I don’t think I’d come back here. The camp sites are very small and close together with no tree coverage mostly. I felt the driveway for the RV our group brought was very small and strangely shaped. Super long line for the dump station, with the road being too narrow to pull rigs around other rigs to get at the dump station further up. The location is so close to Grand Tetons that it is a good place to wake up and leave but absolutely no reason to relax here.

This campground was different from any other we've camped at. We had site 213, which was on the corridor and had a decent view. Our site was spacious and private, but I can understand that other sites within the loops aren't as private. The entire area is very expensive, especially Jackson WY. The Gros Ventre river hardly has any flowing water. Most people here are RVers. It is peaceful and quiet, a little too peaceful for my liking. The washrooms are pretty outdated, and very few people seem to use them. We had one of the most peaceful tent camping experience here. The night sky is very clear. It is really close to Dornan's for food and activities. Also, they have campground programs every evening that seemed quite interesting! Next time, if there is one, I'm staying in Colter Bay, which is way livelier.

The location is peaceful, not a lot of traffic in this area of the park. I had a rafting trip scheduled west of Jackson, so this campground was the closest to the departure point and convenient to the town of Jackson. The campground is extremely overpriced due to the lack of amenities. There are not enough bathrooms to accommodate all of the surrounding campsites. I was on the back loop and the trail to the bathroom went through the center of a campsite. I felt guilty every time I went, but the occupant didn't seem too upset. There are no showers either, so $63 per night was overkill in my opinion. Hopefully this campground will use the extra revenue from the price increase to upgrade and install additional restrooms. I had really hoped to see wildlife, but didn't. Maybe it was the time of year (first week of August). All of the staff was very friendly and helpful.

Our campsite was in loop A site 64. We had no shade, but a pretty nice view of the mountains. The other loops had more trees and we’re shadier which might make them better choices depending on the time of year. The bathrooms were serviceable and clean. Check-in was really easy and you can stay in your car. The only downside to this campground is the there’s no hiking or walking trails. They have evening programming, too. Overall a good experience of this campground!

Campground was very nice. Bathrooms clean. However the Nazi's running the place were idiots! You had 1 bullet Barney trying to order the spectators around whenever the Moose would come through the campground. It was pretty humorous. Grown people don't need to be told what to do. The lady volunteer was just as bad with the dump station. Oh well the Moose and the scenery were awesome.

We stayed for 3 nights in our van/tent. Sites are very large and private. Each has a bear bin to store your food. Restrooms very clean. It is a short drive to Jackson Hole and Grand Tetons NP. We stayed in a primitive site and it was just as large and private as the full hook up sites.

The price (63/night) is way overkill for campsite with no services. There are no shower or laundromat.... On our first day here, we followed the sign that said "park at the amphitheater to go see the mooses" since there were no moose, we drove back to our campsite on the other side of the campground. The staff member named Dennis intercepted us and accused us of "harassing the mooses". He was really rude and did not let us say a word and told us the next time, we're OUT! We've been in dozens of campgrounds this summer and never had anything noticeable...but this made me feel really uncomfortable and not welcome. I would not come back here.

If you're looking for a peaceful, well-maintained campground in Grand Teton National Park, Gros Ventre Campground is an excellent choice. This location is incredibly scenic, offering both mountain and prairie views, depending on your campsite. While there are no hookups, that’s no issue if you're camping in a Mini-T Campervan. The off-grid capabilities of the Mini-T work perfectly here, allowing you to enjoy all the comforts of home without needing external power sources. The campsites are on the smaller side, but that’s ideal for campervans like the Mini-T. We found that any site here is a good fit, and with fewer large RVs around, it keeps the campground quieter and more intimate. One of the real highlights of Gros Ventre is the abundance of wildlife. During our stay, a bull moose made almost daily appearances along the river at the back of the campground, particularly in the mornings and evenings. The campground is clean, well-maintained, and offers a wonderful balance of tranquility and accessibility to Grand Teton's natural beauty. Whether you’re here to relax, take in the mountain views, or catch a glimpse of the wildlife, Gros Ventre Campground is a gem within the park and perfect for campervan travelers.

