Google
We're visiting from Canada, and our hotel staff recommended this restaurant. The food was absolutely fantastic, with generous portion sizes. I would have given this a 5/5 if not for the charge of 2 CAD (after conversion) for a half-filled glass of tap water. In our experience, tap water is usually free across Europe, so this felt a bit off-putting.

Google
Tasty food but incredibly unfriendly staff, even by Berlin standards. We came here for a Christmas lunch and not only did we wait for almost an hour for our food, they also didn't bring one of the mains for one of the guests. We were rudely ignored multiple times when trying to ask for it and there was not even an apology afterwards. Hope they can improve their service, not coming back any time soon.

Google
Service a bit confused but good in the end. **** Food was over expectations, portions could have been a bit bigger. Food reasonably priced. ***** Outdoor venue was ok - lots of space and seats. With a great corner view of Kollwitzstr. **** Would come here again. 👌

Google
the made me pay 12 euro for water and a cup of tea. 6 euro for a little bottle of tap water they filled themselves. I didnt even touch it and they still made me pay 6 euro. That is crazy to me.

Google
The food was a bit simple. My rösti was basically a bit like a full English breakfast. big hashbrown with eggs and bacon. The bacon was really nice. Felt a bit pricy at €18.

Google
Nice food, but more importantly, really, really lovely staff. Very friendly, fluent in English, attentive, cheerful, made us feel very welcome even though we came in quite late for dinner and sat around and chatted for ages. Food is delicious. We especially liked the open apple crepe/Flammkuchen. Will come back again.

The crispy pork knuckle was not spectacular and not crispy, but good. Creme Brule was delicious. Good service on the drinks, slow and inconsistent with the food.

Yelp
If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I came here hoping for a comforting raclette experience, only to leave with an empty wallet and a bad taste in my mouth, literally and figuratively. Let's start with the raclette cheese: it's ridiculously overpriced! And don't expect any fancy add-ons or decent accompaniments, just the most basic, uninspired spread imaginable. The service, however, was even worse. Our server was rude, inattentive, and somehow managed to disappear every time we needed something. It took forever just to get something, and by the time our food finally arrived, we'd lost our appetite. For the price they charge, I'd expect at least a hint of professionalism, but unfortunately, this place offers none. Save your money and your time, there are much better places to eat out there.

Yelp
This is a half-French half-German inspired restaurant with some interesting selections you won't find in many other places around. Their claim to fame seems to be their interesting take on artisan personal pizzas. We got two of them but the high prices prevented us from wanting to order anything else or get drinks when we could get drinks down the street afterward for half the price and double the beer. The ambiance of the place is really nice and the service was good, but they gave us a weird vibe when we asked for water. I hate that. If I want water, I want water. Give me the water, not your opinions about it. Anyways, the food was pretty good, but the prices would prevent us from coming back. Especially to drink.

Yelp
I can easily say that this was my worst restaurant experience ever. It took a whole hour for the last items - main courses - to arrive, even though we asked to have it all at once. The waiter let us know it should take 20 minutes, when we ordered. When asking to talk to the manager to give our complaint he said he did not have the time to listen, he said "pay the bill and leave" if not he would call the police. I wanted to have a word with him about the poor service we had received, and so he called the police - just like he said he would. It's a shame, I've visited the place numerous occasions earlier, and both the kitchen and the waiters are miles behind what it used to be. I am led to believe that place has a new owner - this place is not what it used to be. Please don't waste your time and money on that place, there's plenty of good restaurants with good service and food nearby.

Yelp
The restaurant is very cozy and inviting. We had rosti with veal ragout. It was delicious. Service was friendly and no one rushed us out the door. Good time!

