"Wunder Bar at Grunaüer, Crossroads District. This former railyard warehouse that faces Union Station was beautifully converted into a soaring dining area, but arguably the best aspect of the space is the cozy bar and broad patio that brims with people when the sun’s out. Subway tile and classic fixtures take you back, while the biggest area selection of German and Austrian beers on tap (plus housemade sausages, sauerkraut and other authentic bites from the Austrian owners) keeps us coming back. A truly unique eating and drinking spot in our city."

This is what you get when you’re ordering schnitzel and apple strudel. Schnitzel was crispy, can’t really say more; strudel was pure excellence in my taste. Definitely will try their other desserts if I am back in town. Ambience of this restaurant was elegant and sophisticated. Works well for formal occasions.

Excellent restaurant with a solid Central European menu. Not long, but everything is good. The interior is nicely decorated and suitable for a more casual lunch or fancier dinner (they're not fussy how you dress though). The draft beer menu was an absolute highlight with a great selection of region appropriate beers and local beers that fit the theme. We started with a wurst sampler, and I had the goulash. Enjoyed both thoroughly. The recipes don't seem Americanized which I appreciated. They were happy to work around my food allergies too.

My husband and our friend wanted to try something new and ended up here. We walked in and immediately thought, "Oh no. This is going to be too expensive." It looks very upscale! We sat down and we're immediately served water and told how the menu works. We were shocked at how affordable it all was (especially with how fancy it seems!). I got the Weiner Schnitzel, a soup, and an Apple Strudel as well as an Austrian soda. It was all unique and flavorful! And to top it off, we got the cutest Austrian post cards with our bill! We all thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will definitely be back when in town. One of the biggest highlights of our trip!

We had Sunday special and the beef priced 37 dollars. Sorry I forgot the name of them. They are too greasy too oil for us. Most oily food that I have ever had all over the world. My husband and I worked in Germany for one year. On his birthday, today, we decided to have dinner at a German food restaurant. The atmosphere is find. The decorations are good. The food are too oily for us.

This restaurant is truly a haven that elevates your dining experience from the moment you step in. The servers are exceptionally warm and helpful, making you feel right at home. We've had the pleasure of dining here twice, driving all the way from St. Louis, and each time has been nothing short of extraordinary. The food is a symphony of flavors, the beer selection is impressive, and the desserts are a masterpiece. This restaurant is a shining example of excellence, offering unbeatable value without breaking the bank. We can't wait to return and experience it all again. It's a truly fulfilling experience that leaves you inspired and wishing every dining experience could be this exceptional.

Traveling for business. Liked it so much, I went twice. Two dinners there, both outstanding. Servers Madison and Megan were great, friendly, helpful, and knew the menu well. Wine and beer selections were top notch.

Google
Fantastic Austrian food with an incredible atmosphere in the wonderful freight house building, definitely prefer this restaurant over its neighbors, for the price the food is better quality and more unique. Drinks and dessert here are interesting and diverse. Make reservations to avoid a wait!

Google
Amazing ambiance and great service. The salad was delicious; crisp and refreshing. The Schweinsbraten was a bit too salty for our taste, and the Schnitzel could have used a bit more seasoning, but all in all it's a place I would 100% recommend and come back to.

Yelp
During my recent visit to Kansas City, I discovered a hidden gem for dinner that transported me straight back to my time in Austria. Nestled in a bustling shopping area, this delightful restaurant offers ample parking, including a convenient charging station for electric vehicles at the back--perfect for those who want to recharge their cars while enjoying the local scene. Upon entering, I was immediately captivated by the charming interior that beautifully mirrors the warmth and comfort of Austrian decor. The menu is a culinary treasure trove, with an array of mouthwatering options that make you feel like you've stepped into a cozy European eatery. I couldn't resist ordering the Schweinehaxe and a classic pork schnitzel. Both dishes were a delight--tender, flavorful, and genuinely representative of authentic Austrian cuisine. Every bite was a joyous reminder of the rich flavors and traditions that define this culinary style. Look no further if you're craving an unforgettable dining experience that serves up genuine Austrian fare. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to anyone eager to explore the taste of Austria right here in KC!