Yelp
Gros Ventre Campground is a great choice if you are staying in Grand Tetons and want to check on the town of Jackson. There's also a wildlife overlook 4 minutes away. The roads in the campground are newer and wider, not inclined. The view is nice because there's no trees, but that means 3/4 of the view is your neighbors a couple feet away. We were late to check in. They had a list and map ready for everyone. The sites were big enough. The bathrooms had a site for dishwater. You can't wash dishes there. It's super low. The bathroom was warm in 40 degree weather though. No showers or anything else. It all worked though.

Yelp
We stayed in Gros Ventre campground 07/25-07/29 in loop "C" campsite 152 with our 28' TT. No hookups, but A, B & C loops allow generators from 8am-10pm. Campfires are allowed and the registration office sells ice and firewood. There is potable water near the front dump stations. The bathrooms were always clean and had flushing toilets and faucet sinks. Site 152 was paved for an RV, although the site itself is dirt. The site was clean and spacious with nice shade trees. Gros Ventre Campground is located conveniently inside Grand Teton NP and it's about 20 minutes to Jackson and 20 minutes to Jenny Lake. There is an Albertsons grocery store in Jackson to stock up on supplies. If you're coming into Grand Teton NP from Idaho and in an RV, avoid the WYO22 Teton Pass at all costs. It has a 10 percent grade down for 4 miles. It will test your patience and roast your brakes. I was shocked RV Trip Wizard even had routed us that way.

Yelp
We were off to a great start when we rolled in and a bunch of staff greeted us outside to check us in! We liked the level, gravel campsites which also had a decent amount of space from our neighbors. Supposedly, Loop A is the place to be for moose sightings since it's close to the river. Unfortunately, there weren't any to be seen during our two night stay. One of their dump sites is broken, so that leaves only one working. They're on a septic tank so they are VERY strict with how many campers can use it per day (43 to be exact). Sign up to dump when you check in for a spot! Located about 30 minutes from Jackson Hole and 20 to Mormon Row. Otherwise, we liked Signal Mountain better during our Grant Tetons leg of the trip.

Yelp
Was lucky to be able to make reservations here this summer for three nights due to someone's cancellation just a week in advance. The campground is located on Gros Ventre Road, and is situated in the Cottonwood trees. Each loop seems similar, but I stayed in the tents only side, which also has no generators. The no generators areas here really make a huge difference in your camping experience. Since the whole summer is basically booked with the exception of one or two random nights here and there, or cancellations, your site may not be the most optimal that you would have picked, if more were available. Our walk to the bathroom was pretty long, especially in the middle of the night. But, it was still totally worth going regardless! People are generally pretty respectful of others here. Some seem to slam the bear box, or are not as respectful of quiet hours. When many people are having fires and there isn't a breeze, the smoke seems to just stagnate among the campsites. My eyes were super red. Enjoyed the close proximity to town, Grand Teton National Park, and Yellowstone. Would definitely return and would love to bring my bike the next time.

Yelp
No shade. Our least favorite campground in Tetons area. It was 90degrees and our camper van was hot because there was no shade at this camp ground, and since its in the sagebrush its hot and dry. (All others in our 10day adventure we're in a forest). Has Access to the river which is cold and refreshing but not swimmable because current moves quickly and mostly shallow. The staff is a less pleasant than everywhere else we have been in Montana and Wyoming!!! They have the grey water dump stations locked and you can only dump if you are on the reservation list which is really inconvenient. They do not offer a hose for freshwater Potable water so you have to have your own!!! They are only set up for driver side dump/refill. Our van has dual sided grey water for sink and shower. Wouldn't stay there again.

Yelp
Upon arrival, I had called at least five times confirming that I booked my reservation correctly; being that I have a camper trailer I was asking how I can get a site that will fit my camper and vehicle. I arrived and it was apparent that the staff were not happy with the situation at hand- The office staff had told me to book my reservation and I did. After 15 minutes explaining the situation, I needed to dump my tank and informed the staff; they were even more agitated and IT WAS VERY CLEAR. I was also rushed off the water pump to fill up my water. Only was able to fill 1/3 of my tank. Only 1 shower for three nights for 2 people. RIDICULOUS. TOURIST TRAP AND UNFORTUNATELY WYOMING DOESN'T OFFER FREE CAMPSITES. So had to spend more than $200 to stay at this crappy campsite with attitude ridden people.

Yelp
Great campground near the moose. We saw three moose and a baby. Great hookups and campfires. Go eat at Dornan's. They have a great grocery, gift, and wine store plus restaurant.

