Grotto Pizza & the Skybox Sports Bar

I have NEVER had such an unbelievably horrible server and experience. While stopping in PA on the way to our home state, my friends and I stopped in to grab some pizza as we seen this place had great reviews. Everything was going normally until we received our food. I ordered a margarita pizza and some wings, while my friend ordered a pizza as well. Our server, BETSY T, who didn’t even introduce herself or check in on us one time later than to grab drinks and give our bill was truly the epitome of horrible service from a horrible person. Working in service industry we’ve all had bad days, but to take it out on a customer is truly insane behavior. As soon as the food was set down , it looked subpar but pizza is different everywhere so it wasn’t a big deal, however when she dropped off the bills without anyone asking for it she grabbed my friends pizza who only had a slice eaten and began boxing it up. As soon as my friend said she didn’t need a box for it , Betsy caught an attitude. My friend asked to speak to a manager about the food and she literally lost her mind and said “Yeah I’ll get the manager since you want your food for free ! He’ll give it to you for free since that’s what you want!” And stormed off into the back, mind you we were taken a back because at first we weren’t sure if it was a cheeky joke or just how she spoke till I asked if she was being rude. While waiting for the manager , she came back into the dining area and literally shouted to us from a distance since she didn’t come to the table (just like the whole time we were sat in her section) , accusing us of coming in just to start problems with HER. I’m not sure who or what that woman thinks she was for anybody to come in and bother her, but everyone else in the establishment literally had a normal server except us. I’ve never had such a retaliatory response from a server from asking to speak to a manager as this was the first time ever, and in our experience as servers we have never gotten angry over a customer asking to speak to a manager because it’s about the food not service which servers have no control over. We even told her as soon as she stated we wanted it for free that our issue was not with her service and she STILL went insane. She took offense to simply asking to speak to a manager, like she was the one who came up with the pizza recipe and cooked it herself ! She would’ve known that we weren’t pleased if she had done a single table check after dropping it off, but she literally avoided us and spoke to her other table right in front of us. Everyone else working there seemed like a normal person and it’s a shame because it seems like this is normal behavior from her in the way none of her coworkers looked surprised. The manager said he’d speak to her about it, as if he didn’t see her literally agitating the situation and making it an actual issue. My girl and I paid for our food regardless of the abysmal service and my friend got hers rightfully comped. If your servers are starting arguments with customers over simply inquiring about speaking to a manager , then maybe they shouldn’t work with the public and work BOH. Betsy would be a great line cook with that mouth and anger management aka NONE! She was three times our age and yet conducted herself like she was a child. Never seen or experienced anything like this. Like stepping into the twilight zone of hell. Cute interior and decor though, I’ll give em that.

Nice place, decor is full 90s mode. Pizza is really good, upside down style, not super heavy. Wings are just basic sauce and straight out of the fryer, nothing special but had a good crisp to them.

We ordered a horrible, dried out and burned pepperoni pizza and a equally crappy sweet sauce pizza. Miserable counter service to top it off. No where to add a picture. Lesson learned Grotto. Keep your burnt pizza and horrible miserable counter people. If you want to try grotto pizza, get some cardboard, slap some sauce on it and very minimal cheese, burn the top till it's black, and you'll have created Grotto Pizzas secret. Don't eat there. We ordered from Wyoming Valley mall location, 1/2/2026.

We stopped in while visiting in Wilkes barre. I got the pickle pizza and street corn dip and both were so good. My mom got the barbecue pizza and my aunt got the shrimp pizza. Service was good and food was served quickly and was hot and tasty. We will definitely go there again

Was pretty excited to go here. We went out of our way to get here and honestly it was like a twilight experience. We thought we were on a TV show getting pranked. We expected the same experience we had when we stop at Grottos down at the shore. It was freezing cold in the restaurant. My salad was a joke with a rando piece of celery on it. The pizza, overcooked and barely warm when it came to the table. The only thing great was the personality of our server. Was really looking forward to great pizza and tasty salad.