Yelp
The food was good. I have been here several times. Enjoyed the menu, I enjoyed the meal. Service was professional and experienced. Atmosphere still the same, comfortable but not fancy. Like the location and patking.

Yelp
Grünauer serves up an authentic taste of Austrian/German cuisine that's both charming and satisfying. While the food could benefit from a tad more seasoning (we jokingly wished for some hot sauce!), it stays true to the traditional flavors of the region. The beer selection is top-notch, perfectly complementing the hearty dishes. Our server was exceptionally attentive, making our dining experience all the more enjoyable. The atmosphere is a true standout--set in a historic train yard building, the decor evokes the cozy, welcoming vibe of a classic Austrian restaurant. Although the prices are on the higher side, the portions are generous and justify the cost. A surprising highlight was the cheese danish, which tasted like a high-end cheesecake--a delightful finish to our meal. We'll definitely be returning for another visit!

Yelp
Grunauer is often a charming and atmosphery restaurant that we overlook. The building and furnishings alone are a topic worthy of a poem. It feels very much like you have stepped back in time but with modern amenities. The design is suiting to where it is placed in the city, granting it even more ambiance. During the holidays the entire area is decorated lovely and always worth a trip to. The staff is warm and friendly and the food tastes similar to your Oma's especially the potato salad and cucumber salad. I love that much of the ingredients, all the way through the meats, is locally sourced. Make sure you save room for dessert. Great place for family dinners, work gatherings and dates.

Yelp
I cannot say enough great things about this place. I LOVED EVERY SINGLE BITE! The waiter was amazing (shout out to AJ S). The ambiance was perfect. The food was the best! My friend and I had the best afternoon lunch on a Sunday. We chose from the weekend lunch menu--the 3 course lunch. The cream of mushroom soup was divine. They swirled rich sour cream in right before serving because I tasted just the swirl and it was so rich and creamy. I loved that there were bits of mushroom in the soup. It was not puréed to death. Loved it! The main courses were fabulous. The pork tenderloin was indeed TENDER! I cut it with my butter knife. The steak knife wasn't even necessary. I think I may have used my fork to cut it too. It was that tender. The dumpling was as expected. The cabbage was good too--I think I tasted cinnamon. I enjoyed the dumpling with the cabbage with a little gravy. That combination was great. The root vegetable (seasonal hash) entree was out of this world magnificent. The maple cider glaze was perfection. I brought half of it home and I dare say it was even better the next day. The desserts were delightful! The Apple strudel was balanced with perfectly cooked apples and flaky pastry. The farmer's cheese strudel was delicious with kind of a grainy white curd type of cheese that wasn't quite cream cheese, and not quite feta texture... I loved it and wanted to lick the plate, but if you have any kind of issue with texture, this dish may not be for you. I'd describe it as a cheesecake-like-strudel-for-the-adventurous. Both desserts had delicious raisins. They may have made an appearance in my dreams recently.... I told my friend that I can usually find at least one fault in a meal, something I would have done differently or wished had been better. But with this lunch? I found nothing to complain about. Not. One. Thing. I have discovered that I do indeed enjoy German food. And when it's this good? I'll be back.

Yelp
We celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary at Grunauer, and it was a truly wonderful experience from start to finish. The atmosphere inside was spacious yet incredibly welcoming, with dark wood accents and cozy seating that made us feel right at home. Our waitress was bubbly, engaging, and knew the menu inside and out, which made choosing our meals a breeze. We both opted for the schnitzel--my husband had the pork, and I chose the chicken. Both were perfectly breaded, light, and flavorful, with the meat cooked to juicy perfection. I had expected Austrian-German food to be a bit heavy, but each dish surprised me with how balanced and satisfying it was. Even though we were pretty full, we took the apple strudel home and were delighted by how flaky and flavorful it was, and it was reheated well. Plenty of parking, quick seating, and fantastic service made for a seamless dining experience. I couldn't have asked for a better place to celebrate a special occasion. We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Fantastic food and excellent service. The ambience is elegant yet semi casual with white cloth tables and up scale Service. Absolutely loved our experience and meals!

