Stayed 3 nights Pros: -Absolutely amazing location. It is on a hill but I managed 2x 23kg suitcases on my own as my delivery service cancelled last minute (not hostel’s fault at all) -Lovely common area & bar -Great friendly service -Spacious capsules & beds were comfortable. -Definitely worth the price. -Bathroom & toilets were dated but they were clean. Cons -I stayed in November and it was absolutely freezing in my room. Heater didn’t heat the capsule at all and the duvet was too thin. Because of the constant cold I caught flu which ruined most of my trip. -There should be hangers for coats outside not inside the capsules especially considering it was raining a lot. -I wish they provided white towels and normal pillows. Pillows were old cushions and didn’t fit into the pillowcases and they smelled. Towels were dark brown and smelled too so I used my own towels. I get it’s a budget hotel but hygiene should be the minimum requirement. -Couldn’t lock the capsules, so as a single woman I felt unsafe especially when a rowdy and loud American group came to stay on my last night. But overall I would stay here again if I were to come back to Hakone and wanted a budget hotel.

Hostel with double pods and lockers to put your belongings. The facilities were clean and we found the pod quite cozy. It was nice to sleep in there and the other guests were respectful so we had no problem with the noise. I recommend bringing earplugs just in case

Comfortable and homely accommodation in Hakone. We had a private room, and were impressed that we got toiletries to use, as well as tea/coffee so we could have a cup in the morning. It's good value for money I think. It's a decent walk up a steep hill from the station.

Read the other reviews. My sympathies to those people. Unfortunately the experience is really dependant on the guests there. Yes there is no noise insulation, so I can imagine the noise if someone gets drunk in one of these rooms. Also I came here during autumn, so the weather was perfect for me. I didn't try the food as I got my food from the convenience store while I was on my way up. Things to take note: - highly do not recommend staying more than 2 nights. Staying a night is sufficient, I was just here to try the spa and go to kamakura the next day. I highly recommend sleeping past 11pm so u don't have to deal with people walking up and down the area (yes u can hear their footsteps) it was a splendid experience for me as I went to bed at 11pm - cannot control the temperature, so I highly do not recommend staying here during summer/winter. -hilly area, so do leave your luggage in the locker rooms at the train station. Just bring along your backpack. How I enjoyed my stay: -hakone is a small town, so I recommend just coming here 1 night for the hot spring -the last call at the hot spring was 830pm so I went at 8pm and spent my time there till it was 930pm (took my bath here as well) - walked down to family mart to grab late dinner at 10pm. -brought dinner to the common room to eat and socialise -went to bed at 1130pm, I didn't even take notice of the noise as I was exhausted from the walks up the hills, and my body was so relaxed from the hot Spring earlier, I easily slept like a baby

We’ve just spent three nights at the Guesthouse Azito&bar and loved our stay. I gave 5 stars based on the location. the friendly service, the cleanliness and of course the price. We paid just under $200 AUD for the three nights. The rooms are capsule like but with plenty of room and the bathrooms are shared. You can request new towels each day and the wifi is strong throughout the site. The main street of Hakone is a five minute walk (uphill as you are returning to the accomodation). They have a small bar that also sells food but we didn’t use that facility. I encourage people to stay 2-3 nights so that you can explore the entire region and capture plenty of glimpses of Mt Fuji from the rope line. I also encourage you to buy the Hakone Pass as it provides free access then on the local trains, local buses, scenic train, cable car, rope line, pirate boat cruise and the Gora Park. I am 60 and would definitely stay here again.

The stuff was nice and helpfull. The place is lovely and great location. The only thing is cleaning was not good. (Which is essential when you book even a hostel.) The toilets smelled really really bad always. In my capsule there were hairs and other dirty things and I had to sleep there.

I have stayed here twice and I'd happily do it again. Certainly not 5 star, but awesome for the money, especially in a spa town like Hakone. The staff, the service and the funky little bar are what makes this place awesome!!!!

I just want to make a special shout-out to the staff and general vibe here. 24 hour check-in is honestly a luxury, and places that don't have this can really catch you out if your flight is delayed etc. They also have unlimited iced coffee on tap, and I'm pretty sure that stuff is a cold brew because it is potent! If you can speak any Japanese or want to try it on, they'll love it. If you make conversation, they'll love it. There is usually a collection of people in the cafe, many backpackers or travellers chatting with one another. Great vibe. Rooms are decent and clean. I stayed dormitory where you get a bunk bed with with a curtain, it will shake depending on your bunk buddy though. You get what you pay for, the other rooms were nicer.