We ordered a large pie with extra sauce and a dozen of grand slam wings for delivery through the Grotto websire (Toast). I can say this was the best service I ever experienced as far as food delivery goes! The driver arrived earlier than expected, brought the insulated bag to our door so our food Was piping hot. In this frigid weather! Everything was perfection! I wish I could go back in and tip the driver even more because she was sooooo kind and deserves it! Way to go Grotto! She’s a keeper!

Never been to a Grotto's before. The place was nice. Server was excellent but was not in a rush. The food was disappointing. I'm use to good mom and pop pizza and this place made me not want to eat it. I would compare it to frozen pizza from the grocery store. I would not return, sorry.

I have been to this Grotto location several times, and the food is always good. This past Friday there was live music and we sat at the bar, which is decorated with old photos and magazine pages, which was kind of cool. I got extra cheese pizza which was like, enough cheese for three pizzas. We also got cheese fries which were really crispy and good. They used the correct glass for my blue moon, which is worth noting.

In town to see some family/friends. Staying at nearby hotel. Got in and was hungry and know that Grotto is awesome. ( used to go to the original at the Lake) Sat at the bar and was greeted with a great bartender/server. Ordered the 8 slice Sicilian ( which is very much like Old Forge) and a martini. Everything was deli it and of course had to have a Yuengling! Can't come to NEPA without having one ( or more) Stop in... and enjoy it all!

I haven't written a review in a TIME, but anyway, we were traveling through and stayed a night in Wilkes-Barre, and went here with the family. It's chill, causal, family friendly but lively. There was actually a band jamming on some blues and standards. Anyway, the pizza was really good. Also, the food came out fairly fast. The service was great, both friendly and attentive.

This is the best pizza we have ever had. It never fails to disappoint us. I highly highly recommend to go get yourself some Grotto. You won't regret it :)

Excellent pizza and pretty good calzone. The bar is great. People are friendly, great crowd that you wanna hang with probably go there for the Super Bowl.

I visited here with my sister as her son loves coming here. Unfortunately, I'm just not a fan of their pizza. I don't like the flavor at all and the crust is like cardboard....BUT they do have some good apps and the grand slam sauce is good (I'm pretty sure it's mostly just hot sauce mixed with blue cheese tho). The boneless bites had a ton of breading and reminded me of a popular brand's frozen version. These are definitely not fresh chicken bites. The price of traditional wings is going down, but they still have "market price" listed, so no thanks. This restaurant is consistently underwhelming for me. On a positive note, service is always friendly.

This place is disgusting. There were mice running around in the dining room and arcade area where kids play. I witnessed a manager verbally, and physically assault an unhappy customer, then go to the kitchen and get the back of the house staff to engage in fighting with said customer, in the middle of the dining room all while cussing up a storm in front of children and customers. He needs to be fired immediately. I witnessed another female manager jump over the bar to run away from the altercation. Police were called. It was a complete fiasco And don't even get me started on the food. It tasted like it was fried in old burnt fryer oil, the pizza tasted like cardboard. That place is like a frat house with horrible food. Absolutely unacceptable this Grotto needs restructuring

I remember going to Grotto Pizza in the late 90'S, early 2000 while attending a local college. I recall it being the best local pizza, and wanted to stop in while working in the area. I couldn't bring myself to order a pizza because I was by myself and it was lunchtime. I decided to have a soup and a wrap. The French onion soup was great. The flavor was spot on and the cheese was crispy around the top of the crock. The buffalo chicken wrap was good but not great. It could use a little more chicken, and less lettuce. The service was pleasant, but nothing to write home about. Needless to say if you make it over 20 years in the restaurant business you must be doing something right. Worth a stop if your local, but wouldn't go out of my way to get there

Had a great lunch while out shopping. Our waiter was super attentive and took great care of us! We had mozzarella sticks, mild wings, a grotto boli and a meatball sub with fries minus the cheese per my nephew's preference. Everything was super hot and fresh. My nephew topped his off with a tasty serving of their yummy gelato. I'd definitely go back.