Yelp
The Best place I've been in a long time!!! The food was fabulous and the service was exceptional!!! I loved the look of the inside of the restaurant..was very authentic European looking!!

Yelp
What a great restaurant! It was recommended to be by a local and did not disappoint. Thankfully we made a reservation because the restaurant was packed when we arrived. Despite that, it didn't feel overcrowded; the tables are a decent space apart so you aren't on top of each other. We had the Wiener Schnitzel, which was just how I remembered it from Vienna. It was cooked perfectly and the portion was huge! The apple strudel was quite good as well. I think they have a patio with a biergarten during the warmer months, which would be worth checking out on my next visit.
google avatar

Yelp
We had no idea what to expect when we booked our reservation. I was very pleased to find food and a menu which was both elevated and approachable. We loved everything we had. I highly recommend the pork three ways entree. It was fantastic! Oh, and the sauerkraut! Who knew it could be a show stopper?! I guess we know now. The restaurant was clean and lively, but not so loud that my wife and I couldn't have conversation. This was an all around win for us. Service, food and atmosphere were all on point.

Yelp
Service and food were very good. Would definitely go back. The ambiance made me feel like I was in Germany.

Yelp
It was so good-- & the server was also excellent. She grew up in Germany and our bilingual son enjoyed conversing the her.

Yelp
Excellent. Great atmosphere. Great service and most importantly great food! I had the beef gulasch with spatzle. The beef was very tender and the paprika sauce was amazing. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
Cute little spot near the heart of downtown Kansas City, we were able to get a reservation on a Friday night during our work conference, and we are so glad we did! This place came highly recommended by our colleagues "if you want good beer and great food!" It was not oversold. We did the bread basket, schnitzel, and Hungarian gulasch. The good came out quickly and was quite flavorful. Our waitress had great recommendations and mentioned that she'd been working there for years, which is usually a good sign in busy restaurants. Overall, very happy and we'll be back next year to try new tasty treats!!
google avatar

Yelp
The food was very good, I had the (veal) weiner schnitzel, which was pretty tasty, the kids had the chicken schnitzel, which was decent. The red cabbage was ok, as was the sauer kraut. The apple strudel was rather disappointing. The service was good, very friendly. It was a bit loud in there (full house). Meal and drinks (1 alcoholic drink) for a family of 4 ran me $200 (including tip). Overall, it was a nice night out and I would recommend it to others.

Yelp
Absolutely delighted! Got their 3 course lunch schwarzkohlsalat, gulash und rotkohl So yummy! For dessert I had Topfenstrudel... absolute perfection! Thanks to my server Justin for his great recommendations and service! Hope I can visit Kansas soon so I can repeat!

Yelp
The food here is so tasty and well-prepared. Such a calm and inviting ambiance during the Christmas time! Our Server was so kind and helpful too. :) Would love to come back whenever I'm back in KC!

Yelp
I've been to Germany once and loved the food. So, I dreamed of having the same thing here. I would say we were 95% there. The choice of German beer on tap was great. The food? Bravo! Prost? How would you say it? We had the Friday special which is slow simmered prime beef flatiron with grilled potatoes and a delicious (wish it had more) horseradish sauce. This was enough to feed two, which is what we did. For an appetizer we ordered Wurstlteller which provided two of three choices of brats -- we had bratwurst which was great and kasekrainer which was delicious! The cheese oozed out as we cut it. The side pickled items were a bonus. The service was very friendly. Will definitely go back on a future KC visit.

