I made a reservation at Gubas through Expedia, which clearly stated that no deposit was required at the time of booking - see picture. I provided my credit card information with the understanding that I would not be charged. Despite this, the deposit was erroneously charged to my credit card on December 20, 2025. I cancelled my reservation with Gubas De Hoek on Expedia, but was directed to Gubas for the refund. Gubas acknowledged their mistake and initially refunded the deposit minus credit card fees. Since this was their error, I pointed out that it is unreasonable to expect customers to pay for their mistakes. Shortly after, they withdrew the deposit AGAIN from my credit card, and I have yet to receive my refund. I sent them a WhatsApp message, but received no response. Right now, I have no booking, and they have my deposit. Be very careful when you are dealing with this business.