NO DELIVERY ! Do NOT order deliver with Grottos Pizza ! If DoorDash doesn't deliver, they are NOT responsible according to them. Even though I ordered from GROTTOS website, and THEY decided to pimp out deliver to DoorDash... they say it's a DoorDash problem. BULLCRAP !. They delivered me a salad (pizza was ordered). I called Grottos local and some dumb@ss named Keith at Grottos doesn't understand the nature of liability. He could have helped fix it, instead wanted to argue over the symantics of me calling DoorDash. I NEVER interfaced with DoorDash, nor is it my responsibility to have to deal with them. I went to YOUR website...so its YOUR JOB to remediate the issue. OR, you can denounce DoorDash because I will never order Pizza here for a long time. I also called headquarters and just got attitude form some OLD HAG.... I grew up in Delaware and always supported this company... now I'm gonna down you us much as I can via social media. JERKS !!

Okay...there seems to be no on between on the reviews here. We were passing through and stopped in a for a late lunch. We ordered a 12" pepperoni I, mushroom and onion pizza and a Caesar salad. The pizza was good. Toppers are fresh and the sauce is good. I could quibble about the crust. The consistency is great: a nice blend between crunchy and chewy and it was cooked perfectly. My quibble is that the crust doesn't have much flavor. The Caesar was really good. Salad was fresh and the dressing was really good. Sometimes Caesar dressings can be bitter, but this was not. It was a really good "on the road" lunch for us. Gabrielle was out server and she couldn't have been more polite, attentive and adorable. My wife and I really enjoyed being in her section. So overall, I wouldn't claim it was the best pizza we ever had, but perfectly acceptable as a stop on by and grab lunch spot!

I was so thrilled to come here! The waiter at the front was so sweet! We sat down to eat and the rudest waiter came. She refused to serve 14 year olds cups without caps. She seemed to be in such a rush and was fairly rude. I have to say the food was fairly good but the service was horrible, every other waiter seemed very nice! The atmosphere was so nice! I think I had a bad experience with the waiters. The drinks also tasted fairly weird, maybe its the machine? Overall not too good, I would recommend Smokey Bones Bar & Fire Grill!

Sat down for lunch over 15 minutes never acknowledged walked out. It sucks that pizza is very good but customer service sucks.

There is absolutely positively inconsistency between the various Grotto locations: Rehoboth is the best. Ocean City is terrible. This location was on point today. I would recommend that Grotto's corporate reign in the consistency between locations. Having said that, I think when this is made right as it was today... with LOTS of sauce it's the best traditional pizza that money can buy... and even puts those famous places in NYC to shame. Delicious!

I was actually very surprised on how good this pizza tasted. Even the leftovers the next day tasted great cold. Will be back next time I visit the area.

Very nice place, cozy and homey. The food was very good. Also, besides giving you a lot of food, their pricing is excellent. Got a huge Grotto 'Boli for $9.99, Maryland Crap Soup for $5, and 24 ounces of Blue Moon beer for $6. For three people, the overall price was $59.49, one of the better places to get big portions for easily affordable pricing.

Seriously, get your beer menu straight. The first FIVE that I requested, they no longer offered. It gets a little annoying being told "no" over and over again. Unless I'm hearing it from my wife. But I digress. Very large restaurant inside with quite a number of tables. I can't imagine that it ever gets that busy. We had a quiet table in a section with only two or three others occupied. I chose the shrimp alfredo pizza and it was pretty tasty. The crust was on the thin side but the toppings were solid. Lots of those very small shrimps with a creamy garlicky white sauce. Not the sort that easily picks up, this was a knife and fork job.