Yelp
Fabulous meal! Really enjoyed my sauerbraten (fork tender), paired with sauerkraut and spaetzle. I got to watch college football from my seat at the bar and had a serviceable Reisling to go with the food. I had the biggest sachertorte I have ever seen for dessert--seriously, shared it with two other people! I'd definitely return.

Yelp
Right as we walked in the door the staff made us feel welcome. Our waiter was amazing, knowledgeable of all aspects of the menu, and very informative of what to expect with each dish we enquired about. As soon as you receive your dish you can tell you're going to enjoy your meal. It's smells amazing, and tastes just as good. We have been here a few times now and will continue to return for the total experience. The food, the service, and the ambiance.

Yelp
Great ambience, with a quiet and cozy spacious dining room. Knowledgeable and friendly service. Our food was fresh and came out quickly, but we felt underwhelmed by most of the entrees. The sausage appetizer (Würstlteller - 4/5) was our favorite of the orders, with a nicely tender and juicy wurst, with a crisp casing that had a snap to it, and nice combination of pickled toppings to complement it. The pork schnitzel was decent, but lacked some flavor. With the cucumber salad and potato sides, it was much better. Pork belly dish had more chewy than crispy skin, and also lacked some complexity that we had expected. The side of spatzle was bland. Overall, the entrees were mostly underwhelming. For the dessert, our pavlova was not bad flavor and texture wise, but quickly became overly sweet. We were unable to finish it due to the sweetness.
google avatar

Yelp
Went to Grumauer for 20th wedding anniversary dinner. Atmosphere and service are great. Food was a bit bland but likely due to it not being my taste. Desserts average at best. The worst part of my experience and reason for 3 stars was due to the specialty drink I ordered. The alcohol (Bourbon) used for this drink had to be bottom shelf well as it was absolutely atrocious. I couldn't finish it as it was very tart and the very low grade bourbon tasted like drinking grain alcohol. I was a little surprised that the server didn't ask me if I wanted something else as I left the glass full on the table (see picture). Overall this is a nice restaurant and in a fun location but I probably won't be back. Nothing blew me away with the experience but know that others rate this restaurant high so may just be my taste. Atmosphere 5 stars, service 5 stars, food and drink 2 stars.

Yelp
Business lunch. If you like German food, this spot hits on great food and service, plus a great looking dining room. $18 lunch special is great value for three courses.

Yelp
I stumbled upon champs. Best haircut I've had in five years. I did not get his name. The guy closest to the door Takes his time. Thank you so much heavy set guy . Whatever your name is.

Yelp
Good Austrian food. We had a sausage sampler for an appetizer, for my main I had the Schnitzel (very good) with the dumpling (just OK) and the red cabbage (good). The menu is a little shorter than I expected, but they had some good Germanic favorites. Service was friendly but slow. Would go again though.

Yelp
Though Kansas City is known for its BBQ, I will 100% male sure to come back here on my next visit. We came to KC to visit my Dad's birthday and ended up booling this authentic Austrian Cuisine restaurant during our trip to try something that we aren't able to get easily back home. Starting out, the restaurant is very elegant and was decorated in a festive manner due to the time of our visit. There was a good amount of seating, yet it still felt open and roomy yet cozy at the same time. I decided to start with a unique Austrian soft drink called Spezi. It's described as a fusion of orange soda and cola, and that is exactly how it tasted to me. It was surprisingly tasty, and I'm happy I tried it. We also tried their homemade bread, which featured different and unique tasting breads with a cheese spread, which was very tasty. After that, we ordered the dish that I was most excited to try, the Salzburger Schnitzel, which was a normal schnitzel filled with ham, cheese and bacon, and the Wednesday special, a Beef Goulash, as well as a side of the cheese spatzle. All I can say is my mouth went to heaven. Both meals were beyond delicious, and I'm so happy we got to try these dishes. Funny enough, my favorite dish was the Beef Goulash. If you're visiting on a Wednesday, I would definitely recommend trying this dish. You won't be disappointed! We finished with an Apple Strudel, which was surprisingly tasty and not overly sweet. Our server was very helpful in helping us choose our dishes and was friendly and attentive. There's nothing more I can say other than if you're looking for something different, DEFINITELY try this restaurant!!

