Another attraction highly recommended if in Sirmione. Either walk or take an electronic train ride (from Terme) to the ticket station. The ruins are spread over a bugger space then I thought and there are lots of olive and fir trees and spectacular views. Peaceful and tranquil too. After the visit, you can walk down towards Jamaica beach as well.

If possible, book a local hotel to fully enjoy this place. It’s amazingly beautiful, but requires a lot of walking, with kids can be challenging specially if the parking lots close to the old city entrance are full. We don’t regret anything, even parking far away the visit was amazing. Just next time we will book a local hotel so we can stay more and walk less:)

Museum is very small with few exhibits but the Grotte is amazing! Very large and the free audio really brings it to life. *Note the audio download is recommended to download from hotel wifi. It’s rather large and signal is 4g 2 bars Really enjoyed this site which is pretty cheap. Do also be aware if you plan to do the regional 1,2,3 site you can get a discount ticket. We only found this after the visit but 🤷‍♂️ all good.

If you'll walk through this magnifiyplacs and think that people who build it and some who lived there didn't even heard about Jesus walking on the earth. Scale od PRIVATE villa build 2000years ago is unbeliy. Evidebyof some great work, architecture and art. Also the location and the view is thrilling.

Incredible site to visit if you’re at all interested in history! The museums fairly small but contains a lot of interesting artifacts. The actual archeological site is well excavated and uncovered, so it is easy to move around and view the different buildings. Unfortunately the audio guide was not an option as I had to look after kids - so I cannot comment on it. On the topic of kids; be ready to carry them a lot, a lot of steep stairs and places to get hurt - but at the same time very kid friendly as they are free to explore. Would, and will, visit again!

The ruins are relatively interesting but what made this place special for us were the spectacular views of the lake. Alongside the ruins, it is worth visiting here just for the stunning views.

Huge archeological site and museum. The excavations are phenomenal and can be accessed easily by following the tour itinerary. There is some stair climbing involved, but nothing bad. The views over Lake Garda are grand. Im my mind, I compared the Grotto a bit to King Herod's fortress Massada in the vicinity of the Dead Sea. The worst part is getting there. One has to fight slow moving tourist masses in the Old Town of Sirmione. It can take more than 30 minutes from the parking lots to the Grotto site.

Beautiful views, very interesting history, but missed quite a lot due to lack of English translation around some interesting parts of the museum. Also, just an FYI, the first museum in Italy where they do not have discounts for students or 25 y.o., it's only up until the 25th birthday - otherwise you get to pay five times the "reduced" price.
