If You Are Traveling to Milan, Here Are 12 Wineries You Have to Visit

"Widely regarded as the birthplace of Franciacorta’s modern sparkling tradition, this historic cellar offers a pilgrimage-like experience through centuries-old underground galleries and the story-rich Palazzo Lana. Visits combine cellar tours in 17th-century vaults, access to a historical archive of significant vintages, seasonal vineyard events and picnics, and the chance to taste classic-method sparkling wines that helped define the region’s style." - Federico De Cesare Viola

⸻ Really disappointed with our experience. We booked the “I PREZIOSI” wine tour at Berlucchi through their English website, where it clearly states that children aged 0 to 6 are allowed, but not recommended due to the tour’s length and dim/humid environments. There is no mention of an age restriction — just a recommendation. We selected the Italian-language tour because it was the only one available at a time that fit our schedule. We never accessed the Italian version of the website — we only used the English one, which took us directly to a page where we could choose the tour, time, and language. At no point did it say that children are prohibited from joining the tour. When we arrived, we were told our 6- and 7-year-old kids were not allowed to join because minors are not permitted on Italian-language tours — but they are allowed on the exact same tour in English. The tours are identical in name, content, and price — only the language is different. This was not communicated anywhere in the English booking process. If there are different rules based on the tour language, that must be clearly stated. We booked in good faith, based on the available information. As a result, only my husband could attend while I had to return to the hotel with our children. It was a frustrating and disappointing experience, especially from such a respected winery. I hope they improve their communication and update their website for international guests.

Beautiful winery. Antonio gave us a great tour. Delicious wine and very informative about the process.

Exceptional Winery Tour and Tasting at Guido Berlucchi Our visit to Guido Berlucchi, the oldest and largest winery in Franciacorta, was outstanding. The tour provided fascinating insights into the rich history and innovative processes that have made Berlucchi a leader in the region. The tasting was the highlight, featuring a selection of their finest Franciacorta wines, each one a testament to their craft. The knowledgeable and passionate staff made the experience even more enjoyable. A must-visit for anyone in the area!

We had an amazing winery tour here and host was super super nice with plenty of knowledge. Visited the winery and experienced the full process with their wine making process and all. After that wine tasting session was super amazing in the palace.

We had a very informative tour with our guide. We chose the English language tour, and the guide was exceptionally well prepared. It ended up being a private tour as it was just the two of us in the English language group. We highly recommend coming here to explore the best of bubbles in Italy!

Google
the wine tour was very good. they are a little messed up with their website confusing us about the allowance of kids. it says its allowed in the english version and not allowed in the italian version, but the ticket is the same in the same hour.

We were advised by our bed and breakfast hosts to visit the Berlucchi winery shop to purchase a crate of wine for a friends 50th birthday in Bergamo this last weekend (May 3rd 2025). We went to the shop, we were ignored continuously by the girl serving in favour of Italian customers. After waiting to be served for over 20 minutes, whilst 4 other Italian customers who arrived after us were served first, it became obvious that we would not be served, so we left and bought our sparkling wine elsewhere. Incredibly rude and obnoxious people at this place. Do not bother to visit if you are not Italian!

Overall not a good experience. In my opinion, the wine tasting and tour of the facility is definitely NOT in line with what this brand should deserve. It’s not just for the €300+ for 3 semi-empty glasses for five people, but more so for the snarky and unpleasant tour guide, surrounded with a substantial lack of courtesy. I’ll keep buying Berlucchi products but the events at the actual winery won’t see me and my friends even again.

In 2021, this winery celebrated its 60th anniversary. We had an excellent guided tour of the wine cellars located in the Franciacorta region. At the end of the tour we tasted three wines paired with yummy chunks of aged Parmesan cheese. Tasting options and tours are booked online at berlucchi.it