Yelp
LION'S MANE MUSHROOM SCHNITZEL - need I say more???? We came here for our friend's birthday and were treated super well by Elton. Do yourself a favor and order the bread! (4 different kinds, and with pickle and paprika butter - to DIE for) Delicious and mouthwatering food is abundant here; and in such a lovely atmosphere that works for a business lunch as well as a romantic night out. The vibes are immaculate and the food is somehow even better! Forget about pronouncing the menu items - but don't worry about that, because I assure you anything you end up ordering is going to be excellent! I had a dish with seasonal root veg and crumbled COOKIES on top as croutons!? It strangely worked, adding a nutty sweetness to the potential bitterness of Brussels sprouts. They were able to sub in the mushroom cutlet for the chicken, which I really appreciated. This is culinary art at its finest.
google avatar

Madeline B.

Yelp
Grünauer is one of my favorite spots, but flies SO under the radar in KC! I've never had a bad meal here and the service is always great. The restaurant itself is also such a lovely vibe -- both inside and outside. There's a casual, yet elegant feel. During my last visit, we started with a variety of sausages. My husband had the classic schnitzel and I had the seasonal vegetarian entree (KRUMBIRNGRÖSTL - Alpine hash of sweet potatoes, carrots, squash, Brussels sprouts, & red cabbage, sautéed in sage brown butter, Hemme Bros. cheddar, crushed amaretti) but added chicken. I also had a nice and crisp, yet not too sweet Austrian wine.

Yelp
Seeking authentic Austrian/German fare with friendly, informative service and a classy ambiance? Look no further. Our group of 6 colleagues had dinner after a team offsite and everything exceeded our expectations. I'm German and a tough critic, so this is high praise. Faves (not all pictured): Pretzel, Schnitzel, Veggie Goulasch and Sausage shared plate. Our server was really helpful in decisioning ... and the beer and wine list were lovely. Start in the beer garden and then dine inside where low key blues plays (no oompa music here).
google avatar

Yelp
The food was pretty good, but not the best selection for kids The service was on fire, the woman who served us was so sweet
google avatar

Jennifer M.

Yelp
This is the second time I've eaten here both times for Restaurant Week. He has been wanting to try their sauerbraten to compare to his family's recipe. I preferred his entree over mine Gemüsesalat. Mine would be better as a side dish. I am still on the fence if I want to come again and try a different dish. I enjoyed the ambience and we had great service as well. I'm just not sure Austrian cuisine is my thang.
google avatar

Yelp
Traditional food. Amazing taste! Had no idea that we would find a place like this while visiting KC. Server was also so great!
google avatar

Yelp
Wonderful ... Step outside your "Midwest Cuisine routine" UNIQUE cuisine served in a warm, comfortable setting. Service was terrific (Alicia) ... this is now our favorite spot in Kansas City. Portions are sizable and represent lunch for tomorrow ;) Truly worth a visit, our meal was just terrific, We spoke with Elizabeth a bit about the restaurant and the remarkable House Bloody Mary cocktail... truly unique and delicious. Value options high!!! Portions large Wonderful leftovers the next day enjoyed Love the entire experience !!! PS - I don't want to move to KC, but we may reluctantly "end up" in KC... and this restaurant reminds me of "what's possible" in KC
google avatar

Yelp
Rich and flavorful dishes that at least to a lamen, appear to stay true to the eastern European influence. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere is an interesting melding of fine dining meets old school homey feeling. I felt dishes were very fairly priced for the quantity and quality on the plate as well.

April C.

Yelp
Went with the whole family. Great experience, something new and interesting to try, felt authentic & cultured.
google avatar

Emily C.

