Guará Restaurant & Bakery

After living in Porto for three years, I tried the Francecinha at this wonderful place today. The decor is beautiful and harmonious, and the atmosphere is peaceful. The staff are unbeatable, very attentive and friendly. We tried the daily special, the chorizo piadina and the Francecinha, as well as ordering several desserts to take away. The desserts are delicious. A wonderful place and definitely a paradise for any vegan :) You can also order cakes and other things

I had such a great experience at Guara! The food was absolutely delicious, and you can really tell how much care goes into each dish. What impressed me most is how incredibly well they recreate traditional plates in fully vegan versions, the flavors are spot on. Honestly, if you didn’t know it was vegan, you wouldn’t be able to tell. Everything was rich, well-seasoned, and satisfying without feeling heavy. It’s amazing to see a place that keeps the authenticity of classic dishes while making them completely plant-based. 🌱

Great vegan place! For a tourist, it's a little tricky to find because although the name is now Guara, it still has the old name, A Padoca, on the building. They made us a birthday cake to order, and it was wonderful. Pic looks a little messy because we toted it around - our fault, not theirs. Staff was very friendly and helpful too.

By far my favourite place to eat in Gaia and one of my favourites overall in Portugal! The food is just as impeccable as the service, couldn’t recommend it more! Being vegan has never been easier nor tastier than at Padoca 🥹!!! Also the best Francesinha around, no joke!

Nice staff that speak in both English and Portuguese. The food was tasty and creative. The desserts are a big draw as well and we enjoyed the Snickers and pistachio donuts.

Absolutely fantastic experience at Guará Restaurant & Bakery! From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed by a cozy and vibrant atmosphere, perfect for lunch or dinner. The team was incredibly attentive and friendly, ready to explain the menu and give great suggestions. The food itself was exceptional, full of flavour, beautifully presented, and clearly made with real passion and creativity. Even non-vegans are blown away by the taste and quality! 💚 The menu offers such inventive plant-based options that you forget you’re at a vegan restaurant, with delicious twists on classics like the vegan francesinha and savory bakery items. And don’t even get me started on the desserts , they are a real highlight and worth saving room for! It’s also worth mentioning the story behind the name change (to avoid confusion with another Padoca in Porto) but trust me, this place stands on its own as a must-visit in Gaia/Porto for anyone who loves great food. Highly recommended, I’ll definitely be back!