I went to this grotto and order a regular 8 slices of pizza extra sauce sweet sauce and thick crust and they ended up giving me a personal 4 slices of pizza and I said I ordered a regular and said make sure there's sweet sauce so they came back with my regular extra sauce thick crust pizza and there was no sweet sauce and tbh I was really sad I was so in the mood for sweet sauce and I just didn't get it and btw the service took forever.

Ordered round pizza with extra cheese. There was hardly any sauce. Very bland. Harvey's lake grotto is so much better.

Well it seems the Grotto continues to go down hill. We once loved the Grotto but this location seems to badly need an update and some TLC. Long ago. The pizza became just so so. We ordered 6 pizzas. 3 cheese and 3 pepperoni. 2 of the cheese were very good. 1 pepperoni was good. Then 1 cheese and 2 pepperoni came out dry over cooked almost not edible. The fries were pretty good but we long for the days of the steak fries.

Clean place, friendly service, but super slow and understaffed. Times are tough I get it but wow it was slow even for '22. Pizzas are ok, but there's way better in this area.

We usually stop here on the weekends before hockey games and other events. Pizza is very good. Slow service with minimal staff. We were there on Saturday March 11, 2023 in the evening. Female server (who is there frequently) always seems like she hates her job. Very rude and cranky and heard making sarcastic remarks.

We love going to Grotto's at the beach and have heard over and over how this is just not the same. So on Saturday we decided to trek 2 hours north and try it for ourselves. We ordered the boneless chicken wings with bourbon sriacha sauce. Honestly I didn't have high hopes as I can never find good wings anymore. These wings were really good and the sauce was great! We also ordered two pizzas, one with just cheese and the second one was the veggie bianca. Again, my hopes weren't very high because of being told it's not the same as the beach. When the pizzas came out they looked very good and tasted even better than what they looked like. Would I travel 2 hours just for pizza? No, however if in the area I will make sure to stop at Grotto's. The service was good. They were changing shifts which created some confusion at first, but within 5 minutes all was settled. Our server checked on us several times and refilled my water 4 times. We were offered gelato, however it looked like it was all melting so we passed. Maybe next time...

I've been eating Grotto pizza my entire life. I even worked at this location in college. The last 3 times I had pizza from this location I was disappointed. The cheese was completely different than what they used to use. They now use a creamy, tasteless cheese. What happened to the cheese?!!

Sat at the counter/bar. The bartender was busy helping to serve tables. Sat for 20 minutes along with 3 other couples that just came in and finally got a soda and poof.....gone waiting on tables again. I don't know how the others did.....I left. Lowsy, awful service. Won't be back.

Great pizza, $2 Coors light drafts on Saturday. Great bartender and very reasonable prices for this day and age. Will definitely go back .

More like NOTTO PIZza am I right ?! 10 min at front desk staring at a sad gelato fixture that was melted and looked gross. Every server walked by without making eye contact. Ima go to subway and eat fresh.

Complete disappointment. I ordered pizza & wings from Grotto, using Uber Eats. After paying $32+ for a half tray of pepperoni & onion pizza, and an order of wings (only 6 wings in the order) I was expecting something special. What I got was a box of slimy cheese covered bread, that more closely resembled a Chuck-E-Cheese meal, than anything else. As for the order of mild traditional wings, they were as bland and tasteless as a glass of water. Of the six wings I received, one of them was broken off, and more of a nugget than a wing. In hindsight, I'd have been better off ordering McDonalds. Ba! Da! Ba! Ba! Bah!

Sad to say that Grotto continues to sink slowly into oblivion, Inconsistent food, prices that keep rising and surly employees all contribute to this downward spiral. Take out from Edwardsville a few weeks ago had lukewarm soggy fries and cold chicken. Sit down at Harvey's Lake last week had the incorrect order and no topping to speak of. How much are onions to a place the size of Grotto ? And drink prices are through the roof. It costs about 17 cents for a fountain soda and they charge 2.75 . With 6 people that's 18 dollars for soda alone. Pizza prices keep climbing also. Seems like they are more interested in profits than quality or consistency.

