We have spent 2 fantastic nights at Grindavik Guesthouse, the first and the last of our amazing journey around Iceland! We couldn't ask for a better place! Dagmar, who speaks very fluently italian, has welcomed us as old friends and so we have left, as friends!|The guesthouse is close to the airport (20 min), to the Blue Lagoon (10 min) and to Grindavik Volcano. Rooms are spacious, there is a beautiful common area and we have loved the abundant breakfast included that you can enjoy in the common kitchen! Congrats guys for the passion you put in what you do. we can't wait to come back there to you. Well done

I stayed for 5 days in late Jan 2016, the ingenuity and professionalism of both the gentlemen and lady was exceptional. The gentleman kindly offered rides to the Blue Lagoon coach stop for me to get on the fab service to Reykjavik every morning. In addition, he also voluntarily took me around the harbour where his family’s fishing boat was parked along with a million others [ there was a national strike from the fishermen’s union at that time] and shared several details of the fishing sector of Iceland. A big thanks also goes to his lovely elderly sister who shared a lot of interesting history and information about Icelandic horses.|The breakfast and room amenities also offered good value for money.

We stayed one night in a room for 4. The primary reason was the proximity to the Blue Lagoon and Keflavik airport.||||The Guesthouse did not disappoint. Our hostess greeted us and gave us a tour and a lot of useful info about the city and the area. The room was very spacious and the shared spaces clean and tidy. The living room has enough to occupy you in the days of torrential rain and the kitchen is more than well equipped for self catering but also for the breakfast provided by the house. We were able to park right in the front yard.||||All in all, highly recommended for Grindavik and a Blue Lagoon visit.

Just what my family needed to stay one night to view the nearby volcano. The guesthouse is simple and clean. The family room was spacious enough for us to not bump into each other. The breakfast offerings of toast with cheese, meat, and/or jam and cereal made a quick and easy breakfast option for us. The hosts were pleasant in the very brief time we saw them.

It's true, the guesthouse is like a home from home but when we were there the upstairs shower room was out of action being refurbished, meaning everyone using the downstairs shower room. Unfortunately, this wasn't all. The downstairs bathroom had its light switch hanging off the wall, with wires exposed. And the mirror on the inside of the cabinet door was smashed. Our standard room was also too narrow to place a beside table on each side of the double bed. We had booked two nights but snow threatened to close the road to the airport on our second morning. Se we decided to move nearer to the airport. We agreed we were liable to pay for both nights, including a breakfast we would not be eating. No refund or consideration was offered for any of the above. Quite the opposite, in fact. We discovered that Booking.com had been informed (by someone....) that we had left without paying. Technically, this was correct, even though we paid as soon as we could after reaching our alternative accommodation. And in practice, it meant we paid for our two nights (even though we only stayed for one) well before our booking period had ended. Our bill was also confusing, referring to us having had a "family room" when we very much had not had a family room (I think this was just an immaterial mistake) but currency conversions meant we actually ended up paying more than we believed we had initially booked for. I hate leaving negative reviews, but we did have a stressful experience here. We enjoyed the company of one of our hosts, but we never set eyes on the woman who dealt with the bookings. It is also true that the house has a nice, homely feel. But, sadly, our impression was spoilt by the poor state of some of the facilities and the attitude after we left.

We stayed here when we got stranded in a storm as Police had closed only road back to Reykjavík after our visit to the Blue Lagoon. Snow was so deep and biting wind, owner was so kind and helpful showing us where to park (our hire car) safely. Room was warm and cosy with heated blanket. Told us places to eat but everywhere closed due to snow we ended up at petrol station which has a fast food diner. Certainly an adventurous start to our first night, almost glad we got stranded though to have stayed here and experience a bit of the real Iceland. Breakfast was help yourself cereal, cold meats, cheese, toast etc. Just lovely 😊

Clean affordable place. Rather humid in winter but it's great so your skin does not get dry because of Icelandic wind ( and you can open the window if it's too humid. It does not let io much cold in). Basic breakfast like cereal, toast and coffee. There's a kitchen so you can prepare something yourself. You can leave all the dirty dishes in the dishwasher. You can leave your car outside but I don't think you can park it inside. Owners are professional and friendly. Great experience overall.

Very nice guesthouse. The owners are very welcoming and helpful, the house is regularly well cleaned, and the bedroom was very comfortable! There is a washing machine so you can clean your clothes. The only thing that could be missing would be a clothes dryer. Otherwise, everything was very fine :)
