maybe there is a Uk soul underground scene in Hamburg. There are other vinyls shops that also had the contemporary Uk stuff which for me is a bonus so if I can’t make London for certain records or genres then Hamburg is my go place .

Everytime I visit the city I have I stop by this record store. The owners are great people and the environment is really nice. Great variety of genres and I usually find some gems and Rarities.

Sadly, I can only confirm the other negative reviews about this record store — the lady running it is extremely rude and unfriendly. I’d highly recommend going to Zardoz Records instead (just a 3 minute walk down the street).

The woman running the shop (owner or not) is very rude. Just stay away and spend your money elsewhere. The shops nearby are cool.

My last visit to Groove City was so amazing I felt I had to share it here. I'm someone who can walk away from any record shop with an armful of LPs. But in the end, many of them turn out not be as memorable as I'd hoped. This time, after browsing a bit in the bins with used records, old listening copies, and flea market finds - who knows where they all came from - I wound up with a selection of five records at 1980s prices that proved to be the king of all killer selections. You sometimes find one record where every track is brilliant, but five at one time!?! The shop's regular selection is every bit as wonderful. If I had the money, I'd buy the whole shop. I'd like to add that I can't understand the negative reviews I see here. I've browsed the shop on numerous occasions, and listened to many records before buying. I never experienced a sour note, let alone seen anyone asked to leave!? This is one of the friendliest places I know of in Hamburg. I'm especially thankful for all the musical tips and advice I received here. Groove City is one of the best record shops I've seen, and a place that musical dreams are made of.

This record store has a wide range of genres, used and new. Their jazz collection was pretty extensive with reissues and older records. Contrary to some of the reviews, the woman working there was very polite. As I was carrying a bag and my jacket, she offered me to put my stuff on a chair in the private part of the store. She also was pretty ok with me listening to a record when I asked. I didnt buy anything but I never felt that I was not welcome to stay in the store.

Absolutely rude owner. Was basically pushed out of the store after a minute because I came in with a drink. She was clearly miserable and after reading several other reviews with similar experiences, she should not be running a store. Do not recommend to anyone, avoid at all costs.

Yelp
Super frustrated, rude women at counter, trying to play the boss. She did not let me listen to the used records for some reason and basicly kicked me out of the store when I wanted to pay credit card.

Yelp
Cool little record store in the Karoviertel. It's made cooler by the fact that they have Sneakology at the back of the store - an ultra-cool trainers shop
