A truly enjoyable experience. This pub is dog friendly, which was a big plus for us. The atmosphere was welcoming and vibrant, supported by friendly and attentive staff. Drinks were reasonably priced, with an added bonus of 10% off, and the app was simple and convenient to use. The interior was spotless and tastefully decorated. Overall, everything was excellent no improvements needed.

AVOID UNLESS YOU WANT MICROWAVE MEALS. Very quietly a Marstons pub. Had two Sunday dinners which was poor quality meat, drier than gandhi flip flop and missing items. We had to send one beef back as it looks like it had been microwaved or held under heat lamps for at least two days. Complained to the server, who basically argued that it wasnt held at all and it was all fresh, good quality produce. The server (I'm going to call water gun kelly because machine gun kelly was his hero clearly) then made a big deal about changing the meal. Microwaved veg. Barely roasted potatoes. The "chef" should be ashamed of themselves sending out such garbage. It was expensive, even if the meal was better, it would still be worth about 7 quid less. Then when out table was cleared the old woman server ignored both my pregnant partner and me, grabbed the plates and didn't ask how it was or apologise for the poor meal. Also playing Christmas music in September was absolutely crazy. Find a nice local pub instead. Edit: the reply is hilarious. As if i would ever come back. The standards I expect is not to be served old boot leather as beef and for an apology for serving garbage food.

Convenient drive for Bakewell, Buxton, and surrounding areas with friendly staff and a nice restaurant. Rooms a little basic but comfy bed - fine for sleeping, which is the main point! For the price it's great. We ate in the restaurant for X3 evenings and would recommend various dishes. Staff attentive and friendly. Atmosphere of bar is very pleasant with log fire. Friday does a quiz in the evening which was fun to do informally without having to pay to join while we had dinner. Parking on-site, has a number of EV chargers if needed.

We were a table of 9 in the conservatory. Our server was very friendly and polite, willing to engage with us and have a laugh. We were served promptly with all aspects of the meal. The food was served hot and very tasty. We will be back.

Excellent place to stop and eat. Very nice looking bar and restaurant with plenty of room and also dogs are welcome. Food was ordered and very quickly delivered the staff are very polite and friendly. We all ordered a different variety of food which came very well presented and was amazing. The car park is very big and has 5 fast electric car chargers.

The rooms are clean but a little basic, the staff were great at check in. The evening meal was nothing short of perfect. I am newly diagnosed with gluten intolerance and the staff did everything they could to make sure my meal was safe and yummy. The staff were so helpful, I was really worried about my first time eating out with this requirement and I was treated so well. Thank you to all the team.

Have just returned from the Grouse and Claret, having had splendid food and the best meal of our holiday. Each course was well presented and served by pleasant staff. The duo of lamb rump was beautifully cooked, accompanied by a delicious mini lamb pie. The thick bacon (gammon) steak was excellent. Our thanks to Sam, assistant manager, for his friendly and attentive manner.

Overall it was fine. They were launching their Christmas menu so all the staff were wearing Christmas jumpers and they were playing Christmas music. Pretty weird for September. Music was also too loud. In spite of requesting a high chair in our booking they put us on a sofa table. At least they were able to move us. Food was pretty average. Roast beef portion size was fine but the beef was 2 small overcooked slices. 2 small undercooked potatoes, veg which didn’t taste of anything and a collapsed Yorkshire - looked like they’d run over it!! I don’t know if it was expensive these days - probably average…just like it tasted. Ordering at the bar took ages even though it wasn’t busy. Then they did a strange mix of table service. When the food was brought out they ask if they can get you anything. They mean condiments, but my request for a glass of water was met with a ‘order at the bar’. Why ask then!!! The web site is very good, but in reality it’s just one up from weatherspoons.