Yelp
We stayed here for three nights in September 2020 and overall had a great experience. There are tons of RVs and vans, but the tent loop it is pretty quiet and away from most of them. You have beautiful views during sunset on the north side facing the mountains and sunrise from the river which is accessible from the south side. We stayed in Loop G, site 337 and were near a bathroom and potable water as well as a dumping area for dishwashing liquids. Each tent site has a bear box, picnic table, fire pit and a place to park your vehicle. The check in process was simple and efficient. You line up and once you reach the front, a staff member will ask you how many nights you're staying. You'll pay upfront ($33 per night) and then they'll hand you a map with your assigned site location and some information about watching out for bears. We arrived on a Monday morning around 9am and had to wait about 30-45min in line. I believe some of the other campgrounds in the Tetons fill much earlier and have a more complicated check-in process. After two nights here, we decided to extend our stay one more night and were told we could avoid the line and just walk over to the office and request an extension. If we had wanted to move sites, then we would have needed to get in line again. Checkout is at 11am. As a bonus, we saw moose all mornings we were here around 7am! They walk through the actual campgrounds which is incredible. I'm giving them a 4 star review only because the price seems fairly high for no showers (though campground prices in the Teton area are all fairly high). Also, just note that service is spotty in the tent area, but good enough for basic texting.

Yelp
We've been here twice and love this place. It's off the tourist track, the spaces are very large, and wildlife comes right into the campground. If you want cable tv and water hookups, you won't get them, but we enjoy the peacefulness of this campground. We will be back.

Yelp
Our group stayed in a tent site at Gros Ventre for 2 nights in August 2016. We had originally planned on trying for a campground further north but fires closed a few campgrounds making the remaining ones very crowded. We were happy to secure a site at Gros Ventre by early afternoon, although I'm sure there were still plenty of sites available late into the day. If you can, try to get one of the sites on the north side that look out onto the mountains. We were given a more interior site with no real view to speak of. Sites can be quite close together with little privacy, but ours was toward the back so we had no one behind us. We were a couple min walk to the bathroom and water spigot. Lots of RVs and other longer term vehicles at this campground but it was relatively quite. However, the staff checking us in were super helpful. They chose a site they thought would be big enough for our two tents and told us we could come back if we didn't like it and they'd figure out something better for us. Later in the day, we asked if there was anywhere to charge cellphones and the staff offered for us to sit out behind the office at a picnic table to use the plug there. Perfect spot to play a couple card games and charge our devices. The campground is on the south side of Grand Teton, its about a 30 min drive to Jenny Lake, but its also nice because its closer to Jackson than the other campgrounds so we went into town for dinner one night. Overall, a decent campground with friendly, helpful staff. Oh! and we saw moose right off the road near the creek driving in!

Yelp
Super nice campground by Gros Ventre River just below the Grand Tetons. The staff here is truly amazing, very accommodating. Thank you Dennis and Cynthia for all your help, we really appreciate you! Site #227

Yelp
Beautiful place to explore the area, friendly stuff and amazing views. We stayed here 10 days with our rv in may. Weather was perfect. We had a site with electric hook up. This campground has no showers, just toilets and sinks. No hot water. Dump station at the entrance- free for campers. This campground is nothing for people who wants it perfect. It is very rustic and natural. Office is open from 8 to 5. They don't take reservations- first come first serve. We loved it!

T D.

Yelp
Great campground when the rest of the Tetons is booked. In between Jackson and Jenni Lake, so you WILL do a bit of driving. The first-come first-serve sites fill up later in the day. Bathrooms are clean (flush toilets/no showers). Ranger program at night was good. Tons of RVs, but no excessive generator noise. We saw moose and deer right around the corner from the campsite. A bit pricey at $30 a night for no showers.....

Brooke H.

Yelp
So welcoming. The staff in the campground office were top notch. So friendly and accommodating. They took the time to get us the best view we could get and still be a close walk to the restrooms. The gentleman even helped carry our bundle of firewood to our car. They were so nice to me and my son and we really appreciated their hospitality. The campground is clean and beautiful. Close distance to the town of Jackson hole and Teton National Park. My son and I will remember this crisp night roasting marshmallows and making s'mores by the fire.

JJ P.