Yelp
I drove to downtown KC with my little kids by myself to meet my family for my sister's birthday lunch. I had never been here before but had heard of it. I lived in Germany for 4 years, so I am familiar with German food. I don't eat pork, so that cuts out a lot of German food options. I chose a veggie dish, soup & cheese dessert. Everything was good, service was good & we had a large table with kids & that's never easy. I was worried about parking but there's a lot behind the restaurant, so that's a plus.
google avatar

David R.

Yelp
5 star as always! Great ambience and top notch food. Knowledgeable servers. The mushroom goulash is a hidden marvel!

Yelp
I enjoy Austrian food, so I was thrilled to find out that this place exists from some colleagues when I was in Kansas City for work. They have a daily special, but I did not opt for that. Instead, I decided on a paprika schnitzel with two beers, both Austrian dunkels, and it was absolutely delicious. The paprika schniztel had a lovely breading of just the right crispness, and had the perfect amount of bell pepper, ham, and paprika cheese stuffing, such that the flavors complemented each other. In addition, it came with some absolutely *lovely* potatoes. There was also a lemon to squeeze a bit of juice onto the schniztel. Service was fast and friendly, price was good -- most entrées are between twenty-five and thirty-five dollars before tax and tip -- and it was a nice touch to see the owner actually out and about helping to bus tables. The selection is good: entrees are largely schnitzels of various sorts, and the appetizers are good as well -- we split a duck patée that was just *sublime.* In addition, they've got a great selection of Austrian beers on tap. If you're in Kansas City and want to try something besides the ubiquitous barbecue, I highly recommend Grünauer.
google avatar

Alan N.

Yelp
Came here for dinner with a colleague and have to say that this is the best meal I've had in years. Their beer and wine selections are excellent and the hungarian goulash with Spöetzl was AMAZING. It had a nice smokey paprika flavor with just the right amount of heat. All the beers I had were excellent along with the apple strudel which was fantastic.
google avatar

Wanda H.

Yelp
Love, love, LOVE this place! The best German food I've had in a reeeeally long time. I think the little nettings they put on the lemons are the best thing since sliced bread! You can really squeeze them lemons, without dumping seeds all over whatever you're eating. The food was GREAT, though I made a bad call on ordering. My friend ordered the Sauerbraten and gave me a bite (or THREE) and it surpassed my Schnitzel and it was a LOT more flavorful. The service was IMPECCABLE and we enjoyed our meal very much. This is a pretty classy place and I'd love to get back here again.

Yelp
I imagine this place is great for those who want comforting German/Austrian food. Overall, everything was good, but some dishes were too salty. Service was great; our waitress was on top of things without being intrusive. Note: These are from when I went in 2022. Hausbrot basket ($10 for all four): The house bread was worth it, although I always want free bread. There were a couple I liked the most, while a couple options were just mediocre, so I wished there'd been a helpful description on the menu/a pick-and-choose sort of thing. In addition to the butter, there was a seasonal spread/butter with fall flavors. Wammerl (Pork belly skewer appetizers, $14): Decent skewers. They weren't that flavorful or soft, though, so I wouldn't order these again. Cup tagesuppe (Soup of the day, tomato? $6): Standard, yummy tomato soup. l-gulasch (Grains and meat, $14): Delicious, comforting, and hearty, especially with the spätzle. Wurstlteller (Sausage combo, $17): Delicious sausage combo. I can't remember which two I picked, but one of the sausages was noticeably saltier than the other. They had a great Rotator beer ($7) that had an amazing lime flavor to it-- wish I could remember the name. I tried a bit of the tiroler gröstl my friend ordered. While lots of the other dishes were a little too salty, this one was straight-up salty. It couldn't be finished and we took it home for leftovers.

Yelp
I was in town for a conference and decided to try this place out with a friend. As soon as you enter you get hit with the sensation that you've been transported to a real authentic Biergarten. You can tell they put a lot of thought into the design of the restaurant. The beer menu is incredible with imported beers from Germany. I ordered a dunkelweizen beer and was impressed that they served it in the appropriate weizen style beer glass as well! For food I had the veal schnitzel with cucumber salad and potato salad; it was delicious! Service was fantastic and this would be an awesome place to host a meet up with friends next time I'm in town.