Yelp
After a long day walk across Berlin, we arrive on that square, started Yelp and took the one with the best rating :) and we have not been disappointed! The service was highly friendly and the food great! We took a three course menu for just above 30euro. The foie gras creme brûlée was tasty with a real taste of foie gras - not like too often a cream and a drop of foie gras - great start! The main was for me a coq au vin- a great traditional French dish prepared in an elegant way. Finally the dessert, a great chocolate creamy cake with rhubarb ice cream to kill the over sweet taste- perfect match. A special thanks to our table neighbor - the wood maker - for the lovely chat :) Why not 5? Because I am greedy and keeping it only for the top of the top.

Yelp
For me the Gugelhof is as much German as it is French, but I guess that reflects its Alsacian roots. The food is reasonably priced for its very high standards and as mentioned in other reviews the service was very good, and the English speaking staff complimented by the English menu made things very easy for my visiting Scottish friends.

Yelp
The food was delicious. I had the falaffels and my frind some meat. We were both happy. Nice place and people working there. We didn't have a reservation, but were able to get a table for 1,5 hours saturday night. The evening was ruined by a very wierd, noisy and rude family at the next table. We finished quickly and got out of there.

Yelp
This restaurant had a very unique selection of French and German dishes, all extremely delicious and eclectic! In particular, the escargots and veal rösti were both incredible. Also had a great wine selection, especially the reisling. Service was also great and streetside atmosphere was so cute! Overall would 100% recommend!!

Yelp
Ahhhh my days in Berlin. Every city and town has "the" place to go try it's regions of food. While I have to admit I'm not exactly in love with German cuisine nor am I in love with the language but this one has a way of making one change their minds (at least the food that is). Reservations is a must stated the concierge while she dialed and made my reservations. The restaurants has daily menus, and it's wise to try to attend dinner early since most of the specials are gone towards later in the evening. As my German date stated you can't leave Germany without trying some of the fine sausages. Order of mixed sausages which of course comes with homemade sauerkraut, an appetizer of foie gras, and roasted pork leg. A meal is not complete without a pint of bier to down all the meat. Guten appetit! Mahlzeit! (my date was teaching me German)

Yelp
We were 5 people, 3 of us ordered the 3 course menu with Rumpsteak, while my remaining friend ordered the Fried Red Mullet with black Risotto and I simply ordered a 3-cheese Tarte Flambee. No doubt this place has a great location, great ambiance, and good service as well, but while all of us found the food good enough, none of us found it any special. Nevertheless, I'd still recommend the place for its cozy atmosphere.

Yelp
We arrived late in Berlin and was looking for some comfort food. We found this Alsace restaurant through yelp and decided to give it a try. We had the onion soup, pork knuckle, wild boar special dish, and the vegetarian pizza paired with Alsace Riesling ... mm good....highly recommended!

Yelp
Located in one of the nicest areas in Berlin : Kollwitzplatz, Gugelhof is a place I love to come back to whenever I visit the city. One good reason is that they serve very good Alsatian meals. The "assiette de la ferme" is just perfect as a starter with all the terrines, pâtés and hams. The flammkuchen and other typical Alsatian meals are all very tasty and pretty close to the real thing. Another good reason is the setting : a lot of wood, spacious, cosy with an inviting terrace outside. I've been going back there over several years and have not been disappointed once so would definitely recommend this place if you want to have a nice meal and a somewhat authentic Alsatian experience.

Yelp
Very, very good food. Try the duck-liver creme brulee.

Yelp
Warm, friendly restaurant with a 'neighborhood' feel, great service, and very good food. My husband had the trout (delicious) and I had the Alsatian tart. We also had an apple tart for dessert. Much of the seating is family or picnic style, and the place was packed on a Friday night, but we still could carry on a conversation. We enjoyed the warmth and energy of the place and the gracious hosts.

