I visited the spa during my stay and while my massage itself was a 10/10, the overall spa experience fell short of what I expect from a luxury spa—especially one associated with the Guerlain name.
The spa desk staff appeared unprepared and disorganized. Upon arrival, they were scrambling to find the lockers that were equipped with robes, not only for me but for other guests as well. This immediately disrupted the experience. When guests have scheduled appointments, lockers and robes should be ready in advance. Seeing that level of chaos is not aligned with a luxury spa environment.
When I entered the locker room, there were dirty robes and towels left on the benches, which was off-putting. In my opinion, there should always be staff actively maintaining cleanliness in the locker area. I also asked for a comb so I could put my hair into a ponytail before showering and was told there was only one comb available, seemingly to be shared. I have never experienced this at any spa, and I visit spas regularly. What if someone had scalp issues?! Not ok.
Basic amenities such as shower caps and razors were locked away rather than easily accessible. If items are secured, guests should at least be asked upon entering the locker room what they may need. The shower drain was also clogged, causing water to spill out onto the locker room floor. Staff then had to place towels down while simultaneously escorting other guests to treatments, creating unnecessary chaos.
To end the experience, there was no toilet paper in the stall when I was leaving. At that point, I was ready to go and didn’t feel inclined to raise another issue.
The spa desk attendants seemed very young and inexperienced, and unfortunately it showed—not just in person, but also during some of my phone conversations prior to my visit. They did not seem really engaged, happy, or well-versed in delivering a luxury spa experience. This was sort of a mood kill, as it does not reflect what one would expect from a Guerlain-branded spa. They did, however, help me get an appointment for late afternoon which I was grateful for.
The massage therapist, however, was excellent and truly delivered a high-quality treatment. The Spa table… A cloud and absolutely unmatched! With better training, preparation, and attention to detail at the spa desk and in the locker rooms, this spa has the potential to match the standard its name represents—but currently, the service experience does not.
