I came to France to see the prehistoric cave art. This cave was my first stop. Reviews online indicated that the staff here is rude, but my experience was the opposite. The woman who guided our group was one of the best guides I had during my whole trip. She was passionate about the cave and history, as well as protecting it for the future. I wish I could go back and thank her for caring so much. She was excited to answer all our questions and gave good recommendations for other places to visit. She also was happy to take photos for us outside the cave. Be aware, there are a lot of steps to get up to the cave. Arrive early and come prepared, but remember you can't bring in any bags.

Excellent tour of the very special paintings, we could tell our guide Brigitte really cared about the place and spoke informatively and with passion and enthusiasm. This was helped by the very small group size and we felt like we had enough time to see everything. This was our favourite out of all the caves we visited.

Great examples of multicolored cromagnon cave art. Famous for being over booked so we arrived early to get four of only 58 of the spots they allocate daily. All reserved spots are allocated to tour groups this year. In years past you could get them on line but not anymore. Gift shop was nothing special. Our English guide was informative and engaging. The art was amazing. The cave is chilly so bring a jacket. Parking is free and plentiful.

This cave is incredible! To see 19000 year old cave paintings! A truly once in a lifetime experience! Put it on your bucket list!

Reservations are a must and nearly impossible to get because only 78 people a day can get in. It’s a tough walk up to the opening and a longer dark tunnel walk inside. For the first 30 minutes I took it on faith. The guide pointed out an image with a red laser pen and me it was bison. I did see a somewhat darker image which could have been anything. And on it went being told about amazing images that just hardly materialize. Then you move a little farther and see three big bison as clear as day and I was awestruck. But consider the three bison is all you get. And then you leave. That’s why only four stars. In the end you’re still wondering why.

Always wanted to see genuine prehistoric cave paintings so took the chance whilst on holiday in Dordogne. This surpassed my expectations. The guide was very knowledgeable with excellent English. Only about a dozen or so tourists went with us on a thirty minute trip ( trips are limited to protect the paintings). Highlights were the beautiful bison and the hand-print. I bought tickets in advance on their website, but tickets are available if you queue in the morning apparently. I’d recommend booking

Great tour in English. Very knowledgeable guide. The cave itself is amazing. Well worth it.

There is nothing like seeing real cave art in person. Pascal was our guide. He did a great job explaining in English as well as French. We lucked out and also got him for another cave. Ask for him if you can. The tour is half an hour and we spent about an hour there, total. There was no ticket line in December.