Yelp
So good after a long day! My boyfriend and I were roaming around the area browsing the options and saw this place on the corner and thought it looked good. I was on the hunt for schnitzel and they had it in the menu along with a few options that my very picky boyfriend was up for. We ordered the goat cheese and walnut salad and the cheese platter to start...they were both amazing. The salad was hands down one of the best I'd had and the goat cheese was top notch. The multiple options of cheese on my platter were incredible with homemade bread to go with it and apricot jam that hit the spot. For entrees my boyfriend had the chicken over mushroom risotto and I had, of course, the schnitzel. Both were out of this world good. We weren't terribly hungry but we ate as though we were. All of the food was prepared so well and had amazing pairings with it. Mine came with a traditional cranberry jam and a potato, cucumber, dijon mustard salad (sounds weird, tastes great). Although my boyfriend doesn't like risotto (he's not a pasta guy in general) I tried it and it was deliciously cooked with a good sauce that was worth dipping anything in. The food is great, the atmosphere is calm and quiet, and the price is just right.

Yelp
Not your typical French restaurant, the menu has a nice mix of French standards and Alsacian regional cooking. Everything was tasty, if not spectacular. The multi-language menu was helpful. Wait staff seemed fine, but not tremendously helpful. The restaurant itself has a nice, warm atmosphere, and in its a very pleasant neighborhood.

Yelp
Good Alsacian place in Prenzel'Berg. I really liked the ambiance and the food was really tasty if you are into Alsacian food. I highly recommend the food and the wine itself was quite tasty. Really nice place to come and relax and have a nice dinner. Nothing too upscale, the people all seemed relaxed and the service was quite nice. One star reduction due to service not really thinking along with our wishes. They were nice and did their job but didn't go above and beyond when we asked about a dish which used to be on the menu. Kind of a shame since otherwise a very pleasant experience.

Qype User (Jazzma…)

Yelp
Very pleasing restaurant with an Alsacian kitchen with a twist. The service was very good and the food was some of the best, ive had in a medium priced Berlin restaurant. The starters very interesting and tasty, and from the looks of it (I only tasted one) also the desserts. The main courses however are more traditional. Not that traditional is bad, but the mix was a bit surprising to me. One little thing though: If you have a Tiramisu on the menu, you should not serve something only vagely resembling it. However nice the dish may be (and was).

Yelp
Made it here on the recommendation from two 20-somethings at a local bar down the street. So glad we took their advice. The food was well prepared and served by a team that made you feel like they were happy you were spending the night with them. If you want to enjoy some local fare with really nice people, Gugelhof will not disappoint.

Yelp
This used to be good. Perhaps 10 years ago. We were there again yesterday and were totally disappointed. The food was nothing special and cold when we got it. We had to wait a long time even for the drinks. Although we are from Germany the waiter talked to us in English. Just a sign that this place is frequented by ignoring tourists only and not by locals anymore. Berlin has a lot of new restaurants that are much better. Just skip this one and go somewhere else.

Yelp
I had been here in the winter and found their Backhoff and charcrute just the ticket. But I recently was in town for only one day and wanted my friend to try true Alsatian cuisine and was amazed at how wonderful it was on a warm summer night. The pils and wine so refreshing, the windows opened for a lovely breeze, and the food glorious. We shared the goat cheese wrapped in black forest ham (a must), Alsatian soup gratin (more oniony than most, but sweet with a Riesling base) and fondue for 2 (my partner's choice), but couldn't finish half the pot.

Yelp
Had dinner here during our stay recently in this lovely neighborhood of Berlin. A bit touristy, but lots of locals also. Menu is translated into English and they accept credit cards. Very reasonable prices for good food and pleasant service. Everyone seemed to speak English well. Nice wine list also and they serve until 11 pm with outside tables available.

Yelp
really hard to enjoy pure german food, but enjoying the outside dining atmosphere is easy. always go for a white asparagus soup if you can find it.

Yelp
We had a nice afternoon there : good food & beverage and very obliging staff. My special recommendation goes to the fish soup. It was not only delicious,... it was divine ! My main dish was a so called "Bäckeoffe" (not sure about spelling). It was okay, but for me this combination of fresh baked white bread and a jar full of potato, vegetable and meat was not really optimal. However it was enough food to eat my fill and and the food was good enough to take a good memory with me.