Being from out of town, I found out I wasn't too fond of sweet sauce pizza and happened to drive past Grotto Pizza. I saw that it didn't have the best yelp reviews but only stopped by because it was ok the way back to my hotel... but I was pleasantly surprised at how good the pizza was. I ended up going again a few days later and had another great experience. Definitely one of my favorite pizza spots in town (I've tried about 5-6 different places but hoping to try more in the future).

Had the usual pizza and wings on a Friday night, decided to try this place out. Pizza was mediocre, nothing special but it was decent. Wings were the only things we both enjoyed, good amount of meat and the hot sauce was tasty. Service on the other hand - was messy. We got takeout, not really expecting the quickest but the lady assured us about 10 minutes. She goes to take a break and tells this other guy to take over. Within that small period, he completely ignores the whole line in takeout and we watched our food just sit there for another 15 minutes. Standing in line waiting for the guy to notice us we tell him we're still waiting, he says "one sec" and walks away. Either under staffed or he was just too frazzled with everything. Food was cold by the time we got home, had to reheat it.

food is great really good!!! SERVICE IS HORRIBLE. hated my waitress multiple times because she was rude and called all my children brats. it takes ten minutes to get drinks out and when the food comes out finally it's been an hour. most of the waiters are nice though.

I'm a fan of Grotto Pizza. I'm not a fan of Grotto Pizza. Let me explain... I've been to many of the Grotto locations south of the Mason-Dixon line, and it's hard to believe they share any DNA with the NEPA locations. Which makes me sad because the DE & MD locations are so darn good year after year. So tonight I ordered the "thick, tender and delicious!" Sicilian-style pizza for take-out, and when I got home two miles and five minutes later I was sorely disappointed when I opened the box. What I got was actually "thin, soggy and funny tasting!" pizza. And by thin, I mean the crust was literally about 1/16" thick and the entire slice was about 3/8" thick. Hard to believe, I know, but see my cross-section picture with a ruler for proof. I'm not ready for AARP discounts yet, but let me just say I am old enough that I've eaten countless pizzas all over the USA for the past several decades. As for tonight's experience: Worst. Pizza. Ever.

Whenever we pass through this area on the way to visit family we stop. I really love their pizza. Great sauce and always get "The Works" cos I love that it's topped with garlic! Yum, yum, yum!!! Okay, now my mouth is watering and I'm several states away!! Hmmm, maybe they'll expand down to North Carolina! We could sure use some decent pizza here!

What happened to grotto pizza. Just got a large with pepperoni, very dry, hardly any sauce. Dough with some cheese not a fan. I haven't been there in a while and I think I know why. It's a shame. It used to be good

We love the Grotto Pizza's in Delaware and frequent them quite regularly when we travel on vacation. While traveling home from Boston we were pleased to find a Grotto Pizza along the way. Since we were in a rush we ordered several of their par-baked pizzas to go with the intent of freezing/eating them upon our arrival home. The pizzas traveled very well and were quite good upon eating them. While they were good and tasted like the Grotto's we were familiar with, they just were not as good as the ones found along the coast in DE.