Yelp
Brunch was delicious. I'm glad I found this place. Good table service, and our server did a great job explaining the menu. The coffee was great and probably the best we had lately during brunch. I had the Kassler Rippchen (pork loin with creamed spinach, roti potatoes with a sunny side egg). Good portion size, and it was what I needed. When the dish came out, I thought they brought out the wrong dish since I didn't order pork chop. I never had much luck with pork chop, but this was juicy and not crazily salted. I wished the roti potatoes weren't that burnt. If we had a longer stay in KC, we would come back since there are a few other things we would like to try from their menu.

Yelp
Came in for a birthday lunch celebration party of four. About a ten minute wait. Waitress was perfect. Helped us through the recently updated menu both in understanding the food selections and how the courses worked. The bread was so very good. We all loved our choices... Salad, quiche, goulash, and desserts. The ambiance of this place is so amazing. Do watch your choices in drinks and food because it does add up quickly. This is probably the second most expensive place I've gone to. However you can make choices that limit your spend. This place and its food are so good you really want to try it out.

Yelp
YUM! This is such a unique spot that's somehow simultaneously romantic and family-friendly. It's a fun, classy spot that has a menu ranging from safe to adventurous eats. We ordered pork schnitzel and apple pancakes, and both were great. It was busy when we went, so we had to flag down the server a few times for water refills and our check, but it's well worth it! He had great recommendations as well.

Yelp
We had such an amazing experience! Pam, our server, was super personable and friendly, making wonderful recommendations based on her own experiences. I initially planned to order my safety wine, a Pinot noir, but she recommended an Austrian wine instead and it was perfection. We also had the Saturday special, a beef dish in wine sauce with red cabbage and spaetzle pasta, which was very sweet- highly recommend. The rest of us ordered the stuffed snitzel, basically a pork chop stuffed with a spinach cheese sauce and ham and then fried. It was so flavorful- don't skip the lemon! And the potatoes were perfectly cooked and seasoned. The highlight of the meal was the dessert of the day, a lavender crème brûlée that had the perfect balance of vanilla sweetness with the light floral lavender. The Apple strudel was good too, but it didn't hold a candle to the crème brûlée. We came around 5 pm on a Saturday night without a reservation but managed to get seating around the bar fairly quickly, luckily. Be sure to get reservations if you plan to eat at a decent time- it's a popular place. The atmosphere is lovely for a date, if a bit pricey. This is somewhere to take someone if you'd like to impress them.

Yelp
Found this place on Yelp and once again the Yelpers did us right. Great location, great ambiance, and stellar service. Some of the best German/Austrian food I've had. Excellent recommendations from our server. 10 out of 10 experience.

Yelp
I ran by here today to try and grab lunch on the patio before a flight. I got there not long after opening and lucked out. The larger tables were reserved but they had a small two top available and the weather was perfect. I have never had Austrian food, but I love something new. I opted for the ochsenfetzen, off of the lunch menu. It tasted better than it looked, and it looked GOOD. Marinated strips of steak, mustard, pickles, onion, and lettuce on a toasted bun. As a mustard lover, this was grainy and vinegary, and present. The pickles were more relaxed, but tasty. The marinade for the meat had a different flavor, I couldn't pin it down, but it was awesome. It was cooked perfectly and everything was so fresh. The bun was soft and toasted on the inside, I really can't express how delicious it was. Eight hours later, I am still thinking about it. Oh, and those fries? They are like McDonald's fries on the BEST day. Perfect. Megan, my server was wonderful and brought a postcard with the check. What a lovely addition to an exceptional experience. I would love to come back when I have time to fully enjoy the patio and some of their drink offerings, as they have an extensive list to choose from. Until next time, Grünauer. Because I will definitely be back.
