Very nice host. Smiling and welcoming. We enjoyed her conversation. The location is a bit remote and this is what makes it charming. Nice meat restaurant and onsen in the area. Ideal to wind down after a long day. The room are simple, clean and spacious. Enjoyed our stay. Thank you for hosting us.

The guesthouse was as to be expected, simple, rustic and typical for a Japanese-style place. But the owner made most of this review positive. She was kind, attentive but not overbearing. She also went out of her way to make us all a nice breakfast in the morning. I’d recommend this place for anyone looking for some quiet accommodation—and the view from the backyard in the early morning is stunning. 🤩

Any tourist looking to stay in the Japanese alps close to Kanazawa should look here. The rooms are well furnished and comfortable. The scenery is fantastic. There are good restaurants nearby and breakfast can be provided if you pay for it. The woman who runs the place is wonderful. She is very friendly and speaks good English. She went out of her way to help us. Accommodations can be made for guests who want a more western style experience. Aircon and WiFi are provided.

Nice and cozy house. Sister-like staff was very kind and we had a nice chat with her. We stayed in the private room but seemed like they also have a dormitory type of rooms. We stayed there in early December 2017, and the other guests whom I met were mostly Japanese girls and seemed like they became friends during their stay. It was nice.

Everything in shirakawago was booked by the time we decided to go which lead us to Yamashita. A quick 40 min bus ride from shirakawago leads you straight there. We checked in without a problem and the owner offered to drive us to the hot springs latter that evening. She not only drove us there but gave us discount tickets and told us to tell the staff at the hotsprings to call her when we wanted to be picked up. Our room was a girls dorm and we found the beds to be clean and comfy. Likewise the hostel had a very homey feel to it making us relaxed. In the morning the owner walked with us to the bus stop (in the snow) and gave us great discount tickets to johana station for the bus. Overall the hostel is in a great spot to explore the historic towns in the area or even johana city. The owner is friendly, warm and knowledgeable of the area. I even forgot an item and she responded right away to my message about the item and her sending it to me (domestic). I only wish we stayed longer!

The guest house is ran by a very nice woman who gave us a warm welcome and was particularly accommodating. Our room was large for a ryokan, unlike the dormitory. The walls are really thin so you can hear others' conversations clearly if they speak loudly.

Similar to the rest of the reviews, the owner was very helpful and go out of her way to assist in pretty much everything e.g. arranging bus bookings to giving a ride to the onsen which incidentally serve very good food. The evenings was memorable when we sat with the guests and had sake. Highly recommended for those who wants to getaway from the touristy areas.

This is a cosy place. The private room is a standard Japanese-style room. There's a sitting area where you can watch TV, eat and drink and chat with other guests. Use of the shower is chargeable at 100 yen. It is a hot shower, the shower room is heated, shampoo and soap are provided and there's a hair dryer. If you'd rather go to an onsen if you had to pay, there's one nearby and Satoe-san will drive you there if you'd like. Dinner is not available at the guest house, but there's a nice restaurent about 10 minutes away if you walk slowly. You can get driven there too, or to other available restaurants. Breakfast can be provided for you at a charge. It's simple but sufficient.
