Stayed here for 4 nights. This is by far the best place we stayed in Japan. The owner was lovely and gave us his time to chat and lots of local tips. The place is immaculate and when asked if it was recently renovated was surprised it was 5 years ago. The bedrooms are small, however the beds super comfy! Got an excellent nights sleep whilst staying here. The bathroom facilities are great, clean and many amenities provided. There is use of kitchen and utensils and fridge, if you would like to make use of these. The common area is comfortable with use of computer and many books. It was excellent location (about 10 minute walk from Yokohama station). I really couldn't find a fault with this accommodation and would definitely stay again if in Yokohama. ||Thank you Lee.

I spent two nights at Kanalian and it was one of the best hostel where I have ever been.||Great atmosphere and great value. The owner Mr. Lee is a nice and easy-going guy with a lot of anecdotes about backpacking. The place is very nice, with a great design and even if it has been open for 6 years so far, it looks brand new one. If you stop few nights in Yokohama it deserves a visit. The only issues I had is to find the place that it might be pretty tricky.

Let me first start out saying that this place was hard to locate from the street. There's a small green sign on the street next to a green bush, so it's easy to miss. This leads down some steps to the guest house.||||Once you find it, it's a GREAT stay at a great price. The interior is all wood and including the rooms. The rooms have A/C running through as well as a room fan to circulate the air. You have your own locker and the wi-fi is good. The bathroom is shared, but very clean. The house has a kitchen, if you wish to make your meals. If you prefer to eat out, Lee, the guy running the place, has great suggestions. He's a very mellow guy and great to talk to...he was an awesome host. This was our best stay in Japan...but be sure to look for that small sign so you won't get lost.

I am a traveler from Singapore with 3 of my friends and we spent 3D2N in Kanalian Guest House from Nov 2nd-4th. It is however, difficult to find this place on my first day because it's located on the left of a narrow two-way traffic. For you travelers who are considering a place to stay, you have to consider this place!! The room where I bunk in with my friends, is wooden interiors which I kinda like it. I should say the place is clean and gives me a "second home" feel. The best place I ever go to in Japan. The owner who is in charge of this house, Lee san, is a very friendly guy and always put on his megawatts smile. The rent is also affordable. He treats us free beer the second night and talks to his guests. He speaks English no problem!!

I recently stayed for a week at Kanalian Guesthouse while attending a conference at Pacifico Yokohama (which is about 25 mins walk away or 10 mins by train). The Guesthouse is simply superb. Meticulously tidy and the host, Lee, is welcoming and helpful at all times. I was in a 4-bed dorm which was comfortable and easy to manage with others in the room. The Guesthouse is a good reason in itself to visit Yokohama! An easy walk from Yokohama Station which is on the Narita Express line from the airport.

kanalian is a great place to stay. very clean, inexpensive, well designed. the owner lee is helpful, friendly and talkative. i stayed here two weeks in october and november 2013. i would stay here again and would recommend it to friends. free wifi, towel, nice bed and linens, clean rooms, shampoo, soap and conditioner, use of laundry all for 2000 yen per night. if you want to know where to eat, where to drink, where to visit in yokohama ask lee. he is well traveled throughout the world and speaks english well. altogether, among the best accommodations i have ever experienced! the only drawback was finding the place but lee will help you if you need it. it is close to yokohama station however.

I stayed here with a couple of friends for one night and I have to say that it's probably one of the best guest houses I've ever stayed in. The owner is a wonderfully friendly guy, it's meticulously clean, in a decent location and comes with the sort of attention to detail that many places lack. If I ever find myself in the Yokohama area again, this is without question where I'd stay. ||||In short, excellent. Especially at the price that's charged.

Although 10 minutes walk from Yokohama JR station, it wasn’t that easy to find. Nevertheless, this was a charming little wooden house that offered a fine retreat from the hustle and bustle which made the hunt worth it. The amenities are very well maintained and you would not know that it was more than 5 years old. ||The owner Lee and his cat (adopted from the street) are very friendly, and we had drinks and chats each night while I was there. I was sorry to learn that the guest house may not be running after this year. I recommend giving this place a visit if you have the chance.