I have family in the area and since I grew up going to the Bloomsburg Fair every year as a kid, Grotto's pizza was always a must so it is a bit nostalgic for me. I'll go right into that I'm only giving 4 stars at this point because I've ONLY ever done takeout orders here so I don't have anything to base a full experience on. I read a few of the other complaints in Yelp reviews and have almost avoided eating here because I don't want my Grotto memories tainted. I've been treated with mutual respect at the order counters and rarely had a problem. One time I called for a pick up order about 15 minutes before they opened. They accommodated but whoever was unlocking the door a handful of minutes early when I arrived gave me a bit of grief even though my product was done and waiting for me. I can't remember a time I've ordered a topping, what's the need? "One large plain pie to go, please". The consistency of the sweet yet subtle amount of sauce they use and a dash of cheese is something to be admired. There really aren't many places that can match up with the TASTE of Grotto's, it is extremely unique and is likely why it is still a hit on fair midways. My one minor complaint is why it seems to dry out fairly easily the next day and isn't nearly as good reheated in an oven or microwave. The H2O in the dough must be on the light side but I'll forgive them for what. Don't waste your time with wings or the like......hell, even pepperoni would be overkill. It also seems like you should avoid sit down service. Call ahead 20 minutes, right before leaving the mall nearby or work, grab and go. Want a six pack of beer with it? They have those too! /drool

The worst pizza ever!!!! I got the Sicilian pizza. Had delivery it was completely cold when I received it. I was told it would take an hour and a half and we only were across the street at the hotel. The quality and taste was pretty bad. I would give this no stars but didn't have a choice...

Went to Grotto's today and had their Pizza Buffet. Not worth the money. All they had was 3 different types of pizza which were dried out. And a small tray of pasta. For 8.95 it also included your drink. Plus they need to update their booths and paint. We sat in a booth and there was such a great big hole in it I don't see how they could seat anyone there. So disappointing was looking forward to a nice lunch.

We had the Classic Pizza... it had absolutely no flavor! The cheese and pepperoni had no taster. There were virtually no onions on it either. What happened to Grotto pizza??

Arcade wasn't open. Don't recommend coming here. After I got home I pissed up a rope because of their lemonade.

Possibly the worst service I've had anywhere. I got the wrong pizza delivered. When I called the employee gave me a hard time and I muttered to my self holy shit. She threatened to hang up on me and when I asked for a manger did just that. After I calle back she put me on hold only to hang up on me again. I called back a third time and she said the manager wouldn't talk to me and she would've give me her name to file a complaint. Then she hung up on me a third time. Awful terrible customer service.

Great pizza and I have my kids party's in the party room and have never been disappointed they work with you and extremely friendly

Terrible We ordered delivery in Wilkes Barre, PA. They did not send what we ordered. They charged us the right price, but did not give us what we paid for. We waited one hour and the pizza came cold, not even warm. Disgusting pizza. Never again. Already told the hotel office not to recommend them ever!

Delivery for 23 at 9pm after an away game. The pizza was good, garlic bread was eh. Good experience overall. I called at 530pm to have the pies delivered at 9 and they were right on time with hot pizza and took my credit card over the phone with no prob. Good enough.

The pizza. The wings. The hoagies. This place just cannot do any wrong. The pizza is amazing. The crust in just indescribable. It's not thick or thin, just right and puffy. The sauce is delicious without being overbearing. The cheese and toppings make this the perfect pizza. You can't stop at just one slice. More like half the pie. The wings are out of this world. My favorite sauce by far is the Grand Slam sauce (a combo of mild sauce and garlic). The sauce is always plentiful. Order a pizza and wing combo & I dare you NOT to dip your crust in the wing sauce. It's that good.

1 star rating is as low as Yelp will let me go, otherwise i would go lower. Ate at the mall location this past Wednesday, wasn't a good experience. Waited 10 mins to be seated. The service was average, the food was ok. My daughters order was wrong and after fixing it they said they would take it off the bill. After receiving the bill, it was not removed. After questioning it they said they would take half off. Because if this we will not be returning.

Waited a long time to write this review. I still think it's hilarious. Decided to go down to Grotto ( Mall) for a cold beer and some food. Big night as Penn State was playing Ohio State and both teams were highly ranked. Probably the biggest game of the year. This is Grotto SPORTS BAR right? Just as the game was beginning , they shut the sound off on the game and a band sets up in the corner and starts to play. I thought who in hell is managing this sports bar and decides to do this.