Yelp
Beautiful country. Nicely spaced sites. 18min to Jackson Hole. Camped here in early July. After the wind died down it was a perfect night.

Edward D.

Yelp
A nice convenient campground. With lots of space. Friendly helpful staff. I was grateful that I was able to stay here. It's a little overpriced and it turns out that it's managed by Vail resorts Inc. and not the National Park Service. For some reason this huge campground has no showers available anywhere. And water is not that convenient as it's only located near the bathrooms. Most campsites offer no view of the mountains which is a pretty tough thing to accomplish in GTeton national Park area. I recommend checking out The gravel road nearby referred to as more Mormon row. Which gives you stunning access to both wildlife and the grand Teton range.

Goodwin H.

Yelp
This campground is an excellent example of supply and demand at work. Campers have no choice but to stay here regardless of quality of the experience because the area is overused and underserved. I have camped a lot all over the US, Canada, and Central America and this is the worst I've seen. The staff should be embarrassed, and frankly it's hard to understand how government supervisors haven't done their job to ensure a basic quality standard. Yet they still expect their $25/night. Rocks everywhere, nothing flat enough for a tent, truly dirty, a broken fire pit with chunks of concrete from the fire pit thrown around. Looks like it's never been raked. I've seen alleys that were better kept.

Kristen S.

Yelp
Campsites packed in extremely close, if you are looking for a quiet retreat away from people this is not the place for you. Continue on Gros Ventre road into the national forest and there is an abundance of beautiful campsites.

J C.

Yelp
This is a rather late review of Gros Ventée Campground, sorry for that. We were there in July. Having never been there before, I wasn't prepared for the majesty and enormity of the place. More about that later... let' begin with Jacksonhole. Being July, it was hot and crowded. However, the shops and restaurants were all ready for the Covid 19, with all mandates. It was a day trip, more time spent looking at overpriced track shoes and western clothing would be wasted. So, we took the very pretty ride to our campsite in Gros Ventée and found it to be very spacious and far apart from our neighbors. The views of the Grand Tetons were everywhere. We would definitely return.

Aryn M.

Yelp
Wonderful wonderful wonderful! Second time camping here and we will continue to return. We see beautiful moose every time we are here. Close to Mormon row, Jenny lake, and the Dornans. Far away enough from town where you don't feel suffocated by tourists. Can't wait to plan our next visit!

Brenda T.

Yelp
Love this Campground and the Hosts Joe and Rena couldn't be any nicer. Great viewing place for the Teton Mtns and the solar eclipse. You may even see a moose in the campground.

India C.

Yelp
We just stayed 10 days here. Perfect spot for visiting Grand Tetons NP and the surrounding area. No showers. No laundry. Clean bathrooms. Great place to see moose and elk and other small wild life. Gros Ventre River can be heard from the campsite and is a very short walk away. We took a dip a few times. The sites are rocky so if you're tent camping as we did bring an air Mattress or a pad.

Jason C.

Yelp
For a national park campground it's extremely overpriced. Starts at 28 per night with no hookups! Just absurd considering there is plenty of national forest around which is free for the same amenities.. dump fee is 10 bucks. Only 5 back in Jackson at the shell station. NPS shouldn't charge to dump for Rv anyway. Plenty around that don't. I wouldn't stay here.

Brandi S.

Yelp
Comfortable camp ground. We used the ADA site fit our travel trailer and truck just fine. Had electric for $27.00 a night, great price compared to Yellowstone. Enjoyed it very much. A little problem with thier dump site ( sign confusion on which one was out of order) other wise a great experience. Clean bathrooms lots of room between campers. Camped two other sites at Yellowstone , Gros Ventre was the best of the three. Only wish they had showers.

Robin R.

Yelp
Primitive Campground in a very big campground nice and quiet at night very close to the Tetons & Jackson Hole while the close campgrounds were full this one wasn't and passed a large heard of Buffalo along the way

Jill R.

Yelp
Located amongst fields of Sage and Cottonwoods this campsite is pretty and was easy to get an electric hookup spot mid-week. Some spots have been updated, while others are pretty ragged (loop d). Bathrooms were clean but no hand soap dispensers. Dump station and easy access to water. Perfect spot if you are spending most of your time in the park. Definitely not worth the $48 per night given other campsites of similar set up are charging $26 per night. Bring lots of bug spray.
