Grove of Titans Trailhead

Been here several times, and every visit has felt completely surreal. I’ve taken both the short and long routes, and each offers its own kind of magic. The short route was with kids, and they handled it like champs. The long route was with our dog—other than carrying him for the last stretch, it was totally manageable. No matter which path you choose, make sure you take this hike. You won’t regret it.

We visited the Redwoods starting from Crescent City and driving through Howland Hill Rd – Douglas Park Rd – S Fork Rd. The entire route was incredibly beautiful, peaceful, and very safe, with access to three different hiking trails along the way. We highly recommend visiting, but please remember not to leave any trash or pet waste behind. This is a sacred place—these redwoods are ancient, living elders that deserve our respect.

Driving Howland Hills Road and hiking to the Grove of teh Titans was the highlight of our trip to Redwood NP. The road is really magical and fun to drive. Parking is in limited spots and along the road at this trailhead. It was crowded when we got there, mid week around 2PM, but we found a spot pretty easily. The trail itself is not difficult to follow or hike and I would rate it "easy, " though my father who had knee issues turned back and waited at the car because there were some steps and some slightly steeper areas. Once you reach the grove, the walk is on a raised metal platforms, which were fun to hike on. The trees in the grove are magnificent.

Oh my. We've spent the past three days hiking through popular parks and trails from Arcata up to Jedediah. We saw some beautiful stuff, including Fern Canyon, Lady Bird Johnson Grove, and more. This Grove of the Titans is by far my favorite trail of all the places we've visited this week. For a Sunday, it was pretty empty, though it is October and raining. I cant even describe the mind boggling size and age of some of these trees. And the trail to the grove is absolutely gorgeous. Well maintained. And has the raised trail platforms at the actual grove to prevent human damage to the forest. We even came across a young deer that just popped out onto the trail in front of us. We stood still and waited for it to pass. It just stopped right there next to us to eat the clover. Its truly a magical place. A must see place for ancient tree viewing.

Beautiful trail with majestic giant trees. Trail is well maintained and very well marked with signs to easily follow the path. The elevation isn’t bad and the hike is fairly easy. Definitely a must see if you are in the Redwoods national park area.

This is a beautiful hike through groves of Redwoods. It's hikable for most ages. We saw young and old alike. We saw a number of dogs on the trail, but much of the walkway is slatted metal. Great for traction, but it might be rough for doggy paws, or wide enough for small dog legs to slip through.

This is a beautiful site to hike. It takes you up a ways and back down to the Grove of Titans. The trails are well kept with signs to stay on the path because we don't want to disturb nature. The best part about the path is that it takes you straight through cut redwood and under fallen ones. The scenery is beautiful don't forget to take a lot of pictures.

Excellent hike to see the fantastic grove of giant redwoods. Magical experience to walk among the towering trees. Can't imagine only 5% of the redwoods are left in the wild. How could we have done this to this absolutely majestic being of our mother nature? If you are a nature or earth lover, this is a mini pilgrimage. Practical details: Elevation is manageable for most people and kids. The trail gets crowded easily by midday so I recommend doing this hike in the early morning. Public restrooms are available but are maintained poorly (like any other state or national parks). Parking is only along the narrow road and is tricky when it is crowded. That said, it's all worth it. Don't miss this! Better than hiking trails at the main National park nearby.
