Last night, I had dinner with my family at Gufaa Ohri’s Cuisine Court in Basheer Bagh a place I used to love visiting during my childhood. After almost 10 years, I returned with high expectations and nostalgia, but unfortunately, the experience did not live up to them.
For appetizers, we ordered crispy corn, paneer tikka, and talawa gosht. For the main course, we chose goat curry with garlic naan, along with vegetarian dishes like methi chaman and paneer makhanwala served with tandoori roti and Lachha paratha. Sadly, most of the dishes lacked flavor and freshness. The methi chaman tasted more like plain palak with shredded paneer rather than the authentic preparation, and the rotis were cold and not soft. The paneer makhanwala was especially disappointing in taste and richness. The non-vegetarian dishes were slightly better, but still not impressive or memorable.
Overall, the food quality, taste consistency, and restaurant maintenance seem to have declined over the years. It’s truly disappointing to see a place I once cherished no longer living up to its past standards. I sincerely hope they take steps to improve their food quality, service, and overall dining experience in the future.
