I really enjoyed my stay. The building is a short walk from the train station. The building is traditional in style and really attractive. The host was very welcoming and spoke English, and gave us good advice for things to see and do in the town. The room was lovely and the beds/mattresses were extremely comfortable - the best bed I slept on in Japan. There are only 2 shower rooms and 2 toilets in the building, shared between all guests, and they were a bit old and tired, but I didn't have to queue at all. It is a short walk to the main sights of Nara. I would stay here again.

My partner and I stayed here for a night and were very happy. It is in a beautiful traditional Japanese style house with a stunning garden in the centre. The rooms are obviously old but have a lovely charm to them. Tip: use the heated blankets at night. Highlight: the staff member went above and beyond to help us and give us local directions. Great value for money, highly recommend

Beautiful and peaceful place where you can relax, a few minutes walk from the main temples and the deers park. Plenty of restaurants and small supermarkets nearby. Staff amazing! Very welcoming, helpful and smiling. My friends and I slept in the Japanese style private room and we found the futon very comfortable. The house is kept very clean and the kitchen is available for those who wants to cook. We had a wonderful time and we highly recommend it!

Such a lovely place to stay. Fantastic little rooms in the ryokan style - ours had a door opening onto the little central garden. Staff were lovely and helpful and the atmosphere was so relaxed. everything was clean as you would expect and although there was a communal kitchen where some people sat and chatted, the rooms were separate enough and spacious enough that we could sit in our room privately and drink tea etc. Nara was fantastic, but one of the highlights was our room at the guesthouse which had previously been used for tea ceremonies and still had a fire-pit under one of the tatami mats. Prices were very reasonable. I'd recommend it to anyone staying in Nara. It's also ideally positioned for a short walk to Nara Park and the various shrines.

We loved our stay at Nara Backpackers, a beautiful traditional house in a quiet part of central Nara. We had a medium-sized private room, which had a lovely view over their peaceful garden. The accommodation was excellent, with everything you could need including good bathrooms and kitchen. ||The star of the show was our host, Yo. He was lovely and knowledgeable, giving us excellent recommendations, telling us about (and how to get to) a saké festival that was on that day. And he went really out his way to help us forward our bags to the next destination. He couldn't have been more helpful or kind.

The staff in the hostel was very friendly fly. Takeshi and Yoshiko were always very thoughtful, and made sure I got all the tips for Nara. The accommodation in itself is fantastic. The house is more than a hundred years old, which makes an unique experience. There is some touch of simplicity to the place but it all makes part of the great experience. The hostel is very well located and WiFi was good in the entire house.

Stayed in a private room overlooking the garden. Shared bathroom facilities with the rest of the hostel, but very serviceable. Reception was very helpful and gave use great tips on touring Nara. English can be hit or miss depending on the staff, but very helpful regardless. Full kitchen is provided to guests and free tea/coffee is available.

Interesting building because it is 100 years old but the air in the dorms was chilly. The common area had a good heater though and the bed's comforter was heavy and warm. Workers are very friendly and helpful. Within walking distance of the places one would want to visit in Nara!

Yelp
Great Guesthouse! Lou was a great host! Thanks for all of your help! We left our luggage there while we explored and then picked it back up before heading for the train station. The alleys that surround this house are a bit confusing for the average American tourist as I lost my 70-yr old father when he went looking for a laundrymat. Japanese laundrymats are simply a garage with washers and dryers. Luckily, Nara and Japan are very safe and I found him a few hours later at the train station. Thank you Lou for all of your help.

Yelp
I stayed in this lovely place one night, when I went to visit the temple with the cosmic Buddha . Delicious, and I repeat : delicious. This Guesthouse was once the home of the master of tea ceremony . You sleep on the floor on tatami . Structured as a hostel , there is the common room and the kitchen . Two bathrooms : normal shower and bath Japanese classic, sinks and toilets . Everything separated . The girls who run it are very kind . Easy to get to , and once you get there is provided a map to reach the temple and various points of interest . The guesthouse is easily reached on foot from the station ( the road is all straight ) , otherwise there are buses . Finally, it is very close to the temples and shopping arcades where you can then eat. A tip : go to the town of the town , in the streets less apparent can find great seats to eat ! ----------------------------------------- Ho dormito in questo posto delizioso una notte, quando sono stata a visitare il tempio con il Budda cosmico. Delizioso, e ripeto: delizioso.

Yelp
Lovely, quiet little house. Some hostels in Japan are big, making it hard to meet people. This hostel was small but had a very welcoming common room. Met some of the most amazing people here. Clean beds and bathrooms. The host is also very nice! Thank you for a great stay in Nara!
