We spent three nights in Domme in a one bedroom apartment at the top of the hill through booking. A cute medieval town located high above the Dordogne River. In the morning hot air balloons dotted the sky and the sunset on the hills and river were beautiful. It’s a central location to many small towns but you will need a car to get around outside of Domme.

We had an amazing time at the Grotte de Domme. It was much, much much larger and more impressive that we expected. Would recommend, very special experience! Also many thanks to the young man who guided the tour and explained things so well!

Beautiful panoramic viewpoint after pleasant walk up through the hilltop village. An ice cream and a little train ride caps this lovely tourist highlight. Lots of parking. Recommended.

Entrance right in the middle of the town. Steep walk down into the cave but good floor and steps with handrail. Fascinating cave with great formations. Even dogs were allowed! The climb out of the other side is up a long spiral staircase. There are some rest places with chairs on the way up. There looks to be a lift but it was not offered to anyone. I guess you have to ask.
The guide was aware there were several nationalities including us Brits, but made no attempt to translate his all french information. Shame they don't give headphone translation as in other places.

Absolutely delightful visit. Spectacular grotte. Really a must. Excellent guide with great humour. Large group though and unfortunately young noisy children took some of our pleasure away as we could only hear half of what was said. I would recommend to separate visits, with and without young kids.

Buy your tickets at the tourism office and take the guided tour of the grotto and here you will ses lits of stalactites and stalagmites. The guide was very knowledgeable - but you’ll need to speak French to fully understand.
Interesting tour - but you’re not allowed to take photos inside!
Not suitable for visitors with mobility issues as there are lots of steps in the grotto.
