Guesthouse Dyngja

Really loved this cozy place! I will say, the photos on Google are almost all inaccurate, they must be out of date, because they do not look like this house at all. BUT we had a great stay! Check-in was very clear and easy, all self check in. The full kitchen is awesome, as well as the small outdoor sitting area. Beds were very comfortable. Didn’t have much of an issue sharing the bathroom, since its only about 4 rooms that share one. Also just LOVED this town - it’s tiny, so this house was walking distance to the few restaurants, harbor, etc. The downsides that keep me from giving this 5 stars: - Our room was very very tight for 2 people with luggage, but it would be perfect for one person. Also gets quite hot and stuffy, as the window does not open much. - The window in the bathroom also doesn’t open, so it stays very wet and humid after someone showers. - Thankfully we had no issues with this, but I didn’t see a clear way to contact the host if we needed anything or had any problems, besides ringing the doorbell. I can imagine this would be annoying for some people. I replied to a message they sent me on Expedia and heard nothing back, but it was okay. Overall, would stay here again though, great place!

My husband and I spent one night at Guesthouse Dyngja and it was one of our favorite guesthouses (we stayed in 7 overall)! The rooms were small but cozy and big enough for us to both lay our suitcases out. The beds were so comfy and the hall bathrooms were sooo clean and tidy. Check in was a breeze and two super cute restaurants were right across the street! Will definitely recommend this place to friends!

We stayed as a party of four in a self-contained studio, so we had a kitchen and bathroom. For one night, the guesthouse was adequate. It was roomy enough that we didn’t feel cramped and the place was kept pretty clean, although I did find a stranger’s long strand of hair on a kitchen towel. The kitchen was fitted out with the essentials and there was a decently sized fridge. The sofa bed was not the most comfortable, as it was rickety and dipped in the middle, though I have slept on worse. As well, the bathroom ventilation was lacking, since it would get very steamy and humid. I also wished that there had been more places to hang your clothes, as there was only one set of coat hooks by the door. If you can’t find any parking by the Tesla chargers, there is alternative parking elsewhere. We were able to contact the host about this when we arrived and had nowhere to park.

The road to Hofn was inaccessible due to rain, which destroyed a part of the road, as such we could not make our reservation. However, the guesthouse refused to refund us despite the unforeseen circumstances. If you’re worried about road closures and weather changes and hope to find a place to stay that has some flexibility, you may want to reconsider whether to stay here!

Everything seemed new, and if not new, extremely well-maintained to keep in like-new condition. As a result, it was exceptionally clean. Linens smelled lovely and seemed freshly washed. Only downside was the matresses were a little soft. Still highly recommended.

We were very happy with our stay here! Not only was the room very clean and soundproofed, but the number of amenities in the kitchen was fantastic - stove, dishwasher, tons of utensils and kitchen gadgets, huge fridge. Much better than any other guesthouse we stayed in Iceland.

Clear instruction on how to get the key. Very clean and modern facility. a nice and fully equipped kitchen, with coffee and chocolate. A small sink in the room. The heater worked really well. One of our rooms was on the lower floor. The toilet was huge and the water hot with good pressure. There was floor heating in the bathroom. The curtains were small but effective. Our room overlooked the garden and faced the seaside and a road, it’s quiet at night. So far the best accommodation in Iceland among our stays.
